Mobile Number Portability (MNP) was launched across India on 20th January 2011 and implemented by all the telecom network operators.
Mobile Number Portability(MNP) is a facility which enables mobile users to retain their Mobile Number when changing from one mobile network operator to another operator, where the user not worried about the change of mobile number.
All are welcome in BSNL , generate UPC code ( Other operator customers) with following Procedure & submit it in nearest Customer Service Center.

Detailed MNP (Mobile Number Portability) Procedure through steps

At first, the customer have to Obtain Unique Porting Code (UPC) by sending an SMS to 1900 in the format ‘Port Space 10 digit mobile number” (Ex:- PORT XXXXXXXXXX) by sending to 1900 in case of J&K pre-paid mobile subscriber to get UPC - call 1900 instead of sending SMS.
UPC allocated to a subscriber shall be valid for a period of fifteen days from the date of request or such time till the number is ported out, whichever is earlier, for all service areas except Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East licensed areas the validity for the UPC shall be for a period of thirty days from the date of request or till such time the number is ported out, whichever is earlier, irrespective of. number of requests the subscriber makes.
After getting of MNP code you have to visit the BSNL CSC (Customer Service Center) / Authorized franchisee / retailer to request for porting of your mobile number. Fill in a CAF (Customer Application Form) with relevant plan and service(2G/3G) and pay the porting fees for processing. (Presently BSNL is not charging any fees for porting into BSNL, Port-in charges will be waived off and actual SIM price will be charged), you will be issued a new BSNL empty SIM card.
Upon approval of porting request, whole Porting process will takes a maximum of 7 days for activation..
You are required to change your SIM card in your handset when the old operator got disconnected the number. Once ported the minimum time to stay in that network is 90 days.
In case of problem you need to contact the Toll free number 1800-180-1503 or 1503 .

How to Register in DND for not Receiving Commercials Communications(SMS OR CALL)

As a telecom customer, you have the option to block all commercial calls and SMS.
For this purpose, you have to register by :--- Dialing Toll FREE number 1909 or Sending SMS to 1909
When you dial the toll free number 1909, you will be prompted to register either through the customer care executive or through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).
You can register for the Fully Blocked category in which NO COMMERCIAL CALL OR SMS will be allowed.
PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION BY DIALING 1909 :
Dial 1909, listen to the instructions and choose one of the following for registration of preference:
Through customer care executive
Through IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System)

REGISTRATION THROUGH CUSTOMER CARE EXECUTIVE: 1.Ask the customer care executive for registration.

REGISTRATION OF PREFERENCE THROUGH SMS You can register your preference(s) for commercial communications by sending an SMS to 1909.

To opt for the fully blocked category, send SMS “START 0” to 1909.
On receipt of request exercised through SMS, BSNL will send an SMS to confirm the options exercised.
You have to send a confirmation SMS so that options exercised are implemented.
On getting the confirmation SMS, BSNL will register your request and send you an SMS indicating your Registration Status.
Registration is completed within seven days of sending SMS by the customer.

NOTE - You may change your preferences for not receiving commercial communications or for receiving selected commercial SMSs, at any point of time after 7 days from the date of registration or 7 days from the date of last change of request.

HOW TO DE-REGISTER FROM THE NATIONAL CUSTOMER PREFERENCE REGISTER (NCPR)
You may de-register yourself from the NCPR using either a voice call on 1909 or through SMS. You will start receiving commercial communications on your telephone after de-registration.

A. DEREGISTERATION BY DIALING 1909 1. Dial 1909, listen to the instructions and choose one of the following to deregister:

Through Customer care executive
Through IVRS(Interactive Voice Response System)

A1. DEREGISTRATION THROUGH CUSTOMER CARE EXECUTIVE:
Call the toll free number 1909 and select to de-register through customer
Ask the customer care executive to deregister you from NCPR.
The customer care executive will accept the request and confirm the same.
You will also get an SMS confirming your deregistration.

A2. DEREGISTRATION THROUGH INTERACTIVE VOICE RESPONSE SYSTEM (IVRS)
Call the toll free number 1909 and select to de-register through the IVRS.
Follow the instructions of the IVRS to get deregistered. The IVRS willconfirm your selection to get deregistered.
You will get a SMS confirming your deregistration.

B. DE-REGISTRATION OF PREFERENCE THROUGH SMS
Send SMS “STOP” to 1909.
You will get a SMS informing you of your deregistration request and
seeking your confirmation through SMS.
Send SMS confirming your request.

BSNL GPRS / Blackberry Settings for Handsets of Various vendors

The customer can use the data services of BSNL over GPRS/EDGE/3G bearer. The data service can be used for HTTP browsing, WAP browsing, downloading or streaming video/audio content and also for sending and receiving MMS. For each of these services an APN (Access Point Name) has to be setup in the customer Handset. The following APNs are now being used:

GPRS setting over SMS :
Customers may send SMS XXX to 58355 to get the GPRS/3G settings. XXX stands for individual keyword for corresponding settings.

Selected settings corresponding to the handset will be pushed to the handset. Customer has to save the settings in the handset. “bsnllive” should preferably be made default setting in the handset.

The settings are also available at website www.cellone.in for downloading to the handsets by the customers. Customer can go to that internet website from the computer and give the mobile number and select the handset. The selected settings will be sent to the handset. These are to be saved.

Manuual GPRS Settings :
The settings corresponding to the handset may be manually set in the handset. The details of Manual settings are given below and are also available in the website www.cellone.in

Setting from BSNL CallCenter :
The settings may also be received from the call centre by dialing 1503. Customers are pushed or guided by them for settings.

Setting on TSD :

“bsnllive” and “bsnlstream” settings will be sent automatically when a new customer inserts the SIM to the handset for the first time or changes the handset.

Setting for Blackberry handset :

“blackberry.net” is the default APN for Web browsing in Blackberry handsets. Settings for blackberry subscribers is pushed by the Service Provider (RIM) as BSNL LIVE, BSNL MMS and BSNL Stream service books and gets automatically saved in the handsets.
