Transformers 3 filming in Chicago

Michael Bay is at it again… This time is taking the battered franchise to Chicago to shoot Nascar vehicles. No idea how the plot line (wait, what?) holds there, but there’s also a convertible version of the Corvette concept, Bumblebee, Optimus with a trailer and vehicular carnage. The Nascar characters look pretty cool in their half-transformed state though. What do you guys think?

Rally Fighter by Local Motors jumping to the sound of ‘Dukes of Hazzard’

Local Motors, the young crowd-sourced automotive company, has been hard at work on their first vehicle, the Rally Fighter. Designed by an Art Center student, Sangho Kim, the concept was chosen by a vote from the online Local Motors community. People interested in buying it give a deposit to LM and when their car has gone though the first built phase, they put the car together at the LM factory, under the directions of a seasoned LM employee.

Now they’re testing the first vehicles and they put together a nice video showing the beast in action, with the Waylon Jennings’ classic “Good Ol’ Boys”, better known as the theme from the Dukes of Hazzard. Sweet.

‘TRON : Legacy’ toys are sure to be a Christmas hit

TRON: Legacy won’t be out until December, but the toys and other licensed products are ready to hit the shelves.

Combining a cool idea with great photography, the new viral campaign from Toyota for the Sienna minivan makes it almost hip. Well, it’s still a minivan carrying all the stigma of the family mover, but it seems to be doing very well with parents who understand all the needs of a new family.

Careful… the ‘Repo Men’ are coming after your organs in their VW

Coming March 19th, Repo Men (which is not a remake of Repo Man, the awesome 80’s campy movie with Emilio Estevez, by the way) gives a creepy insight on what might be around the corner for us, and we’re not talking about the Health Care reform. No, in this future, a company called The Union makes replacement organs for humans, which is a scientific breakthrough a lot of people would welcome today. The downside of this is that if you don’t pay your bill, they send their guys, like Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, and they take it back, leaving you most likely dead, or at least in pretty bad shape. But when Jude Law gets hurt during a intervention and ends up with a replacement part that he cannot pay for, the sh…t hits the fan.

Now that’s not a lot of cars so far, but as you will see in the trailer below, these badass repo guys drive Volkswagen Touareg. The VW logo is clearly visible at the beginning of the trailer and you can recognize it from the rear in another angle. We don’t know yet if VW sponsored the movie, but we’ll find out soon. Until then, enjoy the trailer.

Red Mist gets a hum… kick-ass Mustang in ‘KICK-ASS’

Remember Mc Lovin’ from Superbad and the nerdy kid from Role Models? Well that’s Christopher Mintz-Plasse in real life, and he’s in the upcoming superhero comedy Kick-Ass with Nicolas Cage and Aaron Johnson. In this adaptation of the eponymous comic-book series, they play a team of real-life superheroes with no otherworldly powers, but with a good heart and a lot of guts. Christoper Mintz-Plasse gets a tricked-out previous generation (2009?) Ford Mustang with some Saleen elements (like the trunk plate). Looks pretty cool!

In 1987, the science -fiction movie Cherry 200 came out, featuring Melanie Griffith, her lifted 1965 Mustang and a few Blakely Bantam, the famous British 3-wheeler. It’s a perverted love tale, taking place in Vegas in 2017, where all things sexual are made with robots or only after a lengthy contract is signed in the presence of the lawyers from both parties. Considered a B-movie, it still has a sort of cult following.

“In the year 2017, a good woman is hard to find. A cherry 2000 is even harder.”

‘Transformers’ edition Bumblebee Camaro up-close and personal at the LA Autoshow

So we went to the LA Autoshow in ‘09, took a whole bunch of pictures of the Camaro Transformers edition and then, well… here we are posting them today.
Frankly, the car is cool, but it mainly attracts kids, which makes us think it would either attracts: a) 16 year olds with rich parents, b) Dads who really want to please their young kids, c) creepy old dudes whose panel van finally gave up.

James Bond doesn’t have to settle for only one Bond girl now. He can ride in style with three passengers in his Aston Martin Rapide and still chase the bad guys with a powerful V12… The British is finally banking on its 007 fame by introducing colors inspired by the famous spy. Don’t expect “Goldfinger yellow” or “Dr. No red” though, but a delightful ‘Silver Blonde’ and a menacing ‘Quantum Silver’.
