Usually I don’t work on this type of subject matter for artwork. This is my son showing a great interest in the ducks at McKinley Park in Sacramento. The light and colors attracted me to this scene. I may have overworked his head and left arm but this is pretty much what I was trying to accomplish.

This one is based on a photo I took in 2002 outside of Reno Nevada. I was driving toward Pyramid Lake and once outside of Reno’s city limits on a two lane road I quickly realized I was in the middle of nowhere. Instead of panicking I resorted to taking a picture. Up until now doing something with the image was on my “to do” list. Please don’t tease me about the six years of not doing anything. Actually I had several unsuccessful attempts and I kept throwing them away.

Thank you everyone for such a great Christmas season. You have all been so wonderful to me. Here is the view of my Christmas tree early this morning before everyone woke up.

The university’s orchestra played beautiful music inside the beautiful mission and it was a terrific combination. This pianist is a student at SCU and he was a crowd pleaser. Lucky for me, my niece plays in the violin section and got me a front row seat for this view. This was an evening to be remembered.

This is about the most famous view of Venice available. Most everybody that comes to Venice takes a picture from this spot and I see it on television all the time. With that in mind I  feel comfortable issuing a new version of my work this time as an oil motif. Lately I’ve been going back to revisit my earlier digital work. What do you think? Should I leave well enough alone?

My reasoning for going back is my techniques and skills have grown over the years and this picture is a favorite.

This is from the same series as the pitcher view of sunflowers. This time I heavily edited the busy background of this shot to highlight the table, pitcher and flowers. Soon I’ll be showing here the before and after photos of my work because so many ask “How did you do that?” or “What did the original picture look like?”

This pitcher of sunflowers sets on the table of the foyer in my home. In order to get the light from the side I had to open the front door to the house. Later I add a variation of this version just for fun.

This is the last of my series on oaks in the Sacramento area vineyards. The most surprising response has been long time locals not aware of the abundance of grapes growing so close to the city. On the other hand if these were tomato fields, no one would be surprised. To me tomatoes and grapes are both agriculture products and each grow well in this district.

The Girls Gotta Run Foundation has a fall exhibit at the Takoma Park Municipal Center in Takoma Park, Maryland. My work continues to do well for GGRF and this exhibit is no exception. If you are in the Washington DC area please stop by for a visit.

Starting today my work is open for viewing in California at Salons Within in beautiful Fair Oaks. There is a lot of variety in this display including some of my newest work from New York and Las Vegas.

The idea of these big oaks in the middle of a vineyard appeals to my sense of grandeur in the outdoors. They really look tall compared to the vines which in this case are about five feet tall.
