Here is a terrific idea. It gets me thinking of ways to hide
all the ugly things we have that we don’t want to look at. I hid the sub-woofer
in my living room. I actually designed the entire room around hiding it. I love

I updated a ton of stuff with ASCP; chalk paint. It’s easy to layer on and when you sand it a bit it blends so well. I also love to buff it with a dry rag. When we got wood floors I had to refinish the banister. I sanded it down and scrapped off all the old varnish. I left it assembled to do the job. I cleaned and tried it well before I started painting. I free handed the entire job and touched up as I felt it needed. What I thought was a desk was actually a vanity. The center lifts up and inside there is a vanity compartment and a mirror. I had to repair the brackets sp0 it would stay open. It was very fragile. Its old the center is heavy and the legs are thin. It was falling apart. I have had to clamp, glue, and rig this bad boy. I was not going to give up. I love apothecary jars..why? They add scale while not taking up space. Its a glass outline that can be fully or partially filled allowing for neutral or color pops.

I sprayed them white and ivory with kylon dual paint-primer, I painted on ikea glazing paint in red (really orange). 












I painted a first coat of ASCP in French linen and then thick French linen and old white to create textured and worn look. French linen again and then washed over with old white and French linen sanding between applications to create a cohesive finish. I knew the final destination for this table-bench was my bedroom. So I wanted it finished the same as my bedroom furnature. I also wanted it to be special and I wanted it to transition to another room latter should I decide to move it. 



There was little about this piece that was special or pretty before. I had been looking for one for a while and am SO happy to have found one.
