domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">Meta</category><title>The Outer Limits</title><description>&lt;p&gt;It's been an... &lt;em&gt;interesting&lt;/em&gt; couple of weeks. Work at my day job has been busy (and mildly stressful), I've had to drive to work several times recently (eliminating &lt;a href="http://buyogslair.blogspot.com/2010/04/carpooling-more-mugen-time.html"&gt;that carpooling time&lt;/a&gt; I use to work on stuff like MUGEN), our family vehicle was at the mechanic for a few days, and to top it all off, my (rather expensive) smartphone got stolen right out of my rental car last Friday! AARRRGGGHHHH!&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So, yeah, MUGEN has taken a bit more of a back seat this month than I had hoped. &lt;a href="http://buyog.com/MUGEN/sinestro"&gt;Sinestro 1.0&lt;/a&gt; is still coming &amp;mdash; relatively soon, but I'm not going to give a target date. Instead, I'll get back to posting a &lt;a href="http://buyogslair.blogspot.com/search/label/Release%20Watch"&gt;Release Watch&lt;/a&gt; for him as he progresses. I had to drive to work Monday, effectively eliminating my MUGEN time for that day. Yesterday, I spent some time tweaking things here and there, adding missing "lost by timeout" anims, aligning messed-up custom hit animations for the Piledriver hyper, that sort of thing. As for the final remaining hyper, X-Factor Attacks, I've been hunting down appropriate sound effects; developing during my commute means I've been testing him with the sound off, and didn't even notice how quiet the attack seemed until last night! :-P  I've got Polaris's and Havok's part done, so the sound effects are all that's left there. Love it or hate it, it is what it is this year. So everytime I release stuff over the rest of the month of January will make fun of my lack of schedule-timeliness. Thus, today is the 17th Day of Christmas.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Earlier this month, I released an &lt;a href="http://buyogslair.blogspot.com/2012/01/on-8th-day-of-christmas.html"&gt;update to Parasite&lt;/a&gt; that wasn't quite as done as I'd hoped for. Yes, there are still quite a few unfinished power sets -- that's my next focus with him -- but I had a couple of things I wanted to do for better playability. Today I'm releasing a version that accurately captures that vision:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;pre&gt;* 11 Jan 2012: v2.2.1&lt;br /&gt;  - new level-1 hyper: Quick Snack (QCB + PP/KK), steals a random powerset from someone off-screen&lt;br /&gt;  - fixed this readme to include the command for Feeding Frenzy (weak kick + hard punch or weak punch + hard kick)&lt;br /&gt;  - bugfix to Feeding Frenzy: air version didn't have any sound effect&lt;br /&gt;  - bugfix to re-enable palettes 7 through 12 (which got accidentally disabled)&lt;br /&gt;  - changed command for Power Overload: now it's F,D,DF + punch &amp;amp; kick of equal strength&lt;/pre&gt; &lt;p&gt;Like I said, there's a lot still to be done with him, but I'm pretty happy with the playstyle changes made possible by the new Feeding Frenzy and Quick Snack attacks.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;You can get Parasite v2.2.1 &lt;a href="http://buyog.com/MUGEN/parasite"&gt;here, on his page&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3677928-4386760651938790870?l=buyogslair.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

I guess by now you probably noticed that I took the weekend off. If you don't like that, well, there are plenty of other places on the internet where you can take your clicks. -_-&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I've been hammering away at &lt;a href="http://buyogslair.blogspot.com/search/label/Strong%20Guy"&gt;Strong Guy&lt;/a&gt;'s v2.0 release, trying to get it ready to release. The problem is that it's hard to show you progress when I'm just fine-tuning complicated level-3 hypers now. I could break it down in finer-grained detail and tell you that, since Friday, I've managed to get this much done on the new Megaton Fury hyper:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;got the timing right on the first half (the superpause was in the wrong place, and I didn't realize it at first)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;got the behavior of the Sentinel mostly done (he still needs boot jet anims)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;got the flying rock debris showing up and doing damage&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;got the sentinel explosion coded and timed more or less where I want it (probably still needs a little fine-tuning, honestly)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;p&gt;That just leaves a couple of things to be done with that hyper: &lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;figure out why all of my explods (for the ground smash etc) aren't showing up&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;code the sentinel shrapnel projectiles&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;fix the move startup so it's easier to execute, but also possible for the opponent to block&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;p&gt;Plus I still need to code the X-Factor hyper, which I haven't started yet, and which could be just as complicated. I bring you an updated Parasite. He's mostly bug fixes and added support for our new Flash character, but I also gave him a new special, Feeding Frenzy, designed by Jet the Phoenix. It's got both air and ground versions, and allows Parasite to pounce on his opponent for a quick "snack" to boost his power.
