Hi, John, I'm glad you are able to go to these concerts and enjoy yourself amidst all the work that you're doing. It's a new revelation for me - collecting towels from concerts...Please continue giving us updates on your activities and your perspectives of life in Japan. I really enjoy reading your writing. You offer such fresh insights!

Love,

You just made my day, John!!! I missed your blog a lot, and not only because you write so well and your insights are pretty sensitive and fresh, but also because I get to experience through you a continuing another perspective of a culture that I relate to so much. Plus, we feel closer to you through your writing, so keep sending us those observations....

This just reminds me that I ought to return the favor and write you also about the goings-on in our lives here. I promise to do that and soon.

Love,

Wow, you're still having to take Japanese? I'm scared now... I just started my second year. I thought I was about a quarter of the way there but I'm starting to think I'm only at 10%.

Sounds like you've come away from this well. These situations are always difficult, and final decisions are never easy. I'm glad it's ending on good terms.

In unrelated news, I'm still organizing the photos from our vacation, which is taking a surprisingly long time. I should have them ready by the end of the week and then I'll post them.

I'm going to have to go a different route. I think you should start watching Hayao Miyazaki's stuff. That man is an insanely talented story-teller.

I just finished watching Porco Rosso, very good, and re-watched Princess Mononoke.

I still think Spirited Away is the best anime and one of the top movies.

I think Irene would enjoy all of them as well.

Oh yeah, Happy Independence.

The Doc Rivers Special is alive and well. A broken clock is still right twice a day. What's more, a strong enough team requires less coaching to succeed, of course. I refer you to Phil Jackson, who seems hellbent on reviving the debate that he secretly sucks.

Make no mistake though: The Celtics won in spite of Doc Rivers, not because of him.
