We back again. This time we got A&R/Producer for Soul Temple Records and Senior Art Director for Koch/eOne Music Mr. Andrew Kelley (aka Mr. Hat Trick). We get into all things Wu and discuss the sound of the latest Ghostface Killah album “Twelve Reasons To Die.” We talk about the amazing Adrian Younge and how he achieved that authentic ‘classic’ sound, what is Venice Dawn, the origins of the Brown Tape and upcoming Wu-Tang projects. Plus new releases for June, Jamaican butlers and what you can expect to find in Redman’s trunk. You can reach Andrew Kelley @andrewkelley47 and be sure to get that new Ghostface album. It is a keeper! Special thanks to our partners Brooklynradio.com and IshLabs.

May 20th is the day we finally get new material from Tall Black Guy. Raised on a healthy diet of Motown, Jazz and early Hip Hop – Terrel Wallace (aka Tall Black Guy) has established himself to be one of the most influential producers working today. His debut album 8 Miles To Moenart takes in low-slung hip hop, downtempo house and jazz-tinged street soul. Largely instrumental, he’s also added some choice collabs with Ozay Moore (formerly known as Othello) and Diggs Duke, bringing their own unique styles to the melting pot. This record encapsulates the musical heritage of Detroit, through the looking glass of Tall Black Guy’s own signature sound.

With this month’s passing of Jamaican sax player Cedric ‘Im’ Brooks, we recall his legacy as not just another reggae musician, but a true ambassador of what he himself referred to as “third world” music. I pay a small tribute to him at the beginning of this new mix, then leading into other artists from genres that he touched on (and was influenced by), such as Afrobeat and Carribean funk and disco. The end result is another 60 minutes of me mixing beats and blurring the lines.

Brooklyn Radio family member Gibril “GiKu” Kuyateh, has just taken a break from his debut digital release “The Dancer In Me EP” to bless us with a sample of the EP and upcoming projects. The AfroFuturistic sound is also regarded as AfroCinematic, for its rich layers and lush dramatic progressions. GiKu recently collaborated with Boddhi Satva (Offering Recordings) and Paul Randolph (Jazzanova) to remix “Soldier”… so grab ya copy!
