Will they do the job? And, will they fit the culture of the organization?

First off, how do you know if they can do the job? If you're a subject-matter expert, you can ask for samples of work and evaluate them. Give them hypothetical challenges to solve and pay as much attention to how they address the problem as the solution they come up with. Give them homework between interviews. You can even ask them to complete a project before the first interview, if you like.

But what do you do if you don't have the foggiest idea about their field? How does an engineer hire a marketer? How does a salesperson hire a technical expert? In a word, by scrounging.

One entrepreneur friend of ours mashed up engineers' resumes to create a job description and realized he didn't quite have the background to interview candidates intelligently at first. When the first candidate came in, he started by describing the web application he wanted to build and asked the candidate how he'd do it. The interviewer took furious notes.

When the second and third candidates came in, he asked the same questions, and used what he'd learned from the first interview to challenge their ideas. By the time he got to the 25th or 30th candidate, he might not have known everything about the field but he knew a lot more than when he began. By that point he knew enough to hire an excellent employee.

Next to consider is: Will they do the job? Here, you're looking for motivation.

How committed are the potential candidates? Why are they excited to work for or with you? You want to know about their work ethic, their honesty and their attitude. Ask them tough questions. Force them to express their likes and dislikes, the things they're passionate about and the things they want nothing to do with.

Related: How Many Jobs Can Your Startup Create This Year?

For example, you could describe three hypothetical projects and ask them to rank which they'd most and least like to work on, and why. If the project they say they'd least enjoy happens to be something you want this candidate to do, maybe it will lead you to decide they'd be happier elsewhere.

You'll want to check references, of course, but not just the ones the candidate provides. You can contact their old employers and colleagues, even their old teachers or professors. The federal government investigates 10 or more years into an applicant's past for even the most routine jobs. Shouldn't you do a similar check on the people you're trusting with your new venture's future? Conducting this kind of due diligence on potential employees might surprise a few candidates, but the ones you really want on your team will be impressed.

Finally, will they fit in? This is the most difficult part of the search to evaluate. It's hard to describe in a checklist because you need to see your candidate in different situations. Often, it's not until someone has truly gone through the interview process, accepted the job, come aboard and worked with you for a little while that you truly start to learn who they are. Still, you want to get as much information as you can ahead of time.

Matt Szulik, former CEO of Raligh, N.C.-based open source software company Red Hat, follows an interesting strategy to obtain this kind of information ahead of time. He's convinced that people decide early in their lives what level of success they want to achieve.

Related: How to Hire Positive Employees for Your Business

"For some people, it's academic," he explained. "They want to get a Ph.D. from Cal-Berkeley. For others, it's athletic. They want to be team captain or they want to be a pro athlete. Others, it could be they want to be the CEO of Google. And along the way, they make decisions at every step that would re-affirm the commitment to themselves and the pursuit of those goals."

During an interview, Szulik asks the person what he or she thinks "successful" means, and how that person has tried to achieve it.

"It's amazing how fast 60 minutes can get filled, as an interviewer, by keeping your mouth shut and asking people to tell you their life's journey as they've created their success model," Szulik said." I find that to be completely binary. The ones that have it can take you on a fantastic journey. The ones that don't -- who say, 'You know what, I never really thought about that,' -- cannot."

It seems so simple, but merely asking questions such as these can help job candidates help you, by making your hiring decisions much easier.

Related: Labor Picture May Brighten in 2012

This article is an edited excerpt from Breakthrough Entrepreneurship: The Proven Framework for Building Brilliant New Ventures (Farallon Publishing, 2012) by Jon Burgstone and Bill Murphy Jr.
Did you find this story helpful? What a fatal mistake that was, one that I would pay for dearly. Trust me when

I say that I've made all the newbie bonehead mistakes for you.

Most of my blogs are to assist the newbie but if you're an online pro and need a

crash course on the things you forgot you're welcome too. If I can save just one

person a dollar or five minutes of time management, my work is well worth it. I've

lost thousands of dollars and what adds up to years of time being hard headed.

Here it is cut and dry with no ice, if you're not using analytics in your marketing

arsenal how in the world are you supposed to know where your traffic is coming

from, the date, time, country or anything else? How are you supposed to know what's

clicking with potential clients? Duuuuhhh.

The bottom line is that there's no way you can be successful without analytics,

there's no excuse because there are a ton of free analytic tools out here including

Google. Its impossible to see the results of your SEO and hard work without some

kind of analytic tool, you can't survive without this kind of data to see where

your traffic is coming from.

In closing, you'll have to teach yourself to tweak your marketing campaign if

you're to survive in this game, things are moving way too fast for you to

constantly be on the learning curve, my motto is to learn, impliment, test, test

results, evaluate, and adjust where needed. It never ends because the internet is

learning as we sleep and getting faster.

Internet Marketing is not for the faint of heart or quitters, don't listen to these

Guru's, get a mentor and LISTEN. Remember, a Guru is not programed to give you the

whole puzzle, only part of it. They're wired to keep you on their list and or hook

so you can stay in a perpetual buying mode. They work together because there's more

of us than it is of them, and the Sheep can never know what time it really is.

http://nichesolutionsblog.info

View the original article here

Forget Networking. How to Be a Connector

Connector Josh Bycel raised $50,000 in three weeks to fund a medical clinic at a refugee camp in Darfur.
We all know people like them, people who seem to know everyone. They're always able to help -- or if they can't, they know someone who can. You meet them for the first time and in 15 minutes, you're talking with them like you're childhood friends. They're successful, smart and funny, with a likable touch of self-deprecation. And they're interested in everything.

Who are they? Connectors. Take Maryam Banikarim, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Gannett, publisher of USA Today. She has a perfect job for a connector -- she helps link Gannett's various newspapers and media outlets "and bring the pieces together."

"I like people and am genuinely curious," says Banikarim, 42. "I like stories and want to make connections. But I didn't know the word for it until my husband read Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point and said, 'I finally have a word for you -- a connector.' "

Related: 12 Tips for Trading Places in 2012

As Gladwell writes, "sprinkled among every walk of life . . . are a handful of people with a truly extraordinary knack of making friends and acquaintances. They are Connectors." Gladwell describes them as having an ability to span many different worlds, subcultures and niches.

Traits such as energy, insatiable curiosity and a willingness to take chances seem to be the common thread among connectors -- as well as an insistence that connecting is not the same as networking.

"Networking I see as a means to an end," says Jill Leiderman, executive producer of the late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live. But connecting, she explains, is about using a genuine love of meeting people and making friends to engage and assist one another.

Related: Top Workplace Trend for 2012

Connectors show a willingness to venture outside their comfort zones. For example, comedy writer Josh Bycel (shown top) visited a Darfur refugee camp six years ago, and on the way home he came up with the idea of raising money for a medical clinic for the camp. In three weeks, he had collected $50,000.

That idea grew into a nonprofit called OneKid OneWorld, which aims to connect schools in the United States with those in Kenya and other developing countries to provide everything from books to clean water.

"I'm a comedy writer. I don't know anything about building schools," says Bycel, 40, who lives in Los Angeles. "But I'm interested in learning. You need to get out and make connections outside of your own world. Being interested in lots of different things by definition allows you to be a connector."

The willingness to reach out to someone you don't know is crucial to the art of connecting, and especially important in uncertain economic times. Those who are in mid-career and may have worked for one company for years should learn connecting skills before they need them.

For instance, most people's natural inclination is to seek out friends at meetings and mealtimes. Banikarim says not to do that. "It's easy to sit with someone you know," she says. "It's hard, but more interesting, to sit with someone you don't know. This is not like high school. It's not just the losers who don't have somewhere to sit."

It may seem as if connectors are born, not made, but that's not necessarily true. Banikarim was forced to learn to reach out to people from an early age. She moved with her family from Iran to Paris in 1979, then to Northern California, where there wasn't an Iranian community. "I was often that new kid," she says. When she started college at Barnard, "I knew it was either sink or swim. The first week of school, I joined every club and went to every meeting. I ended up as freshman class president."

Joining clubs and organizations is a terrific way to find like-minded people, but only go when you have an interest -- and don't attend endless networking get-togethers. Keith Ferrazzi, author of Never Eat Alone, says he has never been to an official networking event. Instead, he advises, join organizations that focus on the events and activities you love.

Related: Best Second Act Reinvention 2011: E-book Author John Locke

"I have a friend who is the executive vice president of a large bank in Charlotte," he writes in his book. "His networking hotspot is, of all places, the YMCA. He tells me that at 5 and 6 in the morning, the place is buzzing with exercise fanatics like himself getting in a workout before they go to the office. He scouts the place for entrepreneurs, current customers and prospects."

Of course, when you're walking into that first meeting or class and facing a bunch of strangers, the instinct is to flee. That's all right. The point is not to ignore the fear, but acknowledge it -- and then work through it.

"I sort of just run into fear, as I run into chaos," says Banikarim, whom The New York Post named one of the 50 most powerful women in New York City in 2008 when she worked at Univision. "You breathe deep, and you have to remember that everyone is scared."

Perhaps one of the most important attributes of a connector is a willingness to help and to reach out even if there is no obvious or immediate payback.

That means thinking long-term. Jen Singer is the founder of the blog Mommasaid.net, author of five books, a Pull-Ups spokeswoman and an undeniable connector. "The biggest mistake people make is they think 'if I help this person, that will happen immediately.' We have to stop thinking in linear terms," she says.

Helping others out doesn't mean you can't hold some things back. Singer, 44, uses the word "coopetition" -- a combination of competition and cooperation -- to describe her philosophy. "I think this generation understands you share, but also protect your own interests -- you don't give a key to everything you have. Everybody wants the web to be fast and responsive. Every customer, once given a choice between a fast website and a slow one, will choose the fast one without any second thoughts. This indicates the importance of speed in web based applications. It’s highly important to make your website fast and responsive or else your customer will try a faster alternative to the services offered by your website. The web is becoming really, really fast and there are many web development services that will help you keep up with the pace.

The way forward

The future of any web development company or a firm which gives out services involving development of new websites, mainly concern the fact that fast browsing is the way forward, and the only way forward. So it’s hard to hold against the candle light of older design paradigms and see the future of your business as bright as you want it to be. You will have to substitute the candle light with the flood lights of latest technology web development services. In that scenario all you need is the help of an experienced body of programming personals with years of experience in the field of web development. The specific things to do to improve the performance are a topic of greater depth in programming and optimization, but there are superficial and simple techniques that we can do to improve the speed and loading times of your website.

Simpler methods

A web development company may be helpful in providing you with the kind of tips and tricks, which can be assimilated by a non-programmers mind, which in turn help the company in developing a faster and highly responsive online system for you. You might not want a simple web site but if you think about it further at this point of time in the current marketing strategies fast, steady and simple are winning the race. You can implement all those features you long for in your website in a simple way, which will make it more attractive, steady, quick and snappy. This is what any company or organization or person of important may want. You will get such a simpler service with efficiency and productivity with a smaller cost estimate as compared to a complex design, which will get nowhere other then the sedentary growth rate most organizations are suffering from right now in this economy.
Programming methods
There many programming techniques to make your website quick and responsive which is the most important method, and it is beyond the scope of this discussion, to ask for the detailed description of the kind of programming methods to implement a fast website for your business. But what you would want to do is find the help of experienced web development services to assist you in your venture of making it possible.

Nitesh Ahir is CEO of professional web development company esparkinfo solution. Food will also be front and center this Super Bowl Sunday -- the second biggest eating holiday of the year second only to Thanksgiving. And while chicken wings, chips and dip are game-day favorites, pizza is always in hot demand. In a survey by the National Restaurant Association, 61% of people said pizza was a "must have" item for the big event.

"It's the ultimate fun party food," says Brandon Gorin, owner of two Marco's Pizza franchises near Indianapolis. He should know. Prior to opening his stores last year, Gorin was an offensive tackle in the National Football League and took home two Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots. "We're gearing up for a very big night," he says.

Related: Franchise Industry to Grow in 2012 -- Report

In fact, the Super Bowl is the biggest day of the year for most pizza franchises. Domino's, for example, expects to sell more than 11 million slices of pizza -- 80% more than a typical Sunday. Papa John's, which is the official pizza of this year's bowl, will give out free pizza and Pepsi to its rewards members if online voters successfully predict which team will win the coin toss.

Of course, pizza's appeal isn't just during football season. Overall, "these concepts are doing very well," says Keith Hudson, president and CEO of Charter Franchise Group, a Houston franchise consultancy, adding that pizza's low cost has worked in its favor in the post-recession years. Meanwhile, the top pizza chains have improved their game plans with streamlined ordering and efficient delivery systems, he adds.

Still, would-be franchisees need to tread carefully in this crowded category, starting by knowing what concepts will work best in their markets, whether it's delivery, take-out, buffet or a full-service restaurant. One thing to watch out for is excessive couponing. "If you're constantly having to get people in the door with coupons, it's a money loser," says Hudson.

Likewise, too many exotic toppings can eat into the bottom line. "The pizza concepts that have done best are the ones that don't get into too many high-end ingredients," he says.

Related: How to Avoid a Franchise Fad

Prior to buying his franchises Gorin looked at everything from self-serve yogurt and gourmet burgers to kids' bounce houses, but was most impressed with Marco's menu, marketing and growth potential. "I wanted to use something where my football background would lend some advantage," says Gorin. "Pizza seemed like a great fit."

Here are the top 10 pizza chains from Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 list, as measured by such factors as financial strength and stability, growth rate, breadth, experience and startup costs.

View Slideshow as a Single Page View As Slideshow Prev Next <IMG alt="10. Straw Hat's California-style pizza was a huge hit, and quickly grew to be one of the largest pizza chains on the West Coast. In the late 1980s Pizza Hut bought the franchise operation and most of the franchises but some Straw Hat franchisees didn't sell. They joined forces and held onto the concept of using fresh, local ingredients, ultimately franchising again in late 2009. In fewer than two years some two dozen franchises have opened in Arkansas, Montana, Nevada and Texas.

Headquarters: Columbus, Ohio
Year it began franchising: 1991
Number of franchises: 105 franchises plus 51 company-owned units
Startup costs: $405,000 to $705,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 250

No matter how you slice it, the Super Bowl is a big event for this proprietor of pizza, subs, salads and wings. Sunday's game, in fact, will be the culmination of the chain's aggressive marketing campaign promoting its pizza and wing bundles. Donatos debuted its crispy thin crust in 1963 when Jim Grote, then a sophomore at Ohio State University, opened his Columbus pizza joint with $1,300 in his pocket and the goal of bringing real Italian pizza to the Midwest. McDonald's bought the franchise company in 1999, but four years later Grote and his daughter, Jane, bought it back. Today, Donatos offers franchisees a time-tested product and flexible real estate strategy.

Headquarters: Annapolis, Md.
Year it began franchising: 1989
Number of franchises: 98
Startup costs: $115,250 to $419,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 242

With its rectangular pans and thick pepperoni, Ledo Pizza opened its doors in 1955 and quickly became an Annapolis institution among politicians, athletes and university students. In 1989 the company began franchising, making Ledo Pizza a household name in Maryland and other Mid-Atlantic states. The menu goes beyond pizza to include lasagna, spaghetti, soup, salad and subs. One thing Ledo Pizza doesn’t offer: Delivery. It does, however, let customers order half-baked pizzas to heat and enjoy at home.

Headquarters: Orange City, Iowa
Year it began franchising: 1984
Number of franchises: 162 franchised units plus two company-owned
Startup costs: $800,000 to $1.9 million
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 190

Americans may be minding their budgets, but that doesn't mean they've given up going out altogether. That's good news for family restaurants like Pizza Ranch, which saw its sales volume increase more than 19% in 2011; average unit growth was close to 14%. The concept started in 1981 when a young Iowan, Adrie Groeneweg, started selling homemade pizza using recipes developed by his mom. Today, Pizza Ranch's stand-alone restaurants seat more than 200 people, and offer diners a "mile-long" buffet of pizza, chicken and dessert in a cozy western setting; take-out and delivery are also an option. The concept has caught on, making Pizza Ranch one of the largest regional chains in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Headquarters: Morristown, N.J.
Year it began franchising: 1999
Number of franchises: 152
Startup costs: $296,000 to $572,000 for food court units
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 188

You wouldn't expect an American pizza franchise to make inroads in Italy. Yet in 1996, Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen managed to do just when it opened a franchise in Naples, the birthplace of pizza. It wasn't such a stretch, considering that when Villa founder and Neapolitan Michele Scotto opened his pizzeria in New York City in 1964 he used recipes he brought with him from the Old Country. In the nearly five decades since, the company has introduced other Italian fare developed by its culinary team in a state-of-the-art test kitchen. But the pizza is still just like Scotto used to make.

Headquarters: Sterling Heights, Mich.
Year it began franchising: 1990
Number of franchises: 219
Startup costs: $385,000 to $445,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 136

Though best known for its signature deep-dish square pizza, Jet's Pizza has also won over customers with its submarine sandwiches, salads, breadsticks and wings. Founded by Eugene and John Jett in 1978, Jet's started franchising in 1990 and has since grown to more than 200 franchises in more than a dozen states. The company gives its franchisees strict guidelines and "tasty" secrets to make sure every order is fresh, delicious and consistent.

Headquarters: Toledo, Ohio
Year it began franchising: 1978
Number of franchises: 279 stores in 21 states
Startup costs: $179,500 to $349,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 113

Marco's Pizza was founded in Toledo, Ohio, in 1978 by Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco, from Italy, who wanted to create an authentic Italian pizza chain. The company sold its first franchise a year later, reached 100 stores by 1994 and in 2004 changed hands. Under new ownership the company has thrived – but Pat's secret sauce and fresh-made dough remains constant. In 2011, Marco's Pizza opened 61 locations, and more than 100 stores are slated to open in the 2012 fiscal year. Same store sales, meanwhile, were up about 7.5% in 2011.

Headquarters: Madison Heights, Mich.
Year it began franchising: 1982
Number of franchises: 546
Startup costs: $225,000 to $358,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 79

Hungry Howie’s got its start nearly four decades ago in a converted hamburger shop in Taylor, Mich. The market was indeed hungry. By 1985, just three years after the company started its franchise operations, it had more than 65 locations; in 2005 it reached 500. Although franchise growth has slowed a bit, same-store sales remain hearty – up 7.7% in 2011. Flavored crusts are a big part of Hungry Howie’s lure. Customers can choose from eight different tastes, including garlic herb, onion, sesame, ranch and Cajun.

Headquarters: Louisville, Ky.
Year it began franchising: 1986
Number of franchises: 2,476 North American franchises
Startup costs: $115,000 to $500,000
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 31

Papa John's early history reads like many pizza franchises: A young John Schnatter figures he can make a better pizza and begins delivering pies from a glorified broom closet in his father's Jeffersonville, Ind., bar. Yet somewhere along the way, Papa John's, which is now publicly traded, entered the big leagues. The brand boasts 3,900 locations globally and is slated to reach 4,000 by the middle of this year. Would-be franchisees are drawn to such incentives as no franchise fee, up to $50,000 in free equipment, a $3,000 food service credit and an initial break from paying royalties. Pizza customers, meanwhile, enjoy a system-wide rewards program that will give Papa Rewards members a free pizza if America correctly calls the coin toss on Feb. 5.

Headquarters: Plano, Texas
Year it began franchising: 59
Number of franchises: 5,555 franchises and 458 company units
Startup costs: $320,000 to $2.2 million
Overall 2012 Franchise 500 rank: 9

Pizza Hut, which is owned by publicly-traded Yum! Brands, is an old hat among national pizza chains, but in recent years it's undergone some notable improvements. It shed its pricy image with $10 any-topping large pizzas, introduced chicken wings to its menu, and improved its online order and delivery system. Moreover, it ramped up growth of smaller stores focused on carry-out and delivery making Pizza Hut stores a viable option in more markets. While the company is one of the biggest of the bunch, with thousands of franchises around the world, just 148 franchisees own units of this iconic brand.

View the original article here

West Bengal Police 1000 Constable Recruitment 2012 Notification

Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.

View the original article here

What You Need to Know About Brand Building vs. SEO

There’s no doubt you should aim to both build brand awareness and improve your company website’s search engine optimization (SEO). But how should you plan your marketing efforts when the two priorities don’t always align well?

For example, if your small business suffers from low brand awareness online, optimizing your website to rank well for brand keywords in search results might not be effective. An example of this could be targeting the phrase “Best Buy” instead of “32 inch LCD TV.” After all, few people are likely to be searching for those specific phrases if they aren’t familiar with your company in the first place.

The converse also holds true. If you’re looking to build a business that’s successful in the long run, you need a recognizable brand, not just a few high rankings for generic search terms. Home Depot, for example, doesn’t fare well in organic search results but still leads the home-improvement industry and enjoys enormous brand recognition.

Here’s how to balance these competing opportunities to promote your brand and build traffic through search engine results:

Related: Three Steps to Optimize Your Website For Google's 'Freshness' Update

Analyze the Potential of Branding Your Business
Decide whether to focus on brand building or SEO by analyzing your business model and long-range goals. Are you simply looking to make a few dollars selling products online? If so, there’s no reason to build traffic for brand keywords. Concentrate instead on the buyer-oriented phrases your target customers will be looking for in search engines, as determined through keyword research and the search keywords found in your website analytics program.

On the other hand, brand building can be a must if you want to expand your company’s web presence and become recognized as a leader in your industry. In that case, consider splitting your efforts. Increase brand recognition by commenting on and contributing to industry websites and social networking sites, which can also help to improve your rankings for brand keywords. Consider targeting generic keywords in your SEO efforts -- at least, until your recognition grows to the point that brand keyword traffic is self-sustaining.

Related: Seven Tips for Improving Pay-Per-Click Campaigns

Consider the New Role of Personalized Search
Recently, Google launched “Search, Plus Your World,” which displays items a business determines will be relevant to it based on its personal connections. They appear alongside the traditional SEO-based results.

As an example, say you subscribe to the RSS feeds of several different blogs about bodybuilding -- a notoriously competitive search environment. When you search using keywords related to bodybuilding, you might get results from certain blogs because you’re already following them. With Google’s new feature, it doesn’t matter that the blogs aren’t strong enough to achieve high rankings on their own.

Because of this new development, a case can be made for the power of brand building. Companies with established brands are often more likely to be mentioned in blogs and on social networking sites than businesses without a strong image. Because these social mentions are now included in search results, brand building can be an important way to leapfrog the traditional SEO rankings and draw more traffic to your site.

Related: A Six-Step Survival Guide for Search Engine Updates

Identify the Ideal Blend
No matter what industry you’re in or the type of business you’re trying to build, consider including both brand building and SEO in your marketing strategy. You don’t have to focus exclusively on one technique at the expense of the other.

If you determine that brand building should pay off better, focus on building links from other websites pointing back to your own pages that use brand keywords as your anchor text -- the underlined text that people click on to follow a link -- and invest a significant effort in your social media presence. Mentions of your brand in social media are likely to lead to increased exposure and greater awareness.

But because it may take some time for your brand to permeate the digital world, also consider investing at least a small amount of time in generic search phrases related to your business. As your brand awareness grows, you can dial down the amount of time spent on generic keywords.

And even if you plan to rely on generic keyword search results for the bulk of your traffic, there’s still value in doing some brand building activities. Google’s expansion of personalized search, as well as its elimination of thin content sites through the Panda updates, seems to indicate the company’s preference for strong, well-defined brands. Remember to include at least a few brand keywords in your SEO activities to reap the benefits they can bring to your website.

Did you find this story helpful? Phimation has a strong focus on Second Stage companies, which are defined as organizations that have grown past start-up with typically 20 to 200 employees.

“Second Stage companies are the unsung heroes of the economy. They are able to adapt more quickly than large companies, and commit more resources to opportunities than start-ups and very small businesses,” said David Haviland, founder and chief executive officer of Phimation.

“We owe much of our economic growth to Second Stage companies, but they get very little attention considering the large contribution they make,” he added.

Haviland recognized eight emerging trends while assessing issues in small businesses’ operations and markets.
Here are Phimation’s Eight Small Business 2012 Trends:
The New Agraria – Small businesses will face an environment more like 1800s farming than the industrial economy they’ve come to know and experience. They need to expect “seasons” and different “weather patterns” in their markets, and take one plot at a time as innovation continues to shift their markets. As a modern difference, small businesses will work in communities defined by interest, instead of geography.MAD World (Massive Adaptation Daily) – With economic and technological change, companies will need to be highly nimble for daily survival. The leading companies will engage employees to evolve in significant ways that create new opportunities and efficiencies. The Almighty Network – There will continue to be a powerful shift between physical and virtual worlds. The Internet will keep equipping small businesses with essential availability, intelligence, capability, and capacity to serve their customers. But it’s not just a one-way relationship. The Network is demanding more from small businesses.Stretched – As small businesses get stretched by current conditions, their leaders will be forced to up their game. The best leaders will respond to the challenges and gain strength. Meanwhile, the same challenges will sap weaker leaders.Lean and Mean — The smartest companies will run lean operations and take a strong growth-oriented approach to the most important parts of their businesses.Investing in the Dark – The best companies will make strategic investments and implement “traction control systems” for their investments by upgrading their accountability and decision-making processes. Leaders cannot see very far ahead, so they’re relying on “improved handling” to ensure their success.Thirty-Somethings – This generation is now significantly impacting small business, as they move into leadership positions. Companies are taking advantage of the new set of capabilities that these young leaders bring to the workplace.Empathy: Humanity’s Best App – At a time when the world is becoming very complicated, empathy makes the world a simpler place for human connection. While small businesses no longer rely just on physical proximity to connect with customers, they will use The Almighty Network to create emotional proximity.
Ann Arbor-based Phimation Strategy Group provides management consulting, coaching, and training for small business and Second Stage companies. The Group’s goal is to help companies grow by offering a variety of programs, presentations, tools and consulting. Phimation CEO Dave Haviland is author of the Small Business 2012 Trend Report and The Stage 2 Owner’s Manual. After all, if you're going to be tweeting and updating your status on LinkedIn and all, it's helpful if you can link back to some tasty piece of content on your site. Blogging makes that easy to do.

But that doesn't mean blogging is right for your small business, as the blog Reputation Capital pointed out earlier this week. Here are a few reasons you might want to hold off on blogging at your business:
No one has time. Be honest with yourself about whether you could spare at least two or three hours a week to write. If no one at the business can do it, consider hiring a professional writer -- the study found 10 percent of small business owners hired this task out. Without somebody committed to posting, you'll end up with a dusty blog that hasn't been updated in six months, which makes a worse impression than if you never blogged at all.
You don't know what to say. Develop a calendar of at least four post ideas each month, month after month -- and they shouldn't be product releases.
You don't have a realistic goal. What are you hoping the blog will do? You likely won't boost sales, as less than half of business bloggers said their blog achieved that goal. By contrast, 88 percent said it generated great exposure for their brand.
You're not careful. Nothing erodes a company's credibility faster than a sloppy, typo-filled blog post.
You haven't established your tone. Successful blogging businesses have an online writing style that's consistent and makes visitors feel comfortable. Another benefit: if you can establish a company-wide writing style, more than one person can post.
You don't use social media. Many people think you write a blog post and -- presto -- thousands of people will stampede to your site. But blogging doesn't work like that. After you write it, someone has to promote that post online. This is where social-media skills come in.
You think it's about you. Blogs are a powerful tool for getting to know your customers and building relationships with them.
You don't trust your bloggers. If you're delegating blogging, you need to give that person the authority to represent your brand online. Otherwise, it'll be rounds of editing by committee, resulting in junk posts.
You want to close the comments. Many businesses are afraid of what their customers might say on their blog. But blogs are all about engagement, so you need to be willing to take reader feedback.
You're not willing to invest in design. Your company blog needs to look clean and inviting, so that readers want to stick around and it's clear what you want them to do next (usually, subscribe).
What are your best tips for managing your business's blog? Let us know in the comments section.
Did you find this story helpful? So Hello Kitty is one of the biggest brands on planet Earth. Now there’s KISS Hello Kitty, which we’ve already launched in 90 countries. We’re talking with Angry Birds, KISS and Angry Birds, which will become a deal. The KISS and the Archie world have now teamed up and the first issues of KISS Archie comic books hits the world this month. KISS golf courses are starting in Las Vegas right across from the Hard Rock. That opens in January. It’s just endless what we can do, but we only do things when it’s right. Just because there are games, and just because there’s this or that out there, unless the deal is right and unless the content is exciting to our fans, we don’t do it.

KISS has some of the most hardcore fans I’ve ever seen! It says the fee is needed to offset the cost of the pages, the time spent affixing the pages into the passport book, endorsing the passport and performing a quality-control check.

View the original article here

Baristas, the Hooters of Coffee, Tries Reality TV

Baristas Coffee, a sort of Hooters on caffeine, caters to those who like their coffee hot and their servers hotter -- you know, customers who enjoy cheesecake with their java. Let's not be coy about it, though, because the attention-seeking Seattle franchise certainly isn't.

Baristas, which plans to open new shops nationwide, is developing its own reality TV series to promote its brand and holding auditions to cast what it refers to as "hot young girls as servers."

The company freely admits that it distinguishes itself from Starbucks and other competitors by hiring "attractive female baristas in entertaining costumes" at its drive-through shops in its home state, where it has six locations, and in Texas and Florida. Its website depicts women clad in fishnet stockings, bustiers and other skimpy garments, one of whom also appears to be wearing Minnie Mouse ears.

Filming is scheduled to start this month.

"The show profiles the fierce competition between baristas for top shifts as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by the management while expanding the business," the company said in a release.

It's unclear what television network will broadcast the reality show, which is targeted to viewers younger than age 30. In a statement, CEO Barry Henthorn said M&M Productions, known for a poker series on FOX Television, would produce and Mark Teitelman, whose credits include "Hoosiers 2," would direct the show.

"The show will be a character-driven, drama-filled adventure and a true soap opera," M&M CEO Mark Mayer said.

In recent years, a number of reality shows have elevated the profiles of businesses, including "Cake Boss," "Pawn Stars," "Ace of Cakes" and "American Chopper." Many others, though, have been short-lived or forgettable.

A "Baristas" casting call earlier this week at its soon-to-open location in Tampa didn't exactly draw crowds, although that may not be an indicator of the show's potential. The Tampa Bay Times reported that the tryouts there attracted a "diverse pool" but lines didn't stretch around the block, as organizers had hoped.

Did you find this story helpful? I was confused to say the least. Not long afterwards, I tried Kajabi as another option. Here are a few of the features that I found most impressive.

PayPal Integration – Kajabi is how I actually found out that you could create a membership site with a free PayPal account. This has motivated me to take the time to learn more about the tools that I already have access too. The integration is slightly technical, but there are some really good tutorial videos to walk you through the process.

Clickbank Integration – Every new product on Clickbank seems to have a membership site attached to it. The reason is because Kajabi makes it so easy. Also the top selling products on Clickbank all have video sales pages and killer sales and marketing funnels. You can literally be a rookie at product launches, sales funnels, and the maze of confusing internet marketing strategies, and still come out looking like an experienced pro once you set up your marketing campaign with Kajabi.

Professional Custom Squeeze Pages – All of the internet marketing systems out there that offer Done-For-You Squeeze Pages to their members use Kajabi. Of course it also integrates seamlessly with the top autoresponders on the market, but I can honestly say that this is the first platform I have seen that merges with Infusionsoft.

Okay, I am getting excited all over again writing about this robust marketing system. Setting up your membership site is just a fraction of what you will be able to do with this marketing beast. I could go on and on about the benefits and features but they explain everything on their website.

Also this is a hosted platform, which means you do not have to deal with the headache of downloading any complicated membership software to your hard drive and then uploading it to your server.

If you are starting from scratch and want to become a millionaire online, the first thing you need to do is decide on a niche where you will have a competitive advantage in the marketplace. That means you are passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. This will allow you to create high value content and information products.

Then you need to invest in basic tools like a domain name , your own web hosting account, and an autoresponder so you can start marketing your information products. Once you start generating profits, don’t run out and spend it all, like most frivolous people who lack self-discipline. Always save a percentage of every dollar that you earn and reinvest a percentage of your profits in the right tools to grow your business.

I accidently set up my first membership site when I started learning how to market online. Download my FREE Report, “How to Create Your First Membership Site, even if you have no technical skills” at www.2kin10days.com/msite

View the original article here
