The Israelites did not desire to see God, for they were afraid God would kill them. And, yes, it is true, you can think that God may kill you, because He is very powerful. However, a death of dying to self is what He desires, and out of that you may begin to see God.

Mathew 5:8 says, “The pure in heart shall see God.”

If we hand ourselves over to Him, we need never fear the awful possibilities of the sin that is hiding in the depths of our heart that keeps us from seeing Him.

Purity is the outcome of a sustained habitation with God, which is a continual growing deeper into the center of His being.

If the spiritual bloom of our heart is marred in the slightest degree, we must make it right immediately. God then makes us pure by His sovereign grace.

If we are to maintain spiritual contact with our God it may mean we must scorn some things that may seem normal to others, but impure to you. At times, this may seem unfair, but then I hear Him say, ”What is that to you? You follow me!” (John 21:22)

I don’t know about you, but I want to see God in everything I do, hear, and see. And we can, for He promised we would see Him if we keep ourselves pure of heart.

What does it really mean to see God? And will we truly see Him in all of His glory? Maybe some people will, but most of us will see Him in the tiniest details of our life where it seemingly does not count, but it is important to Him, and that makes Him a big God we can trust.

When our heart is pure, we will be able to go deep into God’s heart and see Him work great miracles in our lives that are hidden to others, but known to God. Like an iceberg made out of pure water, only revealing a small part on the surface, while the greatest part is hidden safely underneath the ocean, He will make you an unmovable and strong crystal chunk that gives Him glory, because you regard and love your God, and you will see Him at work in you.

Why do we so easily fall into pride?

The sin of pride caused Satan to lose his position in heaven. Could it be that not getting into pride is the greatest struggle for us because that was Satan’s greatest weakness?

God can never entrust His Kingdom to the prideful servant, for pride is the armor of the greatest darkness. Pride makes us vindictive and cruel and it ties God’s hands from blessing and putting His stamp of approval on us.  It cripples us. God will come against a person with pride and self-sufficiency, but opens His arms wide to the humble. As long as we think we can do the work in His vineyard because of our giftedness, He has to set us aside and render us useless.

Your “defense attorney,” Satan himself, will defend you as long as you live in pride. When we listen to him, we will not see what is wrong in our hearts, nor will we do anything to change ourselves, for we are blinded to the truth. When we humble ourselves before God, our self-preservation instincts will be surrendered to His will; consequently, we will get “hooked-up” with our “Lawyer” who sets us free to walk in humility.

As we submit our pride to God in repentance we have every right to rise up against Satan, who will then have no more access to us or right to torment us. We may then start walking in the true nature of Jesus, Who is the ultimate of humility.

Francis Frangipane states that when Satan sees a humble person it sends chills down his back. His hair stands on end when Christians kneel down, for humility is the surrender of the soul to God.

When we are pure with humility, when no one sees and takes notice of us, we will openly reflect the light of His presence in the dark places.

Like this water lily below reflects the glory of God in the water, so the humble person will reflect His glory, where no pride can abide.

I hear Jesus say, “I came into this world as a humble baby and walked the road of brokenness and humility so you could have life eternal. Learn of Me and follow My path and foot steps, and you will bring many to the feet of the King of Kings.”

I have heard it taught that in Bible times a father would take a new-born baby, lay the child on his front during the night and sleep with the child on his chest. Thus, he would nurture the baby (or promote growth for the child, according to the Bible Dictionary). When the child needed to be fed, the child would be handed over to the mother for a feeding and then transferred back to the father.

When a child is tenderly instructed by the father, it makes the child trust his/her dad. When this does not happen, the enemy comes in with seeds of doubt, mistrust, fear and unbelief.

Many times I talk with people who have tremendous issues with trusting God. Very often they confess they have had a poor relationship with their father. However, God can totally change that when forgiveness steps into the picture as they let their father “off the hook.”

Sad to say, we often subconsciously transfer those mistrust issues on our Father God. That is just what happened to me; I never trusted an authority figure, let alone God the Father. Jesus? Yes, I loved Jesus, but could not identify with a loving God…until the Lord freed me from bitterness and unforgiveness toward my earthly father. Even though he died many years ago and never was able to confess to him my bitterness and ask for forgiveness, I still forgave him as if he were alive. I must say this was not an instant miracle; it took me many years of laying down my “rights” to my anger.

I have concluded that “trust” means letting go of your own opinion on how things need to be performed and adopting His thoughts on every issue. It means to abandon yourself to let go of the “what, where and when,” and trust Him in His good timing.

“Whatever,” for He is Love!

Our God is called the Lion of Judah and He is able and willing to devour any enemy of doubt and unforgiveness. He is our Father and Protector and we can trust Him when it seems there is no way. This Lion is gentle and knows how to nourish and deliver from the fear and resentment  we have formed in our hearts as a result of pain in our hearts towards our parents, or anybody else.

I hear Him say:” I have come to free you from your past hurts and failures, so you can learn  to love in return and become a good father, a gentle and patient mother, breaking the generational curses over your home. Do not hold your parents, teachers, children and friends liable,  but surrender them to Me for I am their Judge,  not you. Then you and your children will love  and become like tender plants that mature into strong trees in My Kingdom, and I will protect you and watch over you with My Lion Spirit.”

Do you worship God for the work you do, or do you adore the God of your work?

Sometimes we begin to adore our spiritual success instead of being content to have the approval of God.

As a child, I always was longing to get someone’s approval, and if I did not get it, I would manipulate people till they patted me on the back. Why do we do that? Could it be because we never had a courtship with only His approval and we never have experienced His passion for us in the depths of our being?

Sometimes I get so excited about what God is doing in people’s hearts all over the world through prophetic art to the point that I want to multiply this blessing; yet, God is saying, “Be blessed not because people respond to you, but because of Who I am, for I am the blessing and not the outcome of your work.

The disciples were excited that the demons came out of people, and, yes, that is very exciting to see that happen. But, Jesus instructed them to be happy because they belonged to Him and were part of His Life. He said that “as He is so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17)  Now take notice, for it says “As He is, so are we,” not “as He works, so we work.” It has to do with “being” first, and out of being eventually comes doing. Then, there is no more responsibility of having to perform for Him; we just need to stay in touch with Him and do what He does, or be still like He is. This takes stress from us, and we will then come to absolute rest In Him.

Preconceived notions of what God is fitting us for go out the door, for He engineers it all. One life devoted to God has more value than hundreds that are simply awakened by God and continue to do what they have always done.

When we are not hindered by our work, but walk with His total assistance, we can, as it were, do anything He does, like walking on top of the world and not be bothered by the tumult around us. We will be like the men in the picture below–going where He sends us, and doing what He does.

I hear Jesus say, “The world belongs to you if you totally attach yourself to Me and let Me work through you. There is nothing you cannot accomplish, but you need to make sure at all times that it is I Who is doing the work, as you step back and let Me do it through you.”

I do believe that God wants to give a strong sense of discernment to all of us. But we must be careful not to turn discernment into a mockery of criticism. The revelation is given to us directly by the Spirit of God and He needs to be able to trust us with the secrets of His heart.

Discernment can be a heavy burden that God puts on us. He reveals things to us about His precious people in order that we will take each soul before Him and form the mind of Christ about what God wants to do in that person.

As we intercede for the people we have discernment for, God will give us grace for them and He will be able to convey His will about the one we are in prayer for.

In the past when I heard from God for someone I would often blurt out the revelation without consulting Him first, while He just wanted me to pray, or maybe tell them when He had sufficiently prepared them for the manifestation of truth. I am gradually tuning into what He desires first.

There are times we barely hear the Holy Spirit whisper something to us for a needy person and the disclosure seems very vague. Sometimes God just wants us to step out by faith and declare what was just imparted to us. This means taking a great risk at times, but, oh! the victory that can come from such a venture–a delight to the heart of God and often freedom for the recipient.

When we come to a place of total dependency on His precious Holy Spirit as pictured below by prophetic artist Marietta Wright, He will show His truth in His time for that person. He then sets the captive free as the truth is made known to them.

I hear Jesus say, “As you draw yourself near to Me on a moment-by-moment basis, I will make Myself known to you as I made Myself known to Moses. Persist in coming into My presence for others who need Me and you will never be disappointed. Your reward will be great.”

Pride often causes us to be offended. Pride has its root in self and the Bible tells us to die to self; a dead man can never be offended.

King Saul chose to be offended by David, the warrior, because David had killed more people than he had. Could it be pride that caused Saul to be offended?

Proverbs 18:19 says, “An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city…”

The result of taking an offense is not being able to yield. Once we are offended we are in Satan’s trap and he has us conquered. Offense in itself is destructive and is always looking for sympathetic ears. The result? Many people are now offended. That is just what the intention of the enemy is, and this is how churches and families are split.

People who are easily offended are touchy. They easily work themselves into a state of anger and turn into master criminal investigators against the one who offended them. Their touchiness permits no probing into their own role in the offense and they refuse to look at the other side of the coin.

Offense will always color our thinking and it becomes impaired, just like a driver who is driving under the influence of too much alcohol until he finally crashes and hurts himself or others.

Could it be that feeling offended means only one thing: a person cannot forgive? And that means poison will permeate your thinking. It is nothing less than a heart that is closed off.

The wonder of the story of Joseph in the Bible was that he could love and forgive his brothers after all they did to him. When he saw them, he did not accuse them even once. He protected and gave them their livelihood.

Years ago, I started to write my own life journey for my grand kids. When I started, I just felt I had to tell about a person who had so offended and wronged me. Then God reminded me of the life of Joseph. I was overwhelmed with his attitude toward his brothers who wanted nothing more than to kill him out of jealousy and envy; they were offended with Joseph. Consequently, I still have to honor the person who had wronged me instead of exposing him.

Offense is an assault on love. When we get trapped by offense, we can be sure we have destroyed love.

When I think of Jesus and how deeply He could have been offended, I realize He would not have been able to go to the cross to carry our offenses had He given in to offense. He pushed through the offense and abuse and pursued love to give us life.

The horse has been in a state of anger and offense, but is now turning one-hundred-eighty degrees, into the direction of love and forgiveness and is no more offended at the world’s circumstances. She is headed for a life of a conqueror.

I can hear Jesus say, “My desire for you is to follow in My footsteps that have never stepped into sin with its destruction and offense. You do not have to walk this path on your own. Hold My hand and I will gently lead you through the unknown with its pain and torment. I will grace you with endurance to forgive over and over again, until you become a living fragrance of love and radiance.”

We had a darling car (if you can call a car ‘darling’) that had become my refuge. The moment I sat at the wheel she seemed to turn into my best friend, serving me joyfully and faithfully, becoming my sanctuary.  The Lord seemed to sit right beside me and we talked for hours as we traveled around to different places. However, she was getting old (ten years) and her frame began to weaken and squeak.

We found a beautiful new (to us) car with lots of stamina, and all the bells and whistles. I would truly enjoy the ride with my husband in this new car, but do you think I would relinquish my keys to my old friend and drive our new vehicle? No way. I felt I was cheating on her, until my husband announced he was going to sell the old lady and I’d better step into my new wheels.

I obeyed…and to my amazement I found this new car to be such a blessing and such a change for the better that I could hardly believe it. I was able to blast the music, turn the car on a dime and sit in total comfort like a millionaire’s daughter.

God has so much more for us if we would just let go of our mindsets, habits and old ways of hanging on to things. It is like being used to our old, comfortable shoes and not wanting the new shoes in which we can run better and faster and be more effective in His Kingdom.

The Jewish nation did not want to leave the ways of Egypt that they had known all their lives. They were in bondage and slavery to their food, habits and way of living. When God delivered them, He had to take them through some tough places; they were to utterly destroy the enemy or they would not get their inheritance.We must not stay comfortable in our own comfort, if we are to exceed our present situations.

We may have to go through some tough storms and be stretched and challenged before we actually step into the Promised Land He has for us. But, oh my friend, it is worth the risk to learn to know Him deeper in and through the process of change and growth. It is so worth it!

Below we have a comfortable pair of shoes that would be so easy to come back to, but God has some new shoes for us. Do not stay where you are; keep traveling in His shoes and He will take you to many new places.

I hear Jesus say, “Dare to take My hand and trust Me. I will take you to secret places where you have never been. I will reveal Myself to you in new and exciting ways. There is so much to be discovered, but you must let go of yesterday if you want to experience a new today.”

Do you ponder as to what the will of God is for you is?

Maybe God wants you to start a church or maybe He would like you to go to a Bible College? Perhaps He wants you to go overseas to do missionary work? It could be He wants you to go back to school? Who really knows what God wants from you, anyway?

Often there is a lot of confusion in individuals as to what the will of God is for their life; consequently, people often live without a true purpose, aimlessly and without a vision. You may even hear these Christians sing this song, “One day at a time, sweet Jesus…,” and they are glad they have survived through another day without tragedy or incident.

His will for us is one of the most exciting things a Christian can experience. Could it possibly be that the enemy has blinded us in this area so we can’t even see the obviousness of it?

First, let’s see what God has to say about knowing His will. 1 Thess. 4:3 says: “Now this is the will of God for you: set yourself apart and live holy lives…” (The Voice) We simply need to live a pure life before Him to be in His perfect will.

Secondly, another way of truly knowing His will is to simply present ourselves, our talents and gifts to Him and not allow the world to mold us into its image. Instead, we need to be restored in our minds from the inside out. This is God’s perfect will for us. Romans 12:1-2.

Thirdly, we can know His will by simply being thankful in all circumstances. That is a tall order, especially when a neighbor is getting on your nerves and you can hear his loud music in your office while you are trying to hear from God and write a blog (smile). The Bible does not say to be thankful for everything, but in everything.

When we live pure lives, present ourselves to Him, don’t allow the world to mold us, and become thankful in all circumstances, we are in His will and we will shine His light, like the light-bulb that lights up the room in the pictured below.

I hear Jesus say, “I have called you to a life of joy and purity and I am the only One who can release that in you. I have created you to be at rest and simply shine My Light to the world. You need not do big things for me–just follow Me, and I will be big in you and through you.”

Living this way, you will not be bothered by what God requires; common sense is your guide. You probably will also be more prosperous and successful in the world’s eyes. This practical way of serving God may become an opponent against abandonment to God, because that kind of “sensible” work is based on arguing how useful you can be to God.

However, once you have received a true call from God and He has commissioned you, there will be a driving force within you to do His bidding even when it surpasses all possibilities. Common sense will then fly out the window.

The true call of God on our life may also include resting in Him and seemingly not do anything to advance the Kingdom. We can witness that in the life of Paul who was separated for three years to be alone with God after his conversion.

If our life has not been gripped by His love-call we will count our own service important, time given to God precious, and our life will be dear to ourselves. Once we are seized by Him we refuse to use our energy for any purpose other than His. We then learn to rest in Him and let Him do the work through us; we cease to over-stress by performing the work on our own, and whether we amount to anything in the natural will fall by the wayside.

I hear Jesus say, “Before you were born My hand and My calling were on you to reach the nations. I have called you to love the people of the world in whatever condition they are. This can only be done through abiding in My deep love for you. I became a human so I could show you My love by dying for you. Now go out in that same love and conquer the nations for Me. This is My vision for you and you cannot do this in your own flesh.”
