’1000 Violins’

When our friend Ryder Havdale was passing through Brixton again recently, it was a delight to grab another Session with the fantastic Mohawk Lodge. This time, we took a trip down to the nearby Loughborough Junction train station to perform infront of the evening commuters.

Canadian CA Smith took a walk with us down to Loughborough Junction Park to shoot a performance of ‘Son Of A Gun’. He told us that this is a song about people that you loose that in retrospect you feel like you may have been able to help. The lyrics say it all really. “Hindsight is a son of a gun”.

‘Otherwise’

Brixton-based trio The Hobos were delighted to use Brockwell Park as the backdrop for an improvised late summer performance of their stripped-down folk style. ‘Familiar Skies’ was a fitting title for the location, while ‘Otherwise’ features as one of the tracks released on their debut EP in May 2012. We were invited into Holly’s flat to capture a beautiful performance of Serial Killers.

We took a trip along to The Bedford in Balham to catch a performance with South London folk outfit Evan Jack.

The band are currently playing a string of live shows to promote their debut EP “For Susan” which is available on iTunes.

Rocketeer invited us into their Brixton home for wine and shelter from the bitter winter weather. We were then treated to a number of Beatles covers before they played their new single Cupid. Although it was a little cramped in the living room, we throughly enjoyed it and I hope you will to.

Jack Robert Hardman invited us to his South London studio for a exclusive rendition of his new single famous. It was nice to take shelter indoors, as they English winter weather has halted the brixtonsessions recently. Can’t pull focus with frozen digits! ‘Penguins and Moonboots’

Parisian trio We Were Evergreen were born in 2008, and have been creating a dedicated following since. There light, pop perfection has certainly captured the imagination of Brixton Sessions. When we are asked to join them for an afternoon at the Ice Bar it was no real surprise. Battling the freezing conditions the band still managed to produce some wonderful tracks, with harmonies and a mini piano. Please enjoy.

A first for BrixtonSessions, well in fact a second. Well, Jacques Labouchere is the first artist to do a second Brixton Session and we are very pleased to have him back. Jacques has been playing festivals this summer in and around his hometown of Gothenburg in Sweden, including the prestigious Peace&Love Festival. Jacques took a break from his mad UK tour to waltz down to a little park between Camberwell and Brixton to add some music to the summery scene. He is currently recording his third album…keep your ears to the ground.
