Lorna had a very exciting day 2 weeks ago when she was part of the Queens Baton Relay in her village of Dalmellington. “It was such an honour, privilege and excitement to be carrying the Baton especially through my hometown with everyone I know cheering me on. I was so busy making sure I was doing it all properly and looking down the live feed camera that I actually forgot to look at the Baton! Thank you again to my 2 friends & BE supporter who nominated me Alison Milroy & Lynn Young.” For more photos check out our gallery.

We are getting excited this week because our Founder, Lorna, is a Baton bearer in her village of Dalmellington this Saturday 21st June.

She is bearer no3 on the day and “runs” from Rose Cottage on A713 road up to shops, past her Scout Hall, where she is a member of the committee then finishes at her local butchers, Patersons! At 8.45 AM!! Up in the morning is the game!!

Racenight in Patna

Alistair & Kayleigh Dunn of Patna, organised their own charity race night recently in Patna Golf Club in aid of Cancer Research UK in memory of their Gran. The event was a great success & well supported by family & friends. Their evening …raised a fabulous £1531 which was fully donated to the charity through Butterfly Events, local amassadors for the charity.
Alistair would like to thank everyone who donated, came along or bet on a horse for their event. He would also like to thank his cousin Kayleigh for all her help.

Well done guys, it is great to see young people getting involved with Butterfly Events and Cancer Research UK, thank you so much for your amazing donation and your awareness xxxxx

Philanthropy chance

A group of our young supporters from Auchinleck Academy including, Karen Howat, Lynsey Milligan, Aileen Harvey, Jill Andrew & Reanne Lamont chose Butterfly Events to present about during their school Youth & Philanthropy initiative. I went along to see the presentation which moved to tears, it was fabulous! The girls didn’t win the £3000 on offer, however they were AMAZING in my eyes!! Congratulations to the boy who did win and to his charity, The Lighthouse Foundation from Kilmarnock. Thank you to the Wood family trust for the initiative.
