I suspect that the exact cost of manufacture would be considered a trade secret or commericialy sensitive information, not to be divluged to potential competitors.

Yes I have seen such damage, often on lamps used used in portable work lights that have been dropped.
Have sometimes seen new lamps in the box damaged like that, presumably due to rough handling in transit.

If I were in charge I would not have prohibited energy wasting lamps, but would have very heavily taxed them in order to discourage use.

Thanks for the reply. My camera isn't good enough to get a good picture of the stem. This is the best I can get. I has Cr20 wrote in black on the stem it looks to be hand written and is upside down with the bulb standing on the base. Thanks again, Chris
