I worked 11 hours over the past 3 days and I think that&#39;s helping me stay on track.  When I&#39;m home I have a tendency to graze on all the bad stuff.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know I&#39;m probably the last person on the planet to know this, but I just found out that there&#39;s a new season of The Biggest Loser (USA version) starting next week.  I can&#39;t wait!  I set the computer to record it just in case I forget.  :-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In other news, I just updated my links over there on the side and added my new friends that have commented recently.  I deleted the old links where people haven&#39;t posted to their blogs in a few months, too. Woohoo!!!  The first half of the summer went okay, but this last half has been so stressful.  The kids have been fighting nonstop morning, noon, and night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I wish I could just lounge around the house tomorrow and enjoy my freedom, but I start my new job tomorrow.  This is a real biggie for me since I haven&#39;t worked in over 7 years.  I&#39;m going to be a field rep for a company who puts up advertising in grocery and drug stores.  Yeah, not some huge career opportunity, but the hours are extremely flexible.  I can work pretty much any time the stores are open, so if the kids are home sick, I can just work when DH gets home or the next day.  No boss looking over my shoulder all the time either.  :-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today I did 30 minutes on the exercise bike. Holy crap this stuff is good!  Has anyone else tried it?  I&#39;ve turned so many people on to it in the last few weeks, Pepsico should be giving me a cut of the profits!  :-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&#39;m not sure if it&#39;s because of the extra caffeine (has nearly twice as much as Diet Pepsi) or if it&#39;s the ginseng, but this stuff just makes me feel &quot;happy&quot;!  According to Wikipedia, one of the side effects of ginseng is euphoria so maybe that&#39;s why? The fact that I bought lots of yummy treats for the kids isn&#39;t helping either.  Too much temptation with the ice cream, S&#39;mores stuff, cookies, etc.  It all has to go! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I did, however, find something to help with my sweet tooth, I think.  Walmart carries sugar-free sno-cone syrup.  The &lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;entire &lt;/span&gt;(16 oz.?) bottle has 50 calories.  I have to save this treat for close to bedtime since artificial sweeteners make me crave the real thing, but I can have a HUGE bowl of shaved ice with syrup for almost &lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;no&lt;/span&gt; calories.  If you haven&#39;t seen it, you can find it in the housewares department near the ice cream makers and sno-cone machines.  The sugar-free kind comes in two flavors, cherry and blue raspberry.  They are quite good but do not mix them.  Blech!!!  I also read that some people use the sugar-free coffee flavoring syrups on shaved ice.  I bought a bottle of Sugar Free DaVinci Vanilla Syrup to try. Yesterday my calories were just under 2,000 and today I hit 2,020. Since my last reported weigh-in (3 weeks ago) I&#39;ve gained 10.2 lbs.  Yep...my new weight is 238.2.  :-(  So basically I wiped out all of the progress I&#39;ve made since Christmas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Food today has been great.  I discovered the nectarines that have been sitting in the fridge for almost a week and I&#39;ve eaten 6 of them today!  LOL  I need to pace myself since I&#39;m not going to the store again until Friday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tonight I went into the pantry/exercise room and cleaned up around the treadmill.  I&#39;m hoping to get on it tomorrow for at least half an hour.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now I&#39;m off to brush my teeth, floss, and swish with Listerine. Phew!  Since it seems to be a one shot deal, I&#39;ll just let it slide like you guys suggested.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Soccer practice today is a different story.  OMG!!!  What is it with kids these days?  Here&#39;s my rant for the day...  The soccer coach&#39;s son is by far the biggest kid on the team.  The team is mostly 5 and 6 year-olds but this kid has got to be 7 or 8.  DD barely comes up to his chest. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&#39;m not sure what led up to the incident, but I just happened to turn my head to see this boy with his hands in the air shove DD and throw her to the ground.  DD is 39 lbs. (17.7 kg) and he&#39;s got to be 80+ lbs. (36+ kg).  The ball was not in play at the time so this was totally not game related.  It was an aggressive act.  Of course she started crying and when I started walking out to the field the coach finally noticed and took his son out of the practice game.  DD doesn&#39;t know why he did it and all he said beforehand was, &quot;What are you looking at?!&quot;  I&#39;ll be honest with you, she&#39;s not into soccer.  It was quite possible the ball rolled by her while she was looking for dandelions to pick and it pissed him off.  But such aggression?  From a young boy? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You know I&#39;ve been dealing with so much BS lately.  It&#39;s affected my life in every way.  I&#39;m done now.  That&#39;s it.  Over.  She&#39;s out of soccer.  I know I should make her stay and stand up to this bully, but there&#39;s a real safety issue there with the size and gender difference.  This boy has shown a real mean streak at every practice and game, only this time it was aimed at my daughter.  It took all I had to get my stuff together and walk out of there without completely losing it.  Ugh!!! When my daughter came home, however, she said one of the boys in her class said, &quot;Whoa!  You&#39;re mom is F-A-T fat!&quot;  When she told me this I was completely floored.  I tried to maintain some composure and I told her that he had bad manners and an ugly mouth (yeah, I could&#39;ve tried a little harder).  I asked her what she said and she shrugged her shoulders.  I then asked how it made her feel and she said she was sad and almost cried.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Okay.  First off I know this kid is like 5 or 6 years old, and at that age they can be brutally honest.  But to spell out the word &quot;fat&quot;?  It sounds like he repeated a comment he heard elsewhere.  Now the &quot;Psycho Stalker Mom&quot; in me wants to go back and review the school awards ceremony video tapes, find this kid&#39;s last name, Google up a phone number and call his parents.  But then the &quot;Almost Sane Mom&quot; says to just let it slide...kids will be kids.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&#39;m going to talk with her more in the morning and ask if anything else was said.  When she told me, DH was sitting right there, and with tears welling up in my eyes I felt it wasn&#39;t the right time to handle the situation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My question to all of the other overweight moms...  Would you talk to the parents?  The teacher?  Just let it slide?  I&#39;m afraid that if I raise a big enough stink then this might haunt my daughter for years. My oldest daughter&#39;s class is making time capsules for each of the students to keep and open when they graduate high school (12 years from now) and I&#39;ve been making some videos and a slide show for it.  The due date was today and I just barely finished it this morning! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The bad thing about all of this?  I was tired and finally gave in to DH&#39;s requests for McDonald&#39;s and had a few double cheeseburgers over the past couple of days.  This was after seeing Fast Food Nation, too.  What was I thinking???&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another 16 days of school, scouts, ballet, and soccer and I can finally be free from all of that stress.  After that I&#39;ll give myself a couple of days to decompress and then on Wednesday, June 20th I&#39;ll get back into full swing.  I&#39;m making this promise to both you guys and myself. Today was a tough one.  I had to take my oldest daughter to a Girl Scout function and there were tons of temptations.  Fast food, cotton candy, Girl Scout cookies, etc.  I had some, but I counted everything.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As if there wasn&#39;t enough stress in my life, I&#39;m now faced with another dilemma.  My youngest daughter will turn 5 in the middle of October and the birthday cut-off for kindergarten is September 30th.  Kids born Oct. - Dec. can take a test and if they score 95% or better, they can get into kindergarten early.  My daughter&#39;s score?  93%!  Argh!!! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I got a letter saying that she qualifies for a pre-K program run by the city, but I&#39;m not sure I want her to go there.  It&#39;s in a pretty rough neighborhood.  So the bottom line is...  Do I push to have her enrolled in kindergarten early?  Do I send her to the public pre-K?  Homeschool?  I really wish she had scored a lot lower...then my decision would be an easy one.  Being so close to the cut-off, however, is just killing me.  I don&#39;t want to push her, yet I don&#39;t want to hold her back. Between now and the end of the school year (June 14th) I&#39;m going to allow myself 2500 calories per day.  I doubt I&#39;ll lose any weight at this level, but at least I won&#39;t gain.  I&#39;m still writing down everything I eat, too.  Things are going to be hectic around here between now and then so that&#39;s why I chose that date.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So far so good for this week.  Instead of having a snack last night I just went to bed. Ouch!!!  I&#39;m up 6.0 lbs. from last Wednesday.  Yes, some is water weight, but some of it is probably true weight gain.  This past weekend I had pizza and almost two half-gallons of ice cream.  I estimated that I had over 4,000 calories on Saturday alone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here is where I am now...  Have you ever had your car run out of gas?  You start it, it will run for a minute and then crap out?  You start it again and it just spits, sputters, then dies again?  No matter what you do you just can&#39;t get it to stay running?  That&#39;s me on my diet right now.  I start out great in the morning and cruise all through the day.  Dinner is fine, too.  Somewhere between dinner and bedtime I go crazy and eat everything in sight.  By the end of the day I&#39;ve had 3,000 calories.  Next day I wake up and repeat the day before.  False starts every day.  Ugh!!!  What I &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;can&lt;/span&gt; say is that today, for the first time since getting sick a few weeks ago, I walked on the treadmill.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So when I weigh in on Wednesday, I&#39;m going to be comparing those numbers to the numbers on the scale today.  This way I can measure my efforts over the past 2 days versus my total meltdown over the weekend.  Does that make any sense? Maybe we should be using less to save ourselves money?  Or how about to keep our air cleaner?  In the late 70&#39;s I lived in Jacksonville, Florida where the skies were always a grayish shade of blue.  To this day I remember my amazement that day in 1981 when we moved to western Massachusetts and I saw a &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;really&lt;/span&gt; blue sky.  Shouldn&#39;t we be driving less and creating less emissions so our kids can have clean air to breathe and beautiful blue skies?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do we need to be told to create less waste and recycle because it&#39;s better for our planet?  Why not do this so that we can have fewer landfills?  On a hot summer day if the wind is just right, I can smell the city landfill.  It&#39;s not good.  Why don&#39;t we just use less stuff and recycle what we do so our quality of life is better and we&#39;re not all living next to mountains of trash?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How about water?  Again I bring up the wallet.  Why waste water?  Here in the city water is pretty expensive so I try to use less whenever I can.  Would it kill us to make sure our dishwashers and washing machines are full when we run them?  How about turning the water off while brushing teeth?  Taking shorter showers?  Turning the water level down in our toilets?  In my opinion, using sprinklers to water your lawn (and half the freakin&#39; street!) is a huge waste and this is something I see far too often.  If you&#39;re going to water any vegetation, just plant a garden.  Then you&#39;ll be saving gas by not driving to the store and there won&#39;t be any packaging to dispose of since vegetables grown in your garden have no packaging!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whether or not global warming truly is a real threat remains to be seen, but why don&#39;t we just treat our planet better regardless? Big Brother Australia kicked off it&#39;s seventh season yesterday, and it looks to be another great year!  I&#39;ve always enjoyed the US version, but the Aussie version is even better.  Right now the live feeds are free so anyone can watch what&#39;s going on in the house.
