Its always an honor to be apart of any event or someone's special day, but a wedding has an unique place in my heart. A couple's biggest day, the celebration, all the preparation and money that goes into making sure that it's their version of perfect and it goes on without a hitch. That is where I come in for this Lucky in Love couple. When Cyndi came to me about decorating I was all in before she could finish asking me to be their wedding decorator. This was the first wedding that I had more than just tablescapes to execute. I was in charge of crafting a picture frame photo prop, sweetheart table initials, flower girl basket. a bouquet with bling and boutonniere with style to match both Brides' personality 😉.

The color scheme of gray, shades of yellow and a touch of sparkle were perfect for this 7-7-17 summer wedding. Cue the pictures:

Yellow, silver/gray, and white flowers with faux florals and a bling base and broaches for the bouquet.

KD loves baseball but more importantly her Boston Red Sox. When I saw the Red Sox charm I knew it was perfect for her.

Tulle, chiffon, organza silk, vintage chic and sparkly details for the main centerpieces.

Southern Jeweled, is the perfect venue for a vintage chic ambiance.

What a prefect ending to an amazing day. Congrats Mrs. & Mrs. Johnson!

Tutu Cute Baby Shower

I love working with tulle. It is a very simple material that can be manipulated easily into anything.

Beach Theme Wedding Reception

The lovely Mr. & Mrs. Morgan went the destination wedding route and recited their vows on a beautiful sandy beach in Mexico. Then decided to bring the beach (theme) back to the great state of Texas to celebrate with family and friends.

For this beach inspired reception we went with teal, seashells, pearls, candles, burlap and sand decor with shimmery accents.

One of the highlights of the decor was this fabulous gold sequin backdrop with a teal curtain that everyone struck a pose in front of.

The beach sand trays, vellum and sequins lampshades, fishing net wrapped mason jars, and hand painted and glittered shells decor were all custom made (by The CGD studio of course).

Gender Reveal BaByQ theme

The mother-to-be's dad is a barber and her mother is a wonderful hairstylist (I know from first hand experience). So the theme to the reveal party: Barber shop or Beauty shop? Clippers or Combs?

My friend/hairstylist Kisha is always coming up with out-of-the-world (way beyond the box) themes for parties so I had to come through with her vision. You don't wanna even know what her first theme was gonna be 😣.

Hollywood Sweet 16!

I love any party theme but the Hollywood theme gets a little more love because you can be as glamorous as you want.

I was tasked with making the rep carpet stanchions and "velvet" ropes and a mini step repeat background for a Sweet 16.

For the stanchions: concrete, small pie pans for the molds, PCV pipe, caps and sleeves (they might not be called that but you get the point), glitter tape, glitter sealer (it is a must trust me), 7/8" gold cup hooks and a drill to make the holes.

For the "velvet" ropes: installation tubes, fleece fabric, red ribbon, and plenty of hot glue 😉

Necklace holder

Don't stash your wearable art in a drawer or in a armoire where it can't be seen, display it. If your like my friend that I made this for and have tons of necklaces this would be perfect for you. It's wall decor that's functional because it holds your beautiful jewelry, decorates your wall and is a shelf as well.

I swear that two socks go into the dirty clothes hamper then the washing machine and then the dryer but when it comes time to match them and put them away one is missing. This is one of life's many mysteries. At least this is a cute way to display the separated sock until it is reunited with its mate (hopefully):

Bee themed baby shower:

Decorating for this baby shower was a little challenging, not because of decorations or planning but because I knew the sex of the baby and couldn't tell anyone.... yeah challenging. On the other hand it was kinda fun to know something that only me and the mom-to-be knew. It was suppose to be a true gender reveal shower and she was going to find out along with her family and friends, but the sonogram show very clearly what the sex is.

Wedding decor

I love attending weddings and witnessing two people express their love and make promises of happily ever after. But a very close second to being invited to one is being able to create something for one.

I was excited when the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. came to me to create a banner announcing their new family. The Henderson Wedding theme: Country Chic with sunflowers, burlap and lace.

Sure there are those fancy die cutting machines that cut letters but i still prefer painting by hand with help from stencils.

That's me painting away.

Not only is it wedding decor but it will be framed and hung in their home as a reminder of their special day! I couldn't be any happier 😊!

I have a jewelry armoire but the side doors that hold my necklaces were getting crowded and some of my necklaces were too long. I also needed something on the short wall between my closet and bathroom so I killed two birds with one stone by making this:

Correction I killed three birds with one stone, I also finally put to use the fabulous sequined paper I found at Michael's.

I knew right away whatever I was gonna make was going to include two things: chevron and grey. As I've said before choosing colors and color combinations is the hardest decision because the possibilities are endless. After staring at my color board and paints for days I narrowed it down to turquoise, magenta, yellow, and black. And well you see the winning colors. But I have some black and magenta knobs to switch if I feel like a change :).

Pretty in Purple

I love monochromatic color schemes. There are so many to decorate with other color combinations or themes anyway but, in my opinion, monochromatic color schemes are the best because its one color but a variety of hues to choose from.

As you can tell from the pictures the color requested for the birthday dinner was purple with touches of gray and sparkle.

The centerpiece for the main table was fun to make. I opted for faux flowers because of their variety of colors and availability. I found purple feathers, plumes, flexible wire that I curled, and flowers with pearls and broaches for their centers. And added the crystal that's hanging for a lil glamour.

Tulle pinned with vintage broaches on the ends and sprinkled with small paper flowers were used as runners. Cylinder glass vases wrapped in dark grey glittered paper with "diamond" embellishments topped with hydrangeas on glass candle plates were the centerpieces for the other tables.

Waste not, want not

I don't believe in wasting, especially craft supplies. Even though you can usually catch scrapbook paper on sale, if not its only about 0.50 - 2.00 depending what type of paper you buy. I have a drawer full of scraps of paper to use for small projects or embellishments.

After punching circles out I used a whole punch to make my own confetti for a baby shower I'm decorating for as I mentioned in my previous post. Silly? Maybe but I'm happy lol.

Being resourceful

Decorating for a baby shower later this month and the theme is Cute as a Button/polka dots and the color scheme is pink, brown and orange.

The 12x12 on the left came from a pack and it only had 4 sheets so I had to get resourceful and create my own. All it took was finding paper that matched and Hobby Lobby was my go to place. Their paper aisle is inspiring and stocked with many colors and patterns AND that week the papers were 50% off!!! Love it :)

I used a 1.5" circle punch and duplicated the pattern. One row I had to improvise because the original sheet's circles are bigger. I am very happy with how it turned out.

St. Patrick Themed Baby Shower

It is so many ways you can decorate any holiday themed party or shower- and that can be a good and bad thing because of the endless possibilities. For this St. Patrick's themed baby shower we (the mom-to-be's sister and I) had plenty of ideas but we decided to focus on three elements: the pot of gold, the rainbow and shamrocks.

I love that food and candy are one of the easiest ways to incorporate colors and add to the theme. This array of fruit was for the guess to make their own skewers for the chocolate fountain.

Skittles, M&Ms and Life Savers candies separated.

A round glass bowl with a green tulle bow, scrapbook paper cut into strips and adhered to water bottles and glass bowls was very inexpensive (especially if you can catch a deal like 5 for $1 at Michael's or Hobby Lobby )

Wish i had a better picture of the ribbon rainbow I made ( note to self- make sure to hire a photographer). Instead of a pot of gold at the end of it there was something much better - her baby shower gifts!

Sleeping On Clouds (Baby Photography)

There is nothing sweeter or more angelic than a sleeping baby. When my son was a baby I could stare at him for the longest time just admiring his little features and waiting for him to smile on his sleep.

Little Miss A'Niya Mecole inspired me to make this scene to photograph her sleeping so angelically.

I used her changing table and most materials were purchased from my favorite store Hobby Lobby: the sky background (bulletin paper), fabrics, flowers, and clouds (pillow stuffing).

I am aware that Halloween was about four months ago but due to moving and my house being turned upside down I am just now finding the time (and my memory card) to upload my projects :).

Every captain needs a ship so when I learned that this adorable lil buccaneer needed a ride I was much obliged to make one for Captian Jax.

Dabbling In photography

As a crafter I've always had an eye for looking at objects or people in a different way. When I make anything I try to keep two things in mind: the cost and the result. If I can create something that's beautiful yet inexpensive I'm one happy crafter!

My friend, Ranisha (pictured below) wanted to take preggo pics and I offered my services to save money.
Now I'm not a professional photographer but I do love to take pictures of my friends and family, so I thought what the heck I'd give it a go.

Ranisha has a beautiful home that gets plenty of natural light so little effort was made when taking the pictures. I styled her by added some accessories from my own stash (the pearl necklace and ring and sheer polka dot gloves).

Update a plain headband

Got one of these in your accessories pile that's plain and needs a little pizzazz?

All it takes is some simple supplies and 10 minutes to dress up an old/plain headband.

Materials:
•Any headband
•Flowers (any kind will do, I actually used paper flowers from my scrapbook supplies but silk ones will do too)
•Stiff felt
•Jewel or button accent
•hot glue gun and glue sticks
•scissors

How-to:

Glue flowers together and adhere accent in middle. Then cut about an 1x3 inch strip of felt (length will depend on how wide your headband is), make a loop and glue ends together. The loop is so that the flower can be easily removed if needed. Glue flower to felt loop and slide on the headband!

Niah's Fairy Princess outfit

My little cousin is like every other little girl and loves to dress up and pretend to be a ballerina, princess, or fairy. She had the typical princess outfit but was missing the fairy/ballerina outfit.

There are tons of tutorials in the internet and YouTube on how to make a tutu. Simple and easy to make and the possibilities are endless.

Materials:
•Tulle (fuchsia and lime) - I found mine in the wedding section at Michael's ($3/spool), plenty of colors to choose form. You can also buy it on the bolt and cut into strips, but I like simple so I bought the spool because all I had to do was cut the right length.

• Elastic band - measure waist and sew 2" smaller

Cut 24" strips of tulle and fold in half. Make loop and place behind the elastic band. Pull ends of tulle through loop and pull tight. You can make tie into a knot if you wish.

The wand:

• wooden dowel painted pink
• butterfly from the floral section at Hobby Lobby
• ribbon tied under the butterfly to add a whimsical touch.

Roses are Red bridal shower

I am always looking for ways to express my creativity, so when my friend Kisha asked me to help decorate a bridal shower she was hosting I think I said "yes" before she could finish asking me! LOL. The theme: Roses are Red and we decided to add touches of sexy and dainty accents with the lace and pearls.

The Bride-To-Be's name is Mahogany so I made a "M" out of silk roses to greet the guess as they come in and signed the guess book.

The beautiful rose topiaries you see here are made from felt circles and I got the inspiration from The Idea Room's Heart Felt Wreath post. Easy to make but very time consuming. I added pearl corsage pins to the balls to tie in the pearls draping from the glass cylinder that are wrapped in black ace trim.

I made the rose pens for the guess to use for the bridal shower games. This craft very was easy to make. Buy roses, cut steams but leave about 1-2 inches, tape to pen and wrap with floral tape.

Bought a spool of black lace from Hobby Lobby to use as table runners. "Diamonds" added a little sparkle and flare because they are a girl's best friend.

Small picture clips were purchased at Michael's Crafts stores in the Dollar Section ($1 each). Instead of pictures I clipped love quotes the I had in my scrapbooking supplies and added a 1" square of damask cardstock to the bottom where a picture would usually go.

I didn't create this but I had to show the creativity!

The rosy picture frame was purchased at Michael's, I put black and white damask fabric in the frame with a double heart accent.

\And last but definitely not least the beautiful Bride-To-Be (well now the new Mrs Gould): Mahogany!

French memo board

Oooh lala is what I was thinking when I made this French inspired memo board. Black and white damask fabric with pink ribbon. This was my first memo board and it came out great! Although I wish I could have found little Eiffel Tower brads or pins to go over the black decorative brads.... the search continues (lol).

This project is simple and easy to make. By changing the fabric, color, size of board, ribbon, or brads you can customize this project to fit your specific needs.

Damask fabric: $4
Ultra fine batting - $5 (I only used about 1/4 of the package)
12x24 wood board: $4
Pink ribbon - $1
Decorative brads - $1

other materials already on hand: staple gun, centering ruler and yard stick (measure and space ribbon diamonds), and hammer for the brads.
