Kitchen paint colors. ( except the tan color )

I promise, I will be back very soon. A lots been happening over here. A LOT. Among a cranky toddler getting in tons more toofers and everyone going through their monthly colds here we have been organizing, painting ( lots more painting this weekend ), plus a few things being done to the house like a new furnace last week, tomorrow a few ( yup a few, not all but a few, it's a start ) new windows, etc. I have so much to share and show you and I cannot wait!

Lots of changes to come here at Bugaboos Creations as well, bigger projects, how tos, lots of organizing tips for smaller homes ( like ours ), how to make the not so perfect home your kind of perfect with little to no money.

Our house is a much older home, it was the one we could get and we were so sick of renting after 7+ years we jumped on it. We are a family of 4, it's basically a 2 bedroom ( the master bedroom more suited as a closet ), 1 bath house, galley style kitchen, no garage, unfinished basement, etc. It has newer laminate wood ( which isn't even that wonderful looking ) flooring, and new kitchen cabinets when we moved in and that was about all the new we got. The walls are the old sheet rock kind, there is missing trim here and there, everything except the upstairs needed paint, the bathroom was way gross and hasn't changed since we moved in, ( almost 2 years ago ) until now, the living room/dining room was just odd, it's one huge room that is all open to each other and very difficult, the dining half is larger than the living room half, there is next to no wall space as it's broken up with doorways and windows, the living room had an odd little room that was open off of it and we did add a wall there with french doors, which is now my craft room, our bedroom is so tiny and hideous, no flooring ( yea really ), it had carpet but was nasty and had to be ripped up so now there is nothing still, there is basically room for a bed ( not really ), and a dresser.

Anyway, lots of little things are needed to be done here and there and that's what we have been working on. We cannot afford to do any major renovations at all, and after renting for 7+ years we are tired of not being able to make it ours. You don't have to have a ton of money and you don't have to completely overhaul and gut that hideous bathroom to make it your kind of Beautiful and I am going to show you just that. I completely changed my bathroom that had cracked walls full of holes, the bottom half of the wall was tiled and awful, and it's completely different now and all for under $40 and it could have been free had I not needed a shower curtain, and had I stuck with the free paint I already had.

My sis!!!

I planned this post for last week but that didn't happen either as my lil sis came to visit for a week and she kept my busy and wore me out! Her and my two little nieces stayed with us and we had a blast!! I miss her already and hate that we live so far apart :(

New headers, and Some signs....

I know I'm horrible. It's been a blah week, ever have those? I love my little blog and get so excited to post things as they come up but this week has just been blahhhh! Not about my blog, just nothing that I felt worthy of posting, blah with my crafting. It's just been an off week. Anyways I am back. I promise I will have all my organizing posts caught up by Monday. You will be sick of me before the week starts :) I shouldn't promise but I am. Anywho. I have done like zero crafting except for a few little things. I do have some goodwill redos to share soon. I hit up the goodwill a couple of weeks ago for the first time since this summer! They have missed me tons I'm sure of it.

Meet my newest obsession....signs. They are so easy, fun, and the possibilities are endless! I really liked this one not sure about the big pink letters but it's still cute? I used a turquoise color to paint it, sanded it down around the edges then went over it with minwax walnut stain and wiped it down. Now let me just say I recently finally just started using minwax and I like it however some things it seems a little much and it sure does not wipe off much. It says to leave it on 3 minutes then wipe uh no, I wipe immediately or none of it would come off. Anyone? Am I alone?

This sign I made by tearing up a piece of sccrapbook paper that has old looking bookprint on it ( make my heart go pitter patter, love this paper ) and then I cut letters with my cricut on cardstock and used them as stencils, then sanded some more over the letters.

These blocks are bigger than my normal, 5x5. I really love the colors on this. I don't do much decorating for Valentines Day but found the prettiest vintage valentines papers I couldn't resisit. I stink at embellishing and that is something I am working on. I have so many wonderful ideas and images in my head but when it comes to putting it together I stink.

Completely off topic I made this header for my other blog. What do you think? I am pretty proud of it. The only thing borrowed is a the free frame and heart that came together from Cutest Blog on the Block ( love them by the way ) the rest I put together on a couple of different editors one being picnik.com

This one I was playing around trying to create my own for this blog. It's not there yet, I need new pictures as in I need to make some cuter stuff to put in the header. And it needs more embellishing which again I stink at. I just got a new header but really am thinking I want one with my photos in it and more me? Not sure what I want half the time. I am so obsessed with changing my blog around until it feels perfect to me.

Last but not least, isn't he freaking precious??? We were at grams and gramps and he was sportin papas hat. So adorable!! Ohhh and he is totally walking now! He's been steppin but while we were there he was walking for bananas lol. Literally.

That's all, I know I stink. Ohhhh hey, Notice I am now www.BugaboosCreations.com , yippee!! I bought the domain almost a year ago and finally switched it over. Go me.

Cheap and Easy Storage Containers...Plus a few Household Tips..

I am a freak for all things storage ( not that I am good at organizing it all ), I LOVE baskets, boxes, plastic containers, you name it, love em. I especially love when they are cheap! They can be used virtually anywhere around the home to organize or contain something. As I posted here before I am working on getting my house organized by the end of February, now I know I have done horribly at posting my updates and such but I promise it's coming along.

After Halloween I bought a bunch of these at Big Lots on clearance for .30 each as they were 90% off. I knew they could be prettied up and used around the house for odds and ends.

I cute squares of wrapping paper out. The wrapping paper I had bought 50% off before Christmas at Hobby Lobby as it's not Christmasy and I knew I could use it on alot of projects. I got a huge roll for like $2. Anyway....

Using modge podge of course I basically wrapped it like a present and smoothed it all out. ** Hint if when using modge podge you end up with bubbles in the end, don't stress my friends, let it dry then go over it with a hair dryer while smoothing it out. Works for me. Just don't get it to close :) My containers had the little scallop edges around the top, I just lightly pushed down on the paper after gluing it down to get the scallop look. Also don't be a dummy like me, make sure your paper is plenty oversized when gluing it on so when you fold it into the inside it covers up the ugliness in there that you see.

The inside if the cluttery little mess in the entertainment center....

No moreeee....and it's pretty. I covered all 4 of them I had and they fit perfectly inside here and are great to house the remotes, gaming junk, and some misc. dvds that lost their cases. Also I will probably go back and give the outside a coat of modge podge so they hold up better. Four pretty storage containers for under $2 and an hour of my time. If your like me and on a strict budget and can't spend the money on expensive, pretty matching conatiners. Something like this is perfect. They can be pretty, functional, and very affordable.

Now this is a 2 for one post, haha. Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick is having a So Fresh So Clean Party and if you haven't already you must stop over to see the pics of her and her bff dyson. Love it! Plus I have had so much fun going through all the links to the party and have learned so many great tips and tricks. I don't have to many but here is a few.

1. This one may sound a ~~bit~~ ok a lot insane but it works. Our poor stroller from our first little guy had sat outside and was abused, sadly it was a very nice stroller. So one day moms ( she's brilliant ) and I headed to the car wash, we opened it up, sat it in the back of her truck and sprayed away and the thing was seriously brand new afterwards. Seriously. People. I remember taking it all apart before and washing all the pieces and hating putting it back together and it didn't look near as good. Now when your spraying don't get the washer thingy to close as that's alot of pressure, also hold onto it, it will blow, lol. When your done take it home and set it out to dry. It will be perfect.

2. Same thing with shoes. I know, I know crrrrazzzyyyyy...But seriously, when my lil sis and I were cheerleaders in highschool, our shoes were white and would get horribly dirty after football games. We would wear them to the car wash and spray away ( again don't get to close ) then take them home and let them dry, looked like new. Much better than the washing machine or spending an hour scrubbing on them. It's kinda fun too :)

3. I know most of you already do this one but anyway. Clorox Wipes are Fabulous! I remember my aunt talking about them once, I used them but not like I do now since hearing her discuss it. I have canisters of them all over the house, my fave the orange ones for the kitchen, you can smell it forever and it smells so clean and good. They are so great for in the bathroom, to do a quick wipe down everytime your in there, then it stays clean. Same goes for the kitchen. Wipe, wipe, wipe, if your in the room get one out and do a quick wipe down. I use them on my desk, my coffee table, the walls, doors, everywhere. Wipe as you go and you won't be wiped at the end of the day but your house will sparkle. Bahhahaha, ok so that was lame. Anywho....

4. If your a modge podger and like me, you use LOTS of those foam brushes with the wooden handles. I use them for everything and especially when I am working with modge podge. I feel so wasteful though as I use them once sometimes and throw them out. If you have a quick little project and just need a little modge podge and have to use one, either rinse it and use it again later or clip off the end of the brush and reuse it. The wooden handles usually pop right off and those are great little stir sticks for small cans of paint or smoothing paper out when modge podging. I am sure they could also be used in a craft project somewhere down the road.

5. Coupons. I love me some coupons but I hate to organize them. I don't have a fancy organizer so I started using envelopes. I personally keep mine in a bin at home now, somewhat organized but I have envelopes that go in my purse with the different store names written on the outside. Then when I make out my lists or know that coupon will be used there, I stick it in the envelope for that store and it's so much easier when I go to do my shopping.

6. Now like the bins I showed you above, if your looking for organizational items. Craigslist is another great place to look. I got 9 or 10 of the above jars that are originally from Ikea ( we don't have one nearby ) from a lady on craigslist for $5 for all of them. These are perfect to hold little things in my craft room. I also got the 10 matching baskets below for $20 I believe awhile back from craigslist and they will all fit perfectly on my bookshelf in my craft room to house all kinds of things and I love that they all match!

7. If you have lots of ribbon, or even ribbon pieces and scraps you would like to store easier, they are so cute wrapped on the old timey clothespins. For a tutorial go here. I found Nichole's blog the other day and you must go over and check out her pretty ribbon storage! I don't have a ton of ribbon but think it's so cool and will be doing this with what I do have. p.s. Isn't that scrapbook paper awesome? I got it on clearance and can't wait to make something with it. I love paper with writing and text.

2 Yummmy Meals out of one Roast in the slow cooker!

I found this recipe here a couple of years ago when googling and looking for a new roast recipe. I absolutely LOVE cooking in my slow cooker! It's awesome as it's basically dump and go, and then about 8 hours later you have a Fabulous meal that you did virtually nothing to prepare.

Now I admit I was skeptical at first myself, sounded a bit to salty but TRUST me it's Awesome! This is the only way I make my roasts now....

I do everything exactly as the recipe from RecipeZaar says except I always brown my roasts beforehand in a tiny bit of olive oil.

Ingredients

1 beef roast, any kind
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package brown gravy mix, dry
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package dried Italian salad dressing mix
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package ranch dressing mix, dry
1/2 cup water

Directions

Brown your roast in a tiny bit of olive oil. Then place in your crockpot.
Mix the dried mixes together in a bowl and sprinkle over the roast.
Pour the water around the roast.
Cook on low for 7-9 hours.

A little more than halfway I add in cut up potatoes and carrots. LOTS of carrots for us as we love them!! This recipe makes a yummy gravy for the potatoes! I always make angel hair pasta right before the roast is done and the roast, potato, and carrot mixture with the gravy is sooooo goood!!!! Serve it with some yummmy bread or rolls and your ready to eat!

Not only is this recipe easy peasy but I love that it requires only a few ingredients and is very inexpensive to make! We always have leftovers. Wanna know what I do with the leftovers? This is almost better than the first time around. I said almost.

1. Take your leftover roast, doesn't matter if it's pork or beef, whatever will work and tear it all apart.

2. Now heat up a skillet with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil ( butter works to ) in it and add your meat.

3. Just cook it long enough to very slightly crisp it and warm it up.

4. Take some sandwich rolls, sliced bread, or hamburger buns with mayo ( that's how we roll ) or whatever your preference and fill with your meat and Enjoy!

It is soooooooooooo good! It's good with a slice of provolone cheese too!

One Super easy and Yummmo Roast = 2 nights of dinner or dinner and lunch the next day!!

Making a Photo Wreath....

I have been wanting to post this for awhile now. I seen something similar done with Christmas cards on Martha's site here, I did her tutorial exactly but instead of Christmas cards was going to use black and white family photos. I got all my clothespins glued on and it was ready for pictures then I seen one like mine only much better above in my December issue of Country Living and liked it better. So off I went...

I used an old quilting hoop, randomly glued all of my pictures on to my liking trying to mix the sizes up. I order prints of all my photos through either shutterfly, cvs, or walgreens. Depends on who has the best deal when I go to order. Shutterfly is my favorite as if you sign up to receive their emails they are constantly emailing you deals. You definitely don't want to go gluing your favorite pictures unless you have doubles :)

Lay them out however you like best. I actually had my craft table to work on which is easiest to do standing at a table so you can move around and see it from all angles. Yes, my craft table is clean.

I completely recommend black and white photos with maybe a mix of sephia toned photos, however I could not find all my photos and was lucky ( hence the whole organization saga ) to find these and well I'm impatient so I worked with what I had. So I edited in black and white to give you an idea.

There are lots of fun things you could do with this. This looks odd but if you have the right frame it would look pretty sweet hanging over an empty frame. Or you could make a cute little sign with your family name on it to hang in the middle or something vintage and fun. Ohhhh and by the way I will totally be hanging this from some chunky black ribbon, however again with the organization and not being able to find things. I have a door table that my mom made me in my entry way and as soon as I have the ribbon and my entryway organized ( check the organization calendar to the right ) I will be hanging mine there.

Try it with vintage valentines, Christmas cards, or maybe even a mix of vintage photos, papers, postcards, or any ephemera. Super cool.

A little bit of everything....

First check out the Awesome amount of snow we received on Thursday!! I think we ended up with almost 7 inches. Some may not think it's awesome but I love snow, it brings a smile to my face.

Secondly, Are these not the coolest push pins ever? I found these Christmas Eve in the clearance at Hobby Lobby while doing a little last minute shopping.

I bought a bunch! I LOVE them! They are a nice size and heavy

And these giganto scissors husband bought me. They are about 18 inches. We seen them Christmas Eve at Hobby Lobby and they were on sale for like $6?....I have been wanting some to hang on my wall in my craft room. These will go nicely with some super cute artwork I'm working on for in there :)

I haven't gotten to do ANY crafting the past few days as I am hard at work getting my craft room organized as I HAVE to have it completed by the end of tomorrow so I can go down the list. Next is the kitchen and I will be posting about that on Wednesday. I have been working on some new fun blocks, like the one ( don't worry it's not done ) above.

I also did finish these up last week. They turned out ok. I just printed my pictures out on regular ole printer paper. I added the letters to my pictures using my fave www.picnik.com Anyways, I was just playing around and trying them out. I do like them and they will look so much better using the proper paper and color. They are supposed to be black and white but they were printed on a black and white printer only so hence the dullness.

Also some more Love blocks.

I have lots of cool projects coming your way this week and FINALLY the washer video tutorial. I am working on a photo wreath, a couple of knockoffs from Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn, a giganto bulletin board for my room, and finally finishing up the toile dressform that has been sitting and waiting for me....

I also now have a few things to make and mail before Tuesday as today I found out that a girl that I went to highschool with is battling cervical cancer and they are having a benefit next weekend the 16th and I was asked to send some things to be auctioned and of course I said yes. She is married and has 4 little ones, so please keep her family in your prayers. If anyone is interested in donating an item to be auctioned contact me and I'll tell you where to mail it.

Inspiration Time!!!!!

When I need inspiration for ideas of course I turn to either Ballard Designs, Pottery Barn, and my latest Martha Stewart. Now I have watched Martha and visited her site before but never like the past few weeks. So many awesome ideas! I can't wait to share everything that I am working on but for now here are some pretty pics and most pertain to organization since that's what I'm working on right now. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorites. What a great way to store leftover paints!

How clever is this? Put some metal up in the back of your medicine cabinet and hang some of your things with magnets!

Got a garden or a shed? What a great way for storing your twines and other strings!

What a cute way to use old cans and they are perfect for housing the mail.

I love this one and I think I am going to do this in our bathroom. This would be great for the little guy to be able to reach his towel too.

I so love shutters and I love this idea. I can't find any anywhere! Have to have some, this is to cute!

And last but not least. This is by far my favorite! A Plate rack hanging on the wall to house your kiddos collection of books!! We are going to be working on the little guys room soon and this is definitely going in there!

I don't know about you but all of these pictures help inspire me to get organized!

Organization Week One....Hmmm....

Ok so I am not getting this posted very early but it's before midnight so it counts. It has been a crazy crazy day and it probably wasn't so smart of me to start this challenge only yesterday giving myself less than a day to get one area of my household done. If you are clueless as to what I am talking about go here and read how I am challenging myself to become organized in less than 2 months.

Now before I show you these pictures. This.is.serious.people. It's bad, very bad. And I chose to start in the worst area of the house, the area that needs the most organization. When I claimed this room as my craft room my crap literally got thrown in this room, it was never once organized at all, so it's only built up month after month and gotten so much worse. I really can't believe I am showing you this. I started on a bookshelf in my room, it was covered in mounds of stuff, good stuff too. Scrapbook papers, letters I have started, blocks finished and not, all kinds of goodies that should be displayed throughout the house, etc. I am nowhere near done, not even close, even with just this shelf but even though I said I would post my organization updates on Wednesday I will post the rest of this area in the morning sometime.

So I started here. Let me tell you I could not even get to the shelf. Boxes of stuff on the floor in front of it. Notice my pumpkins? Yea it's January, so bad I know. Hey New Year, New beginning, right?

After a little organization. Still nowhere near completion but it's definitely a start. I have nine of these baskets. I was lucky enough to score them off of craiglist for $20 for all nine and they match. They are a perfect fit for my shelf, 3 to a shelf. Obviously they won't be so junktified but it's a start.

I have TONS of these that I bought for about 10 cents a piece after halloween. I want to cover them in pretty papers or fabrics as they are really nice for organizing things in a cabinet or on a shelf.

I am not sure where in the world I am going to put finished things. These are not all finished but I have one cabinet in the room that I am thinking should be emptied so that I can store finished goodies in it that away they don't collect the dust :)

Sorry my pics are bad. I didn't have time to edit them. Remember this shelf? $10 garage sale find over the summer. Well believe it or not I did get it painted and hubby hung it for me. Now this shelf will NOT hold my blocks as it will be housing all of my candle stock but for now to get the blocks out of the way I had to use it.

Like I said I have TONS of work ahead of me in here but i'm trying and I know I will finish it. I have to, I can't stand it. I can't wait to be able to find things and get out all of my pretties!

***Now a few tips if your organizing on a tight budget***

1. Craigslist is Awesome for finding deals on baskets, organizers, shelves, cabinets, etc. I found the baskets above, I also found a set of 10 matching jars that I will show you soon for $5 and they are perfect for buttons, beads, all of my embellishments.

2. Check that clearance after a Holiday, look for clearanced buckets, boxes, anything you can use to organize in your cabinets or on your shelves. It doesn't have to be pretty if it's going in a closet or in a cabinet, but you can always alter it if you like.

3. Check your local thrift stores, and think outside the box. Old Mason jars are great for storing small items and they look pretty! Plus they have gobs of baskets there and cheap too!

Ok that's it! Though tomorrow is late I will show you more tomorrow anyway. Then Next week I will show you a new area and more tips and tricks for organizing on the cheap and thinking outside the box!

Ohhhh guess what???? It's snowing like crazy here, winter storm warnings and big beautiful flakes falling from the sky! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this weather. I get lots of hate mail and dirty looks for it too :) haha.

A Two Month Journey to Complete Organization....Join Me?

I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! We had an Awesome Christmas, and new Years. I have never been so excited to start a new year, usually I am so sad that Christmas is over and done and have never really looked forward to the new year or planned like I am this year.

I have SO MANY goals for myself, my family, and this little blog this year and it feels incredible! I just know it's going to be a Great year!

I will talk more about my goals a little later on but one goal that is important to me is Organization. My house is so disorganized and with no organization comes chaos, I have finally figured this out. From our clothes, to our kitchen, and bathroom and especially my craft room it's B.A.D.

I have to get it under control! I am giving myself until the end of February to fix it. I will be posting one area of the house before ( yikes ) and after at least once a week til all major areas of the household are clutter free. By February 28th I plan to have the Kitchen, the Bedrooms, The closets, The Entryway, The kids things, and yes my craft room completely organized. I want every single thing in our home to have it's own place. A place where everyone in the household knows oh this goes there and this is here. Trust me it's a lot for 2 months but I think that's a fair amount of time to get it done.

I will be posting the space I complete every Wednesday and will share pictures as well as any tips and tricks I come up with to fix our unorganized problems.

Along with organizing our household I will be rearranging and organizing here over the next couple of weeks as well. Also I know we are a few days into the new year but I have a goal to get one post in a day from now until the end of 2010. I know I can do it!

Vintage Looking Blocks for the Kiddos...

My last post was Tuesday with all kinds of plans to post upcoming projects that well I didn't. What's new right? I promise it will get better after Christmas. I have so many plans for this blog, so many projects I want to finish and share. I have been a bit sad that yet again another Christmas is almost over, it comes and goes so fast. But now I am actually looking forward to the new year and everything to come for 2010. I have been finishing up a few orders, packaged and mailed EVERYTHING this morning and it feels good. Is my shopping done? No. Have I been able to bake anything yet? No. Heck not even all my Christmas decorating is complete. But packages are mailed and that is enough to make me happy today :) I am not a big baker, would love to be but my kitchen is blah. It's one of those sweet little kitchens that's more like a hallway. Not so sweet though.

Anyways our 8 year old is on break, everyone seems to be feeling much much better. Including myself. The littlest guy had started getting another cold and was coughing a bunch but is fine now.

My aim won't work and I can't be without it, that's how I talk to my peeps, haha. Ok really my Grams and I do bug husband on it ~~lots~~ Occasionally as he has it at work too.

I know some of these I have showed you before but thought I would recap a few past ones for ideas for gift giving!

I know your shocked, right? It's blocks. Again. I can't help myself though. Plus I am making a bunch of these for gifts so this has been pretty much it for the last week or two. My sisters who are Twilight obsessed mentioned that we should get together and make up some twilight goodies. Well immediately I got started on a few ideas I had. I took my blocks that hubby cut from a 2x4 for me, he cuts them 4 inches tall, then I printed out some Twilight images in black and white that I found on google images. Cut them down to size and modge podged them on. I love them and think these would make a wonderful gift cutely packaged for that twilight fan on your list! These would also be great with family photos, pet photos, etc. Which I am currently working on all the above for a few gifts.

These I made with scrapbook paper and vintage looking flashcards. Don't you just love polka dots?

I have some more polka dot blocks coming tomorrow. You can't wait, right? But I made them from the CUTEST Christmas wrapping paper ever.

Who wouldn't love a set of personalized blocks? You could print out the pictures, decoupage them on, and add the family name, the year the family was est. so many different things you could do.

More blocks...these I made with burlap, upholstery tacks, and flashcards.

Here's another super easy and inexpensive gift idea. Washer necklaces, So cute, easy, and these to can be personalized. I use rub ons to personalize them and they work great!

Or the glass pendant necklaces would be an easy cute one as well! Scrabble tile ones are fun too!

What about a cute frame? This one was made out of an old frame, the matting is textured wallpaper that was painted and distressed, then just add your photos! Super cute!

Burlap Wall Hooks....DIY day!

First let me say it's 5:47 am, and I have NOT been to bed. Now I stay up late way to much but this is just awful. My littlest bugaboo, whom is one is yes sick again. I am not sure we will ever be rid of the colds, coughs, sniffles, and flu in this house. It's AWFUL! Anyone else feel this way? We are all JUST getting over it, my tonsils are just now feeling better and here the poor little guy has it all over again and way worse. I called the nurse a couple of hours ago as he is breathing very hard and so congested, and coughing like crazy, but she said to do what we have been doing and so I will just call the Doc in the morning. Oh and get this! Our oldest is in second grade, Guess how many kids were in school in his class today? FOUR! The rest out sick. I have to admit at first I played with the idea that it was our fault as all the boys were just at our house, lol but no.

Anyway...It's Snowing! Yeahhhhhhh! I hear snow plows and I love it!!! I love love love the snow! We have winter storm advisorys today!! Wooohooo!

Ok, so I bought these hooks over the summer at Hobby Lobby, they were in the 90% off clearance and I love getting things like this as you know you can alter them. These yes are cute but not my cute.

So of course I added some burlap and cut out stencils with my cricut expression, then got out the black paint and stenciled away. Numbers + Burlap = My obsession. Love them. It's just to easy.

I am participating in DIY day for the first time in FOREVER over at Kimba's. Seriously it's been awhile. Things have been crazy hectic but I can't let that get me and my blog down. Paper Ball Ornaments....

I have seen these before and tried to make them but failed, well then in my daily emails I get from Martha low and behold she had a tutorial and it made so much more sense and I LOVE them!! I can't wait to make a bunch more, I am working on some pretty toile ones that I can use all year in a bowl or big jar.

You could make them as big or as little as you want, make some out of vintage images from childrens books and hang them from the ceiling in a playroom or little girls room, How cute would that be! Mine I just made with some random paper as I wanted to make sure it would turn out, but there are lots you could do to dress these up. Add some letters or numbers too, how cute and easy! Last night we had 8 boys plus our own, EIGHT, 6 of which stayed all night.It was seriously crazy. Our son turned 8 on Thursday and we had a sleepover last night. This guy here was great, played with them and kept them entertained until after 1am when the last one finally fell asleep. Yes ONE AM. Fun was had by all though and the Birthday boy deserved it :) But now we are wore out and there is cake and crumbs all over the floor, toys everywhere, and lots of cleaning to do all over again.

Having that many boys together, you get to see what your kids are seeing, hearing, and learning at school and let me tell you it makes me want to lock my kid up at home and never let him leave the house. It amazes me what just 7 and 8 year old boys already know, it's scary. But we can only do so much, and there is just no way to protect them from it all, just got to keep teaching them right from wrong and do our best. It's funny, things that were said, words that I heard whispered, and my son would say what's that mean? What's that mom?

Anyways, all your Christmas decorating done? What about your shopping? I can't believe Christmas is already almost here. I wish I could slow down time as it's going way to fast for me. I am not ready for it to be over yet.

My mom is finally back to crafting and she now has a blog! Yeahhhh! She took about a year off from crafting for not so fun life stuff and she also works construction in the summer which leaves absolutely no time for creating. This was one of the very first door benches she made for me, unfortunately I don't have it anymore. I gave it to my brother :( But I have a new one! Aren't these super cool? Don't make fun of my junk on there, lol.

This I do still have. This is one of my favorite things I own. She was having a garage sale one day and so was the lady across the street, we went over bought this for $10, she seriously had it painted and done for me by the end of the night! I love love love it!

This Angel is soooo Beautiful! I love it and definitely love the color!! I just listed it for her in her etsy shop here. Gorgeous! It's all made out of paper clay and paper mache!

Some Christmas Blocks....

I am hooked on making these blocks. Blocks were the very first thing I ever made when I started just a little under a year ago. They are simple, possibilities are endless and they are very affordable to make. They also make very cute gifts!

These I made with a 2x4 that my husband cut down for me into 4 inch and 6 inch tall blocks. I decoupaged scrapbook paper on them, and cutout stencils using my cricut expression. Super easy.

These however are my favorite. Love them. These were made from the 6 inch blocks hubby cut from the 2x4, I painted them black, distressed them a bit, I cut up pieces of burlap and tacked them onto the blocks with upholstery tacks, then I hot glued the old looking flashcards to the burlap.

I have a ton of these flashcards and lots more projects planned for them.

These were made out of 4 inch blocks cut from a 4x4. They have torn pieces of toile wrapping paper decoupaged on them. They were antiqued with an antiquing gel.

Love the red toile!!

I am Thankful for my Husband, my 2 beautiful boys, my family, I am Thankful for my Grams who started baking and cooking yesterday and is probably up doing so already so that the family can get together and eat a Delicious meal with each other :) I am thankful for her stuffing, it's seriously the yummiest, and definitely Thankful for the chocolate desert she makes! Know what else I'm thankful for? The tupperware that's bringing me home some leftovers :) Really though, I have so much to be Thankful for! I am Thankful for each and everyone of you. Your all wonderful, I have made so many friends since I have started this blog and met so many Awesome people! I hope you all have a Blessed day!! Enjoy your family time and eat lots!!!

I know it's not Thanksgiving just yet, but My husband, kids, and I were in the car tonight and he told me this Thanksgiving poem he had heard on WCIC, our favorite radio station. It could not be more true. Then he told me what he was Thankful for, it was really sweet :) I am Thankful for my Husband of almost 9 years who works so hard and does his best for his family each and everyday, I am Thankful for the 2 most beautiful, healthy, happy boys, I am Thankful for all of my family, I have so many things to be Thankful for.

Thanksgiving

Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes,
We have plenty of food to eat.

Thank you for this pile of dirty, stinky laundry,
We have plenty of nice clothes to wear.

And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds in there,
They were so warm and so comfortable last night.
I know that many have no bed.

My thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom, complete with all the
splattered mirrors, soggy, grimy towels and dirty lavatory,
They are so convenient.

Thank you for this finger smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting so
           badly, it has served us faithfully for many, many years.
           It is full of cold drinks and enough leftovers for two or three
                       meals.

Thanks you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today,
It has baked so many things over the years.

The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing,
The lawn that needs raking: we all enjoy the yard.

Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door.
My kids are healthy and able to run and play.

Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me says you have richly
blessed my family.

I shall do them all cheerfully
And I shall do them gratefully.

This time of year, with the Holidays, and the cold I remind myself of the everyday necessities that we sometimes forget to be Thankful for, like heat, food, water, being able to buy my kids warm coats, hats, and gloves. It's tough for so many, it's tough for us. But we have what we need, our kids have what they need, and I cannot imagine them going without. My husband and I were talking about it tonight and how so many people are in need of so many things, including little things like coats for their kids. I just can't imagine. This is the happiest most joyous time of the year and it always breaks my heart just thinking about those who don't have these things.

This year I signed up for the Angel program through JCPenney's.com you can pick a child by age and location, buy what is on their need and want list, and if you order it from JCPenney's website you get free shipping, it does not ship directly to the child, none of that info is disclosed of course but it goes to the local Salvation Army where you live who then delivers them. Your items do not have to be purchased from JCPenney, you can buy them anywhere and drop them locally. I chose a girl, I have none and now I get to buy a cute little doll and a girly coat. Is it something we could really afford? Not really, but with my bargain shopping abilities I knew I could find something nice.

My husband, 1 year old, and I are all still sick. Husband is alot better, me I have the nasty chest cold. Gabriel is better but still not himself :( Here are a few things I finished up when I wasn't able to sleep.

Anyway here is a set of letters in Dinosaur paper I finished up for my Etsy shop. I love making these, I am making the CUTEST set right now for someone's new little baby girl :)

More necklaces, I know your probably sick of these but I love them! They are super addicting.

And just a cute little girly wall thing I made to put in my etsy shop as well. I love the colors.

Way back when I first started blogging or close to I won a giveaway for some cool vinyl decals, and I am finally using them. One is a huge family tree, however I didn't want it to be permanently in one spot on my walls, I change things frequently so wait til you see what I came up with for it! Also I hope to have a few Ballard Design inspired projects for you this week. If all goes well :)

An easy Christmas Ornament....

Remember me? Before I get to some super easy ornaments, let me bore you with the details of my week. First my tooth, grrrrrr...I was in so much pain Monday and Tuesday because of it, seriously it hurt. Can't get the work done on it until our ins. kicks in, Great, right?

Ok so I normally don't post pics of the kids but wanted to share a couple. This little Bugaboo turned ONE on Wednesday :( Well he also had his year checkup the same day ( stupid me, I know ), I am not kidding hours after he came home from the Doc he was sick. His eyes are all messed up and yuck, he's coughing, it's so awful. I hate when the littles are sick especially when they aren't old enough to tell you what's wrong and what they need or want. You know? Anyway, he's not doing any better and will be heading to the Doc again today I am sure. His birthday party is Scheduled for Saturday and I thinking we have to cancel. Do you think anyone wants to hangout at my germ infested house?

Here's the little guy just a few days ago, isn't he precious? Ah I love this kid. It makes me so sad that he is already One, time flies.

See this Nut? That's the husband a few days ago. We were at Grams for dinner and he helped me do the dishes and of course I had to snap a picture. No he doesn't have a beard, nor does he parade around in a Santa hat, lol. I just signed up for picnik.com premium photo editor and have been playing around with it, have you tried their free version? If not do so now, as it's AMAZINGly Fun! Soooo many fun things to do with pictures. Anyway this guy is sick and has the same thing the little bugaboo above does. :(

Isn't he handsome? He's 7 and will be 8 the 3rd of December :( This kid is so Awesome, I love him. He's smart, hilarious, and so sweet. He has the biggest heart. He was actually sick a little under 2 weeks ago, he missed almost an entire week of school and guess what? He woke up tonight vomiting. Guess where he was sleeping? My bed. Yippee. Oh and guess what he said as soon as he finished? Does this mean I get to miss school tomorrow? Haha! He loves school but I guess he needed a little break, lol.

Am I sick too? Yup, not as bad as my guys though, just a cold, couch, sore throat, that kind of thing. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have two parties I am hosting this weekend, one Gabes Birthday party on Sat. the second is a Tastefully Simple/Bra party I am hosting on Sunday afternoon but it's not looking like either will happen. :(

So have I been crafting? Making anything cool? Finishing up the hundreds of projects I ramble on and on about. Nope. I just haven't had the time. Plus I feel like poo and just can't. Do you ever have soooo many ideas racing through your head and know exactly how you want to do it, what you need, you have it all, but you just can't get to it? It kills me people. I seriously lose sleep over it. It's awful. I want a vacation, but to go on vacation every single thing would need to be done and I can't see that happening.

Ok I have bored you enough, Aren't these cute? I found packages of chipboard cutouts at Big Lots in ornament shapes, you get 21 one in a package for $2, woohoo! I painted them white, brushed them with modge podge and sprinkled on the diamond dust. So easy and these are fun to do with the kiddos too. My oldest lovees to craft with me!

I love diamond dust, it's so fun! I think they would be cute with numbers on them and shabby them up a bit.

They are much prettier in person, promise.

I tried to make one similar to this one. This was on Ballard Designs website here. No it's not near as cute but it was fun and simple. I cut out the stencil using my Cricut Expression. I love that thing.

I have been trying to coupon on the side, you know when I'm not taking care of sick people. I went to CVS and had a coupon for everything shown. I spent $19 and some change out of pocket and got back $11 in Extra Care Bucks to spend on whatever. Fun! I think I did good, 3 lip balms, 2 Covergirl makeups, batteries, and a Huge Bottle of lotion. Not bad.

Well, That's all I have, I know sad. I won't be around for a couple of days again, as we all fight off the germs, But I have some posts scheduled for you :)

I'm loving these jumbo pendants!! (***Edited to Add the link, So sorry forgot it! ) ****I got mine here, I didn't find the exact links to the ones I got but they are called jumbo pendants, they add things all day long to their shop so I am sure they will add more, you could always message them as well asking for them..**** These are soooo easy to make and all you need is a little scrapbook paper, the pendant, and diamond glaze! Oh and of course your chain. On this one I used some cute rub on words, love them :)

If you have been over to my blog lately you have seen these that I posted yesterday here. I changed out the cording to the hemp cording as I finally found it in this mess of a craft room.

I love the robins egg blue and brown polka dots!

I love how this one turned out! These are sooooo simple to make and they make wonderful gifts! I am completely addicted to making the washer necklaces. Oh and they cost next to nothing to make! You can find packages of about 25 washers at your local hardware store for a few dollars or you can buy them individually for pennies! Then you need the Diamond Glaze which in my area was impossible to find so I ordered it offline and a little 2 oz bottle made at least 20 scrabble tile necklaces and about 25 washer necklaces and I still have plenty more!! And if you have a local scrapbooking store and they don't carry the diamond glaze ask if they can order it for you, mine ordered me some last week!

I will be posting a video tutorial soon for the washer necklaces, I have tweaked this tutorial found here at the Creative Crate just a bit so check that out if you are excited to make your own and can't wait!

Now that my laptop is well again I have lots of projects to share with you this week including burlap topiaries ( yes you read that right ), a burlap tree skirt, Christmas ornaments, more ways to recycle that styrofoam into art, and some pretty family tree art! I am so super excited! Oh and I am sure you will see more necklaces, sorry but I'm addicted! I also have some Great giveaways coming up!! Washer Necklaces and More......

I am completely obsessed with making these if you can't tell! They are super easy, you need very few supplies, and they are cheap to make! I am working on a video tutorial for them as I have a few pointers that really make them easy.

Now I wouldn't normally use this type of twine for them but it's what I had and I am impatient and wanted to share them.

The pink one I made using some super cute jumbo pendants I got, and the one with the #1 I used a wood circle from here.

These are super cool stamped, I am working on that next! These are so inexpensive and make cute gifts!

Happy November Everyone!! November brings turkey, cold, shopping, family time, Christmas decorating, Christmas movies, and Hot Chocolate! Besides December, November is absolutely one of my favorite months!!

Lenox and Twittermoms have teamed up and want to know everyone's favorite winter drink recipe. You can learn more about it here. We LOVE hot chocolate in this house, it's one of our favorites in the winter and all year even! I found this recipe here last year and use it all the time now! I love the name too :)

SnowFlake Cocoa

2 cups whipping cream
6 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (12 ounce) package white chocolate chips
Garnish:
Whipped cream
Candy canes

Directions

Stir together the whipping cream, milk, vanilla, and white chocolate chips in a slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot and chocolate chips are melted. Stir again before serving. Garnish with whipped cream and candy canes, as desired.

I love to that you can make this in your slow cooker for parties!! You could always use milk chocolate to if your not a fan of white chocolate :)

What are your plans for today? After my event, we are heading to the mall for some halloween fun for the little guys, then off to Grammas house for trick or treating! We go there every year and the kids trick or treat there and we eat chili and pass out candy!! Love it! This is the littlest guys first Halloween :)

BOO! Use up that Styrofoam!

Get packages in the mail that have tonsss of styrofoam in them? Don't send it to the landfill make some spooky art!

I modged podged some scrapbook paper on it and pretty much wrapped it like a present, used my cricut and cut out the letters, modge podged them on and voila! Helped the landfill out a little.

and Before... Tomorrow I will share some more Styrofoam turned pretty!
