There were both media and media icons who made it very clear that they wished our President any thing but success before and during his presidency. I feel so strongly about this that I felt a need to post this article on my blog spot. Read it and consider what it is saying, but most of all research it for your selves and find the truth.
But some of us, from all walks of life and ideological backgrounds -- including this white, straight, 57-year- old, former religious right wing agitator, now progressive writer and (given my background as the son of a famous evangelical leader) this unlikely Obama supporter -- are sticking with our President.

Why?-- because he is succeeding.

We faithful Obama supporters still trust our initial impression of him as a great, good and uniquely qualified man to lead us.

Obama's steady supporters will be proved right. Obama's critics will be remembered as easily panicked and prematurely discouraged at best and shriveled hate mongers at worst.

The Context of the Obama Presidency

Not since the days of the rise of fascism in Europe , the Second World War and the Depression has any president faced more adversity. Not since the Civil War has any president led a more bitterly divided country. Not since the introduction of racial integration has any president faced a more consistently short-sighted and willfully ignorant opposition - from both the right and left.

As the President's poll numbers have fallen so has his support from some on the left that were hailing him as a Messiah not long ago; all those lefty website's and commentators that were falling all over themselves on behalf of our first black president during the 2008 election.

The left's lack of faith has become a self-fulfilling "prophecy"-- snipe at the President and then watch the poll numbers fall and then pretend you didn't have anything to do with it!
Here is what Obama faced when he took office-- none of which was his fault:
# An ideologically divided country to the point that America was really two countries

# Two wars; one that was mishandled from the start, the other that was unnecessary and immoral

# The worst economic crisis since the depression

# America 's standing in the world at the lowest point in history

# A country that had been misled into accepting the use of torture of prisoners of war

# A health care system in free fall

# An educational system in free fall

# A global environmental crisis of history-altering proportions (about which the Bush administration and the Republicans has done nothing)
# An impasse between culture warriors from the right and left

# A huge financial deficit inherited from the terminally irresponsible Bush administration.

And those were only some of the problems sitting on the President's desk!
"Help" from the Right?
What did the Republicans and the religious right, libertarians and half-baked conspiracy theorists -- that is what the Republicans were reduced to by the time Obama took office -- do to "help" our new president (and our country) succeed?

They claimed that he wasn't a real American, didn't have an American birth certificate, wasn't born here, was secretly a Muslim, was white-hating "racist", was secretly a communist, was actually the Anti-Christ, (!) and was a reincarnation of Hitler and wanted "death panels" to kill the elderly!

They not-so-subtly called for his assassination through the not-so-subtle use of vile signs held at their rallies and even a bumper sticker quoting Psalm 109:8.

They organized "tea parties" to sound off against imagined insults and all government in general and gathered to howl at the moon.

They were led by insurance industry lobbyists and deranged (but well financed) "commentators" from Glenn Beck to Rush Limbaugh.

The utterly discredited Roman Catholic bishops teamed up with the utterly discredited evangelical leaders to denounce a president who was trying to actually do something about the poor, the environment, to diminish the number of abortions through compassionate programs to help women and to care for the sick! And in Congress the Republican leadership only knew one word: "No!"

In other words the reactionary white, rube, uneducated, crazy American far right, combined with the educated but obtuse neoconservative war mongers, religious right shills for big business, libertarian Fed Reserve-hating gold bug, gun-loving crazies, child-molesting acquiescent "bishops", frontier loons and evangelical gay-hating flakes found one thing to briefly unite them: their desire to stop an uppity black man from succeeding at all costs!
"Help" from the Left?
What did the left do to help their newly elected president? Some of them excoriated the President because they disagreed with the bad choices he was being forced to make regarding a war in Afghanistan that he'd inherited from the worst president in modern history!

Others stood up and bravely proclaimed that the President's economic policies had "failed" before the President even instituted them! Others said that since all gay rights battles had not been fully won within virtually minutes of the President taking office, they'd been "betrayed"! (Never mind that Obama's vocal support to the gay community is stronger than any other president's has been. Never mind that he signed a new hate crimes law!)

Those that had stood in transfixed legions weeping with beatific emotion on election night turned into an angry mob saying how "disappointed" they were that they'd not all immediately been translated to heaven the moment Obama stepped into the White House! Where was the "change"? Contrary to their expectations they were still mere mortals!

And the legion of young new supporters was too busy texting to pay attention for longer than a nanosecond. "Governing"?! What the hell does that word, uh, like mean?"

The President's critics left and right all had one thing in common: impatience laced with little-to-no sense of history (let alone reality) thrown in for good measure. Then of course there were the white, snide know-it- all commentators/talking heads who just couldn't imagine that maybe, just maybe they weren't as smart as
they thought they were and certainly not as smart as their president. He hadn't consulted them, had he? So he must be wrong!

The Obama critics' ideological ideas defined their idea of reality rather than reality defining their ideas-say, about what is possible in one year in office after the hand that the President had been dealt by fate, or to be exact by the American idiot nation that voted Bush into office. Twice!

Meanwhile back in the reality-based community - in just 12 short months -- President Obama:

#Continued to draw down the misbegotten war in Iraq
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Thoughtfully and decisively picked the best of several bad choices regarding the war in Afghanistan
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Gave a major precedent-setting speech supporting gay rights
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Restored America 's image around the globe
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Banned torture of American prisoners
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Stopped the free fall of the American economy
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Put the USA squarely back in the bilateral international community
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Put the USA squarely into the middle of the international effort to halt global warming
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Stood up for educational reform
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Won a Nobel peace prize
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Moved the trial of terrorists back into the American judicial system of checks and balances
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Did what had to be done to start the slow, torturous and almost impossible process of health care reform that 7 presidents had failed to even begin
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Responded to hatred from the right and left with measured good humor and patience
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Stopped the free fall of job losses
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Showed immense personal courage in the face of an armed and dangerous far right opposition that included the sort of disgusting people that show up at public meetings carrying loaded weapons and carrying Timothy McVeigh-inspired signs about the "blood of tyrants" needing to "water the tree of liberty".
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

#Showed that he could not only make the tough military choices but explain and defend them brilliantly
(But that wasn't good enough for his critics)

Other than those "disappointing" accomplishments -- IN ONE YEAR -- President Obama "failed"! Other than that he didn't "live up to expectations"!

Who actually has failed... ...are the Americans that can't see the beginning of a miracle of national rebirth right under their jaded noses. Who failed are the smart ass ideologues of the left and right who began rooting for
this President to fail so that they could be proved right in their dire and morbid predictions. Who failed are the movers and shakers behind our obscenely dumb news cycles that have turned "news" into just more stupid entertainment for an entertainment-besotted infantile country.
Here's the good news: President Obama is succeeding without the help of his lefty "supporters" or hate-filled Republican detractors!

The Future Looks Good!

After Obama has served two full terms, (and he will), after his wisdom in moving deliberately and cautiously with great subtlety on all fronts -- with a canny and calculating eye to the possible succeeds, (it will), after the economy is booming and new industries are burgeoning,(they will be), after the doomsayers are all proved not just wrong but silly: let the record show that not all Americans were panicked into thinking the sky was/is falling!!!!!

Just because we didn't get everything we wanted in the first short and fraught year Obama was in office not all of us gave up. Some of us stayed the course. And we will be proved right.
Well the whole world is a buzzed or at least here in theses "United States' with the passing of the new "health care reform" bill into law. though not perfect, it is at least headed in the right direction. There will always be naysayers and opponents to any change or sometimes just a new way of doing things. Good ideals are always a building process that needs to mature into a better way of life for every one. What is the most perplexing of all human nature is that oppositional attitude of "just because". Just because you suggested this ideal, I will oppose it, just because I don't like it( I don't have any reason,I'll find something later, let me get back to you on that) I will oppose it. Oh heck no, I don't see my proposal (didn't make one) opposition. Where and when will the madness stop. It has been a long road for our president, and he still has a way to travel. Now that the health care reform bill has pass we are witnessing some of the most unheard of actions taking place by so called American patriots, namely the " Tea party' and those so called Republicans that are attempting to ratify what has been a historic achievement here in the united states for providing decent affordable health care for all Americans. There are threats to Democrats who have voted on the passage of this bill, that could lead to physical harm to them selves as well as their families. Some of these threats are political dissensions to protest the passage of a bill that will benefit all Americans, some are no more than a blatant attempt to intimidate and to rally the ignorant hate mongers, into a negative action of destruction that will benefit no one. Sarah Palin and thousands of tea party activists plan to descend on Sen. Harry Reid's hometown in the Nevada desert to call for the ouster of Democrats who supported the health care overhaul. Why would you knowing the volatile nature of the people that are part of your group even make such trip. Is she hoping to incite a riot? there are already reports of threats and vandalism aimed at some Washington lawmakers, mostly Democrats who supported the new law. Her usage of wording and pictorials to describe her contentions to the Democrats being empowered is at the very least deplorable. Her face book page featured a U.S. map with circles and cross hairs over the 20 districts. She also sent a tweet saying, "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!" now you tell me what is wrong with that picture? and she wants to do what? run for president? Rush Limbaugh move over, you and Glen Beck has a female counter part. Enough already!! It is past time for the American people to speak out against all the hate and wrong doing disguised as a right wing conservative political outlook for the betterment of this country. Whose betterment?. It is time to put God back in our schools, and in the forefront of this once and still can be, great nation of ours. It is time for every great leader to take up the reigns where our fore fathers left off and bring unity to a land of people diverse in ideals and backgrounds, race and color, religion and beliefs, shape and sizes, but we all have something in common, in that we all have chosen to live and remain in this country, that we all want what is best for our children and future generations. We all desire to live peacefully and in harmony (OK, maybe I am pushing it) we all want a better life for ourselves and love ones, at least that's what I want. Lets pray together while we work and play, while we attempt to be at peace with each other. We need some basics, and it begins with God. Until next time, be blessed and stay in God's favor.

Our first Black President, having completed his first year in office still have his hands full. Not only in dealing with our foreign neighbors and attempting to realign this country with those neighbors that have been alienated by previous administrations, but also with the people that should be backing him in this country, those that are within his own democratic party, and of course those that are not. The Republican party has always been opposed to any changes in government policy proposed by the democrats regardless of the intent, irregardless of good or bad programs, it seems if they didn't suggest it, it's not worth the bother, even if they agree with it, it have to be in their own words , not withstanding having checks and balances as any democracy should have, there have been an outright defiance and subversion to what ever this president attempts to do for the good of the country. Everything from his foreign policy to the now embattled health care reform. And I am more than aware that every new president has to overcome the established status quo of a past administration, that's understood, as most people are resistant , that is..., to a certain extent... change. The economy have had its ups and downs, with businesses failing or in the very least, struggling to survive during a time of bank upheavals, job loss, product recalls and climate changes. This is a new beginning for all of us, a day without challenge is a day without life, we all have a part that we must contribute to make this world a better place to live, work and play. From the smallest to the largest, from the youngest to the oldest. It does not matter your race, color, ethnic, or religious back ground, we all have to live in this world. We are challenged by our creator to not only love him but to love each other, Matthew 22:37 Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:39 Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. I have manage to tread water in this ever changing tide and currents, times have been difficult, however I have kept God as my guidance counsellor, my pilot and placed him first and foremost in all that I do. I give thanks to him for all that he has and still is doing in my life. so for now, I will say until next time, may God continual to bless and keep you

I have served my country for many years both as a Marine and Airforce Technician, I've traveled to foreign soil and experienced different cultures I have even been to Saudi Arabia. I have a son that is now serving in the Airforce, God bless Timothy, stay safe, I love you. I know that in my heart, that it is past time to bring our troops home, and I would ask everyone in America to pray for our young people's safe return home, immediately !!
We've had the congressional elections, which included reelection of some, and new seats for others, my understanding is the democrat's picked up 31 additional seats, and I say that with a smile :-). We still have a Presidential election coming up soon, so if you are a registered voter please get out there and show your support for your favorite candidate. If you are not registered yet, please get registered, without your vote there can be no change for the betterment of our country. And yes, your vote matters.
As I stated earlier there have been lot that has happen this past year, Gerald LeVert, you will be missed my brother. God has called quite a few of his people to come home
and as you all know when God calls we have to answer. As the year draws to an end, I ask all to look back and reflect on this past year, did you accomplish all that you set out to do, how many to-do's did you finish and how many was left undone? Did your priority's change as the year drew closer to an end? Are they still prevalent or do they matter at all? What gains did you incorporate that will make a difference in the upcoming year in accomplishing your goals? There are many questions that can be asked and perhaps answered, but no matter what it is that you do, where you go,remember to always put God first in all things and all your journeys in all that you do and say will have a pilot that is guaranteed to get you there. Be thoughtful and kind to others, not just your family and friends. Be patient, and most of all teach the children, they are our future, instill in them the values of respect for theirselves and most importantly love, love of self will enable love of others. Too much has happen and we as a people need to come togather to make sure our chidren have a positive furture to look forward to. Your comments are welcome, keep them clean. MERRY CHRISTMAS, GOD BLESS

Caliburex

I come to you with one of my favorite newspapers from central Florida, Orlando to be exact.

This paper not only writes on the national topics, it also gives the reader a sense of what's going on right here at home in central Florida. The Central Florida advocate (www.cfadvocate.com) has inspiring articles, informative newsworthy stories as well as some of the best journalism around.

If you are a business, own your own business, you cannot beat the advertising pricing anywhere. The Advocate Star's editor in chief is Pastor Kevin Seraaj, of Conerstone Baptist Church in Orlando Florida.

Pastor Seraaj and his wife Louise Seraaj also are part of a program that is sweeping the country called Angel Foods Ministry. It is a program designed for any one no matter the income, to supplement their pantry and freezer/refrigerators with high quality food stuffs for one half to a third of the cost. A worthy cause indeed.
<blogitemurl>
</blogitemurl>

Time to give thanks to all the wonderful things that God has place before all of us every day of our lives.....But should we not be giving thanks every moment of everyday ? Why do we need a day dedicated to remind us of our existence, should not the very air that we breath be enough of a reminder that we are here because God has willed it to be so. It does not matter your background, where you hail from, your ethnicity, your race nor your religious or non-religious beliefs. It does not matter the color of your hair, skin or clothing what you wear or don't wear. It has nothing to do with your income level, how much you have or don't have. It has not a thing to do with the new job that you got or didn't get. It is not that new person that has come into your life or the old one that walked out. Are you still inhaling and exhaling? What has last night, or last year got to do with you taking a moment and saying Thank-you..!! For all the good that you put in my life and all the not so good to make me appreciate it. We as human beings need to take a moment and realize that this planet and every thing in and on it was created so that we could give God his glory and his praise. Because with the sacrifice that he made through his only begotten son for us, because he so love us. Take one moment and say Thank you Lord, for all that you have done, for all that you are doing and for all that you have willed to do, thank you for thinking of me.
God bless each and every one of you
caliburex
