President and Mrs. Bush Meet with Ashun Kovida

Ashun Kovida, an Arakanese Monk who is native birth in Ann, was invited to a Freedom Agenda lunch with President Bush on September 23, 2008 on Governors' Island during the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.

The lunch had brought together democratic luminaries and democratic activists from repressive regimes of Burma and provided them with an opportunity to recount how they triumphed over tyranny, share lessons learned and made recommendations to advance liberty more effectively.

The event included a photo opportunity with the President after the event, there were attending only 16 people including the President and his staff during the lunch.

This event was organized by The National Security Council(NSC), which specifically requested to Ashun Kovida as one who attandended as due to his role in Burma's Saffron protests in October 2007.

က်ေနာ္သည္ရခိုင္လူမ်ိဳးျဖစ္သည္၊အမ်ိဳးကိုခ်စ္သည္။ႏွစ္ေပါင္း၂၀၀ေက်ာ္အလြန္ကရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံေတာ္ကိုမတရား သိမ္းပိုက္ကာ ထီးနန္းႏွင့္အတူ ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ကို မီးေလာင္တိုက္သြင္းခဲ့သည့္ အျဖစ္၊ရခိုင္အမ်ိဳးသမီး ေျမာက္မ်ားစြာကို မုဒိန္းက်င့္သတ္ျဖတ္ခဲ့သည္။လင္ေကာင္မေပၚပဲ သားေမြးေစခဲ့သည္...ရခိုင္သူမ်ားကို အတင္းအဓမၼဖ်က္ဆီးေနပံုမ်ားကို ပန္းခ်ီ ပန္းပုမ်ားျဖင့္ တမင္ဟန္ေရးျပ..ဂုဏ္ယူေနၾကဆဲပင္ျဖစ္သည္။
ကမၻာ့ႏိုင္ငံအသီးသီးတြင္ ကိုလိုနီစနစ္နိဂံုးခ်ဳပ္ခဲၿပီးျဖစ္ေသာ္လည္း ရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံေတာ္သည္ ကြ်န္ပုန္းကိုလိုနီ ျဖစ္ေနရဆဲပင္။

ရခိုင္သည္ နယ္စြန္နယ္ဖ်ားျပည္ငယ္တခုမဟုတ္၊ႏိုင္ငံတခုျဖစ္သည္။ငယ္သည္ကိုမေျပာႏွင့္စကၤာပူေသာ္မွ ႏိုင္ငံဟူ၍ ခံယူထားလွ်င္ ရခိုင္သည္ ပို၍ ခံယူအပ္ေပသည္။ ပို၍ ထိုက္တန္ေပသည္။သုိ႕ေသာ္ က်ႏ္ုပ္တို႕ ဘ၀ကို က်ႏု္ပ္တို႕ကလြဲ၍ မည္သူမွ် တိတိက်က် မခံစားႏိုင္ နားမလည္ႏိုင္ေသာေၾကာင့္ မည္သူမွ် ကူညီ ေစာင္မရန္ အေလးအနက္ မရွိေပ၊ ႏိုင္ငံသားမ်ားမွာ သူမ်ားအိမ္တြင္ အဖီဆြဲေနရသူမ်ားသာသာ ျဖစ္ေနရၿပီ။ အမွန္မွာ စပါးရွင္ကို ေမ်ာက္ႏွင္ ထားျခင္းသာျဖစ္သည္။ ကမၻာကို ရြာႀကီးလုပ္၍ ဒိုင္လူႀကီး လုပ္ ေနၾကေသာ ယူအန္ အပါ၀င္ မဟာကရုဏာရွင္မ်ား အေပါင္းတို႔သည္လည္း ေခတ္သစ္ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ ေ၀ါးဟာရမ်းျဖင့္ဖြဲ႕စည္းထားေသာ ေရႊရည္စိမ္၀ါက် မ်ားကို အရပ္ေလးမ်က္ႏွာၾကည့္ကာ အလိုက္တသိ ရြက္ဆိုေနၾကေသာေၾကာင့္ ရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံႏွင့္ ရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံကဲ့သို႔ေသာ ကြ်န္ပုန္းကိုလိုနီႏိုင္ငံမ်ား လူမ်ိဳးႏြယ္စုမ်ားသည္ လြတ္လပ္ေသာ အရသာကို မခံစားရေသးေပ။ ဤသည္မွာ တရားပါ၏ေလာ...ကိုလိုနီ ကြ်န္ပုန္းဘ၀ျဖင့္ မည္သည့္ အခ်ိန္ထိတိုင္ေအာင္ ငရဲဒုကၡဆိုးကို ခံစားေနရဦးမည္နည္း။ မည္သည့္အခ်ိန္ကိုေစာင့္၍ လြတ္ေျမာက္ ခြင့္ရေပေတာ့မည္နည္း။

ကမၻာႀကီး နိဂံုးခ်ဳပ္ေတာ့မည္အခ်ိန္တြင္မည္သည့္အရာကို ေစာင့္၍အသက္ရွင္ရမည္နည္း စေသာစေသာ မးခြန္းမ်ားသည္ ရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံႏွင့္ တျခားတျခားေသာႏိုင္ငံငယ္မ်ားအတြက္ အေျဖမဲ့ေနဆဲပင္ျဖစ္သည္။ ေခတ္ သစ္ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ ေ၀ါဟာရအသစ္တလံုးက အၾကမ္းမဖက္ေသာ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရး တဲ့ေလ ဒါေပမဲ့ အၾကမ္း ဖက္ ခံထားရသူမ်ားအတြက္ ကာကြယ္ျခင္းအလုပ္က်ေတာ့မတြင္က်ယ္ႏိုင္ေသး။ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ်က္မေသခ်ာေသာ ရခိုင္ႏိုင္ငံကဲ့သုိ႕ေသာႏိုင္ငံမ်ားအတြက္တိုက္ခိုက္ေတာ္လွန္ျခင္းသည္ တခုတည္းေသာေရြးခ်ယ္ရမည့္အလုပ္ ျဖစ္သည္။ ေတာ္လွန္ေရးျဖင့္ လြတ္လပ္လာၾကေသာ ႏိုင္ငံေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားတြင္ ေခါင္းေဆာင္ ေကာင္းရွိ ၾကေပသည္။

ဂႏၶီကဲ့သို႕ေသာေခါင္းေဆာင္မ်ားသည္ လက္နက္မဲ့ တိုက္သည္။ ဟိုခ်ီမင္းကက္စထရိုကဲ့သို႔ေခါင္းေဆာင္ မ်ားက လက္နက္နဲ႔တိုက္သည္။ တိုက္ခိုက္ပံုခ်င္းမတူညီေသာ္လည္းေတာ္လွန္ေရးအခ်င္းခ်င္းကေတာ့အတူတူ

Arakanese Demand Decolonization at UN Office in New York

Dhaka: Around 30 Arakanese gathered to stage a protest in front of the UN building in New York, USA, on the anniversary of the fall of Arakanese sovereignty on 31 December, 2010, demanding that their land be decolonized by Burma.

Ko Hla Htay, who is an organizer of the event, said, "Arakan was a sovereign country until 1784, when the Burmese king invaded. Since then, our people have fallen in one colony after another. Even though Burma regained independence in 1948, our land is still a colony under Burmese rulers. Our people call it a hidden colony. Because of this, we came to in front of the UN building to demand decolonization of our land." Replying to Narinjara's question about why they claim Arakan is a colony, he said, "We have no right to learn our own literature or history, nor any rights to preserve our cultural heritage ourselves. We have neither human rights nor nationality under the current military government, There is no self-determination for our people despite that we have our own land and our own nationality. The facts are enough to tell that the state of Arakan is now a colony in Burma."

The Burmese central government has deprived Arakanese of all rights in order to monopolize the state since Burma gained independence. Arakanese people have no right to carry out their fate themselves. Many Arakanese strongly believe that independence was not for Arakan, but only for Burman people, because the British transferred administration of the state directly to Burman rulers.

"We know the UN declared on 14 December 1960 that there were no more colonies around the world, but our people are still under the colonization of Burma. So we demanded the UN to wipe out the colony system in Burma in accordance with its declaration," Ko Hla Htay said.

The Arakanese staged the protest in front of the UN under the name of the Arakan Freedom Movement committee, which was formed by some Arakanese people living in the USA.

U Khine Aung Kyaw, who is also an Arakanese patriot that joined the protest, said, "Demanding the UN to decolonize is right and correct because Arakan is now a colony. There have been no rights for Arakanese people since Arakan lost its independence. Today is the 226th anniversary of the fall of Arakanese sovereignty. We have a right to demand decolonization at the UN."

During the gathering for the protest in front of the UN building, some prominent Arakanese leaders, including Dr. Aye Kyaw, delivered a speech about the current situation of Arakan as well as the history of Arakan.

After the protest, the Arakanese Freedom Movement committee send an appeal letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the US government, the European Union, and other related offices around the world, demanding decolonization.

Ko Ba Khin, who is also an organizer of the protest, said, "We described in the letter the present situation of Arakan under the Burmese junta. We want the world leaders to know about our people's condition and how much they are suffering under the current military junta. We are satisfied with our activities because we can send our letter to world leaders during the day of mourning for the loss of our sovereignty. We believe our program was ended successfully."

This is the first time Arakanese people have staged such a demonstration and demanded decolonization in front of the UN in New York.

Arakan State was an independent country from nearly 3225 BCE to 1784 CE, when the Burmese king, Bodaw Phaya, invaded and occupied the kingdom. Since then Arakan has been continually ruled by other powers - passing under British rule and Japanese rule for a short period before becoming part of an independent Burma in 1948.

ရခိုင္ျပည္သူမ်ားက မရဏ မီးရထားလမ္းဟု ေခၚဆို သမုတ္ထားေသာ စစ္ေတြ- အမ္း မီးရထားလမ္း ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနမူေၾကာင့္ ေဒသခံ ျပည္သူမ်ားမွာ သူတို႕ပိုင္ လယ္ေျမမ်ားကို လက္လြတ္ ဆံုးရွံဳးေနၾကရေၾကာင္း သိရသည္။

အမည္မေဖၚလိုသူ ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ျမိဳ႕နယ္မွ လယ္သမားၾကီး တဦးက သူ႕တြင္ ဘုိးဘြားလက္ကတည္းက ပိုင္ဆိုင္လာခဲ့ေသာ လယ္ ၆ ဧကတြင္ ၃ ဧကမွာ ရထားလမ္းေဖါက္လုပ္ရာတြင္ ပါ၀င္သြားေၾကာင္း သူက ယခုကဲ့သို႕ ေျပာဆိုသည္။

“ မိဖ လက္ကတည္းက ပိုင္ဆိုင္လာတဲ့ လယ္ေတြ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ၆ ကမွာ ရထားလမ္းေၾကာင္း ၃ ဧက ဆံုးရွံးသြားပါတယ္။ တျပားတခ်ပ္မွ ေလ်ာ္ေၾကး မေပးသလို လယ္လည္း အစား မေပးပါဘူး။ ဘာမွ ေလ်ာ္ေၾကး မေပးတဲ့ အျပင္ မိမိလယ္ေျမကို ျဖတ္ျပီး ရထားလမ္းေဖါက္မယ္ဆိုတာကိုလည္း အေၾကာင္းၾကားတာ မရွိပါဘူး။ လယ္ကြင္းေပၚမွာ အလံနီ တိုင္ေလးေတြ စိုက္ထူထားတာကို ျမင္ပီးမွ ငါ့လယ္ကို သူတို႕ရထားလမ္း ျဖတ္ေဖါက္ေတာ့မယ္ဆိုတာကို သိရပါတယ္။” ဟု ေျပာသည္။

ယခု အခါ စစ္ေတြမွ အမ္းထိ ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနေသာ ရထားလမ္းကို အပိုင္းလိုက္ တစ္္ခုျပီး တစ္ခု ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနရာ ဒီဇဘၤာလဆန္းမွ စတင္ျပီး ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ျမိဳ႕နယ္ ကုလားတန္ျမစ္ အေရွ႕ျခမ္းတြင္ ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနေၾကာင္း သိရသည္။

ယခုကဲ့သို႕ လယ္ေျမမ်ားကို ေလ်ာ္ေၾကး တစံုတရာ မေပးဘဲ ျဖတ္ေဖါက္သျဖင့္ ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ျမိဳ႕နယ္မွ လမ္းမေတာ္၊ သရက္တပင္၊ ေညာင္ေခ်ာင္း၊ ေဒါင္းေတာင္ယိုးစသည့္ ေက်းရြာမ်ားမွ လယ္သမားမ်ား အေနျဖင့္ ၎တို႕ပိုင္ လယ္ေျမမ်ားကို ဆံုးရွံဳးေနၾကရသည္။

၎ျပင္ ရထားေဖါက္လုပ္သည့္ ကုမၸဏီမ်ားမွ ေဒသခံ ရခိုင္လယ္သမားမ်ားကို ႏိုင္ထက္စီးႏွင္း ျပဳလုပ္မူမ်ားလည္း ရွိေနေၾကာင္း သူက ေျပာသည္။

“ လယ္ေတြက စပါးရိတ္သိမ္းလို႕ မပီးေသးဘူး။ ဒါကို သံုးရက္နဲ႕ အပီးရိတ္ရမယ္။ မရိတ္ရင္ အကုန္လံုးကို ေျမတူးစက္ေတြနဲ႕ ျဖိဳတူးပစ္မယ္ဆိုပီး ျခိမ္းေျခာက္တာေတြလည္း ရွိပါတယ္။ အခု ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ ေဒသမွာ စပါးရိတ္ အလုပ္သမားေတြ အရမ္းရွားပါတယ္။ ဒါျပင္ တခ်ိဳ႕ စပါးေတြဆိုရင္ မိုးေတြရြာထားခဲ့တဲ့ အတြက္ မေျခာက္ဘဲ ျဖစ္ေနတယ္။ သူတို႕က ခုလို အမိ္န္႕ထုတ္ေတာ့ မပီး ပီးေအာင္ရိတ္ရပါတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ ေဒသမွာ စစ္တပ္က လူထုေတြကို မတရား အႏိုင္က်င့္ထားေတြ ရွိတဲ့ အတြက္ ဘယ္သူကမွ ျပန္မေျပာ ရဲၾကဘဲ ျဖစ္ေနပါတယ္။ အကုန္လံုး ေခါင္းငံု႕ခံေနၾကရပါတယ္။”

၎ျပင္ ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ျမိဳ႕နယ္ သရက္တပင္ ေက်းရြာမွ အသက္ ၆၅ ႏွစ္ အရြယ္ လယ္သမား တစ္ဦးကလည္း လယ္ေျမမ်ား ဆံုးရွံဳးသြားသျဖင့္ အသက္ရွင္လိုစိတ္ မရွိဘဲ ျမန္ျမန္ေသဖို႕ ဆုေတာင္းေနေၾကာင္း နိရဥၥရာသို႕ ေျပာသည္။

“ဦးေလးမွာ လယ္သံုးဧက ရွိပါတယ္။ ရထားလမ္းေဖါက္ေတာ့ တဧကခြဲပါသြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။ က်န္တဲ့ တဧကခြဲနဲ႕ မိသားစု ၆ ဦး ဘယ္လိုမွ လုပ္ကိုင္စားေသာက္လို႕ မရေတာ့ပါဘူး။ ဘယ္ေန႕ ေသမင္းေခၚမလဲဆိုတာကိုဘဲ ေမွ်ာ္ေနပါတယ္။ အရင္ေသရင္ အရင္၀ဋ္ကၽြတ္တယ္လို႕ဘဲ ေအာက္ေမ့မိပါတယ္။”

ယခုကဲ့သို႕ လယ္ေျမမ်ားကို လက္လြတ္ဆံုးရွံဳးေနၾကသူမ်ားမွာ ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ျမိဳ႕နယ္ တစ္ခုတည္းတြင္ မဟုတ္ဘဲ ရထားလမ္း ျဖတ္သန္းရာ စစ္ေတြ၊ ပု႑ားကၽြန္း၊ ေျမာက္ဦး၊ မင္းျပား၊ ေျမပံုႏွင့္ အမ္း ျမိဳ႕နယ္ တိုင္းတြင္ ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း သိရသည္။

အမည္မေဖၚလိုသူ ေက်ာင္းဆရာ တစ္ဦးကလည္း လက္ရွိ ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနေသာ ရထားလမ္းေၾကာင့္ ေက်ာက္ေတာ္ႏွင့္ ေျမာက္ဦးျမိဳ႕နယ္မ်ားတြင္ လယ္ဧက ၃၀၀၀ နီးပါး ဆံုးရွံဳးခဲ့ရျပီး အဆိုပါ လယ္ေျမမ်ားအတြက္ အာဏာပိုင္မ်ားက တစံုတရာ ေလ်ာ္ေၾကး မရေၾကာင္း ေျပာၾကားသည္။

Farmers Become Landless for Railroad

Kyauk Taw: Many farmers in Arakan have become landless after their farmlands were confiscated without compensation by authorities for the railroad, said farmers.

A farmer from Kyauk Taw said, "I have six acres of farmlands that are freehold lands. Now I have lost three acres of land for the railroad. I have not received any notice from the government about construction of the railroad over my farmland - I only found out when the construction workers erected several red flags on our farmland for the construction of the track. Many farmers in our area have faced the same problem as me."

At least 3,000 farmlands have been lost by local farmers in Mrauk U and Kyauk Taw Township for the railroad, but they have not been given either other lands nor financial compensation from the government for their lost land.

A 65-year-old farmer from a village in Kyauk Taw said, "I would like to die if possible because one and a half acres out of my total two acres of farmland were lost to the recent railroad construction. I am unable to carry out my family's survival with the remaining half acre of farmland. I have seven members in my family, and most are grandchildren."

The government is now constructing a railroad from Sittwe, the capital of Arakan State, to Ann Town and a major military base there, to be connected with Burma proper through the Burmese town of Min Bu.

The authority has confiscated all lands that are situated along the path of the railroad track. The railroad will pass through many townships in Arakan State - Sittwe, Ponna Kyunt, Kyauk Taw, Mrauk U, Min Bya, Mray Bon, and Ann. The farmers from the areas have lost their farmland to the railroad without any compensation.

The military government has propagated through the state-owned media, including TV, radio, and newspapers, that the railroad is intended for the development of Arakan State and to improve communications in the region.

A retired teacher from Tha Yet Ta Pin Village said, "The railroad is built by the government for Arakan State's development, but now the local people of Arakan are suffering with the confiscation of their farmland by local authorities for the railroad. We welcome the railroad construction in the state, but we oppose the land confiscation without any compensation."

The Arakanese farmers have lost many farmlands over the last few years for the highway that runs between Sittwe and Rangoon. Authorities have confiscated many acres of land from local farmers for the highway without compensation. The military has also been confiscating land for the nearly 60 battalions and military bases currently stationed in Arakan State.

ၿပီးခဲ့တဲ့လတုန္းက ေျမာက္ဦးၿမိဳ႕ခံေတြက ေရွးေဟာင္းသုေတသန ဦးစီးဌာနကုိ တင္ျပ ေတာင္းဆုိမႈေၾကာင့္ ပ်က္စီးသြားတဲ့ ေရွးေဟာင္း အေမြအႏွစ္ တခ်ဳိ႕ကုိ ျပန္လည္ျပင္ဆင္ေပးဖုိ႔၊ ရထားလမ္းကုိ လမ္းေၾကာင္း အနည္းငယ္ေျပာင္းဖုိ႔ သေဘာတူခဲ့တာေၾကာင့္ ယာယီ ေျပလည္မႈ ရခဲ့ပါတယ္။

ရခိုင္ေရွးေဟာင္ျမိဳ႕ရိုးဂိတ္

အမည္မေဖၚလိုသူ ေရွးေဟာင္း သမိုင္းသုေတသီ တဦးက “ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ သြားၾကည့္ေတာ့ ဓည၀တီ ျမိဳ႕ေဟာင္း အေရွ႕ဘက္ကေန စေဖါက္ ေနပါတယ္။ ေနာက္တစ္ရက္ဆိုရင္ ျမိဳ႕ရိုးေပၚကို ေရာက္ပါလိမ့္မယ္။ အခု ျမိဳ႕ရိုးေပၚမွာ လမ္းေဖါက္မယ့္ အမွတ္အသားေတြျဖစ္တဲ့ အလံနီ တိုင္ေလးေတြကို အူေၾကာင္း တေလွ်ာက္မွာ စိုက္ထားတာကို ေတြ႕ရပါတယ္” ဟု ေျပာသည္။

တျခား လူစည္ကားရာေနရာမ်ားက ရထားလမ္းကို ေဖါက္လုပ္လွ်င္ ရႏို္င္ေသာ္လည္း မေဖါက္လုပ္ဘဲ ဓည၀တီ ျမိဳ႕ေတာ္ေဟာင္းေပၚမွ ျဖတ္သန္းေဖါက္လုပ္ျခင္းမွာ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ရွိရွိျဖင့္ ဖ်က္ဆီးျခင္း ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္းသူက ေျပာသည္။

ဓည၀တီ ျမိဳ႕ေတာ္ေဟာင္းမွာ ရခိုင္ဘုရင္ စႏၵသူရိယ မင္းထီးနန္းစိုက္ခဲ့ရာ ျမိဳ႕ျဖစ္ျပီး အဆိုပါ ဘုရင္သည္ ဘုရားရွင္အား ပင့္ဖိတ္ျပီး ယခုမႏၱေလးရွိ မဟာမုနိ အပါအ၀င္ တျခား မဟာက်ိန္၊ မဟာက်န္ ဘုရား ဆင္းတုေတာ္ အမ်ားအျပားကို သြန္းလုပ္ခဲ့ေၾကာင္း သမိုင္းအရ သိရသည္။

WAO (USA) Writes Letter to UNESCO to Save the Ancient City of Mrauk U

The World Arakanese Association (USA) has sent an appeal letter to UNESCO through Irina Bokova, Director-General, to save the ancient city of Mrauk U from further destruction at the hands of the Burmese military junta, said Ko Kyaw Htoo Aung, General Secretary of WAO (USA).

He said, "We sent the letter to Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, on 9 December on behalf of the Arakanese community, of the World Arakanese Organization (USA) on the matter of protecting our ancient city of Mrauk U from further destruction by the Burmese military government. Many ancient heritage sites have been damaged by railroad construction in Mrauk U."
Many ancient temples, walls, and pagodas in Mrauk U were damaged when the Burmese military authority constructed a portion of a new railway through historic sites in Mrauk U recently. After that, the WAO sent the letter to UNESCO to save Mrauk U from further destruction.

"UNESCO is the largest organization in the world to protect historic sites globally. Mrauk U is also an ancient historic site in Burma. So we hope UNESCO will protect and save our historic sites. Because of this, our organization wrote the letter to UNESCO," he said.

According to inside sources, many pagodas, stupas, forts, religious libraries, moats, and city walls were damaged or destroyed in recent construction of the rail track. The historic sites that have been destroyed or damaged so far include: Laung Bwann Brauk, Pagodas on Thazontan Hill, Mungala Manaung Pagoda, Munglar Wall, Khrunkite Wall, Khrunkite Fortress, Praysoegree Pagoda, Mong-Thami Moat, Ahmrunt Taung Fortress, Ray Hla Fortress, Ray Hla Moat, Ray Hla Wall, Para Ouk Pagoda, Mong Khong Shwe Du Pagoda.
Authorities have now moved the path of the railway to another area after Arakanese people expressed opposition to the original route in a letter to high authorities in Naypyidaw and the department of archaeology. The railway route was moved after two ministers - Transport Minister U Thein Swe and Industry Minister 1 U Aung Thaung - came to Mrauk U in the last week of November to inspect the area.

However, there are no plans as of yet by the authority to restore the ancient sites that were damaged during the initial railway construction.

"The heritage in Mrauk U is invaluable not only for our Arakanese people but also others who love antiques and heritage. So we have requested UNESCO and the international community to save our ancient city of Mrauk U from further destruction at the hands of the junta," Kyaw added.

In the letter the WAO provided information about the ancient city of Mrauk U and Arakan, as follows:

"Arakanese are one of the indigenous people of Burma (Myanmar) and Arakan became a part of Burma after occupation by the Burmese king in 1784. Mrauk U (Myauk-U) was the last capital of the Mrauk U Kingdom, the most developed and powerful Arakanese kingdom. It was established in 1430 by Kin Min Saw Mon and it grew into a major business hub along the eastern shore of the Bay of Bengal, trading not just with Asian powers but also with European powers such as the Portuguese and the Dutch. During the prosperous times of Mrauk U, the kings, ministers, and peasants built many pagodas and temples for religious purposes and fortresses and moats for security purposes. Now they all are in danger due to the government's railroad project. I understand basic infrastructures such as railroads are the backbone for the growth of the nation and they are extremely needed in poor Burma. However, in this era of construction, any construction project planning requires not only cost and benefits analysis, but also assessment of the impact on environment and historic places. Public comments should also be collected and considered in the planning process. In contrast to the typical standard procedures, the current military government of Burma contracted the project to a construction firm that has no local knowledge whatsoever.

Thousands of Giri Victims Still Homeless

Mray Bon: Thousands of cyclone victims in Arakan State are still living in temporary huts two months after Giri struck the area as they have been unable to repair their damaged homes due to the high price of local construction materials, said villagers.

A teacher from Mray Bon Township said, "We have not been able to repair our home ourselves due to the high price of construction materials like bamboo, timbers, and nipa palms. We are still staying in temporary huts without homes in poor conditions."

The price of bamboo is up to 30,000 kyat for 100 pieces since the cyclone hit, while the price of stitched palm leaf flaps is over 30,000 kyat for 1,000 pieces.

In Arakan State, the homes are traditionally constructed with nipa palm and wood pillars.

"We build the roof of homes with nipa palms and wells of home with bamboo in our state. The prices of such materials are going up recently. All residents have given up repairing their homes that were damaged during the Giri attack in Arakan State," he said.

The people of Arakan in cyclone-affected areas are still living in poor conditions as they have no homes, but there has been no relief aid to help them rebuild.

A housewife in Taung Sai Kan in Mray Bon Township said that in the area of Taung Sai Kan, there are over 40 villages, but no one has received any plastic sheets, canvas, or tents. Neither the government nor NGOs have provided any material for home repairs in the area.

Dr. Pyo Win, a senior member of the NGO Mingla Myanmar, said, "We are working for cyclone affected areas in Mray Bon and Kyauk Pru Townships, but we can not provide materials for home construction due to lack of funds. We already discussed with the UNDP to provide local products such as timber, bamboo, and nipa palm to cyclone victims to repair their homes, but we can not implement it because we have not yet received any assistance for the matter."

However, his organization is trying hard to get some funds for home repairs, he added.

Most Giri victims throughout Arakan State are extremely anxious for their health because the cold season is just starting. Many people will have their health affected if they are living in temporary huts without roofs and wells during the cold season.

The on-going construction of the Sittwe-Amm-Minbu railroad is damaging important cultural heritage sites in Mrauk U, a well-known site of ancient pagodas and buildings in Arakan State, according to concerned local residents.
“Although we have called for an end to this project, they haven’t complied,” a Mrauk U resident told The Irrawaddy. He said damage to some pagodas has been covered over with earth. The railroad construction started on Nov. 7.
The construction project has resulted in damage or destruction of ancient pagodas, stupas, walls, strongholds, religious libraries, moats, and city walls, said local sources.

Many cultural heritage sites have been destroyed as military authorities have bulldozed a path for constructing a railroad through a major archaeological zone in Mrauk U, an ancient city in western Burma’s Arakan State.
A local archaeologist told Narinjara that the construction of the railroad through the city started on 7 November, and many ancient structures built by 14th century Arakanese cultures have already been damaged.
“Many priceless archaeological structures such as pagodas, sculptures, city walls, fortresses, garrisons, and moats have already been bulldozed for the railroad that is being designed to cross the main archaeological zone in the north and northeastern part of the city, and many more structures are still facing demolition,” said the archaeologist.
The structures that have already been destroyed include pagodas and sculptures on Thazintan Hills, Praysoe Gree Pagoda, Mungalar Wall, Khrunkite Wall, Ahmrunt Taung Fortress, Khrunkite Fortress, Rae Hla Fortress, Rae Hla Gate, Rae Hla Moat, and Kyein Rwa Moat, the source said.

Railway re-routed around heritage site

New Delhi (Mizzima) – Two incumbent ministers and national legislators-elect ordered the railways ministry last Thursday to choose a new path for the line it is building near the ancient city of Mrauk-U, after residents complained that walls and pagodas had sustained damage after a section of track had been laid.

The order also came three days after Transport Minister Thein Swe and Industry Minister 1 Aung Thaung, of the junta-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party, had met lawmakers-elect of the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party, which won more state seats than the USDP in national polls on November 7.

The politicians visited Mrauk-U to redraw the route and Burma’s Archaeology Department under the Ministry of Culture informed the Rail Transport Ministry to follow the new route, which passes through the ancient city’s north.

“The new route will cross the Rangoon-Sittwe Road but it’s a long way from the ancient pagodas and buildings, so the new route is acceptable,” an archaeologist in Mrauk-U said on condition of anonymity.

On November 15, local residents filed a complaint at the office of the Burmese Army Western Command chief Brigadier General Soe Thein, seeking a redesign of the Sittwe-Ann-Minbu railway project after 10 sections of wall, including those named Thazintan, Mungalar Manaung, Khrunkite, Kathel Ai Moat, and three pagodas, were found to have been damaged during the construction of the Kyauktaw-Mrauk-U section, which finished on national election day, residents said.

“After the residents filed the complaint, the Ministry of Culture immediately informed the Ministry of Rail Transport … [which] then … had to postpone the project. The damage was repaired and the route was redrawn,” the archaeologist said.

The Archaeology Department issued a ban last Thursday on railway workers digging in exclusion zones around the city or damaging the ancient forts. It also warned that cultural heritage thieves would be punished, he said.

The Sittwe-Yechanbyin section and Kungaung-Yoetayoke section of the Sittwe-Ann-Minbu railway has been commissioned into service since May last year and 75 per cents of Kyauktaw-Mrauk-U section was complete, a Sittwe rail official said.

Observers and party members have speculated as to the motivation behind Aung Thaung and Thein Swe seeking the meeting with three lawmakers from the RNDP on November 22 in Sittwe, capital of Arakan (Rakhine) State. In the elections, the RNDP secured the largest number of seats, 18, in the 46- to 47-seat Arakan Assembly.

“က်ေနာ္တုိ႔ ေတာင္းဆုိတဲ့ ေရွာင္ကြင္းလမ္းေၾကာင္းကုိ မရေပမဲ့ သတိထားၿပီးခါမွ ေပ်ာ့ေပ်ာင္းလာတဲ့သေဘာ၊ ျပည္သူလူထု ဆႏၵအေပၚ လိုက္ေလ်ာမႈ ရွိတဲ့သေဘာ၊ သမုိင္းရဲ႕ အေမြအႏွစ္အေပၚ တစုံတခု အတုိင္းအတာထိ တန္ဖုိးကုိ ပုိၿပီး အေလးအနက္ထားတဲ့ သေဘာလုိ႔ပဲ သုံးသပ္ပါတယ္။” လုိ႔ ေျပာသြားပါတယ္။

ေဒသခံေတြ တင္ျပတဲ့ လမ္းေၾကာင္းက ေငြေၾကးကုန္က်မႈ မ်ားႏုိင္လုိ႔ အာဏာပုိင္ေတြက သေဘာမတူခဲ့ဘူးလုိ႔ သိရပါတယ္။ လမ္းေၾကာင္းသစ္ ေျပာင္းတယ္ ဆုိေပမဲ့ သမုိင္းယဥ္ေက်းမႈ နယ္ေျမကုိ ေရွာင္ကြင္းႏုိင္ရင္ ပုိေကာင္းတယ္လုိ႔ ေဒါက္တာေအးေမာင္က ဆက္ေျပာပါတယ္။

ကမၻာေပၚ႐ွိ လူမ်ဳိးတိုင္းတြင္ အလြန္တရာမွ အထြဋ္အျမတ္ထားေသာ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္တို႔ ႐ွိၾကၿမဲပင္ ျဖစ္သည္။ ထိုယဥ္ေက်းမႈသမိုင္း အေမြအႏွစ္တို႔သည္ပင္လွ်င္ ၄င္းလူမ်ဳိးတို႔၏ အသက္ေသြးေၾကာျဖစ္သည္။ ထိုနည္းတူစြာ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးမွာလည္း အသက္ထက္မက တန္ဖိုးထားၾကေသာ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္မ်ားစြာ႐ွိေနသည္မွာ မ်က္ျမင္ပင္ျဖစ္သည္။

ထိုမွ်ႀကီးက်ယ္ခန္းနား တန္ဖိုး႐ွိေသာ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးတို႔၏ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈသမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္တို႔ကို ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔၏ ဘိုးစဥ္ ေဘာင္ဆက္တို႔က အသက္ေသြးႏွင့္ရင္ၿပီး ေစာင့္ေ႐ွာက္လာခဲ့ၾကေပသည္။ တနည္းအားျဖင့္ဆိုရေသာ္ ကမၻာေပၚ႐ွိ လူသားတိုင္းက မိမိတို႔၏ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈသမိုင္းအေမြ အႏွစ္ေတြကို မိမိတို႔၏အသက္ေသြးေၾကာဟုေျပာဆိုၾကေသာ္လည္း ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးအတြက္မူကား “ရခိုင္ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ သမိုင္းအေမြ အႏွစ္တို႔သည္ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးတို႔၏ အသက္ေသြးေၾကာ”ဟု တင္စား႐ံုေလာက္ႏွင့္ လံုေလာက္ျပည္စံုအံ့မထင္ပါ။ အဘယ္ေၾကာင့္ဆိုေသာ္…. ဒီရခိုင္ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြကို ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔၏ ဘိုးဘြား၊ ဘီဘင္တို႔သည္ ေခတ္အဆက္ဆက္ အသက္ေပါင္းမ်ားစြာကို ေပးဆပ္ခဲ့ၾကေသာေၾကာင့္ပင္ျဖစ္သည္။

ဤတြင္ တခုစဥ္းစားစရာ႐ွိသည္မွာ ဤမွ်ႀကီးက်ယ္ခန္႔နားထည္ဝါေသာ ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးတို႔၏ အသက္ေသြးေၾကာ၊ တန္းဖိုးမျဖတ္ႏိုင္ေသာ ရခိုင္တို႔အဆက္ဆက္ အသက္တမွ် တန္းဖိုးထား၊ ထိမ္းသိမ္းေ႐ွာက္လာခဲ့ၾကေသာ ဘုထိုး၊ ေစတီ၊ သာသနိက အေဆာက္အဦးတို႔သည္ အခုေခတ္ ရခိုင္တို႔လက္ထက္က်မွ တိုင္းတပါးလူမ်ဳိးတို႔၏ ဖ်က္ဆီးျခင္းကုိ ခံေနရျခင္းသည္ကား အမ်ဳိးကုိ အလြန္တရာခ်စ္လွပါသည္ဆိုေသာ ရခိုင္ျပည္ဖြား ရခိုင္သားမ်ားအတြက္ အလြန္တရာမွ႐ွက္စရာပင္။ ဖ်က္ဆီးေနေသာ ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးႀကီးဝါဒကိုကား အျပစ္မတင္လိုေတာ့ပါ။ အဘယ္ေၾကာင့္ဆိုေသာ္--
ဗမာသမိုင္းတေလွ်ာက္ကိုျပန္ၾကည့္မည္ဆိုပါလွ်င္ အေကာင္းဟူ၍လက္ညႈိးထိုးျပစရာ နည္းနည္းေလးမွ မ႐ွိေသာေၾကာင့္ ပင္ျဖစ္သည္။ “ဗမာစကားသည္ ဒို႔စကား၊ ဗမာစာသည္ ဒို႔စာ၊ ဗမာသမိုင္းသည္ ဒို႔သမိုင္း” စသည္ျဖင့္ေၾကြးေၾကာ္လွ်က္ ဗမာတိုင္းရင္သားမွတပါး တျခားေသာတိုင္းရင္းသားမ်ားကိုမူကား မ်ဳိးျပဳန္းေအာင္လုပ္ေဆာင္ေနၿပီး၊ သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ စသည္တို႔ကိုလည္း နည္းမ်ဳိးစံုျဖင့္ ခိုးယူ၊ ဖ်က္ဆီးေနၾကျခင္းကိုလည္း ေန႔စဥ္ႏွင့္အမွ် ေတြ႔ျမင္ေနၾကရေပသည္။

ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးတို႔ ဗုဒၶဘာသာကို ယံုၾကည္ကိုးကြယ ္တန္းဖိုးထားၾကသည္ဆိုသည့္အခ်က္ကိုကား ဟန္ျပအေယာင္ေဆာင္ေလလားလို႔ ေတြးေတာစရာပင္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ အဘယ္ေၾကာင့္ဆိုေသာ္ကား- ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးတို႔သက္သက္သာမဟုတ္ပဲ၊ အေ႐ွ႕ေတာင္အာ႐ွသမိုင္းမွာ သမိုင္းသုေတသီတို႔ တန္းဖိုးထားေလးစားၾကေသာ သာသနိကအေဆာက္အဦး၊ ဘုရားပုထိုး၊ ေက်ာင္းကန္ဇရပ္ အပါအဝင္ တန္းဖိုးမျဖတ္ႏိုင္ေသာ ေ႐ွးေဟာင္း သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြကို ရထားလမ္းကိုအေၾကာင္းျပၿပီး လမ္းေဖာက္ဟန္ေဆာင္လွ်က္ အၿငိဳးႀကီးစြာျဖင့္ အခ်က္က်က် ဖ်က္ဆီးေနျခင္းကို ၾကည့္ျခင္းအားျဖင့္လည္း အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္သူ ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးႀကီးဝါဒီတုိ႔ ဗုဒၶဘာသာကို ဘယ္ေလာက္ကိုင္း႐ႈိင္းတန္ဖိုးထား ႐ိုေသမႈ႐ွိ၊ မ႐ွိဆိုတာ ထင္႐ွားေနပါသည္။

ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးႀကီးဝါဒီတို႔သည္ ဘုရားေက်ာင္းကန္၊ သမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္တို႔ကို ဖ်က္ျခင္းကား ဒီမွ်ေလာက္ပဲလားလို႔ ဆန္းစစ္ၾကည့္ပါက-- ဒီေခတ္တြင္သာမကပဲ လြန္ေလခဲ့ေသာ အတိတ္သမိုင္းအဆက္ဆက္ကလည္း ထိုကဲ့သို႔လုပ္ေဆာင္လာခဲ့ၾကျခင္းကိုေတြ႔ရပါသည္။ ဗမာဘုရင္တို႔ ရခိုင္ကိုသိမ္းေသာ အခါကလည္း ရခိုင္ျပည္မွ ပညာတတ္ လူပုဂၢဳိလ္ႏွင့္ ရဟန္းပညာ႐ွိေတြ ကိုသတ္ျဖတ္ႏွိပ္စက္ၿပီး၊ သာသနိကအေဆာက္အဦး၊ ဘုရားပုထိုးေစတီႏွင့္ ေျမာက္ဦးေ႐ႊနန္းေတာ္အပါအဝင္ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈအသမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြကို မီး႐ႈိးဖ်က္ဆီးခဲ့ၾကသည္ မွာလည္း ထင္႐ွားပါသည္။ ဗမာဘုရင္ ယိုးဒယားကို က်ဴးေက်ာ္စဥ္ကလည္း ရဟန္ေတာ္မ်ားကို သတ္ျဖတ္ညွင္းပန္း ႏွိပ္စက္သည့္အျပင္၊ သာသနိကအေဆာက္အဦး၊ ဘုရားပုထိုးေစတီႏွင့္ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈအသမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြကို မီး႐ႈိးဖ်က္ဆီး ခဲ့ၾကသည္မွာ သမိုင္းကိုေလ့လာဖူးသူတိုင္း အသိပင္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ တတိယျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံေတာ္ကို ထူေထာင္ၿပီး၊ ဗမာတိုင္းရင္းသားတို႔၏ သာသနာ့သမိုင္းတြင္ ထင္႐ွားေသာ ဗမာဘုရင္ အေနာ္ရထာမင္းသည္လည္း မြန္တို႔ဌာေန သထံုျပည္ကို ဝင္ေရာက္ထိုက္ခိုက္၊ သတ္ျဖတ္ၿပီး ပိဋကတ္ေတာ္ကို အၾကမ္းဖက္၍ လုယူသိမ္းပိုက္ခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါသည္။

ယခုမ်က္ေမွာက္ေခတ္ အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္သူ ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးႀကီးဝါဒီတို႔သည္ ရာႏွင့္ခ်ီေသာ ရဟန္းသံဃာေတာ္မ်ားကို အက်ဥ္းခ် သတ္ျဖတ္ေထာင္ခ်ထားၿပီး ကမၻာေက်ာ္ခဲ့ေသာ စက္တင္ဘာေ႐ႊဝါေရာင္ေတာ္လွန္ေရးႏွင့္၊ အခုလက္႐ွိ ရခိုင္လူမ်ဳိးတစုအတြက္သာမက ဗုဒၶဘာသာတိုင္းအတြက္ တန္းဖိုးမျဖတ္ႏိုင္ေသာ ဘုရားပုထိုးေစတီေတာ္မ်ားအပါအဝင္ တန္းဖိုးမျဖတ္ႏိုင္ေသာ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈသမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ကို ဖ်က္ဆီးေသာျခင္း ကိုၾကည့္ျခင္းအားျဖင့္ ဗမာလူမ်ဳိးႀကီးဝါဒီတို႔၏ လုပ္ထံုးလုပ္နည္း သမိုင္းအစဥ္အလာတို႔ကို စာဖတ္သူတို႔ အသိပင္ျဖစ္ေပသည္။

အကယ္၍သာ ရခိုင္ျပည္ကိုတိုးတက္ေစခ်င္ေသာဆႏၵျဖင့္ ရထားလမ္းကိုေဖာက္လုပ္သည္ဆိုပါက ရခိုင္လူ တရပ္လံုးကသာမက ဗုဒၶဘာသာတိုင္းႏွင့္ ေ႐ွးေဟာင္းသမိုင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ကို တန္ဖိုးထားရမွန္းသိသူတိုင္းက အလြန္တရာမွ တန္ဖိုးထားေသာ ဘုရားေက်ာင္းကန္၊ ေစတီပုထိုး၊ ေ႐ွးေဟာင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြကို ပ်က္စီးသြားေအာင္လုပ္မည္အစား ရခိုင္ျပည္ႏွင့္ ဗမာျပည္မကို ေဖာက္လုပ္ထားေသာ လမ္းကိုအရင္ဆံုးေကာင္းေအာင္သာ လုပ္သင့္သည္ဟု ျမင္မိပါသည္။

Complainants Against Railroad Examined by Authority

Mrauk U: Two individuals were interrogated by the Burmese military authority after they complained about the destruction of several cultural heritage sites in Mrauk U to clear space for railroad construction.

U Kyaw Tun Aung, a former chief of the archaeology department in Mrauk U and an abbot of Aung Mingalar Monastery were interrogated about their complaints on 23 November by Sittwe District Chairman Major Moe Zaw Soe, at the Aung Mingalar Monastery in Mrauk U.

An educated youth from Mrauk U said, "After many cultural heritage sites were destroyed by bulldozers for railroad construction, townspeople, led by several abbots and including the archaeology department, submitted an appeal to high authorities. Because of this complaint, the authority interrogated two leaders about the protest."

Moreover, the Sittwe District chairman has warned U Kyaw Tun Aung not to complain in the future using this approach, as U Kyaw Tun Aung is a former government officer.

A high power team from Naypyidaw led by U Kyaw Oo Lwin, director of the archaeology department, came to Mruak U on the 20th to inspect the railroad track after the protest and complaints.

"The high power team decided to divert the next railroad track from the construction, but party of the railroad already constructed will not be changed, even though there are many historic cultural sites there," the youth said.

Many cultural heritage sites have been destroyed to make way for construction of a railroad through a major archaeological zone in Mrauk U, an ancient city in western Burma's Arakan State.

A local archaeologist told Narinjara that the construction of the railroad through the city started on 7 November, and many ancient structures built by 15th century Arakanese cultures have already been damaged.

အင္း၀ေခတ္တြင္ ထုိင္းယိုးဒယားသိုိ႔ စစ္ခ်ီခဲ့ၿပီး အယုဒၶယၿမိဳ႔ေဟာင္းတြင္ ကမၻာမေျကႏုိင္ေသာ အဖ်က္လုပ္ငန္းမ်ားကုိ လြန္က်ဴးထားရစ္ခဲ့သည္မွာ ထုိင္းျမန္မာ ဆက္ဆံေရးအတြက္ ယေန႔တုိင္အဖုထစ္ႀကီး ျဖစ္ရဆဲျဖစ္သည္။ အဖ်က္လုပ္ငန္းႏွင့္ ေကာက္က်စ္စဥ္းလဲေသာ အရာတြင္ ဗမာအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္သူမ်ားမွာ ကမၻာတြင္ ၿပိဳင္လွ်င္ရႉံးေလာက္ေအာင္ လက္သံေျပာင္လွသူမ်ားျဖစ္သည္။ မိမိတုိ႔ကိုယ္တုိင္ သေဘာတူဖိတ္ေခၚ၍ လာေရာက္ေသာ မြန္သူရဲေကာင္း လဂြန္အိမ္တုိ႔ သံအဖြဲ႔ကို ေခ်ာင္းျဖတ္အကူး၌ ငုတ္စုိက္ထားၿပီး ဓားျဖင့္ ဆင္း၍ခုတ္သည္ကို ရာဇာဓိရာဇ္ အေရးေတာ္ပုံတြင္ မွတ္တမ္းတင္ထားသည္။ မိမိတုိ႔အား အားကုိးတႀကီး အကူညီလာေတာင္းလွာေသာ ေဒသမ်ားတြင္ အကူညီအစား ရက္စက္စြာဖိႏွိပ္၍ ၾကမ္းျပခဲ့သည္။ အထူးတုိက္စရာမလုိပဲ အလုိေလ်ာက္ လက္ေအာက္ခံျဖစ္ၿပီးသား အာသံ။ မဏိပူေဒသမ်ားတြင္ပင္ ေသြးသံရဲရဲျဖင့္ ဘုန္းလက္ရုံးစြမ္းျပခဲ့သည္။

ဘုိးေတာ္ေမာင္၀ိုင္း၏ တပ္္မ်ားျပည္ဦးစြန္းကုိ ခ်ဳိး။ ျပည္မ်က္လုံးကိုေဖာက္။ ျပည္မကိုဋ္ကို သိမ္းပုိက္ခဲ့ပုံ ျဖစ္ရပ္စုံကုိ ရခုိင္တုိ႔ ေမ့၍ရၾကေသးသည္မဟုတ္။ ေသြးေခ်ာင္းစီးေအာင္သတ္၍ အရပ္ရပ္ယဥ္ေက်းမွဳ အေမြႏွစ္မ်ား ဘုရားဆင္းတု။ ရုပ္တု ေခါင္းေလာင္း က်မ္းေဟာင္းေပစာ ဖြယ္ဖြယ္ရာရာမွန္သမွ်တုိ႔ကုိ သက္ရွိရဟန္း ။ လူပညာသည္။ ပညာရွိမ်ားႏွင့္အတူ တလုံးတ၀တည္း သိမ္းယူခဲ့သည္။ မိမိတုိ႔ နန္းတြင္းေရးမ်ားကုိ ျပန္ၾကည့္လွ်င္ပင္ တိုင္းျပည္အနာဂါတ္ျဖစ္ေသာ ျမင္းကြန္းမင္းသားႀကီးႏွင့္ ဗုိလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္း လုပ္ႀကံခံရမွဳမ်ားကုိ ေတြ႔ျမင္ႏုိင္သည္။ ဤေရြ႔ဤမွ်အထိ အာဏာရူး၍ မီးကုန္ေအာင္ ရမ္းကားတတ္ေသာ္လည္း ေခတ္မီတုိးတက္ဖြံ႔ၿဖိဳးျခင္းဖက္တြင္ အထူးခ်ဴခ်ာနိမ့္က်လြန္းလွေသာ ကုန္းေဘာင္ရာဇာ တုိ႔၏ ပထမဆုံးေသာ ေဒါင္းဒဂၤါးကုိ ထုိေခတ္ (၁၈ ရာစုအေစာပိုင္း) ေရာက္ေတာ့မွ ရခုိင္မွ သိမ္းယူလာခဲ ့ေသာစက္ျဖင့္ ရခုိင္ပညာရွင္မ်ားကုိ လုပ္အားျပန္ေပးဆြဲ၍ လုပ္ေစခဲ့ျခင္း ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း ဗမာသုေတသီတစ္ဦးက ေဖာ္ျပဖူးသည္။

ျမန္မာအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္သူအဆက္ဆက္တုိ႔ကုိ ဆက္ခံေသာ ယေန႔ေခတ္ နအဖစစ္ဘီလူးႀကီးမ်ားမွာ ယင္းတုိ႔အနက္ အယုတ္မာဆုံး၊ အရက္စက္ အၾကမ္းႂကုတ္ဆုံးျဖစ္သည္။ ေကာက္က်စ္မွဳအရာတြင္လည္း အပါးဆုံး အလည္ဆုံး ပညာသားအပါဆုံးျဖစ္သည္ကုိ ၿပီးခဲ့သည့္ ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲ ၂ ႀကိမ္အေတြ႔အႁကုံမ်ားအရပင္ လယ္ျပင္တြင္ ဆင္သြားသလုိ သိၾကၿပီးျဖစ္သည္။ ပထမတႀကိမ္တြင္ အျပတ္သတ္ႏုိင္သူကုိ မည္သည့္ခိုင္လုံေသာ အေၾကာင္းျပခ်က္မွ်မရွိဘဲ အသိမွတ္မျပဳ၊ ဒုတိယတႀကိမ္တြင္ စံနစ္တက်၊ အားသုံး၍ သူ႔လူဒလံပါတီကုိ မရမေန ႏုိင္ေအာင္လုပ္ခ်လုိက္ေလၿပီ။ ထုိ႔ေၾကာင့္ ဒီအတုိင္း လက္ပစ္ထိုင္ၾကည့္ေနၾကလွ်င္ ပဥၥမဗမာႏုိင္ငံေတာ္ ထူေထာင္ေရးဆုိသည့္ ကမၻာ့ရယ္စရာအေကာင္းဆုံးမူျဖင့္ ေသြးနထင္ေရာက္၍ အေျခာက္တုိက္ ဘ၀င္ရူး စစ္အုပ္စု အာဏာရွင္မ်ားသည္ ရခုိင္တုိ႔၏ ယဥ္ေက်းမွဳ ႏွလုံးသားကုိ မညွာမတာ၊ မဆင္မျခင္ ေခ်မြေဖ်ာက္ဖ်က္ပစ္လုိက္မည္မွာ ေသခ်ာေနေပသည္။ တာလီဘန္မ်ားမွာ မူဆလင္ျဖစ္၍ ဘုရားကို ဒုံးျဖင့္ခြင့္ဖုိ ့လက္မတြန္႔ခဲ့သည္မွာ မဆန္း။ ဗုဒၶဘာသာျဖစ္ပါလွ်က္ ဘုရားကုိ ေျမတူးစက္ျဖင့္ထုိးေကာ္ရဲသည္မွာ ပုိမုိ၍ ထူးဆန္းေၾကာင္း ေစ့ေစ့ငငသိိထားၾကရန္ အေရးႀကီးေပသည္။ သူတုိ႔ လက္ခုပ္ထဲမွ ေရလုိျဖစ္ေန၍ ေမွာက္လုိေမွာက္ သြန္လိုသြန္ လုပ္သမွ် ငုံ႔ခံေနရေသာ ယခုအေျခေနတြင္ပင္လွ်င္ မိမိတုိ႔အေနျဖင့္ ဤကိစၥအေပၚ မည္သုိ႔တုံ႔ျပန္ၾကရမည္။

တုန္႔ျပန္ႏုိင္ေသးသည္ဆုိသည္ကုိ ရခုိင္အမ်ဳိးသားမ်ားႏွင့္အတူ ယဥ္ေက်းမွဳျမတ္ႏုိးေသာ တုိင္းရင္းသား ညီအစ္ကုိ ေမာင္ႏွမမ်ားအားလုံး သတိ၊ အသိရွိသင့္ၾကေပသည္။ အေၾကာင္းမွာ ဤကိစၥမ်ဳိးသည္ သက္ဆုိင္ရာ လူမ်ဳိး တခုတည္း ဘာသာတခုတည္းႏွင့္သာ ဆုိင္သည္မဟုတ္ပဲ ယဥ္ေက်းေသာ လူ႔အသိုင္း၀ုိင္းတခုလုံးႏွင့္ သက္ဆုိင္ေသာ ကိစၥျဖစ္ေနျခင္းေၾကာင့္ျဖစ္သည္။ စစ္ကာလက ဗမာျပည္အထက္ပိုင္းအား အဂၤလိ္ပ္စစ္တပ္မွ ဗုံးႀကဲစဥ္ အဂၤလိပ္သမိုင္းပညာရွင္ မစၥတာ လုစ္က ပုဂံကို ဗုံမ်ား မႀကဲခ်မိေစရန္ စာေပး၍ အဂၤလိပ္စစ္တပ္မွ စဥ္းစား နားလည္ေပးခဲ႔ျခင္းေၾကာင့္ ယေန႔ ပုဂံတြင္ ဘုရားပုထုိးမ်ား ေရွးမူမပ်က္ တင္က်န္ခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ ေနာက္ဆုံးျဖစ္ေပၚေနေသာ မီဒီယာ သတင္းမ်ားအရ ေဒသခံျပည္သူမ်ား။ ေဒသခံ သမိုင္းသုေတသီ ပညာရွင္မ်ားမွေန၍ ဗုိလ္ခ်ဳပ္မွဴးႀကီး သန္းေရႊ၊ သက္ဆုိင္ရာ ေရွးေဟာင္းဌာႏွင့္ ရထားလမ္းေဖာက္လုပ္ေနသည္႔ မီးရထားဌာနမ်ားသို ့ တုိက္ရုိက္ေပးစာမ်ား ေပးၿပီး ကန္႔ကြက္ေနၾကေသာ္လည္း ယေန႔အထိ မည္သည့္တုန္႔ျပန္ခ်က္မွ မရရွိေသးေၾကာင္း သိရေပသည္။

ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲတြင္ အမတ္ ေနရာ (၃၅) ေနရာအထိ အႏုိင္ရထားသည့္ ရခုိင္တုိင္းရင္းသားမ်ား တုိးတက္ေရးပါတီအေနျဖင့္လည္း အခ်က္လက္မ်ားကုိ ေလ့လာေနၿပီး လႊတ္ေတာ္ အျပင္ဖက္မွာေရာ လႊတ္ေတာ္အထဲမွာပါ ဤကိစၥကို ကန္႔ကြက္သြားမည္ဟုသိရသည္။ (ယေန႔ ေနာက္ဆုံးသတင္းတခုအရ အမတ္ေနရာအမ်ားဆုံးအႏုိင္ရထားသည့္ ျပည္ေထာင္စု တုိင္းရင္းသားဖြံ႔တုိးတက္ေရး ပါတီမွ လာေရာက္ၿပီး၊ ရခုိင္တုိင္းရင္းသားမ်ား တိုးတက္ေရးပါတီႏွင့္ ညွိႏိွဳင္းေဆြးေႏြၾကသည္။ ေျပာဆုိျဖစ္ၾကသည့္ စကားမ်ားအရ ရခုိင္ျပည္နယ္ဖြံ႔ျဖိဳးတုိးတက္ေရးအတြင္ တုိးတက္ေရးပါတီႏွစ္ခု တုိးတက္ေရး စကားမ်ားကုိ ေဆြးေႏြးၾကသည္ကုိ ၾကားရသည့္ရခုိင္သားမ်ားအဖုိ႔ အားတက္စရာေကာင္းဘိသည္။ ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲအၿပီး ရက္ကိုးဆယ္အတြင္း ေခၚယူမည့္ လႊတ္ေတာ္ထဲတြင္ကား ေဘာင္းဘီ၀တ္ဥပေဒကုိ အရပ္သားအစိုးရက တပ္မေတာ္အလိုက် က်င့္သုံးရမည္သာျဖစ္သျဖင့္ ဗမာတုိးတက္ေရးအမတ္မင္းမ်ားက ရခုိင္တုိးတက္ေရးအမတ္မင္းမ်ားကို ႀကိဳေပးထားခဲ့သည့္ကတိမ်ား ကာကီ(စစ္စိမ္း)ေရာင္ ေလထုထဲတြင္ ေပ်ာက္ကြယ္သြားဖုိ႔သာ ရာႏွဳန္းမ်ားဆဲျဖစ္သည္။

ဗမာအမ်ိဳးသားမ်ား၏ ေရွးေဟာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းမူ အေမြအႏွစ္ ထြန္းကားရာ ပုဂံအား ထိန္းသိမ္း ေစာင့္ေရွာက္ထားျပီး ရခိုင္အမ်ိဳးသားမ်ား၏ ေရွးေဟာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းမူ အေမြအနွစ္မ်ား တည္ရွိရာ ေျမာက္ဦးျမိဳ႕အား ဖ်က္ဆီး ပစ္ေနသည္မွာ တရားပါ၏ေလာ။ ေဖၚျပပါ ဓါတ္ပံုမ်ားက ရခိုင္ အမ်ိဳးသားမ်ား အေပၚ ဗမာ စစ္အာဏာရွင္ မ်ားက မည္မွ် အတိုင္းအတာထိ အႏိုင္က်င့္ ေစာ္ကားေနသည္ကို သက္ေသ ေဖၚညြန္း ျပသေနပါသည္။

ရခိုင္ ေရွးေဟာင္းျမိဳ႕ေတာ္ ေျမာက္ဦးျမိဳ႕ကို ျဖတ္ျပီး ရထားလမ္း ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနသျဖင့္ ေရွးေဟာင္း သမိုင္း၀င္ အေမြအႏွစ္မ်ား အၾကီးအက်ယ္ ပ်က္စီးေနရာ ရခိုင္သံဃာ့သမဂၢႏွင့္ ရခိုင္ျပည္ အမ်ိဳးသား ေကာင္စီက ႏို၀ဘၤာလ ၂၂ ရက္ေန႕က ေက်ညာခ်က္ ထုတ္ျပန္ျပီး ရထားလမ္း ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနျခင္းကို ကန္႕ကြက္ လိုက္ေၾကာင္း သိရသည္။

ရခုိင္သံဃာ့သမဂၢမွ ေက်ညာခ်က္ ထုတ္ျပန္ရျခင္းႏွင့္ ပတ္သက္ျပီး ဥကၠဌ ဆရာေတာ္ ဦးသီဟက ယခုကဲ့သို႕ မိန္႕ ၾကားသည္။

“ ထုတ္ျပန္ရတဲ့ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္က လူမ်ိဳးတမ်ိဳးမွာ အဓိက စံသတ္မွတ္ခ်က္ဟာ အဲဒီ လူမ်ိဳး တမ်ိဳးရဲ႕ ေရွ႕ေဟာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ အႏုပညာ လက္ရာေတြေပၚမွာ မူတည္လို႕ ရိွပါတယ္။ အဲဒီ လူမ်ိဳး တမ်ိဳးရဲ႕ စံခ်ိန္ စံညြန္း ဟာလည္း အဲဒီလူမ်ိဳး တမ်ိဳးရဲ႕ သမိုင္းေနာက္ခံ အေပၚမွာ အေျခ တည္ေနတဲ့ အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ အခု နအဖ စစ္အစိုးရက ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနတဲ့ ရထားလမ္းဟာ လူသားေတြအတြက္ အက်ိဳးျပဳဖို႕ ဆိုတာထက္ ေရွးေဟာင္း အေမြ အႏွစ္ေတြကို ပ်က္စီးေနတယ္လို႕ ဦးဇင္းတို႕ ျမင္တယ္။ ခံစားမိတယ္။ ေနာက္တခ်က္က ဘိုးေတာ္ေမာင္၀ိုင္း သိမ္းျပီးတဲ့ ေနာက္ပိုင္းက ေျပာင္းလို႕ ရတာေတြ ကို ေျပာင္း၊ ယူလို႕ရတာေတြကိုယူ၊ ယူလို႕မရတာေတြကို မီးတိုက္ဖ်က္ဆီးခဲ့တယ္။ အဲဒါေတြကို မေက်နပ္တဲ့ တိုင္ေအာင္ ယေန႕ထိ ရခိုင္ယဥ္ေက်းမႈေတြကို ဖ်က္ဆီးလာ တယ္။ ရခိုင္ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈ ေတြကို ဗမာ ယဥ္ေက်းမႈျပဳလာတယ္။ ဒီလိုဖ်က္ဆီးလာတာေတြကို လက္ပိုက္ၾကည့္မ ေနႏိုင္၊ ဒါေၾကာင့္ ကန္႕ကြက္ ရတာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။”

ရခိုင္သံဃာ့သမဂၢအေနျဖင့္ အဆိုပါေရွ႕ေဟာင္းအေမြအႏွစ္ေတြဖ်က္ဆီးေနမႈကို ရပ္တန္႕ေစရန္ အတြက္ ကမၻာ့ ကုလသမဂၢ အပါအ၀င္ ေရွးေဟာင္း သုေတသနအဖြဲ႕မ်ားႏွင့္ ႏိုင္ငံတကာ အဖြဲ႕ အစည္းမ်ားကို တိုင္ၾကားရန္ အစီ အစဥ္ကို မၾကာခင္ အေကာင္အထည္ေဖၚ လုပ္ေဆာင္မည္ဟု ဆရာေတာ္က ေျပာသည္။

ယခုကဲ့သို႕ နအဖ စစ္အစိုးရ၏ စစ္ေတြ-အမ္း ရထားလမ္းပိုင္း ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနရာတြင္ ေရွးအေဟာင္း အေဆာက္အဦးမ်ား ဖ်က္ဆီးခံေနရျခင္းမွာ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ ရွိရွိ ျပဳလုပ္ေနျခင္းျဖစ္သည္ဟု ရခုိင္ျပည္ အမ်ိဳးသား ေကာင္စီ အေထြေထြအတြင္းေရးမွဴး ကိုထြန္းေဇာ္က ယခုကဲ့သို႕ ေျပာသည္။

“ရထားလမ္းေဖါက္လုပ္မႈဟာ ရခိုင္ျပည္ရဲ႕ လမ္းပန္းဆက္သြယ္ေရးခက္ခဲေတြကို ေက်ာ္လႊားဖို႕ အတြက္ စစ္အုပ္စုက ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ရွိရွိနဲ႕ ဖြံျဖိဳးတိုးတက္ေရးအစီအစဥ္အရ လုပ္တယ္ဆိုလို႕ရွိရင္ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕က ကန္႕ကြက္စရာ တခုလည္း မရွိပါ။ အခုလက္ရွိျမင္ေနရတာက ရခိုင္ အမ်ိဳးသားေတြ အေပၚမွာ သြယ္၀ိုက္တဲ့နည္းနဲ႕ ဖိႏွိပ္မႈေတြကို ပိုျပီးလုပ္ေနတယ္လို႕ ယူဆတယ္။ ဒုတိယတခ်က္က ရန္ကုန္ စစ္ေတြကားလမ္းေဖါက္တဲ့အခါ တခါအေတြ႕အၾကံဳရခဲ့ျပီ။ ေရွးေဟာင္းသမိုင္း အေမြအႏွစ္ ေတြကို ဖ်က္ဆီးရံုသာမက ေဒသခံေတြ အတင္းအဓမၼ လုပ္အားေပးေစခိုင္းခဲ့တယ္။ အဲဒါဟာ ကားလမ္း ေဖါက္တဲ့အခါ ရလိုက္တဲ့အေတြ႕အၾကံဳပါ။ အခု အလားတူဘဲ မီးရထား လမ္းေဖါက္လုပ္တဲ့ အခါမွာလည္း ေျမာက္ဦးျမိဳ႕မွာဆိုရင္ အားလံုးျမင္ၾကတဲအတိုင္းဘဲ။ ဆံုးရႈံးပ်က္စီးမႈေတြဟာ သိသိ သာသာ ျဖစ္ေနပါတယ္။ ANC အေနနဲ႕ သေဘာထားရွိတာက အဲဒါေတြဟာ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ရွိရွိနဲ႕ ဖ်က္ဆီး ေနတယ္လို႕ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ သံုးသပ္မိပါတယ္”ဟု ေျပာသည္။

ယခုေဖါက္လုပ္ေနေသာ ရထားလမ္းႏွင့္ ယခင္ ရန္ကုန္-စစ္ေတြ ကားလမ္း ေဖါက္လုပ္စဥ္ကလည္း ဓည၀တီ ျမိဳ႕ေတာ္ေဟာင္းႏွင့္္ ေ၀သာလီ ျမိဳ႕ေတာ္ေဟာင္းမ်ားကို ျဖတ္ျပီး ေဖါက္လုပ္ခဲ့သျဖင့္ သမိုင္း၀င္ အေဆာက္အဦးမ်ားစြာ ပ်က္စီးသြားခဲ့ရသည္ဟု သိရသည္။

ယခု ေဖါက္လုပ္ေနေသာ စစ္ေတြ-အမ္း- မင္းဘူးရထားလမ္းမွာ ၁၅၇ မိုင္ရွည္လ်ားျပီး နအဖ စစ္အစိုးရမွ ၁၀ ႏွစ္စီမံကိန္းျဖင့္ ေဖာက္လုပ္ေနေသာ ရထားလမ္းျဖစ္သည္။
