Donald Trump to Transfer Control of the Kennedy Center Back to Congress

BroadwayWorld previously reported that Judge Christopher R. Cooper ordered The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to remove President Trump’s name from the building and all official branding, making it clear that the institution was to be named for President Kennedy. Trump publicly released a statement on Truth Social, transferring responsibility of the Kennedy Center back to Congress.

The full statement reads:

Shockingly, a Judge appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, Christopher Cooper, ruled that The Kennedy Center, which was going to close in early July for largescale renovations and construction due to years of neglect, decay, and poor maintenance, and which was to be transformed by the Trump Administration into the Finest Facility of its kind, anywhere in the World, is not allowed to close for...

Review Roundup: AND THEN THE RODEO BURNED DOWN at Ars Nova

Ars Nova's And Then The Rodeo Burned Down has officially opened Off-Broadway. The show marks the first Off-Broadway production of playwriting and performing duo Xhloe and Natasha. Directed with Tom Costello, And Then The Rodeo Burned Down continues at Ars Nova through July 2.

The rodeo is the best place in the world. Why would anybody burn it down? Dale, a rodeo clown with a big dream (and a mischievous shadow), certainly wouldn't. After all, Dale wants to be a cowboy. So, if we're going to find out who burned the rodeo down, we'll have to finish the play. And now there's fire involved? That sounds expensive. See what the critics are saying...

Audience Member Joins Orchestra For LA LA LAND IN CONCERT in Sydney After Performer Falls Ill

A special moment took place in Sydney this weekend when an audience member took the stage to join the orchestra during the opening night performance of Justin Hurwitz’s La La Land in Concert at the Darling Harbour Theatre.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, a musician became too ill to continue performing midway through the concert. Following an extended intermission, Oscar-winning composer and conductor Justin Hurwitz addressed the crowd and asked whether there was a keyboard player in the audience capable of sight-reading the score. Encouraged by his friend to volunteer, Sterling Nasa, a 21-year-old university student, raised his hand, and soon took the stage to perform in front of a 2,500-seat audience.

Interview: Nichelle Lewis on Why RAGTIME Feels Urgent in 2026

For nearly three decades, RAGTIME has challenged audiences to confront America's unfinished conversations around race, immigration, power, and belonging. Today, as the acclaimed Broadway revival continues its celebrated run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and heads into Tony Awards season as one of the year's most honored productions, those themes feel more resonant than ever.

Few people understand that better than Nichelle Lewis. Lewis, who earned her first Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her portrayal of Sarah, has become one of the emotional anchors of the production. Her performance brings extraordinary humanity, dignity, and vulnerability to a character whose journey continues to devastate audiences night after night.
