Semester Break!

Assalamualaikum, good day everyone! Of late I've been busy juggling between work and study whilst also supervising them kids e-learning at home. It is quite tiring but however it is worth the time spent as well. During this trying time in the pandemic, we try to get back to routine but in the new normal. The government of His Majesty especially the Mistry of Health has been working very hard to ensure the safety and health of the rakyat and its resident as its main priority. Therefore we must comply and adhere to every guidelines and health protocol for the good of this country.

Whilst in less than a month now to 12 Rabiulawal, we will commemorate Maulidurrasul. It is commonly observed by muslims worldwide as one of the matters is to develop and thickens our love to our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Just completed late last evening, I have created an e-poster as part of my Sirah Nabawiyah project. This is meant for educational and my target viewers are among students but actually it is good for everybody too of course. Insya Allah I will workhard to post more on our beloved prophet's teachings on this space in due course.

Happy 15th birthday Saádah, semoga sentiasa dalam perlindungan dan rahmat Allah. Sukses dalam bidang akademik dan melaksanakan perkerjaan yang diberkati Allah. With much love babu & bapa:)

Ahhh, about this one. Recently I enrolled myself in a 2-day online training for Sports Commentator which is also joined by fellow broadcaster from various countries. It took us 6-hours at one seating! But of course it is worth a long seat I must say.

Some weeks back, I went to the office for some essentials although we were not required to come over for nothing. Alhamdulillah, good to see my boss and colleague are fit and healthy! My boss Salmi quite busy with her essentials do.

Good to see Sarina too after her breakfast show. Always informative and insightful discussion with her I must say, good to see her fit and healthy as well. Take care & stay safe!

Assalamualaikum, good day everyone! Ahhh...as I mentioned in the previous entry, I've been away for such a very long time and there's a friend been asking of why the lack of update on this space or even better 'why no more blog post?'

As everybody made known, most people tend to choose micro-blog better such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp to keep everybody posted. Easy to use and it is with-in reach. We post updates and very quickly we get responses from our peer, which is fun!

Alright, since the 1st pandemic sometimes in March 2020 and the 2nd wave in August 2021, most people were unable to do their routine commitment be it in the office, school or even at home. Since then, we have adapted to the new normal which we must comply. Travelling was never easy too then but only for essential travellers.

As for myself, despite the hardship it creates I see this is also as an opportunity for me to develop my skills in different area. I have engaged myself into a lifelong learning programme at UNISSA I find it very useful and of course rewarding.

Now in the 3rd semester, we were asked to produce a short clip to create awareness to the public on the importance of staying safe by adhering the health protocol and to seek the help of the Almighty by 'Vaksin Ketuhanan'.

Not the best of clip, it is done using with a Samsung S10+ and by a university student which is myself (not as a broadcaster).

This was taken after I did my video filming. Didn't see my colleague Nadzirah for weeks, good to see my buddy again after weeks of self-isolation. It coincides too, we were colour coordinates! #blackpink

Assalamualaikum, good day everyone. Has anyone of you my dear readers seen that coming? Allahuakbar, i too didn't see that, the '2nd wave' is going to hit us but it did!

It was on the 8th August 2021, the long missing daily MOH's press conference making its comeback to give us an update of Covid-19's current status in the country. I was listening the press-con via RTBGO.bn while waiting for my 2nd dose of Moderna Vaccine at Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Indoor Stadium.

From that moment, all the public nationwide were asked to follow the health protocol that we used to apply during the 1st wave of Covid-19 in the country.

The first day at work and getting back into new-normal. By the way, it's been a longtime I didn't write on this space. But from today onwards since it is a working from home season, i will try my best to keep this space update. Wassalam.

Hadis & Kesihatan

Hadis adalah begitu sinonim dengan Sunnah. Menurut istilah (terminologi) ahli-ahli Hadis, Sunnah adalah sabda, perkerjaan, ketetapan, sifat (watak budi atau jasmani); atau tingkah laku Nabi Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam, baik sebelum menjadi Nabi mahupun sesudahnya. Dengan erti ini, menurut majoriti ulama, Sunnah sinonim dengan Hadis.

Menurut ahli-ahli usul fiqih, Sunnah adalah sabda Nabi Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam yang bukan berasal dari al-Quran, pekerjaan atau ketetapannya.[1]

Ahli-ahli fiqih (fuqaha) pula berpendapat, Sunnah adalah hal-hal yang berasal dari Nabi Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam baik ucapan mahupun pekerjaan, akan tetapi hal itu tidak wajib dilakukan.[2]

Bagi umat Islam, al-Hadis adalah merupakan rujukan kedua selepas kitab suci al-Quran. Hadis adalah merupakan perkara yang disabdakan atau dilakukan atau diperakui oleh baginda Rasul Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam.

Pengajaran yang terdapat dari dua sumber yang mulia ini adalah merupakan perundangan dan panduan yang menjadi pegangan umat Islam.

Dalam sekian banyak riwayat hadis Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam, tidak kurang pernyataan mengenai kesihatan, yang berhubung langsung dengan kebersihan.

Baginda Rasul Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam begitu dikenali sebagai pengamal cara hidup sihat, bukan hanya dalam aspek kerohanian bahkan juga termasuk aspek fizikal.

Cara hidup baginda yang bersederhana dan berdisiplin banyak memberi manfaat dalam kesihatan baginda bagi terus sihat dan cergas dalam melaksanakan peranan sebagai nabi dan rasul.

Pada zaman moden ini banyak kajian saintifik yang dikaitkan dengan amalan hidup beragama ternyata efektif dalam penjagaan kesihatan kini. Apatah lagi pada ketika dunia berada pada era pandemik, terbukti apa yang telah dipesankan lebih dulu oleh Nabi Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam mengelak dan merawat ternyata ada benarnya. Dalam sebuah hadis baginda telah bersabda:

إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

Maksudnya: “Apabila kamu mendengarnya (wabak) di sesuatu tempat, maka janganlah kamu pergi ke situ. Dan apabila ia berlaku di tempat kamu, maka janganlah kamu keluar lari daripadanya.” (Hadis riwayat Imam Muslim).[3]

Dalam ajaran agama Islam banyak menekankan setiap pekerjaan khusunya yang terkait dengan ibadat lazim dimulakan dengan bersuci atau membersihkan diri. Sering ditekankan kaedah bersuci yang betul, kekerapan bersugi, pengambilan air wudhu yang sempurna dan larangan makan atau minum pada barang yang tertentu telah mengiyakan pesan-pesan Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam sebelum ini.

Pada pendidikan peringkat awal lagi terutamanya dalam ilmu fiqh, kita akan menemui bab berkaitan Taharah, iaitu bersuci atau kesucian. Dalam bab ini, Islam mensyariatkan wuduk sebelum menunaikan solat lima waktu dan sebahagian ibadat lain. Begitu juga disyariatkan mandi dan bersugi untuk kebersihan diri.

Ini bermakna kebersihan dan kesucian diri ialah asas penting ke arah kesihatan jasmani. Malah, ia antara sifat utama orang bertaqwa dan layak mendapat mahabbah, iaitu kasih sayang Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

Firman Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala dalam surah al-Maidah ayat 6:

يَا اَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوْا اِذَا قُمْتُمْ اِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَاغْسِلُوْا وُجُوْهَكمْ وَاَيْدِيَكُمْ اِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوْا بِرُؤُوْسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ اِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ

Maksudnya: “Wahai orang-orang yang beriman, apabila kamu akan mendirikan solat maka basuhlah muka kamu dan tangan-tangan kamu hingga siku-siku kamu dan sapulah kepala kamu serta (basuhlah) kaki-kaki kamu sehingga ke kedua mata kaki”.

Begitu juga Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam telah bersabda:

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ لاَ يَقْبَلُ اللَّهُ صَلاَةَ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا أَحْدَثَ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ ‏

Maksudnya: “Abu Hurairah Radiallahuanhu telah meriwayatkan dari Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam, baginda bersabda: Allah tidak menerima solat seseorang diantara kalian jika berhadas hingga ia berwudhu.” (Riwayat Imam al-Bukhari)[4]

Agama Islam menunjukkan keprihatinannya dalam hal kesihatan dengan memberikan panduan ke arah penjagaan kesihatan berterusan. Antaranya sabda Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam:

الفطرة خمس، أو خمس من الفطرة‏:‏ الختان، والاستحداد، وتقليم الأظفار، ونتف الإبط، وقص الشارب‏‏

Maksudnya: “Lima amalan ini daripada fitrah, iaitu mencukur bulu di bahagian kemaluan, berkhatan, menggunting misai, mencabut bulu ketiak dan mengerat kuku.”

(Riwayat Imam al-Bukhari dan Imam Muslim)

Begitu juga apabila menghadap hidangan makanan, Islam menganjurkan kita membersihkan tangan terlebih dahulu. Sebilangan manusia sering alpa kerana kesihatan yang memberikan nilai dalam hidupnya hingga tidak menghargai mahal nikmat itu, sekali gus tidak sedar ia sebahagian detik kehidupannya.

‏اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ‎

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ

Alhamdulillah, as promised I am back with something worth sharing here about my recent spiritual journey to the holy cities of Mekah and Madinah with At Taqwa Travel & Tours. After an overnight in Jeddah, the next day right after Zohor time we embark for a long drive to Madinah. Knowing that we are going to a place of perfection and where Masjid Nabawi is located, we wish that Madinah is just right across the road :)

I do read and study a lot about Madinah before but the only excitement is when you are able to set foot there. It took us about 5 to 6 hours drive from Jeddah to this special city. Madinah then known as Yathrib is the city of our Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ migration or better known as hijrah from Mekah to Madinah which was happening 1440 years ago does not seem to be an easy ride for our beloved prophet (I broke in tears writing this line). Nothing else but as an act of obedience to الله سبحانه وتعالى and to spread the teachings of Islam. The Hijrah was also the beginning of islamic calendar which we muslims commemorate annually on the 1st Muharram.

Alhamdulillah, so blessed to be chosen as the guest of حَبِيْبَ اللهِ Very calming and amazing feeling to be here, my write up and pictures just cannot do it justice. May الله سبحانه وتعالى answer all my prayers and allow me, my wife, my three children Zahra', Sa'adah and Abdul Aziz as well as my whole family an opportunity to visit the holy cities and grant us Jannah امين يا رب العالمين

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Segala puji dan syukur dipanjatkan kehadrat الله سبحان و تعالىٰ dengan izin-Nya jua saya berpeluang untuk kembali membuat kemaskini pada blog ini setelah hampir empat tahun tidak membuat sebarang postings. Tidak lain tidak bukan ini adalah atas kesibukan mentaati komitmen pada keluarga dan tugas di pejabat yang menghadkan ruang masa kepada saya untuk membuat coretan dan melampirkan gambar sebagai kongsian. Namun sepanjang tempoh itu saya lebih banyak tertumpu dan melayan addiction pada instagram dan facebook yang ternyata lebih mudah dan tidak terlalu banyak mengerah buah fikiran bagi saya membuat nukilan panjang lebar sedang hanya perlu menyertakan caption pada setiap gambar yang dimuat naik.

Baiklah, sebenarnya sepanjang tempoh empat tahun itu saya telah banyak bermusafir samada atas urusan rasmi mahupun bercuti bersama keluarga. Tidaklah ada yang luar biasa sepanjang masa itu akan tetapi sekadar rutin biasa bagi saya sebagai penyiar yang mematuhi aturan assignment dan sebagai seorang ketua keluarga yang mengharapkan isteri dan anak-anak saya gembira bersama khususnya ketika bercuti.

Namun ada satu perjalanan yang saya anggap sebagai sangat istimewa dan luar biasa yang telah saya lalui dan sempurnakan iaitu menjadi tetamu الله‎ dan baginda صلى الله عليه وسلم . Allahuakbar.

Tidak pernah terlintas pada fikiran saya untuk menjejakkan kaki ke tanah suci dalam masa terdekat. Ini adalah atas beberapa faktor; faktor kewangan dan faktor urusan keluarga. Namun aturan Allah lebih sempurna berbanding perancangan hamba yang kerdil ini. Peluang dan kesempatan ini hadir pada waktu yang sangat tidak terduga.

Kesempatan ini sangat besar nilainya. Selain dua faktor tadi, beberapa faktor lain seperti urusan visa yang agak ketat dan pembahagian waktu bagi menghadiri kursus praktikal kadang kala sangat menguji kesabaran dan kesanggupan kita.

Selain daripada itu, untuk sampai ke tanah suci ini juga bergantung pada situasi dan keadaan bahkan adakalanya agak ajaib bagi sesetengah orang. Mengapa tidaknya, ada orang yang berkemampuan dari segi material dan wang ringgit akan tetapi belum sekali berhaji atau berumrah sedang ramai pula yang hidup sederhana tapi sudah ke tanah suci lebih dari sekali. Tidak ajaib kah itu?

Secara peribadi saya berpendapat ini bergantung pada niat dan diiringi dengan izin Allah jua. Usaha yang berterusan serta doa kehadrat yang maha esa, tidak pun segera pasti waktunya menyusul juga untuk kita menghambakan jiwa dan raga di tanah suci. Allahuakbar.

Sebenarnya tidak banyak yang ingin saya perkatakan akan tetapi sekadar curahan ringkas bagi hamba yang kali pertama ke tanah suci dan agar menjadi dorongan kepada saya sendiri dan pembaca semuanya untuk memperkuatkan azam dan tekad untuk menjadi tetamu الله عز وجل dan tetamu baginda صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Turut dipaparkan adalah gambar-gambar kenangan ketika saya berada di Jeddah. Saya telah menyertai Jemaah Umrah Rombongan Ke-8 (R8) At Taqwa Travel Tours Sdn Bhd Insya Allah semoga saya akan diberi kelapangan untuk seterusnya memuat naik coretan dan gambar kenangan ketika berada di Madinah Al-Munawarah dan Mekah Al-Mukaramah.

Another Landmark.

Salam, good day. The week has been taken from me, it was a very hectic schedule throughout. I start to feel the heat now. Working with-in the broadcasting and media agency is very demanding, I wouldn’t say it is a 24-7 duty but 10-7 would fit to my experiences.

The year 2014 offers a big challenge to me as well especially on how I am going to schedule my daily routine very properly. I have no choice but to keep going what I’m currently doing; family commitment, office commitment etc.

Alright, this week Brunei Darussalam has once again witness a historical event. The Sungai Kebun Ground Breaking Ceremony was held last Thursday in the capital. His Royal Highness Prince Haji al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince And Senior Minister At The Prime Minister’s Office consented to officiate the ceremony.

Soon after the completion in the next three years, it is a dream come true for those living at Mukim Lumapas and Mukim Sungai Kebun including for those working in these areas to have a faster way to commute from their place to the city, back and forth.

Beside using water taxi as a popular means of transportation crossing the Brunei River to reach the city centre, the residents in the respective area may also choose a land route.

But it has never been nearer and faster on the road, it takes more than 30 minutes drive and also more than 25 km for them to reach the capital. Midway through, they are also facing a heavy traffic at Jalan Bengkurong and Jalan Tutong especially during rush hour.

The travelling time and distance is expected to be shorten soon the bridge is open for public:)

Salam, good day. The year 2013 is heading towards the end and of course next is the year 2014 which I believe is going to be very tough. I have mixed feelings about the year 2013, especially when I have been switched to another unit from the previous 12 years position under my belt.

Just like anything else’, change is a must in life but it’s only the matter time for us to adapt to our new world.

However I’m still enjoying what I've been doing until now whilst at the same time I was thinking of to further my studies. Although I felt that it is going to be very tough as husband and a father of three, but I badly need to further my education. Of course this is for my own good.

As this is my last post for 2013, I would like to review a moment to remember for me throughout the year:

My first CT Scan in May for the purpose of my atrial firbrillation ablation procedure which was conducted by Gleneagles's prominent consultants. The procedure was a success and now I rely heavily on my medications.

A couple of hours after the ablation procedure, I didn't feel good for the first week but getting better after.

Charity drive visit to underpriviledged at Kampong Kupang, handing over donations for the upcoming Hari Raya. This is actually my department's annual project.

Salam, good day. My last post was back in November 2012 and it's way too long. Why? It might be caused by my hectic schedule and a bit of laziness. Throughout the year, I have done a lot of activity especially work related commitment which has taken much of my time. This year, 1st November marks my 13th year serving the Government of His Majesty. Also, I was twice admitted to hospital ward RIPAS and Gleneagles JPMC to work on some procedure to my heart. Alhamdulillah everything goes well and I feel much better these days. At the same time I need to be very compliant with my medication and also get myself active with exercises. From now onwards I hope I will post more of my activities here should the time permits:)

But suddenly one day, I didn't exactly know why I was totally eager to take a picture of this Brunei Darussalam landmark. I took out my camera and snap this beautiful scenery. According to a friend working related to tourism, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is the most visited place in Brunei Darussalam.

What I found out on the previous picture, I see an image of the mosque appear on the droplets. But the image is originally upside down because it is mirrored. So this is a rotated image of the subject and I feel lucky to snap this wonderful moment.

Salam, good day. Yesterday was so hectic, my Sunday has been taken! LOL. I'm a bit lost yesterday, because I need to do my job accordingly, thanks to my wife who has been beside me all the time to offer me an advise when needed.

My schedules supposed to be like this:

Salam, good day. It has been a long time not here, the last time I updated my blog was during my trip to Yangon, Myanmar.

Actually, I should have updated my blog on 1^st November, to commemorate my 12^th year with RTB. Due to hectic office schedule, only now I manage to do so.

Alright, I started my broadcasting career with RTB back in November 1^st, 2000. Not only as a radio announcer, but my job scope includes producing a radio programmes as well being appointed as master of ceremonies (emcee), sports newscaster, sports reporter etc.

Be it at home or abroad, I am widely involved in broadcasting for Brunei state’s radio and tv. But most notably I am involved with sports event. I’ve been to many places for sports coverage and programme exchange.

Talking about my experience as an emcee, the first time ever I was appointed was back in August 2002, during the Inter-Borneo Rescue Games 2002.

A week before the event, my boss has called me in to his office asking me if I’m willing to be an emcee for the said event. It was a mixed feeling than, happy and nervous.

By looking at my surroundings, they are more reliable and experienced candidates. But the trust has been given, so why not I should give it a go.

My first try was a success and the sports event which was attended by a minister runs smoothly. It was an amazing experience and I’ve learnt a lot from it.

Sometimes, only the emcee or someone been an emcee knows the importance of an emcee. They are the master of ceremonies, they control the event. The flow of the event should run accordingly based on the emcee’s announcement.

But there is also funny moment about emceeing, when things gone wrong they took the blame and when things run smooth they rarely get the credits. This is normal as an emcee, not only me but others too I’m sure.

Throughout my career, I was also emceeing at Istana and functions involving the royalty. I was also the resident emcee for Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and DPMM FC.

Since I was under RTB (Government), I rarely get paid for my service. People’s mind set is that a government servant is not for hired. Normally I was appointed through my department, so I don’t have any hesitation to do the job.

But sometimes I do get tips from the organiser and I really appreciate that. (Thank you very much to those very kind people!)

I won’t agree if I was named as a popular emcee or presenter, but I would agree if one would name me as the most appointed emcee for formal/official function.

Talking about my travel as a tv presenter or narrator, I can hardly face competition years back but not these days, the likes of Rashid Rahman Hassan, Fahmie Metussin, Malik Jumat etc has been very promising.

Now, I see a lot of newcomers and new faces coming up. Beside their talents they came up with good qualification as well as their good look.

In my opinion, the most outstanding is Rashid Rahman Hasan. He rocks RTB radio and tv channels. There is also one girl name Mumtazah Jaafar, who has been very good in every aspect. The very first time I heard her voice, then I knew that she could go further up. Good voice, good personality and talented.

This line up of newcomers really impressed me, because broadcasting in Brunei Darussalam need those kind of broadcaster who came with good package or the so called ‘X’ factor.

Their voice is strong enough to attract listeners, their look is very good enough to stick the viewers infront of their television.

Although I’m not that often working or collaborating with Rashid, nor Mumtazah Jaafar but I know they are a frontliner a producer can rely on.

Salam, good day. It is my 7th day in Myanmar, so far has been so good. Although we face difficulties in terms of communication, but then it's not as hard as we would have been expected. The people here very polite to others, they work hard too. Also, there is no beggars around town or anywhere else.

We do know they have been isolated for decades, but they are not far behind. By looking the way how they live their life, it teaches me how to be appreciative of my good life back in Brunei. We are blessed in Brunei Darussalam!

Since the release of Pro-Democracy of Aung San Suu Kyi, currently Myanmar is growing and they attracts more foreign investors to come over. One of their city here Nay Pyi Taw is one of the fast growing city in the world.

But In order to attracts more foreign investors, Myanmar need to improve their information and telecommunication system to the highest level. Because it is strange if you are able to received sms but unable to reply? But I'm sure in few months time it will happen.

Also in Myanmar, please make sure to bring a lot of cash, they didn't accept transaction using credit cards. Not only the small shops, but the big department store didn't recognise what is master card nor the visa card. But its good too, to avoid me doing too much shopping:)

The man in white shirt (*didn't get his name) has represented Myanmar in body-building during the SEA Games in 1987 Jakarta, 1989 in Kuala Lumpur and 1991 in the Philippines. Whilst his wife was also an athletes, won a gold medal in three consecutive SEA Games in discuss-throw.

Salam, good day. Hope everybody is doing fine with their daily routine and may always keep on improving in what you have done. I also hope that everybody would appreciate the task given to them, raise up their initiatives and work hard to achieve their goals.

Alright, my blog has been outdated for months (*sorry for that) which is due to the hectic months of September. I did attend so many events and functions but my job does not permits me to take any photos (*I can’t do two jobs at one time). Also, I almost forgot the story about the events and functions that I have attended. So, rather than telling the wrong facts, I think its better not to tell at all.

Okay, currently I was in Yangon, Myanmar on official assignment. What can I tell you about this country, it has a lot to offer be it in the matter of businesses, tourisms etc. Many uniqueness you can find and see here in Yangon.

As for myself, soon after landed at Yangon International Airport via Singapore the airport does impressed me so well. The cleanliness, the cargo systems, immigration does not fit the story we’ve read in the international newspaper or the one what we have seen or heard on the international news cable.

Although the road traffic system is not as good as we did have back in Brunei (the drivers here are very daring), but the Burmese are very polite. I won’t touch on politics, but they are very good people here regardless of their race and religion.

Actually Yangon is the capital city the Republic of The Union of Myanmar. The population in Yangon itself was about 5 million (2010) out of 53.4 million population. With the total area of 677,000 square kilometres, Myanmar is the largest country in mainland Sotheast Asia.

The currency they use here is Myanmar Kyats, BND$1.00 is equivalent to MK 691.000. Most money changer here prefer USD$ or SGD$. Alright, my pics below do tell more stories:)

This huge Shwendagon Pagoda is made up of a solid gold. The height is about 326 feet and the gold weight at 3 tonnes. This pagoda is 2,500 years old!

Salam, good day. I would like to wish my fellow muslims Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, may all having a wonderful and blessed Eid (Aidilftiri). For me, this year's Eid is much better one compare to last year in terms of our preparation (spent less) and visits.

Working throughout the holy month of Ramadhan and Syawal has been very challenging for me. As a servant we are unable to avoid such hectic times whilst at the same time we are thinking of the preparation for the festive seasons.

Lastly, I wish all my fellow muslims a wonderful and blessed Aidilfitri:)

Last ten days.

Salam, good day. Here we are again in the last ten days of Ramadhan. This is most awaited part of Ramadhan in which muslims all over the world are asked to double up their effort to seek forgiveness and blessing from Allah subhanahu wata’ala.

How I wish the whole year is Ramadhan but now it almost leave us. Although in a couples of days we are going to celebrate Aidilfitri, but the spirit of Ramadhan has never gone by. Ramadhan has offers a lot to muslims and the muslims knows that.

Whilst some of the thick-pocket even perform ‘umrah’ (visit to Mecca) during this holy month in order to gain more rewards from the Almighty once they perform ‘ibadat’ (muslim practices) in the holy land.

In the meantime while others are busy with their preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri, I was still doing final touch-up at my workplace. Although this is going to be very tough, but it seems very enjoyable. May Allah bless us with forgiveness, Ramadhan Al-Karim:)

...and today the Republic of Singapore turns 47^th. I have mixed emotions when it comes to Singapore. More than 50% of my travelling percentage is heading to this modern city state. I really like this place, the Singaporean knows how to run up their Singapore brand which deserves admire. This tiny island is very impressive in many aspects, they are very strong financially and economically. There is a lot to write about Singapore but I just don’t want to sound exaggerated. But that’s it!

I would like to wish all my friends there a Happy National Day, be proud of your country!

Talking about food in Singapore, it has been their favourite past times and it has been my favourite too. So, I can't afford to miss out on this food (pic) once I was in Singapore. My number one of course Nasi Lemak Adams Road (pic above). So damn good!

Salam, good day. Alhamdulillah, the holy month of Ramadhan is here again and as to my blog time we are now in the 11th day of fasting. When Ramadhan comes, meaning no morning coffee or tea, no bread and eggs, no kuay teow or kolo mee and so on and so on.

Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is regarded as one of the Rukun Islam and it is a compulsary or a must for muslims as long as they are healthy, physically fit and came to the age of maturity (Akil Baligh).

Fasting is not only the case of no eating and no drinking from sun up to sun down, but it is also forbids the muslims of bad thoughts and of course it teaches the observer to be self discipline.

For some, fasting from dawn until sun set was a burdensome but it was actually the best way of self reflection and to know better on how the underpriviledged live their daily life in such difficulties.

Since the start of Ramadhan over a week ago, a lot of activities being organised be it locally or internationally.

However the most followed is the London Olympics 2012. Three of our National athletes Maziah Mahusin, Awangku Hafiy Tajudin Pengiran Rositi as well as Anderson Lim has made their presence in London and has made our nation so proud.

After a controversial pulled-out four years ago in Beijing, we hope the three athletes would take this opportunity to develop their skills and perfomance for their future participation:)

Salam, good day. EURO 2012 came to the quarter final stage now with the last eight teams is gearing up to give out their best. After 12 days of entertaining football, now it's time to get another electric performances from europe's best teams.

Although both the co-host Poland and Ukraine failed to go through but I'm sure the tournament are still able to attracts the spectators to fill up the stadiums, impressive venues I should say.

Both the host nations has provided a world class stadiums and facilities throughout the tournament and they deserved positive assessment for this effort.

In all the 24 matches played, we have seen spectacular goals, couples of upsets, great comebacks as well as controversial decision.

Not much of unexpected teams are through but in my opinion Greece and England are lucky to be in this stage. Few pundits expects Russia to go through but Greece has made it from Group A. Whilst for England, Roy Hodgson has done a good job in less than a month to form a group of players who is playing a very organised football and finished top in Group D.

In this quarter finals, it was a fair draw I assume but the likes of Germany and Spain are still the hot favourites. However the mighty Italian and France as well as Portugal were also the teams to beat.

The quarter finals kick starts later this morning at 0245 hours: Czech Republic to play against Portugal. Let's hope more matches to remember is coming up, more attractive football will be on show in EURO 2012:)

The fever rising.

Salam, good day. EURO 2012 is a week old now and the fever is keep on rising! So far the so-called seeded teams are yet to show their full strength whilst the non-seeded teams have shown their ability of keeping pace with the big ones.

The co-host Poland and Ukraine has done a very good job since the opening ceremony, their performances on the field of play as well as their organising flow deserved admire. This is the first time ever the EURO Finals held in the eastern / central part of Europe.

In Group A, Russia looks very convincing and they are the favourites to go through to the knock-out stages. Besides Mr.Advocaat boys, all other three teams do still have their chances of going through. Never look down on Poland, Czech and Greece who still have their slim chance of making it to the next round.

The biggest shock so far is The Netherlands who lose to Denmark in Group B, also they are yet to gain a point although by lining up some of the world's talented players. The Danish side who came as underdog in this group has twisted the negative label given and now they are heading to show they are a team to be respected. Whilst the Germans have shown that they are a team to beat and potentially to go through to the quarters.

It was a bit of a tricky situation in Group C. The defending champion Spain fail to convert their chances and they need to be very clinical upfront after they've lost the service of David Villa. It ain't easy playing against Italy for the Spanish boys since the Azzurri is very organised defensively. Slaven Bilic's Croatia also done a good job against Republic of Ireland, they deserved the positive assessment.

The co-host Ukraine is the hot favourites in Group D as well as Laurent Blanc's France. Veteran striker Andrei Schevchenko is the forward an opponent should never look down to. He is sharp as ever and extremely very experience. Their win against Sweden was a cracker and we expect more from this co-host nation. Whilst Roy Hodgson England side is yet to build their momentum in order to book their place in the quarter finals.

In comparison to the FIFA World Cup, EURO finals is much more easier in terms of commentary and punditry. European players who based in Europe are very well known, so then we know them better and no sh*t commentary and punditry! *lol* All the 31 matches are broadcast live on RTB2 and RTB1.

Hair Salon or Indian Barber?

Salam, good day. I hope everybody is doing good and still able to ‘maintain’ their good shape *lol*. As for myself I’d rather choose the ‘keep fit, not fat’ slogan as a lifestyle. In my opinion, when we choose this style to live our life, this shows that how committed we are to our health.

Of late, I start to get back to the running track along with my wife and kids. During my last appointment at RIPAS PHY (Cardio) Clinic, the physician has given me two options? Back to medication routine or be physically active?

From the Electro diagram (ECG) done on me shows that my heart needs work. Because I am very inactive, the hearts work less.

The physician said that we need to give our heart some work to do in order to get a stable and proper heart beat. That is why besides sitting the whole day in the office, we are advice to spare sometime to do some exercises at least 30 minutes a day.

Any kind of physical activities is good for our health but not to exceed the limitation.

Some people seems unable to change their mindset, I mean they are very interested in thinking on how to get rich rather than thinking on how to maintain their health.

For me, I start to change now. I started to control my diet and do more physical activities. Currently I was in my mid 30’s, I think it is a shame to see elderly who is much older than me are able to do some jogging, football, badminton etc.

There are ways on how to live a healthy life; balance diet (nutritions), physically active (exercises), good sleep, positive thinking etc.

Alright, about my headline ‘Hair Salon or Indian Barber’? Which one would you choose? On my counts, I’ve been to a hair salon only twice since I was born! The rest is Indian barber shop:)

Salam, good day. It has been so long overdue, bruneidaily has been very outdated for a month. Actually I did attend a lot of events as well as travelling quite often too with in this month. But it's only the matter of time for me to do the write-ups.

Talking about my job which I consider as 'rojak', it goes really well *lol*. I do enjoy doing my work in the office as well as the field assignment. Also, I am more than happy to learn on how to do a job which I never have done before. This is actually a good piece of learning process which is very useful for my future undertaking.

I admit I am so very busy during the month of May, even the kids keeps on complaining to me *lol* but Alhamdulillah my Mrs knows how to deal with the kids.

Actually I don't know how to start the write-ups here because I do have a lot of story to tell and to write haha... So so many story here, yes I don't really know how to start!

Above all, Alhamdulillah so far everything goes well. By looking to ourself, we do have enough be it financially and materially. I have few friends who I consider as a 'thicked-wallet' people which are very stylish of them. They even look great with their branded stuff! Haha, good on you fellas. But this didn't convince me to change my lifestyle, but still I make good friends with them.

Coming from a middle class family (or maybe even lower) does help me (us) to see on how others live their life. We are able see on how easy the upper class dumped their cash freely and also how hard the lower class to gain a penny. This teaches me (us) on how to be very appreciative to what we have and to what we got.

There is time when we are deeply in need. But by looking on how hard the lower class live their life sometimes it could heals our problem and strengthen our patient. Be patient and be appreciative, so then we can happily live our life:)

Salam, good day. Although it has been a very hectic week, but as human we can't resist when the appetite for food arises LOL. I admit myself as a food lover and a strong eater hehe... Last evening we are having Sup Tulang and as you know it taste really great. Accompany with noodles, fried onions and chillies, the Sup Tulang is second to none. I know, I keep on praising the best food abroad but surely here in Brunei Darussalam the foods was at par with them. Only it need to be promoted. Bismillah:)

We went to this newly open eatery in Gadong for this Ayam Penyet. The environment does impressed me but not the parking space especially during lunch hours. The service is quite good and about the Ayam Penyet I would rate them at 6.5 out of 10. It is quite pricy too if we are looking at the size of the portion which is quite small. This review is on my personal opinion.

I was wandering who printed this banner at one printing shop at Jalan Tutong. The question is are we going to have 'Subway' in Brunei. In KL yes it is Halal certified but in Singapore is yet to get Halal certified. Ok, if Brunei is going to have one 'Subway' in Brunei, let's hope it is Hala certified straight away.

Salam, good day. It has been a while I didn’t write on bruneidaily, this is due to the hectic schedule. I was also unable to squeeze some time for my badminton routine *bad.

Actually the month of April was so eventful, lots of activities being organised. It's only the matter of availability for me to cover those events.

People used to say boring when there is nothing to do but it is another way round when there is too much work to be done. We should keep in mind, we need job to gain income and we need works to generate our body.

When the body move, it would help the brain to work and produce it's magic! As a man and woman, we are the best human being created by the almighty then we should know how to live our life in a better way than any other human being.

Haha, is that sounds very serious of me? Not really, but good to motivate ourself.

This week I was being assigned to Istana Nurul Iman for the coverage of The Confernment of Honorary Medals in conjunction with His Majesty's 65th birthday anniversary celebrations.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office consented to present the honorary medals on behalf of His Majesty. The ceremony took place at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kencana, Istana Nurul Iman.

Among the criteria that qualify them for the award is undivided loyalty to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to the nation, as well as to the religion.

Last evening, I was very unlucky not to watch the EPL Masters Football Brunei Cup 2012 at Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex Indoor Stadium. Although I was there but unable to enter the venue. It was a very long story to tell but to make it shorter, it is maybe because of communication breakdown haha... Haha...could you believe this? The legends is in town? Frank Lebouf (Blue) and Quinton Fortune (White). During his time, Lebouf is considered as one of the best defender in EPL and playing for Chelsea as well as Fortune is a very fine winger for Manchester United.

EPL All Stars Masters defended their crown for the second consecutive years. Lets hope this tournament is going to be an annual event in Brunei Darussalam. (Images by Infofoto).

The paracetamol given by the government hospital does help me to overcome my fever. I was hit by fever almost for three days and now Alhamdulillah I'm doing good. Also does help me is a tablespoon of honey mixed with lemon juice, the tricks works! Need to get back to full fitness now. Tawakkal:)

'Singapore's Tom Jones' passed away.

Salam, good day. I know there are many good singers that fail to get hits but unfortunately this Singapore based legendary singer which I'm going to talk about is a terrific singer and he has no trouble to get hits or whatsoever. He is the late Allahyarham Ismail Haron (13th May 1946 - 9th April 2012). He is also best known as 'Singapore's Tom Jones' (you would agree with that once you listen to his voice).

I'm not so sure if I should admit that I am the number one fan of Abang Mail (Ismail Haron) in Brunei, but I'm glad to be one of his friends amongst thousands of them. The first time I met him back in June 2008 during his show here in Brunei. Coincidently during that time I was on a holiday in Kuala Lumpur with my family. So I only managed to meet him during his last day in Brunei at Brunei International Airport.

Although we have never meet each other before, but I felt like he knows me well. We talked like we have been friend for so long. According to my colleague Hilmi and Shahrin who has been with Abang Mail throughout his stay in Brunei, he badly wants to see me. As for myself, I badly need to see him too.

If not because he migrated to Australia, Abang Mail would be as famous maybe as P.Ramlee, Ramli Sarip, A.Ramlie etc. But still, especially amongst Singaporean he is the 'Special One'.

visit to Singapore in March 2009.

The very last time I met Ismail Haron at his family residence at Jurong West, Singapore. Abang Mail was a very heavy smoker and I once told him to quit smoking and he only replied me with just a smile which shows he ain't ready to quit yet. I can sense he is facing health problem because of smoking, he can't stop coughing.

Although we are far apart, we stay connected via sms. I regret I didn't contact him during my recent trip to Singapore last March. His stage performances and unique singing style is second to none and will always be remembered.
