Who is Hans?

Hans holds a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law, where he specialized in International Law, and an M.A. in International Comparative Education from the Stanford Graduate School of Education. He brings to his role at CALI over two decades of experience as an educator, editor, policy analyst, researcher, and business development executive. His previous work has supported faculty projects, strategic initiatives at leading universities, academic entrepreneurship and technology-based innovation, and interdisciplinary research across international and comparative law, foreign policy, transnational cybercrime, and geopolitics. A native Spanish speaker, Hans is particularly interested in opportunities for international collaboration and partnerships with peers and institutions in Latin America. He is a graduate of the University of Miami, where he majored in Latin American Studies.

This is more than a conference—it’s a collaborative space to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and move legal education forward.

All In: Embedding AI in the Law School Classroom – How Did It Go?

In this just past semester, Professor Gregory Duhl undertook to teach a required doctrinal law school course—first-year Contracts—with generative AI fully embedded throughout the course design. Instead of adding AI exercises to conventional pedagogy or creating a stand-alone AI course, this approach reimagines legal education for the AI era by integrating AI as a learning enhancer rather than a threat to be managed. The course equipped students to partner with and evaluate AI as a tool in furtherance of their learning. In this keynote, Professor Duhl will report on what worked, what didn’t, and how we might be seeing more of this in legal education.

For 36 years, The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI®) has hosted its legal education conference called “CALIcon.” The CALIcon conference is a two-day event at newly renovated or built law schools.
