Pumpkin-estelle bag

I found this material, looks like wool. I made this bag inspired by the pumpkin and the estelle bags, with many pleats, big enough and fits with my coat!

#001 foray into sewing stuff to wear

A version of the, free pattern 'Coffee Date Dress' and my first ever attempt at making any garment, which would explain why I ran out of time before I could figure out how to get the ruffle to go right but the corsage made it seem ok when the cardigan was sitting right.

Semi-Failed Top

When you do a thing long enough, you're bound to have a failure sooner or later.
In my case, it was later.

After a week of successful sewing, this project kinda fails.
It looks like I wanted and went together with no more trouble than usual, but the choice of fabric (hubbies old tees) was not a good one.

It doesn't look as bad as I thought in this picture, but it's not exactly what I was thinking of. This is loosely copied from an Anthro top that I'll upload of picture of later.

All in all, not something I'd wear to work, but I'll definitely wear it out tomorrow.

Maid of honor

I was the maid of honor at my brother's wedding. Not only was this a first time for being part of a wedding party, but I was also caught up with designing/creating the pieces for my mom, as well as a wedding the following weekend where I was responsible for making 4 bridesmaid's dresses plus the wedding gown! This was a pattern I had on hand that I made minor adjustments to and literally made the whole thing in one day. It's a pretty simple design but I thought the fabric choice dressed it up a lot. Of course, once I had the thing made and got myself out to Chicago, I realized it was SUPER cold and well, too bad for me!

Mom of the groom

So I'm adding all these projects that are wedding related - and they all happened the last couple weeks of October this year, so it's all very recent work of mine. This project was a custom design for my mom to wear at my brother's wedding in Chicago. She sent me some patterns and pictures of dresses she liked, so I based the design off of the general idea I was getting - boatneck, sleeves, a little past the knee, sort of a 50's silhouette. She also wanted a jacket, and I made one using the BudaStyle Stella jacket as inspiration!

Cozy and Warm Cardigan

I might have to call this 'Heroes Cardigan'. I watched two seasons of 'heroes' while I was knitting this piece. That's how long it took to finish it. But I gotta tell ya. It is relaxing~.
I dropped shoulder for this piece significantly to create over-sized look. I like that this cardigan can be worn many different ways. Open or overlap front. Or button up the bottom. I attached two small buttons. And I also created a flower broach using a stitch holder. I had a vague idea of making a stitch holder into a broach but had hard time making a crochet flower. The youtube turitorial helped me greatly for creating layered flowers using crochet ( check out the 'how to add rounds'). Youtube is becoming very resourceful for me these day.

Another one of my fabric neck pieces.

This one has a lot of handwork on it.

Bedroom Set

Bedspread, pillows, drapes. I'm new at sewing and have a hard time reading patterns so I just made this. For the pillows I recycled some old throw pillows. I took them apart to see how they were made and used the old fabric as a pattern. For drapes, what could be easier than sewing straight lines! The bedspread was bulky and a little difficult to work with on a small sewing machine but it did work. I used to thick of batting, it weights a ton! Great for the cold winter nights here in Michigan though.

The Cupcake Minidress

I am so in love with this dress! It definitely makes me wanna eat cupcakes all day long!

I made it out of gorgeous black polka dot jersey (2 layers otherwise it would be too thin) and added satin straps to it.
The collar is a folded stripe of the same fabric and the bow is pinned on.

The cupcake I made of felt and I added some sprinkles (pearls) to it, too.
