The Cossack

2015-09-15T10:08:00.001-06:00

Some video clips of this monster of a machine that the company I work for. It was built from the ground up and are currently testing it out with some extremely heavy loads in the mud.

Today we tested the Cossack and Tri-Drive Commander head to head.Same load, same spot, 20 minutes apart. For those that were commenting that this yard is hard, this is the same spot we tested in on the first video. It should be noted, the Cossack suspension was not functional during this test. We have some programming to do, going to work on that tomorrow. So in this video the suspension is non existent. It is sitting on the stoppers.

Had a successful day of testing yesterday. The hydraulic drive system seems to be working very nicely. This building is 75-80,000..., the machine weighs 168,000 so total gross weight around 240,000. We purposely hung the weight on the roll vs sucking it flat, just to see if we could get it to sink. We could not.We will be loading a tank with ballast next, get it up into that 130,00 range and see how it works. This area of our yard is very soft virgin ground, bed trucks not able to work in here with any amount of weight when it's dry. It's been raining for 2 days prior to this test. The rental loads you see in the background were put in this winter.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens 3D Glasses

2015-09-09T22:05:00.000-06:00

99 days until Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens in 3D this December, For those of you brave enough to battle crowds and lines, at select theaters you will be offered a choice of these sweet glasses instead of the standard black framed 3D glasses that get tossed in the box at the end of the movie. Fans can choose from four designs including: BB-8, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and a Stormtrooper. I plan on watching this many times in the theater so hopefully I can collect them all.

I'm Missing Out

2015-08-27T16:08:00.001-06:00

Now that I'm pretty well an adult and the tables are turned, I get to do almost all the mean things that my parents got to do to me. There are some exceptions though that make me sad.

Mostly, cell phones. When I was growing up you had to talk to a friend by using a phone that is attached to your house. If your parents ever wondered where you were, they could just follow the long tangled cord into whatever room you managed to stretch it to. And if it was supper time? They would just pick up one of the other phones in the house to interrupt you and let you know. And if you or one of your siblings had particular boy or girl calling, your parents would ALWAYS answer the phone first and then came the awkward interview. I will never get that opportunity to be THAT parent. The best I can do is take away their phone or WiFi.

Secondly, and this is kind of scary, but I grew up on an acreage in the country. I had the chance to go out into the woods or field and do pretty well whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. The parents never had to worry about where we were until supper time. At my house my mom would just yell my name out the back door and I would make my way home. I used to be able to tell them that I'm going to ride my quad to my friend's house 5 miles away and I'll be back before dark. Or I could just say I'm staying at their house or we're camping somewhere. As long as they had that much info, it was good enough for them. Now, I'm scared to let my daughter play Minecraft on the computer in our own home, and there's no way I'd let them go outside to the park one street over by themselves. There seems to be a lot more crazy, stupid people our there to worry about and the world seems like a very different place now with a lot less care free.

Note: I DO look forward to the first time they come home hungover though. OH MAN how I look forward to that day!
