My Special Day! October 24th

I've decided to make today an extra special day. I'm going to make it so, by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing. I'll be doing stuff, but only what I feel like doing. Nothing has to be done by any particular time. I don't have to be concerned about whether or not I will get paid. I don't have to be PC. I don't have to be anything in particular. Let's just call it "My Special Day".
(oh, and today is also my birthday... i love me some birthdays!)
For those who will worry that maybe I have completely lost it, or that I may be having yet another mid-life crisis. STOP! I'm fine. I'm alive and kicking, even at 62. Oh, and as for the day... I intentionally scheduled no appointments. I have no meetings to attend. I also have no errands to run. My perfect day will be spent doing only what I want to do. Let's see now... what to do with this day...

Thank all my social media friends for all the wonderful Birthday Greetings. I'm gonna take the time to answer every one of them, as they come in... instead of posting one of those lame "Group Thank Yous" at the end of the day. Why not? I mean, it's what I wan to do, and I have the time!
Go to Gold's Gym, for a cardio work-out, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!
Paint the rusty spots on my Jeep. I have the paint. I have the tape. I have the time. I have the Jeep.
Watch "Ellen" all the way through. I catch the show many times during the week, but because I'm working too, I only catch bits and pieces of it. Today, I will see the whole hour long show.
Watch either Caddy Shack, Tommy Boy or The Hangover (one more time!)
Finish hanging the prints in my office. I have the prints--all ten of 'em. I have the frames--those clear acrylic boxes. Just need to finally do it!
Finish my Social Security Application form. I decided a while back to go ahead and officially "retire" at age 62. And to make it really official, I am applying for my share of the money that I have contributed to the fund over the last 47 years. (according to the calculations, on the Social Security website, I've contributed approximately $717,000.00. I know I will see only a small portion of this amount, and retiring 3 years earlier than 65, will make my payments even smaller. But who knows if there will be ANY money even left in the fund by the time I reach the age of 65?
Wear my PJ bottoms all day (until I leave the house or go to Wal-Mart).
Play with my brand spanking new Apple iPhone 4s. Love the Siri feature. (my totally awesome birthday present to me... something REAL nice... LOL)
Get some Popcorn, from my favorite Popcorn store. 3 Bears Popcorn They have 150 flavors!

The marketing of a Website utilizing Social Media:

We had a productive meeting today with the Coves Condominiums in Morehead City, to discuss our plans for marketing the new website. Those plans include the use of social media marketing. It was agreed that the staff would need training in content creation and management. To that end we've engaged the services of Raul Alvarez with "brijd Social Media Solutions".

New Magazine Published! "Smart-Sized Living"

The brand new "Stillwater Living Magazine" is here! Finally! This is what I've been working on for the past couple months. It's a full size, full color, glossy 32-page magazine that focuses on new trends in home building. Stillwater Harbour is an excellent example of this buildling trend, and is prominently mentioned, as well as information about the New Bern area. The publisher is Tab Premium Built Homes, and the pages are covered with beautiful photos from Zach Frailey (The Uprooted Photographer).

New Client Project for 2011 - "The Coves" Website

I'm putting the finishing touches on a new website design, for "the Coves at Newport". Here's the header image, but there's lots more to come! In fact, the launch date is set for THIS Friday!

The new website, is social-media enabled, so in addition to the actual website design, I created a blog for them, with feeds to a Facebook Fan page, and links over to a new Twitter account. Add to that, an animated QuickTime virtual tour, featuring an audio track courtesy of Jay Conner, a very talented local e (and also the son of the Coves project developer)

NEW PROJECT for Craven Water Conservation

I'm working with Linda Staunch on a new project for Craven County. It's a re-design of their existing water conservation website. Their current site is a static brochure presence. The new site will be more of a Blog site, complete with Social Media tools, and other SEO enhancements. Several committee members will be feeding the blog on a regular basis. It should be a good source of information about water conservation, here in Craven County. Launch is set for November 15th, 2010.

Here's a few shots I took on location at Stillwater Harbour. Stillwater Harbour. It is a new waterfront community that's being developed here in New Bern. I've been hired by the developer Tab Premium Built Homes, to help with the marketing. They already have the model home built and furnished!

This is the re-designed website for Coastal Environmental Partnership. They're the solid waste management people. They serve three counties in the east: Craven, Carteret, and Pamlico. The new site is social media enabled, and that includes a new Facebook page, a Twitter page, and a Blog. The new website has been optimized and includes Google Analytics tracking services.
