Taking Care of Laminated Brows

Brow Lamination uses the same technology as a perm, so some of the same rules apply for protecting your investment of time and money. We all know how important taking care of permed hair is, so here are the top tips for maintaining your new Brow-Do.

Protect

The first cardinal rule of perm maintenance is that you are forbidden to wet your hair for at least 24 hours at the risk of deactivating the ammonium thioglycolate. --Legally Blonde.

And on the eyebrow- this includes forehead perspiration! So if possible, plan ahead to keep those babies dry and in place for 24-48 hours, or at least wear a terry headband right above them to protect the delicate brow placement. Use a washcloth or wipe instead of dousing them with water.

Every Day- Gentle Brushing

Brow Lamination is “Low Maintenance”, Not “No Maintenance”. Some folks even wake up to eyebrow “bed-head”. A 10 second brush up with a soft brow brush will keep things in line, protect the hairs from breakage, and show off perfect hair placement. Thin brows might even get away with simply pressing them into place with a finger after a shower. BONUS: daily brushing promotes hair growth on any part of the body.

Gentle Cleansing and Mandatory Conditioning

Chemically Treated hairs anywhere on the body need gentle cleansing and preventative conditioning to protect the integrity of those precious strands. Increase Hair Strength with the take home pack included with lamination or you can buy a tube of our clear Intensive Keratin Treatment for easy daily use.

“Crispy” Hairs are craving Moisture and lipids (nourishing oils). Facial Moisturizer can be helpful, Katari Henna and Castor Oils are phenomenal and promote brow growth. Our New BROW BUTTER is made in house here at brows and holds those brows in place, conditions brow hairs, and can give the laminated look to virgin hairs! The formula is working great and we are experimenting with packaging. We think you are gonna like the new easy to use tube! We are having a hard time making it fast enough for demand!

So, my laminated lovelies, take care of those beautiful lifted hairs, so that in 8 weeks when they are grown out, they have the resilience for a repeat service!

Finding Your Brow Sweet Spot

When you come in for your first visit, our first step is to make sure you feel comfortable here and have what you need. Relax on a couch and check out the view from our 130 year old historic picture

windows.

Your stylist will bring you over to their cozy station and get to know you and your brows. It is a wonderful start if you are already wearing them the way you like them best. No makeup at all, or a full makeup fill, we want to see what you usually do. We have gentle makeup removers and Katari Rose Water to remove makeup and prep the skin to see what you are working with after we learn your daily look.

During the consultation we will see what you like, what you may not like, and let you know what we see. How your brows grow, texture, color, shape. We will map the shape so you can see what we see before we ever pick up the tweezers.

Have you broken out from wax before?

We have lots of remedies for that, finish up with some salt water, baking soda, or even a Katari Clay mask before you go.

How much time do you want to spend on your brows daily? Maybe you want to tint or henna the shape for a temporary tattoo effect.

Do you use Retin A, Accutane or other skin meds? Maybe we should thread or tweeze, while avoiding wax.

Are you looking for a "get up and go, no makeup look?" Add on a Lash Lift and Tint to the Brow Henna and shaping.

Do we need to do a quick lip wax while you are here?

Lash Lift and Tint for a More Relaxed Morning Routine

We have all heard the term, "Wake up with Makeup"- but it usually means permanent makeup- some form of tattooing or microblading. If you want to save some time off of the morning routine, we recommend the Lash Lift and Tint along with an Eyebrow Tinting or Henna.

chat with your lash and brow artist first to see if there are any contraindications (conditions that mean the service isn't a good fit for you) Some examples might be recent eye surgery, or the care of an eye doctor for any current eye conditions. Please alert us if you are using any type of eyedrops. Your doctor is the best source of advice for the suitability of these services for you. Certain medications and individual hormone balance can affect the curl as well. remove all eye makeup and mascara before your visit. or arrive early; we can dispense some of our Gentle EyeMakeup Remover for you to freshen up before your appointment time.
remove contact lenses - bring eyeglasses or arrange for a ride home?
condition your lashes with Katari Hoba and/or Revitabrow for at least 30 days after removing lash extensions, before your Lash Lift to build up lash health and ensure that all traces of extension adhesive has been shed.
let your fresh Lash Lift set and cure for 24 Hours

hands off - let that curl set
avoid water, steam, any moisture- (no crying at the movies even?)
avoid mascara, cleansers, serums

We stay busy at Brows all year keeping bikini lines clean and smooth.
4 different waxes plus Sugar for even the "stickiest" situations,
and an obsession with finding the best techniques means you will get what's right for you.
There is no one most popular shape, we see the full range.

As for clean, we have high standards.

The Brow's rules:

We don't double dip sticks
Keep separate wax pots for body and facial waxing
Apply Finipil afterward to reduce chance of infection
Our wax is held at the proper temperature
Wax pots are kept clean

What can you do to reduce chance of irritation, ingrown, and infection?

BEFORE YOUR VISIT:
Start exfoliating at home.
Stop shaving at least 10 days before appointment.
Long hairs can be trimmed, but not too short, leave at least 1/2".

AT THE SALON
Visit the restroom upstairs before your appointment.
Freshen up with the wipes we provide to
reduce the number of bacteria and
contaminants on the surface of the skin.
Ask your waxer questions about
how to take care of your skin afterward.

AT HOME
Follow your instructions,
Exfoliation will help prevent ingrown hairs.
Salt soaks in the bath help too.
Apply Finipil and PFB as recommended.
