FREE Green Giant Veggies at Jewel

I went to Jewel this morning to take advantage of the GM $20/$5 deal and get some veggies and Grands buscuits and made a wonderful discovery. Not only did I get back my $5 coupon, the lovely catalina machine spit out 3 $1 coupons as well. There is an overlapping Catalina deal, or what couponers like to refer to as a double dip. There's the $20/$5 GM plus there's a Green Giant catalina for $1 coupon for every 3 boxes you purchase. So I bought 10 of the Green Giant frozen boxed vegetables, had $2.50 in coupons and got back $8. This is a HOT deal with Wednesday 9/9 (tomorrow) being the last day. You can get coupons for the Green Giant boxed vegetables at the following location.

I so excited to get all these free veggies. My freezer was low and I'd been looking for a good deal. Now, after doing this deal 4 times, I'm all stocked up again. Hope many of you will be able to take advantage also.

Cheap Chicago Tribune

If you live in the Chicagoland area, there is a promotion now to get the Sunday Chicago Tribune for $.99/week. That's pretty cheap for coupons and I've found that the Trib many times has better coupons than the smaller local paper. $.99 a very small investment and I save far more in coupons that what I spend on the paper.

We've got another catalina deal this week. Remember, catalina is the machine connected to the register that prints coupons based on your purchases. This one you get $10 back on a $25 purchase of selected products. Today I got 14 packages of Hunt's Pudding 4-packs for $2!!! How? Well as, I've mentioned before, these catalina's work on the before prefered price. So in the case of the pudding, they are $1.90 before prefered and $1 on sale with your preferred card. So the $1.90 goes toward your $25 requirement while you're actually paying $1 out of pocket. 14 x $1.90 = $26.60. That gives us our $25 requirement. With your prefered card you're actually paying $14. Then you get 2 $5 catalina coupons back for your next purchase. And I happened to have 2 $1 coupons I printed a while back. So when you factor in the $10 you get back, it comes to $2. If you try some of these "pre-preferred card" deals, make sure you check and double check your math as prices sometimes vary from store to store.

Now if you read that a couple times and are still confused, don't try it this way yet. $10 back on a $25 purchase is still a pretty good deal. The folks over at Couponers Wanted have put together a spreadsheet here with everything included in the deal. There are more things triggering the catalinas than just what's in the ad. Huggies.com has posted a new coupon for $2 off a package of Pullups. This will be a good one to use for Kmart doubles this week. It says one per household, but seems to work like the other Bricks coupons and I was able to print 2 using the back button. You do need to either have or sign up for a Huggies account to access the coupon. But if you have kiddos in diapers, you should do that anyway as they'll send you coupons in the mail and to your email.

I know I posted about the Jewel deals last week, but there are a couple that I wanted to spell out a little better for you because they're too good to miss out on.

Jewel is running there $30/$15 deal. What does this mean, you buy $30 in selected product and you get $15 in coupons to use on your next purchase. Now what they don't tell you in the ad is that this $30 is BEFORE PREFERED CARD DISCOUNT! That means if a box of ceral is $3.29 before card and $2 after card, you're paying $2 out of pocket for it, but getting $3.29 toward your $30 total. So here's the deals you want to take advantage of. There's only 2 more days to do so.

Cereal (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cookie Crips, and Honey Kix)

You'll want to stick with these 3 because they have a higher prefered card price. If you go with something else, the math may not work and you might not get your $15.

Print out any of the following coupons. You can print 2 of each per computer. You'll need enough for 10 boxes of cereal to do this deal. Print more and you can do multiple transactions:

When I was at Strack & Van Til today, I headed toward the back of the store for Milk and OJ and saw a brightly colored yellow cardboard schoolbus Nabisco display. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but boxes holding those lovely $55 coupon books I've been looking for in the mail. With the Kraft Deal, I was elated to get one of these in my hot little hands. And as I usually do when I see coupons in a store, I grabbed a couple extra. So I've decided to share. How I got $177 worth of groceries for -$2

Yes, you read it right? $177 worth of grocerys for negative $2. Acutally if I'd done my transactions differently, I probably could have gotten it for a little less. But I'm still learning to take the fullest advantage of these catalina deals too, and frankly, the deals this week almost made my head hurt thinking them thru. And I still didn't do too shabby, so I'm certainly not going to complain. Why am I bragging? Well, it feels pretty good to have done so well for my family, but also because I want you to see that you can do it too. Jill Cataldo has a great post here that you should check out if you want to try to get a piece of the pie this week at Jewel.

No picture of my bountiful budget blessing as most of it's already put away. But here's what I got using 5 transactions:

I took advantage of the but $30 and get $15 for your next purchase offer at Jewel this week. I started with $15 in catalina's from last week. Each trasaction was $30 before Preferred Savings, then I added in my mfg coupons and catalinas to bring the cost way down. Then used the Catalina's I got back for the next transaction. I'm actually planning on going back this week to get more cereal. If you're thinking "I'd never use that much cereal" that particular deal ends up being a Freebie ($20 for the cereal minus $5 mfg = $15 and get $15 back in catalinas) So if it's more than you can use, consider giving it to someone who's having a tough time or your local food pantry. There are so many people in need right now, it should be easy to find a good use for it.

There are supposed to be 3 inserts in this Sunday's paper. 2 Smart Source and 1 Red Plum. There's some that can be used with the Kraft deal at Jewel, so you might want to hold off on that until you get your coupons. The deal is on until I think the 28th.
