Haywood County Home Builders Association Home and Garden Expo, October 11th and 12th.

Saturday and Sunday, October 11 & 12, the Haywood County Home Builders Association is sponsoring a Home and Garden Expo at the Old Armory on Boundary Street in Waynesville. The hours for the Expo are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. Local Folk Singers, Bryan and Emma McDowell, will provide the featured entertainment Saturday evening.

An exposition where Builder & Associate Members of the home building industry display their products and services. Outside vendors are also welcome. Open to the general public. $1.00 admission charge. Live entertainment all day on Saturday, with the McDowells @ 5:00 p.m., plus excellent food on site, door prizes, & more.

Below is a Press Release from the Haywood Community Band which was sent to me by a ‘virtual’ friend who reads my Haywood County blog. Her name is Kathleen Wright, and she is an artist in Alabama who always has ‘Carolina on her mind!’ Visit her on her great website: Southern Artistic Touch! PRESS RELEASE FROM THE HAYWOOD COMMUNITY BAND The Haywood Community Band announces its final concert of the Maggie Valley Concert Series. This FREE concert will be held on Sunday, October 19, at 6:30 PM at the pavilion which is adjacent to the Maggie Valley Town Hall. The theme for this concert will be Sugar and Spice - A Concert By, For, and About Women. In addition to a trumpet trio played by the female members of the brass section, the band will feature music such as, Women of the Podium, Carmen, My Fair Lady, and the Girl from Ipanema. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy a beautiful Maggie Valley sunset. Refreshments will be available before and during the concert. As we prepare for our final concert of the season, the band appreciates the generous support of our audience and the Maggie Valley Civic Association, sponsor for the concert series. In addition, we appreciate the media who have supported us with the announcements of our concerts.

The Leaves Are Changing in Maggie Valley and Waynesville!

Early morning temperatures in the 30’s last week here in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina have prompted the leaves to start their show, exhibitionists that they are. This photo was taken in Maggie Valley Sunday (October 5th). Waynesville is also being painted with spectacularly vibrant leaves, so fire up your Airstream, or your old man, and head to the mountains to catch the show.
