In a fun and casual atmosphere, participants will learn about grape varieties, wine vocabulary, global wine regions, the factors which effect quality, cellaring strategies, history and even wine etiquette within a restaurant environment. It’s our goal to remove any pretence from wine – we believe that wine should be more approachable and enjoyed. The sessions will cater to all attendees and are suitable to all levels.

Little Italy has seen a brisk changing of the guard in the past couple years, with the rise of new buzzy spots like Woodlot, Acadia and Frank’s Kitchen. A couple weeks ago, Neil Da Costa and Victor Brum, two veterans of the neighbourhood who first met at Trattoria Giancarlo, opened BruDa in the space that long held Negroni (and briefly held Carpano). Rather than pigeonholing themselves into specifically Italian, French or Spanish cuisine, they describe their restaurant’s menu as “European.”

In Carpano’s old restaurant space, BruDa serves up European cuisine with local influences

Neil Da Costa and Victor Brum, the co-owners of BruDa, a new European restaurant in the old Carpano space, say they opened their own business for lifestyle reasons, plain and simple. Both men are oozing experience. They’ve each worked in the profession for about 20 years, and say it was time to do their own thing. And so they started BruDa, (“Bru” from Brum and “Da” from Da Costa.)

The restaurant is about “sophisticated simplicity.” The classic wood décor is modest and elegant. The relatively small College storefront feels airy, comfortable and stylish.
