I’ve never been a much of a fan.

It’s not sports, but this time of year, with the fever of a large mass event looming, my thoughts turn to what to do while most everyone else in my social network talks about things I just don’t care for.

I Don’t Care About #TwitterBowl

A few years back, I created a hashtag to celebrate the new year. I gave away a gift basket of other people electronic products and thought it would be a fun way to spend a Thursday (what I called it instead of “New Years”)

People caught the giving spirit of #Happy09 and we were the top trending topic of Twitter for 4 days.

On the heals of that, I came up with #Twitterbowl so I could recreate the fun on that boring Sunday when other were watching football.

Twitter had started growing so fast that it was barely a trending topic, even thought thousands thought it was a tag for talk about the game.

Official Rules of #NotWatching

Today, I got thinking about playing with friends and meeting new people this weekend.

I announced that I was thinking of starting a chat on Twitter and called it #NotWatching.

This was before checking game times, my schedule, and remembering that any promotion is a lot of work and not advisable if you have no agenda or outcome in mind.

But “no agenda” has rarely stopped me before, so here are the Official Rules of #NotWatching

1. There are NO RULES!

I hope you will join us for the unplanned event that may or may not happen on Twitter.

You don’t have to plan to be there. You need not worry about the time, the topic or anything else. In fact, you can ignore the entire idea and still be with us in the spirit of #NotWatching

I am certain that billions of people worldwide will be #NotWatching. We will do that without any super ad budget and without anything resembling an organized effort.

Naturally, I will be pleased to see you tweet about not being a part of #NotWatching.

You can post this beautiful bumper sticker on your Facebook profile to let all your friends know that you are not participating in this

Please tell everyone. Even if you aren’t tweeting on Sunday, or ever. NO RULES means you can tweet while watching the game, steal the tag for your own use, tell us why you aren’t watching (my favorite.. like we need to justify NOT doing something )

Or do nothing at all. Thank you for #NotWatching

It was burger night again – I couldn’t resist. This thing was really too tall to get in my mouth, and I  have a huge ogrish maw. Eating it was a bit of work.

The Supermercado on the corner had an amazing meal on fresh pineapple – I bought and butchered a whole pineapple for those two slices.
