Chanel Summer 2013 Collection

L’ÉTÉ PAPILLON DE CHANEL

This collection was inspired by the gorgeous colors of butterflies! And I totally believe it! I've been studying the life cycle of a butterfly with my students and growing/hatching? butterflies (class pet...?), so we've been looking through book after books of all sorts of butterflies.

I think this is a beautiful, wonderful collection filled with colors that really shine brilliantly against sunlight, just as butterflies do. I love the shimmery shadows, the awesome metallic-y nail polishes and the bright vibrant jelly-ish shades.

I went to Saks yesterday to check out the collection and loved the nail polishes, the cooling awesome shadow sticks and the coco rouge shine lip sticks. I went and swatched some of the shadow sticks (i'm not even kidding, I had to fight some ladies to get these four shades to swatch AHHA!) Top - Bottom in Stylo Eyeshadow: Black Stream, Pink Lagoon, Blue Bay and Cool Gold. I love the formula of these! So slick and easy to put on, blend - yet they stay in place once they set!

Here is a swatch of the Rouge Coco Shine in Pygmalion. I fell in love with this color! Its the perfect watermelon-y color for the summer!!!

I wasn't actually going to pick anything up, but my good friend Rae kept telling me how I must :P and so I did! HAHA! I ended up taking home two little babies :) Here I present you my newest additions to my chanel family (lol): The Stylo Shadow in Moon River and The Rouge Coco Shine in Pymalion!

Happiest Mother's Day!

Happiest Mother's Day to all the mamabears out there. Your tireless love, care and effort really shape your children to become truly beautiful.

This is always a particularly difficult holiday for me to celebrate because I lost my mother when I was 18, but I am thankful now that she has been watching over me for the past almost 10 years.

This has been a completely life changing year for me with a lot of ups and downs, but in the midst of it all, I'm so lucky that I was not only to marry a wonderful, silly man - but that I was married into a wonderful family. I am so blessed to now have another mother that loves me, cares for me and looks after me as if I'm truly her own. God truly loves me abundantly, and I'm so grateful.

Of course, I must end with a Kid President post (love this little man! so cute!) -- and his take on moms <3

Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Sequoia

This was another Le Métier de Beauté product that I received in my Limited Edition Birchbox Set and usually when I get pencil liners, I just toss them in the trash or give them to a friend. With my craptola eyes that are so darn watery and oily, no pencil has ever lasted on my eye.

Anyway, I received the product in Sequoia, which is a beautiful cool brown with no shimmer.

I decided to give this a try because I fell soooo in love with the mascara. Below is a picture of what the liner looks like above my lash line. I love the natural feel of this color and how it just blends in with my lashes. It gives such an effortless defined look! [PS. pardon my gross, creasing concealer! I just slabbed it on to cover my undereyes quick - although now it helped define my creases LOL]

At first, I was having a bit of trouble with using this product on using it as liner...and I don't blame it on the liner, because as I've said, my eyes are particularly fussy. I then asked my luxury cosmetics guru and good friend, Rae, how she would wear it and she recommended using it almost as a base - smudging it and setting it with powder, or actually using it as a base and putting shadow on top for an eye look. UM. YES! Now I am starting to look real good ;)

I LOVE using it as a nice smudgy eyeliner and as a base for eyeshadow! I was so surprised at the easy blend-ability of the product. For sure, I thought because of this - it would be off my eye in a couple of hours (or below my eye! lol!).. but once the product was set, it did a great job of staying put all day. In addition to this, the product did not move or crease! I always have this one area on my eye that always creases (I bet even in the picture above, you can tell where it creases! LOL!), but it did a great job of holding still until I was ready to take my makeup off!

The one gripe I had with this product was that its an old school pencil that I have to sharpen - but I guess that is my only gripe because I needed to go and buy a sharpener HAHA! I do realize why they kept it the way it is because it allows me to draw thin and thick lines depending on what kind of look I am going for... so I guess I'm not that upset over it. :)

Overall, although it was a bit difficult to figure out at first, it definitely works amazingly! I absolutely adore the formula for a smudgy liner look and base. I think it looks so effortlessly chic and I already (aw man...) have the champagne color pencil on my wish list because dang, that color is beautiful. And with the same formula as this, I'm looking forward to smudging it all over my eyelid and showing it off! ha!

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

If you know me, I'm a huge concealer junkie. I've tried them all. I think my obsession stems from wanting to cover my undereye bags. They've grown through the ages and because of my watery and oily eye area, often all concealers, mascaras and liners slide right off my eyes and settle under my eye. *CRIES*

The Cle de Peau concealer is my holy grail concealer because of its creamy yet dry formula that comfortably sits under my eye without budging while providing amazingly pigmented coverage. Unfortunately, at it's $70 price point, I'm always looking for a similar product.

Nothing has come close until I met this little fellow.

This concealer has such a unique texture. It's a liquidy, creamy, non sticky formula - might I even say, it is *almost* a liquid version of the CdP concealer. ;)

Okay, enough typing - let me let the pictures do the talking!

Here is my naked eye. I purposely made it a touch blurry to hide any significant flaws near my eye. HAHA! I feel shy :P

Here's a shot of the concealer spotted all over my eye. Does this look crazy? This is how I actually put concealer around my eye. I spot it everywhere so it has the most even coverage lol.

Here's how the product looks after I use my finger to blend it out:

Here are my eyes, the left with no concealer and my right with concealer. How weird do my eyes look - I have no clue what I was looking at!

I think that the picture tell it all. The coverage is beautiful as is the finish. It does do a great job of brightening my under eye area so I look awake and fresh. The lasting ability is the only part that falls flat on this product. With this product alone, it only lasted a couple of hours before it was gone! I learned that the only way to keep this product on my under eye is if I blot the product with a tissue on my face after I apply the concealer, then set it with a powder. :)

Overall, amazing product. It will be my cheaper holy grail product and I will be ordering this over and over again! for SURE!

OOTD: Beautiful Sunday in AdventureLand

I woke up this morning to the most beautiful weather! So naturally, it made me want to dress up and finally welcome in Spring!

After church, Felix and I decided to go to one of his favorite places (lol), AdventureLand. Adventure Land is a small amusement park - mostly geared toward younger children. Felix doesn't like to go for any rides, but he is wildly obsessed with claw machines (the ones where you pick up toys), so I humor him a bit and go with him as he gets mounds and mounds of stuffed animals.

While I was there - since he tortured me a bit, I decided to do the same to him >:) and I made him take some outfit of the day shots of me! And in these shots, I show you all of the toys he won from the claw machines :P

I've been obsessed with this dress ever since I saw it on Ingrid (missglamorazzi) last year and on the beautiful Tracy & Stef of eleventhgorgeous. I just couldn't bear to pay $168 for it... but lucky me this dress went on sale on gilt for around $69 - so I ordered it right away!

I also love how it pairs with this gorgeous turquoise necklace that was gifted to me by my coworkers for my birthday. It adds just the cutest pop of color while intermingling with the intricacy of the lace! And IMO it pairs nicely with the belt since it helps to cinch my waist without adding too much!

Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Waterproof Mascara Review

Ok. So I'm a convert. A week ago I would've swore to you that my itty bitty asian lashes can ONLY handle asian branded mascaras like Majolica Majorca Expander Frame Plus Mascara and FairyDrops Mascara. Not anymore.

Oh. Anamorphic mascara.. you're beginning to change my life.

So I was lucky enough to get this mascara in a Limited Edition Birchbox Set. I received this product in the color Brownish Black. I have a secret love for dark brown mascara because it makes me feel like I'm giving of this effortlessly natural but glamorous look. :P

Speaking of effortless, the packaging is in this lightweight and convenient package. I appreciate that the casing is clear because you can see the product inside. I don't really like most mascara packaging because I can't see how much is left or if something weird went inside - so I am loving that this one is clear!

It has a standard mascara wand. I'm impartial to this because this type of wand is a bit too large for my short lashes (I'm better of with thinner wands), but with a mascara guard, the wand works wonderfully getting deep into my lashes for a fuller look.

Here is the swatch of the color. I love the brownish black color for a daytime look. I think its the perfect balance. Most brownish black colored mascaras that I have lean too brown and look unnatural with my black hair. This one works nicely!

OK. don't judge me. I'm putting all of my vulnerable, teeny lashes for the world to see. lol :)

So the next three pictures are naked lashes, one coat and two coats. I did NOT curl my lashes beforehand. So you know, my lashes naturally shoot downward, so I ALWAYS have to curl my lashes.

Are you amazed?

Lengthening Ability: WOW. Is all I can say. Usually I need the fiberwig mascaras to give me this sort of length without it falling flat. After the first coat, I was already pretty impressed that the formula could hold my lashes up while making them longer, but the second coat made it look like I'm wearing natural falsies!

Volumizing ability: I think the pictures speak for themselves. I think it gives just the right balance of volume to not become clumpy and goopy.

Lasting Ability: Most mascaras on me give me severe panda eyes and flakiness even after I powder under my eyes and set my mascara with translucent powder. I mean, I KNOW my eyes are water and oily, but come on! haha! This mascara stayed put on my lashes and withheld my workout, my full day errands, etc. until I was ready to take it off.

Curling Ability: This is where I was most shocked. Generally most mascaras fall completely flat within a couple minutes because my lashes get too heavy and can't hold the curl. Only thin formulas such as the MM expander frame can do it because of its thin formula. This formula isn't incredibly thin, but it didn't make my lashes fall! The mascara also actually helped curl my lashes really well! Below is actually a picture of the way it curled my lashes. Just the right amount of curl :)

The one thing I felt like I had to do was wait for the lashes to dry before I try and put anything else on my face (since I'm always in a rush trying to multitask lol). The formula was pretty wet when I put it on and took a bit longer than other mascaras to dry. [If you look at my four eye pictures, you'll see little black dots below my eye. That's because I was trying to put on concealer right after I put the mascara on and I touched my lashes and then my undereye!]

OK... so the best part? Are you ready? My most dreaded part of putting on mascara is taking it off!!!...but the LMdB Anamorphic Mascara doesn't take all the rubbing, tugging, pulling craziness to get off!!!!! I used my AmorePacific Oil cleanser and at first clean, all of it was off! Best surprise ever!

Overall, I am beyond excited that I was able to try this little gem. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about this! The lengthening, curling, volumizing ability in conjunction with the easy to remove formula makes for such an amazing mascara and I all of a sudden feel addicted. I also know they have some sick, amazing colors. I can't wait to get my hands on more of them!

Too Faced La Creme Lipstick Review

It's been a long while now hasn't it. I missed you all so much! Thank you to all my new readers! Sorry I've been gone - I lost my camera after Felix and my wedding, so I've been always scrounging to take pics on whatever camera I could get my hands on. but for my birthday, Felix ended up getting me a new camera! So life is good again! <3

Anyways...

So during the Sephora VIBCHIC sale I decided to pick up a few (or a lot) of things. I've been wanting to get the too faced lipstick for a while now (and at one point had one, but someone "borrowed" it and is now gone CRIES), but put it off since I have so many lipsticks... but I caved!

The packaging is quite nice. It comes in a semi matte gold case that looks gorgeous and feels luxurious since it's a bit weighty. It's nice a compact so it easily fits in my pocket or purse.

Anyway, I was itching to pick up a pretty spring color - so I opted to pick Razzle Dazzle Rose. This is the perfect cool pink color that isnt like OMG SHE'S WEARING NEON, but its not so muted that it looks like your lips - its just balanced enough that it looks like a little pop of color without being "too much" :)

I adore the formula - it's quite pigmented and creamy and the application goes on quite smooth. In the below swatch, you can see the left is one swipe which is beautiful, but the right which has 3 swipes is way more pigmented. This color is lovely and buildable and as you can see from the sheen on these, the feeling is nice and moisturizing on my lips.

Yes. My lips are very dry - so I apologize for the flakiness on my lips. That is not because of the lipstick! lol! The product lasted on my lips for about 2 hours before I had to reapply, but my lips felt mighty moisturized. They didn't flake or feel dry like most lip products for me do.

Overall the product is a wonderful addition to my collection. The pigmentation, packaging and moisturization factor are good enough to make me want to repurchase more and more! :)

50 Random Facts About Me!!

So Lindy - aka - bubzbeauty recently did this tag. I adore this girl so much! She and I have become really good friends and sisters in Christ through the tube and I'm so lucky to know her! I had so much fun watching her video about her 50 random facts and then her 20 extra extension facts lol that I decided I wanted to do this too!

So here goes!

1 - My mom told me that I was named after the little baby Jessica that fell in the well and survived. She swore to me that the name wasn't even popular when I was born.

2 - I was never afraid to write my full name on youtube because there are so many Jessica Lees in this world. I shared the same name with 3 other girls in my graduating undergraduate class.

3 - I'm 26, but anytime anyone asks how old I am, I always believe I'm three years younger. The other day I told someone I was 23. That is completely wrong.

4 - I have a huge phobia of organic looking dots. I can't. I get goosebumps all over my body when I see any sort of dots and then I get more goosebumps because I look at my goosebumps... which look like organic looking dots.

5 - I love ketchup. so much. When I was younger, I used to keep packets of ketchup in my bag - JUST incase I needed it.

6 - The only time I ever chose 'dare' when I played truth or dare with friends, I had to kiss a dirty toilet seat and I spent the night throwing up. ugh - must've kissed fecal matter. such a dumb sixth grader.

7 - I kinda ran out of ideas for random facts, so I actually referred back to my XANGA because I remembered that I did a tag similar to this a long time ago... (omg)

8 - I have shrunken middle toes (its genetic!) and I'm highly embarrassed of them! :(

9 - I knew I've always wanted to be a teacher since I was young. I actually stole a board eraser from church (haha sinner!), would finish my homework at school (smarty pants) and just lock myself in my room during homework time and just use chalk to write on my desk door to pretend I was teaching someone.

10 - This is so gross. One of my favorite things to do is scratch my head and smell my fingers to see how dirty my hair is. HAHAHHA. o m g.

11 - When I was young, I used to fall off my bed (a lot). My dad bought me one of those bed stoppers and I used to pretend that I was in a hospital and that people were visiting me.

12 - I have one sister and she's my best friend, but she used to be really mean to me when we were young... I shall dedicate the next couple to telling you JUST how mean she was.

13 - I used to have an OBSESSION with Mariah Carey. Like I would cry watching her live in concert kinda obsession. In fifth grade, I couldn't go to my dad's "take your daughter to work day" but my sister went. She came back with a printed pic of Mariah Carey that was signed saying that Mariah Carey came to dad's work and that she was the best sister and got me an autographer. I was so thankful. I taped it on my wall and KISSED it like 3x a day. Weeks later my sister came back into my room and said, 'why do you still have that up? don't u know i just printed it out at dad's work and signed it myself?!' (should have known since my dad does computer programming.... LOL)

14 - One time when I was in kindergarten, I got sick and I wasn't allowed to eat anything. My sister was having dinner and was eating so slowly in front of my face and rubbing it in. Then she sneezed and some rice came out of her mouth. I was so hungry and mad at her that i grabbed the rice and ate it. (omg.)

15 - I have an obsession with squeezing black heads - but when I do that, it gives me goosebumps because they look like organic dots. lol.

16 - I cannot have anyone hear me fart. I've only let it slip out accidentally twice - and those times still haunt me.

17 - I have a fear that when I pee in the public restrooms that someone is going to open the door on me so I always use my hands to lean on the door. If I can't do that because the toilet is too far away I stare at the door - any sudden movement, I stop pee flow and stand up to pull up my pants.

18 - I ALWAYS squat when I pee in public places. Once in a while when I am really tired to squat (I can't believe I'm writing this.), I stand on the toilet seat and squat all the way down. LOL.

19 - If you tell me you are nervous about something, I automatically become nervous about it too.

20 - I have a dimple on my right upper cheek. I hate it so much. When I was young, I used to practice smiling so you couldn't see it. Now I have a very consistent smile that never shows my dimple.

21 - Anytime I am alone, I put on high heels and then I sing and belt like I am a superstar... which clearly I am not.

22 - I was in an a cappella group when I was in college and I still believe that was one of the biggest blessings I could've had in my college career. I met some of my bestest friends there.

23 - I have perfect pitch. I can only hear it through piano though. So when someone plays me a note on a different instrument - my brain has to translate it to a piano sound before I can tell you if it is the right note, wrong note or what note it is.

24 - Even though I do a lot of nail tutorials - I have really crappy nails. Its from years of biting them from being nervous. lol.

25 - I love to be emo. When I am not emo, I like to listen to emo music and feel emo. Is that weird?

26 - I busted my butt to go to some of the top schools for education while paying big big bucks and now I'm contemplating leaving the field because the stress of APPR and student testing has everyone miserable. Wow. That's probably the first time I've ever said that out loud.

27 - I am a hoarder. Except no, really I am.

28 - If I could do one hobby every day - it would be to sing karaoke.

29 - If I could eat one type of cuisine every day for the rest of my life it would be japanese because I love sushi so much... but if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be potatoes (with ketchup of course)

30 - I am affected by caffeine really badly. If I drink any caffeine I'm either jittery, my heart beats faster or I'm up all night. I had two cups of tea and a bubble tea tonight. I'm doomed - especially since it's also day light savings tonight haha!

31 - If I could meet anyone in the world, it would be ellen degeneres. I think she and I would make great friends.

32 - I got married to a cuckoo man the saturday after hurricane sandy. The day I got married, we still didn't have power at the house - yet it was the biggest blessing. I had a week off to do wedding things (even though we had no power), our videographer was able to come extended hours - and everything that I was worried about was placed in God's hands. He worked miracles and it was the perfect day!

33 - I was toilet trained by my sister. She would sit on the toilet and say "THIS is how you pee" lol.

34 - I love fruits so much. One time after my family got back from a fruit farm, I pooped red and my parents FREAKED out. They took me to a doctor and they all found out that I was sneaking around and eating too many strawberries on the farm.

35 - Even when I was young, my ass was big. My mom would put me in leggings/tights all the time and they would always have holes in the crotch because the seams couldn't handle my fat ass. I still wore them though - holes and all.

36 - I think convertibles are the coolest things in the world. When I was in High School, I was on the homecoming court and we got to ride in convertibles and wave to everyone in the parade. That was my one and only time in one. It was SO fun.

37 - I have really good lip syncing skills because when I was young, I would listen to songs that I love over and over again and practice lip syncing them... just incase one day I was going to be in a music video and I would have to lip sync. lol.

38 - I started youtube videos because I loved to watch LUSH hauls. I became obsessed with LUSH and wanted to make hauls and bath cocktails... and thus began jessicalee422.

39 - I'm bad at being creative about usernames. I ONLY used my name because I felt like I didn't love anything enough to make it a username. So my usernames were always jessleexxx, xoxojessleexoxo, jessishott1 (lol wow vain yes), Xxjessleexx and of course... jessicalee422... HAH

40 - I have an internal clock (just like you lindy!!) It wakes me up 3 minutes before my alarm... if it's something that I'm nervous about, it wakes me up every 10 minutes for 3 hours before I have to wake up lol.

41 - Although people only really like to watch my nail and hair tutorials on my channel, I find I'm most knowledgeable at reviewing products because I use so many cosmetics that I have so many things to compare products with.

42 - My favorite position to sit in is lying on my back, with one foot on the ground (knee up) with my other leg crossed over. Felix says its my buddha position. haha!

43 - Felix and I both have thick and huge eyebrows. I'm convinced our children are doomed. I will also not tolerate my child with a unibrow.

44 - My armpits sweat so much. When I was younger they would sweat so bad. One time my periwinkle shirt turned light pink at the pits because i put too much deodorant and my pits sweat so much.

45 - I met Felix in the church that I grew up in. We are always reminded of how God works wonders and miracles in our lives.

46 - One time in college I had a dream that my roommate was shaking water in my face. When I woke up, I was drenched because I left the window open and it was raining.

47 - I'm so lucky and blessed that I started a youtube and blog to express my creative side. I know a LOT of people that always talk about doing it - but I'm so glad I did. I met some of the best people on here and am forever thankful.

48 - I don't put my face in any of my videos because Felix prefers that I live a quiet and private life (and I do as well, but it was his idea). Although I prefer it, sometimes I wish I put my face out there so I could do fun tags like the 5 minute make up challenge! haha!

49 - I have a secret love for the scent of gas and basements... HAHA.

50 - Throughout life, I'm so thankful for a gracious God who gave me a wonderful husband, family and friends. God is so so good to me and I am forever and amazed.

I'm so happy this is over! This was kinda hard...!!!!! Thanks for doing this lindy so I could do this! I can't wait to be reunited with you in July so I can squish you and bid you happy blessings for your wedding soon! love you muchos! <3

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal

New Color! New Color!!!! I absolutely adore these Fresh lip treatments so much. like. SO much. I used to go through the original treatment so quickly because I used to be obsessed with the sugar lemony scent and the buttery, smooth, moisturizing and long lasting balm.

And now they have a new color! This is called Petal and its said to be a sheer pink petal color.

How amazing is this case!? I think these are my favorite balm cases because they look sleek and amazing, while having a twist of cap! and I especially love that this one is PINK!!!!

Although it is a bit similar to the Honey (which is a warm nude), it does lean more pink.

let's not judge how extremelllly dry and chapped my lips are and the blemishes on my face! :P

Directly after I put the balm on, it added such a beautiful wash of color. I would say it looks very similar to honey - but with a pink color. I suppose because it was called 'pink petal' - i expected it to be a little bit lighter of a color. but nonetheless - i'm still obsessed! I actually thought honey was a bit too brown for me - so this one is PERFECT!

Overall - best treatment color because it iss such a beautiful every day color! I am definitely keeping this in my bag and wearing it everyday for a my lips are AMAZING colored ;)

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss

I've heard some rave reviews about this product, so I wanted to give it a shot. These new CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses that state to be a base coat, polish and top coat all in one while lasting up to seven days! The do it all polish!!

Now I'm intrigued by this, partially because I love long lasting polishes, cheap prices, but also because I'm lazy as hell - so if I can skip steps, I will try it out for sure.

I picked up Forever Frosted because I always look for the perfect everyday polished color... a "bridal" color, if you will. And let me tell you - it did a great beautiful application in two coats, but I did three coats because I love very opaque polishes. The polish is extremely shiny after application. My sister and I both wore the same color and she wanted to put on top coat, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference between either of our polishes.

So far I've had this polish on my nails for 3 days and a couple of hours and I still don't have one chip yet - only a teeny nix i had when I was trying to multitask when the polishes were wet.

It seems to be a wonderful polish and I'm glad they have a 45 range of shades! I'm looking forward to trying more colors - so pretty :)

Loreal Wet Shine Stain - Dupe to YSL?

So many of you kept asking me if (well i purchased these a long time ago but forgot to post it whoops) loreal stains are dupes to my beloved YSL glossy stains.

I'm here to tell you - nope, they are certainly not!

As a product in itself - it is not terrible. There are some flaws with it (as there are with any product) and don't perform amazingly on my lips... but if you compare them with the YSL glossy stains they fall flat... by a lot.

So here is the product :) and let me walk you through my thoughts!

Here is what the packaging looks like - i have to admit. I love the packaging. I think it looks chic and is practical!

I also enjoy this doe foot applicator. It's similar to the YSL one and it can hold a lot of product. so i quite appreciate it. I honestly can't even tell you what color this is because I returned it back to the store, but for me it looks as if it'll perform as a pretty milky pink - slightly coral color.

Here's what the color looks like. It is the stripe that is on the left going vertical. On the right side are the two swatches of my YSL glossy stains - 27 (peche) on top and 29 (rose) on bottom. As you can see, it looks VERY similar to the color on top. #27 on me does look like a pretty coral color - and I would hope that this color would look similar.

Here she is on my lips. . . I mean, yes, it's a nice color. A pretty stained, jelly almost rose-ish color. NOTHING like what it looks like on my swatch or in the tube. In fact, I find that I have a lot of colors that are very similar to this. The texture itself did feel slightly like the YSL glossy stain, but it wasn't as tacky and doesn't feel as thick. It feels more slick and glossy.

THIS is the reason I returned it. I mean, I know my lips are slightly chapped - but not THAT chapped haha. The stain ended up falling deep within the lines of my lips and created this horrible splotchy coloring, which made me feel so sad! The worst part was that I couldn't even get it off HAHAHAHAHA! I ended up putting on a darker color lipstick on to mask it.

This is actually what made me laugh at the end. After a bit of time, here are the stains that the lip products left behind. The loreal stain ended up looking like the rose color on the bottom! nothing like the peach color on top! isn't that bizarre?

So if you've never tried a YSL glossy stains and think you're getting a bargain here, the product doesn't perform like it although it does have hints of similarities. IMO, I think it is well worth it to pay the extra 20 dollars to get a YSL glossy stain for better colors, texture, evenness and long lastingness.

The Loreal lip stains aren't horrible, perhaps it is just the color that i picked, or my lips.. - in fact I like the packaging and i like the fact that the texture isn't quite as thick, but you have to make sure you have very exfoliated and even lips before you think to try this product on :)

Nails of the Day

As Felix and I were waiting for Time Warner to come to our place, I decided to jazz up my nails. And because we were waiting for a kinda long time (arrived 640 when they were blocked to come between 4-6, we were waiting since 4 just incase) my nails kept getting more and more fabulous ;) Here's the final outcome! hehe, I know! Finally a look on my real nails!!!

New YSL Glossy Stains in #27 and #29

If you've read my previous posts on the YSL Glossy Stains, you will know I am obsessed. Although many of the colors aren't my typical "every day" colors, I still loved them.

YSL came out with 4 new spring colors. From what I could gather on sephora's swatches, one is baby peach, a rose, a redish purple and a deeper purple color. I though OMG the peach and rose look like more 'every day wear!' i MUST get it to try.

OMG. How I do not regret it ONE BIT.

but here, I am going to share with you two more of the colors. And honestly, I'm SO glad they added these to the collection because I cannot stop wearing them.

*please excuse the spot near my lip. there was a cut there because after my facialist cleaned my face, the next day i used the st ives apricot scrub and it was a bit rough -- now i have a scab! lol. (its better now though AHHA)

#27 Peche Cerra Cola is now my absolute FAVORITE glossy stain. It is the perfect peachy color for my lips and I love the way it looks like a perfect coral as a stain. I have this in my bag, and literally, I can't stop wearing it!!! It's a perfect 'every day lip' product for me!

After about 45seconds of smudging my lips :) How pretty is this color!

This leaves a slightly 'orange' color (as you could see from the stain swatch above) which translates to a coral stain :)

#29 Rose Forreau is a beautiful rosey strawberry color. I wouldn't wear this every day but its perfect for a date night or for when you need a slight pop of color. Although I do believe this color is very dupable, it is still a gorgeous color and the YSL texture is so unique, to me it is still worth it!

again, placed on sloppily so you can see the color it is when it is first placed on the lips!

i love this color as well. its a warm strawberry color! its such a beautiful stain!

Although i do not have a picture of it, this stains to just a slightly bitten color. This looks beautiful, especially if you have 'dead lips' like I do. hahaha!

I highhhhly recommend you go pick these up!
if I had to recommend one, i'd definitely say to pick up #27!

Wedding OOTD

We just got our wedding pictures back and I made sure to ask my amazing photographer, Albert, if he could make sure to get pictures of my outfit so you all could see who/what I was wearing.

It was such a magical day and I can't wait to finish sifting through the photos to unveil everything that happened and take you along with me on this amazing journey.

So here was my OOTD on Nov 3, 2012. It was a very windy and cool day... and you definitely wouldn't have known.. you also would have never known that Hurricane Sandy had just passed through as well!

I wore a Monique Lhuillier lace gown. I picked it up at a Kleinfeld's Sample Sale! I was so lucky to find such a gem at a sale :)

My sash was custom made by Kacey H from Twisted Crystal - the design was EXACTLY what I was looking for and she was so careful and everything was so thoughtfully made. Each belt is handmade with a bajillion swarovski and pearly beads. So magical! Sashes are SO expensive, but she can help you fit your budget (by adding/taking out beads etc). Every penny gone to this sash was totally worth it! Thank you Kacey!! :)

My bracelets are from Stella & Dot - I picked this up when I was with Wendy and she recommended I stack a couple of them together to make a statement with my wrist candy. I'm so glad I have a lil guru to help me out because I LOVED the way this bracelet added fullness and fun to my outfit!

My high heeled shoes are from Kate Spade. These babies added so much sparkly fun to my life and really made me feel like I was walking on a party. They are totally my style and were super comfortable!

When it was time to kick off my heels and change into more comfortable shoes, I wore these custom made shoes made by my husband! He surprised me with a pair of aldo flats and he took small swarovski pink crystals and glued them on the shoe one by one. He said one shoe had over 1500 crystals!!! Isn't he a keeper!?!!

My good friend Melissa Chiu Wang who is a fashion designer helped design and make this gorgeous removable piece. She knew that I sometimes feel a little bit self conscious about strapless dresses and didn't want to wear another dress since my wedding dress was a good chunk of money - so she helped to devise a plan to build this for me. I absolutely adored how romantic and comfortable it made me feel! AND i loved how it was removeable!

The necklace is a borrowed piece from my sister, who wore this custom made diamond necklace on her wedding day <3

Mel also made my veil which was beyond my wildest dreams. I told her how i loved scalloped detailing and how I loved lace, but I dont like when its so heavy looking. She delicately sewed a scalloped lace border that tapered off as it got closer to the top so it was just enough lace.

My ceremony hair piece was also custom made by a great childhood friend, Laura who is the owner, designer and maker of all amazeballs jewelry at prismera. I showed her a picture of hair pins that I liked and she totally exceeded all my expectations by making this romantic, delicate and just enough fancy/bling piece.

My reception feather piece was made by WeeGardens. I wanted a blush colored hairpiece and thought a feather might add some fun!

lastly, is my face. My favorite part of my face? My eyelashes - I think that they were just subtle enough to look natural but full enough to make my eyes look bigger and more beautiful! I absolutely adore these velour lashes in you complete me! They are mink lashes that are my all time favorites!

As for my makeup - all of the makeup was done by me, so it was my every day makeup that I knew I loved:

Out of all foundations - expensive and cheap, I ended up going with the Revlon ColorStay Whipped foundation. Isn't that ironic?!

Shadows: Mac - naked lunch, blackberry, carbon

Eyeliner: dolly wink eyeliner

Concealer: cle de peau

Blush: Nars Douceur and deep throat

Lips: Shiseido lip lacquer in 203

HOLIDAY NAIL POLISH!

It is that time of year where its time to whip out fantastically holiday-ish fun... especially on your nails! When I think of holiday - I automatically think of holiday colored glitter (especially GOLD!)

Kirsten, owner and maker of allthatglitters nail polish was kind enough to send me her whole holiday collection of polish. Holy SHMOLY, it was like christmas blew up in the best kind of way.

Unfortunately, after my wedding I lost my camera. I know it is somewhere at my dad's house amidst all of the stuff that was thrown together and packed, I just have yet to find it. I was also scared I wouldn't have time to borrow my sister's fancy camera in time to show you these awesome polishes.

Therefore, I had to resort to using my iphone and jazzing them up in instagram form.

Here they are in all of their glory (i'm only missing one which will be in a giveaway on my youtube channel soon!). How fun do they look altogether?! <3

The swatches below are all on fake french nails. This way you can personally see the opacity of each color with two coats of polish.

Here is cool yule which is my favorite out of the bunch. It's a gorgeous opaque light blue with medium size, circular glitters in blue, purple and a teal. It reminds me of glittering snow!

Here's Pinch of Grinch, which is surprisingly fun. It's a metallic green with small silver, green and red glitter, medium hexagonal darker green and red glitter and an occasional fun YELLOW STAR!!! I always get so excited when a star comes out! Although this is gorgeous alone, as you can see - it is not completely opaque, but when it is layer over an opaque color the green REALLY stands out. (i put it on top of a black color and it was FANTASTIC)

I LOVE THIS NAME! <3 Here is eggnog wasted which is effortlessly fun! It's a creamy white-ish base with teeny gold glitters, small red and copper-ish glitters and green flecks! This is like a party on your fingers! Although you can still see my french tip base underneath the polish, I think with one more coat, the opacity would be perfect. I love how all of her polishes evenly distributes all the fun glitter so you aren't crazy worried everytime you paint your nails.

Let me preface this by saying in no angle did any picture do this polish justice. It's so holigraphically fun! Its a silver base with all sorts of iridescent, holigraphic fun in small glitter, hexagon shapes, squares etc! I've seen swatches of this being completely opaque silver, but mine seems quite sheer. I put this top single coat of my silver Xtreme hardware (sally hansen) polish and it was SO FUN. I think this color on top of different bases would really help the iridescent sparkles really stand out.

Wedding Teasers!

I sometimes forget to tell you guys how lucky and blessed I am. Sometimes I think about my wedding day and remember just how much God loves us. We heard of how people had to cancel their wedding days, how some people's wedding venues were gone, yet I dont know how, but everything fell perfectly into place for us.

I was a bit stressed out wedding week... even though Hurricane Sandy came and took out our power for 10 days, it also gave me 5 days off of school (leading up to the wedding). It allowed me to prep things I needed to prep, spend extra time on things I was worried about, etc. Everywhere in the town our wedding was going to be in had no power, yet when we called the church, it had power (because they had just built underground power) and the venue was fine! The only hiccup was so minor, because I had ordered the centerpiece vases weeks ago because our local michaels didn't have 18 in stock, and it was scheduled to arrive the monday of the hurricane. Obviously by Thursday, it still hadn't showed up. So my good friend Mel and I decided to just go to Michaels and pick up any vases, because at that point, it didn't matter what type of vases we had as long as we had them! When we got there, there were EXACTLY 18 of the vases I needed.

Everything ran smoothly and perfectly because God's hands were on us... protecting us and loving us. We could not be more grateful.

We were also so blessed because we have one of the best photographers, Albert Cheung. He is personable, kind, and truly wants to understand what your vision is for the day. He was so easy to work with and really went out of his way for you. You see, our cinematographer lived in brooklyn and because of the gas shortage didn't have a way of getting out to our wedding site. So Albert DROVE out to brooklyn to pick her up and to come back to long island. He really is a gem and SUCH a talent, and I would highly recommend him for any photography needs. He's like a little chameleon with his work. Ok enough jabber... let me let the pictures tell you.

Spelling Words

Every week we have the kids write their spelling words on index cards so they can study them for their spelling quizzes on Friday. I promise, these are NOT the words we gave him . . .

eeps. man his studying would be bad if i didn't review them with him! lolz
