Heute kam auf dem Discovery Channel eine Sendung über den Flugzeugträger "Ronald Reagan". Ich dachte mir: Guck doch mal nach ob da irgendwo mehr drüber steht. Grosse Geräte find ich interessant. Und so nen Schiff ist nen sehr grosses Gerät. Dort steht dann auch zum Thema Flugzeugträger: "Große Flugzeugträger (Flottenflugzeugträger) mit einer Verdrängung von über 75.000 ts werden in Trivialliteratur und -medien manchmal Supercarrier genannt."

Beim Artikel über den Träger "Ronald Reagan" steht dann: Der Supercarrier ist das neunte Schiff der Klasse und wurde nach dem US-Präsidenten Ronald Reagan benannt.

Wir haben noch August, wenn auch nur noch knapp. Doch schon heute konnten im Netto-Supermarkt in Barßel die Vorboten der Adventszeit aufgefunden werden: Gewürzspekulatius. Jenes Gebäck, das man in der dunklen Jahreszeit bei Kerzenlicht knabbert. Nun, damit ist die Weihnachtssaison 2009 offiziell eröffnet.

Spätestens am ersten Advent kann keiner mehr die Dinger sehen geschweige denn essen.

Ich finds ja garkeine schlechte Idee, das es bei Philips Geräte zur Beziehungspflege (komisch, früher nannte man das Vibrator) gibt. Philips braucht auch neue Geschäftsfelder. Aber liebe Namensentwickler, musstet ihr den Teilen unbedingt so hocherotische Namen wie HF8430 geben. "Schaaaatz, verwöhn mich doch mal mit dem HF8340" ...

Wichtig auch: Die Webseite gibt die Möglichkeit ein Datenblatt herunter zu laden, in dem dann auch so wichtige Daten wie Geräuschentwicklung geschrieben sind (Geräuschpegel (Durchschnitt): 32 dB, Geräuschpegel (max.): 43 dB). Auch wird genau spezifiziert, mit welcher Frequenz die Beziehung gepflegt wird (Frequenz (max.): 95 Hz). Ist ja wieder mal typisch Grosskonzern. Alles genau spezifiziert. Wahrscheinlich hat das Teil auch eine spezifizierte MTBO (Mean Time between Orgasms) und MTBF (Mean Time between Failure ... aeh ... no Orgasms) und eine garantierte Zahl von Partnerpflegevorgängen bis zum Defekt. Aber die Daten konnte ich bisher nirgens finden.Und das Beste: Man kann das Gerät auch auf der Webseite registrieren lassen.

Es wird da übrigens auch von einer Ladeschale gesprochen. Mein Verdacht ist ja, das das ein vom Design verunglücktes Schnurloses Telephon war, bevor man auf die Idee gekommen ist, daraus aus Produkt zur partnerschaftlichen Pflege zu machen. Frage ist, was passiert, wenn man das Teil versehentlich in die Ladeschale des Telephons steckt. Und hoffentlich haben die die Telephonfunktion ausgebaut.

Ich hab ja zunächst geglaubt, das waere eine Fakeseite ... aber ich habe das Teil auch bei Amazon gefunden. Es scheint das Teil also wirklich zu geben.

I don´t know if you know the german commercial for "Ricola". It goes about the invention of the "Ricola" cough sweet. Several nations claim the invention of the drop, but at the end a man in a suit enforces them to admit, that the Ricola cough sweet was invented in Switzerland.

We just found out, that an indispensable tool in IT was invented in Switzerland. Without modern IT wouldn´t be the same: The wire strap as we use it today. The wire strap was invented by Rudolf Fehr from Basel, Switzerland almost 40 years ago. It´s the patent 528 834 issued by the Authority of intellectual property of the Switzerland.

Just minutes after his inauguration, the website of the website was changed. Besides all the obvious changes there is a not so obvious change: Despite of having a more than 2400 lines long robots.txt the new one is just 2 lines long as Jason Kottke points out in "The country's new robots.txt file". While I suspect technical reasons for the long robots.txt at the old website, the new one is nevertheless a nice symbol for the nerdier people in the world.

In unserer Küche hier im Büro hat jemand gerade einen Fisch zubereitet, der eigentlich nur in Laboratorien der Klassifikation "Biosafety Level 4"verarbeitet, zubereitet und verzehrt werden darf. Der Gestank war zeitweise unbeschreiblich. Sollte der Herr auf dem Heimweg in der Hamburger S-Bahn rülpsen, wird wahrscheinlich ABC-Alarm ausgeloesst.

Das ist aber garnicht das interessanteste: Mein Kollege Gerd konnte aus dem ständigen Fundus schwedischer Eigenarten zu diesem Anlass etwas noch viel schlimmeres beschreiben: Surströmming. Ich wusste bis eben auch nicht, was das ist. Nach der Lektüre dieses Blogartikels weiss ich das. Lesebefehl

It´s 2009. At least in my timezone. Happy new year. There is a lot of uncertainity around because of the economic problems, the unsolved problems of this world. And many start this year with fears: But i found a good quote in this book, that fits into this sitation:

Your mission is the luminous path that you follow, no matter how dark the night around you.

Es kursieren ja viele Scherze ueber chinesische Schriftzeichen-Tattoos, die bei Chinesen nur zu lauten Gelächter führen, weil der des Chinesischen unkundige Träger nicht weiss, das sein Bein üble Beleidigungen über die Mutter und die weitere Sippschaft enthält (dieser Gag wurde mir mal von einer Sinologin erzaehlt) . Bei der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft hätte ich aber erwartet, das zumindest mal ein chinesischer Gastwissenschaftler sich das anguckt: Max-Planck-Gesellschaft wirbt für heiße Mädchen

Clifford Stoll was the guy, who found some hackers hired by the KGB in his system 20 years ago. In computer security he is known for his book "The Cuckoo's Egg" (albeit it´s more a popular science book), which describes the hunt after the attackers. 2 years ago he held a presentation at TED. His style is a combination of Carl Sagan and Roger Rabbit (as a commentator at the TED site wrote) but it gives you many interesting insights. Really worth a look.

There is an factory installed barcode scanner in the the E71 (but you can install one on many mobiles with a camera). With this barcode you can encode your vCard in a way a camera phone is able to scan. So you can add it in a few seconds to your address book:
