Hey Guys,
Jesper and I just finished up our first collaboration, The SETI folder.

We had a blast building these, the goal with this project was to blend our individual style while also working within a theme.

After talking we decided to work up design a knife with a Sci Fi feel.
The kind of gear that a Deep Space Marine or Mining company Tech might use.

From there we started working on the initial sketches, we wanted something simple and tough that still had a forward design. Color, texture, construction and form all play their part.

This was a tough build and really pushed our skill sets in terms of design and programming.
Definitely coming away from this one with a few new tricks.

Collab's are always interesting due to the fact that you are working in someone else's shop on unfamiliar tools and on a tight timeline, this one was definitely not without its fare share of challenges.

That said its awesome to be able to work with a good friend, challenge each other, share techniques and talk shop over a few beers at the end of the day.

Hey Guys,
This year has been pretty much nonstop, I'm getting ready for my last show of the year and have already started cutting commitments down for 2014.
This year was a bit of a perfect storm with shows, collaborations and outside obligations hitting hard.

I figured I would just check in and let everyone know where we're at.

Folder orders-
My books are still closed, and right now its looking like it will be about 3 years till I get to the end of my current list.
I've been slowly working through it but I'm hoping to be able to put much more time into my orders starting in late November.

Fixed Blades-
I'm almost done with my fixed blade orders, I have a few Scorpions that I need to finish and a handful of Strikers.
I know you guys have been waiting a long time, thanks for your patience.
Shop changes geared towards folder making have effected my set ups and the fix blades have been on hold. I'm going to try and have this sorted out by the end of the year.

Cypops-
Demand for the Cypops is kind of crazy right now, I'm basically trying to fit batches in when I can or running them on weekends to try and keep up.
The best places to find them right now is still probably here and my forum on the USN, there also seems to be a fair bit of trading going on in the Burnley Knives Group on Facebook.

Tshirts-
I'm getting ready for the second run of KIC shirts as well as a new Cypop shirt, I'll post when they are available.

New custom designs-
I'm working on a few new folder designs now but due to my workload its pretty slow going for the time being. This will be one of the areas that I focus on next year, even though my books are closed I am hoping to be able to do some lotteries for new models and special runs.

Factory Collaborations-
Boker is set to release the Kwaiken flipper with full Titanium scales and the Striker fixed blade this fall, no set dates at this point but I will be sure and post if I hear a set date.

1 off Zetta open bid auction

Hey Guys,

With this Zetta we wanted to up the game a bit increasing the complexity of the build and the difficulty of fit and finish, while still keeping the design subtle and refined. Somewhat ;)

The handle scales have been made of a tight pattern Timascus

with inlays of blackened Zirconium.

We decided to take the concept a little further by adding a peekaboo inlay of niobium into the back of each scale, these inlays are only visible from the back of the handle. The Niobium is anodized a very vibrant blue to contrast with the Timascus.

The Zetta features an asymmetrical blade with a duplex grind on the right side and a dagger grind on the left.

Also if you would like to send your maximum bid, I am happy to auto increase in $100.00 increments until you have won or been out bid. This may be easier for some depending on location.

Anso/Brnly Zetta collaboration Lottery.

Alright guys,
For those of you that haven't seen it Jens and I have just finished our most recent collaboration, The "Zetta"
For this one I flew back to Denmark to work in the Anso shop for the duration of the build.
We got pretty ambitious with this and it tested us thoroughly, after some long nights we finished in time and I was on a plane the next morning.
Finally back home and Jens has sent me the finished photography so I'm ready to get this thing started.

For this project we each had a few concepts that we wanted to try, one that we shared was the desire to do a high end all metal folder. We also decided that we wanted to work in some color with out it being overpowering, and to try a new blade steel.
The construction method we chose gave us a number of surfaces and materials to work with while also pushing us to work through problems that we hadn't come across before.

This is what collaborations are really about for me, pushing yourself, sharing techniques and problem solving.

The result this time, is the Zetta.

We decided to build a small run of razors while he was in town last week.

Hey Guys,
I have something really cool ready to roll.

This is a Kwaiken flipper with Chad Nichols Black out damascus, lightning strike carbon fiber scales and my last piece of forged superconductor for the bolsters. The Superconductor has a super tight pattern, almost like a finger print.
The liners and clip have my scratch and polish finish and the blade has mirror polished highlights, the screws and pivot have a spun satin finish.

New York Custom Knife Show.

Alright guys,
I will be at the NYCKS this weekend and hope to see some of you there.
For those of you who missed it in Vegas here are the details on the "BeepBeep Lotto"
I got really good feed back after the lottery's and people seemed to enjoy the process, so I'm going to stick with the idea.

I will have six knives for lottery and one open bid knife.

The Lotterys and open bid will take place on Friday.

Basically I will have all of the knives on the table, behind each knife will be a box.

I will have tags to fill out with your name and phone number

At random times throughout the day I will pull a tag and send a text to the winner.

You will have 30 minutes to return my text and get to the table.

One entry per person, but you can enter for each knife.

This way the knives will be on the table for a bit,
Since there is no need to be present, you don't have to worry about showing up at my table at a certain time

I've also made a few changes to to the plan.

As I draw tickets I will set them by the knife, in case someone has poor reception you can see who has been drawn at anytime.
You can now sign up with an email address as well, this is primarily for guys that are coming in from outside the us.

Burnley Bench Tweezers (BBT's)

Hey Guys,
Here's a few shots of a new product that I have been working on.
This is the prototype and I'm making a few small changes on the final version.

Over the years I've found that I use a few small tool on my bench all the time, one of those was a cheap pair of stainless tweezers. I work out of trays so I'm constantly dealing with small parts rolling in to the corners, or dropping them when I try and scoop them up, and the tweezers really help.

I decided that I was tired of using the cheapies and figured that I could build a better set.

I figure there are enough of us that work with small parts, knives, guns, models, etc that I would make a few sets of these and see if people like them.

The idea will be to offer these as a bespoke tool, something that is much nicer than it needs to be but that is very nice to use. With different options for finish, coloring, texturing, jaw width, carbidized tips etc being available.

These are going to be .050 Ti with stainless standoffs overall length is about 7 inches, the next version will have screws on both sides with the standoffs being threaded.

First up is a D2 Kwaiken with green rayskin, dragonfly graphic sheath, and a hybrid blade finish (Viral/Wasteland)

Next is something new, well sort of. This is a Cub variant that I designed a while back and haven't had time to build, so maybe this one is new/old stock. The Blade is 3 3/4 with a overall length of
8 1/4 blade thickness is 1/8.
The scales are natural canvas micarta with stainless tube fastener and a kydex sheath with
Tec lock.
What makes this one really cool is that the blade is BG-42 which is a killer steel and very hard to get at the moment.
