Home Improvements – Planning Rules Relaxed

New rules come into force in Scotland on 6 February 2012 which will make it easier for owners to make changes to their homes. Permitted development rules have been relaxed for works including extensions, access ramps and other minor alterations meaning that formal Planning consent is no longer required in some cases. These changes have been introduced to reduce red tape and to help promote economic activity in the domestic construction sector. That said the relaxation to the Planning process does not remove the requirement to obtain a Building Warrant. New Year New Building Surveyor

We are delighted to welcome Gerry McGuigan to the Building Surveying team. Gerry is an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor within the Scottish market place and has acted for a wide range of public and private sector clients.

This appointment indicates our commitment to provide clients with a quality professional service, which is vitally important in a challenging econonic environment. Brown + Wallace Building Surveying now have a team of six surveyors which was also recently strengthened by the appointment of Colin Ashford. Colin is also an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor and since joining the team some three months ago has delivered a number of challenging instructions.

Comprising the complete refurbishment of the hotel reception and main entrance together with the front of house facilities of the restaurant and the bar. These areas were refurbished and remodelled to provide a modern and sophisticated presentation to the hotel clients.

The properties were designed and constructed to a high standard and despite the requirement for significant environmental capping operations, the works were completed within the Client's budget.
