It has finally happened that I am moving to a new blogging location. This site title unfortunately was giving me too much unwanted traffic. However I do have many posts that still regularly see hits that I will be giving new life to at the new location.

The swing of life coping with winter on the horizon has begun. To be honest I am very excited that the ice climbing season is nearly here.

I thought I would bring a quick update to the world through my personal blog. I am not sure what will become of this space, but for now it will remain active. I have been working on my new blog space and getting some ideas on the go. I know that I have a lot to work on if my new blog will be successful and have been employing the use of my Twitter account along with a new YouTube account.

Amanda and I were recently in Ontario visiting family and since returning home we both have been working lots. Our friends will be getting married this weekend and we are looking forwards to celebrating with them.

I have been working on the new blog and neglecting this posting location it would seem. I am hoping to be up and running in the middle of September, perhaps sooner. Amanda and I have some trips coming up and we will be wanting to post about them.

Blog Move

The inevitable move to a new blog location is impending. I have been looking at other blogging sites and have been thinking of moving. It would seem that Google is falling behind in the realm with Blogger. Not to mention that my site name has been attracting unwanted visitors. I would suspect that in the next couple weeks you will see my final post here and a link to the new location.

Date Night Idea

Terribly fantastic idea to do with your loved one. Paintball and tea at a cafe combo tonight.

Get your adrenaline up and go out for a couple of rounds of paintball. There is guaranteed to be some kids to shoot at and afterwards she will be very happy to have the opportunity to sit down and have you listen to her and share your week back.

Trending this week has been the new song out by Maroon 5. We have been singing the easy lyrics a bit out climbing this week and it will probably make our mix for at the crag. It has a nice upbeat feel and relatively easy to sing the chorus, what more can you want?

Recently we were in Salmon Arm for a short vacation and to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. The intent was to get to Vancouver this year but it unfortunately did not happen. Who knows maybe we will get there in the winter this year. I wonder if there is ice climbing around Whistler.

How to Write a Successful Blog

I have been working towards putting together a better blog. Here are a few of the things that I have discovered about blogging and how to build a better blog.

Be short and to the point. Most page views are not very long, as well, search results need to communicate quickly your content.

Use pictures or some other media in every post. A picture is still worth one thousand words and a short video even more.

Interact with the audience. Be sure to comment with the viewers. If you are following sites in the hopes that someone will follow you in return you must also interact with them. Additionally make sure that word verification is turned off.

Identify who you are, what you do and be consistent. Viewers will return if you are covering a topic they enjoy.

With that being said I know that there are still areas that I need to improve. I have been working on my brand and being consistent in my posting. Below are some of the stats that I have for my blog. You can see that making sure that some words do not show up in my search results is as important as having the right words.

So it is Friday, time to start the weekend with the significant other. This week I am thinking that it would be a great idea to go see the new movie Friends with Benefits. I was thinking of Crazy, Stupid, Love but with it being opening day maybe that would be better for next week.

To me it looks like a great romantic comedy, I get laughs, she gets to see the love story, we both go home happy.

Now get out tonight and have fun because some of us are stuck at work this long weekend.

Route Scouting

Amanda and I headed out today to look at a potential "new" route. I have not been able to find any information on routes in this area so I finally decided to head out on a scouting mission. We packed along some gear and bush wacked our way up to the rock face. Good bear habitat along the way, only saw elk and deer.

Still happy to be coming along.
