BroMine is BACK! We were inactive for such a long time... But we are back now! And bring CONSTANT updates! From YouTubers, Snapshots, Mods, and Texturepacks!

You can play Minecraft on a heap of different platforms: PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Xbox 360. Phew. But how do you play Minecraft? And, more importantly, what do you think Notch hides under his hat?

In the spirit of the recent US election, I thought I’d host a survey. Don’t feel pressured to answer any of these questions though. This is just for fun, and will have almost no discernable impact on Minecraft’s future development.

Since the release of the Pretty Scary Update we’ve been super-busy trying to fix as many reported issues as possible. We’ve now reached the point where we’ve fixed so many that we spend more and more time wondering “haven’t we fixed that already?” and “I wonder if this will break anything else…” In other words, it’s time to look forward to a new official update!

MC360 Halloween Skin Pack!

Hey hey!

Today we are releasing a very special Halloween Skin Pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. It’s special because all proceeds will go charity! The Skin Pack is 160MSP and all 160MSP (about 2 bucks) will go to good causes. 4j Studios, Microsoft and we have chosen different charities where the proceeds will go. We chose the Block by Block project where we are supporting UN Habitat to rebuild different places throughout the world.

It’s been made by a bunch of great developers (hello Rare, I loved your games when I was a kid!) around the world. I’m super happy that we managed to organize this, and I want to say thanks to all the developers that helped make this happen, but also to you. You get awesome skins AND do something great at the same time. And this is the first time the skins got capes! :)

The 1.4 Very Scary Update releases tomorrow, and we are all very excited about it! Many of us have already played the pre-release for excessive amounts of time, but what if you wanted more? Turns out Mojang is having a contest around the update!

"Contest, you say?" Indeed I do, and here's how it goes:

Make a scary screenshot in Minecraft. It has to be a screenshot, not a piece of fan art.
Make it the the scariest screenshot you’ve ever taken. One influenced by fear, impending danger, pain, anxiety; that kind of thing. You can wait for tomorrow’s update if you like, or submit it right away if you already have something in mind.
Submit the screenshot to the Hej Mojang page before the end of October 30th, CEST.
Cross your fingers and hope you win!

Contests are awesome, but what about prizes? We're glad you asked! Mojang has a nice, real-life foam pickaxe, signed by the entire Mojang team, up for grabs as a prize! That's pretty sweet, and not something easily come by, so definitely participate!

This week, Mojang developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten is on vacation! Unfortunately, this means that where will be no snapshot this week. However, there is a silver lining: Programmer and man-about-town Nathan "Dinnerbone" Adams revealed that the 1.4 update would likely be out before Halloween (October 31st)! Witches, Withers, and bats - all in time for spooky season.

I personally plan on wandering around with a skeleton head. Whether in-game or out, I won't say...

What's New:

*Nether loads faster when going through a portal.

*In Creative Mode, teleportation is instantaneous.

*Updated and added new sounds by C418.

*Added a sound for climbing up stairs

*New block-placing sounds: Wood, Stone, Plants, Sand, Gravel, although unintended by C418.

*New footstep sounds: Sand, Gravel, Soulsand, Grass Block, and Stone.

*New mob sounds: Cow, Pigs, Enderman, Zombie, and Skeleton.

*New tool sounds: Flint and Steel, Shears (when shearing sheep).

*Lava and Flowing Water now have constant noise.

*Added level up sound, but will be changing later for a shorter one.

*Added a passive mob: Bat.

*Added hostile mob: Witch.

*Command block target parameters have been upgraded.

*Beacon artwork was changed.

*The beam of light was changed.

*Item Frames no longer despawn when 20 blocks away.

*Wood blocks are now rotated differently. Instead of using the player's position, it will rotate based on the face it is upon, like a lever (this is mainly a test).

*Silverfish Source Blocks have a chance of spawning in caves.

Minecon 2012 ticket went on sale recently, but quickly became unavailable. Some estimates suggest that the tickets were sold out within two hours of going live. So, what are the rest of us interested in going to do? Tobias Mollstam to the rescue!

That's right, on Tuesday, September 18th at 5:00 PM (17:00) CEST, a NEW batch of Minecon 2012 tickets will be available for purchase! It's not too late to secure your place at Minecon 2012 this year, so be sure to buy your tickets once the become available - they won't last long!

Minecon 2012 will be taking place from November 24th through November 25th, 2012, in beautiful Paris, France. *Fire spread will be affected by the difficulty

*Rewriting Lighting engine. Current engine has some bugs.

Commands:

*Added a Command Block that can run server commands when triggered by redstone, intended for adventure maps

*Added a few commands for use with the redstone command block

*Improved superflat spawning options

*Entities (such as Cows, Minecarts, and Ghasts) will be able to travel through Nether, and End portals

What's new:

*Changed recipes for buttons. They now require 1 stone, block/wooden plank to craft.

*Leather armor sleeves are extended my one pixel:

*Their item texture has been changed to match the new texture.

*Diamond armor sleeves now have a notch on the inner side.

*Removed "mad_#/#" on the map and added "Map #" in the tool tip.

*Added boss names above boss health.

*When taken down to half health, Withers will gain Wither armor, making them immune to arrows.

*Occasionally, zombies, skeletons, and zombie pigmen will spawn with the ability to pick up items on the ground:

*Armor will automatically equip. Items will instantly be held, which is not exclusive to weapons. This means these zombies can be found holding items the have come across, such as rotten flesh.

*This will cause zombie pigmen to drop their sword.

*This will cause skeletons to drop their bow.

*The attribute applied to allow them to pick up items is called "CanPickUpLoot."

*Arrows caught on fire (or by enchantments) are able to ignite TNTs when on contact.

Bug Fixes:

*Fixed item frame crashes.

*Fixed Nether portal stuff.

Known Bugs:
*Client crashes upon trying to craft more area onto a map if you're connected to a server.
*When you push a mob into an End Portal, Minecraft will crash.
*Item frames take several seconds to drop and remain floating temporarily when the block to which they are attached is destroyed.
*Maps do not show their content if a player switches to another map in the meantime.
*Using Pick Block on mossy cobblestone wall, gives the player cobblestone wall.
*4x2, 4x3, and 4x4 paintings cannot be placed.
*Mob Al does not recognize cobblestone and mossy cobblestone walls at all. This can cause some suck problems as villagers being unable to reach a house, constantly walking into a wall all night.
*If a skeleton picks up a sword, it will not use it. Instead, it will fire arrows from its torso.
*Chest (and Ender chests)
will appear to be in front of the beacon block's light beam, even if they are actually behind it.
*Creepers destroy item frames and paintings when mobGreifing is set to false.
