"The songs .. touch some other mind spots and bring other impressions, kind of schizophrenic aspects but there's a genius in schizophrenia sometimes."

"This fight amongst the vocals, guitars, bass and beats create an original and well composed mixture. Nathanael Matthias Weiss sings (or rather recites) the lyrics in a intentionally infantile way giving the songs a bit psychotic vibe. There is a bit of drum'n'bass beat as well as some similarities to the sound of NIN and the 90s grunge or hard rock bands."

This post is a follow-up on my promise. I've been DIY marketing in a Radiohead-esque fashion for 60 days. In those days, I've earned around $1.82 USD profit per day (after expenses).

Not enough sales data to report anything useful in regards to how much people are choosing to pay for the digital album. Most sales have been physical CDs face-to-face or via CDBaby.

A sincere thank you to those who have puchased the album so far. An even greater thank you to those who have maxed-out the volume on their stereo listening to Afear.

Music Industry Newb Pulls a Radiohead/Nine Inch Nails

Everybody knows: the music business is changing, big bands are ditching their major labels and experimenting with revolutionary ideas. But how will these ideas work for brand new bands?

Radiohead allowed fans to choose their own price to download In Rainbows for a short time. Results? About 40% of fans paid something (60% got it free). The average price was roughly $4 per album.

Trent Reznor teamed up with Saul Williams and gave fans the choice of downloading NiggyTardust for free or $5. Results? Trent was perturbed that most people chose free, but Saul took a more optimistic viewpoint.

Radiohead, Saul Williams and NIN had substantial fanbases before executing their radical marketing plans. How will avant-garde music industry strategies work for bands with zero-ish fans?

Right Before Sleep
This is important. Right before you doze off, your brain starts hitting different wavelengths¹. You go from Beta (excited thought) to Alpha (normal consciousness) to Theta (drowsy) to Delta (deep sleep). As you are hitting the Theta state, the things you think and imagine have a massive impact on what your brain does all night. The ten minutes before you fall asleep are crucial to your happiness.
Your Life Better
Think about every area of your life a little bit better. Imagine exactly what you want to happen. Smell it, feel it, sense it, taste it, play it out like a movie. I like to think about my life in several areas: my spirit, my mind, my body, my relationships, my passions, my finances. All of these I imagine better than they are now.
Vividly Imagine
Whatever you imagine, just make sure to throw in some emotion. It doesn't matter whether you do this for 30 seconds or five minutes, as long as you feel it.
Every Night
Make this a habit. Just do it every night before bed for at least 21 days. You might be down in the dumps now, but consistently throw your heart into this simple activity and your life will start to soar.

If you want more information, start digging into self-improvement books. I started doing this as a young geek. When I realized I was spending more time leveling-up my Diablo character than I was improving my own "me", I started to really focus on personal growth. If you have read this far, then you are probably on your own journey towards that special something you are looking for as well.

Bullets in a Burning Box is an industrial rock band chemically combining mean guitars, frenetic drums and emotional textures. Singer/instrumentalist/producer and sole-member, Nathanael Matthias Weiss sounds like a caged animal who knows the keys are barely outside the bars.

Bullets unleashed its debut album, Afear, in the winter of 2007. To gain inspiration for the self-produced album, Nathanael Matthias took a year-long hiatus, backpacking the world with a lyric-book and a change of shorts.

Nathanael Matthias Weiss (born Dec. 11, 1979) was raised in Southern Oregon. In his teenage years, he designed and programmed computer games. He began sneaking into the company audio-production booth late at night to record industrial music.
