Winter Walk

In an attempt to not repeat this (see above computer dazed laziness), we hiked Adams Canyon today with Aunt Sarah. It was beautiful. This nice man let Camden pet and ride his horse "shorse". We were constantly seeing dogs and bikers along the trail. We stopped to play in the dirt about mid hike, but eventually did make it to a stream full of wondrous ice creations. Camden hiked all the way there pretty much by himself. If he fell and got hurt I would carry him for awhile, but he did a great job.

Hard to believe, but it is true. Camden is officially 2. On Cam's birthday Chris had most the day off so they hung out at Pineview. Chris reported that Camden was in his Birthday Suit most of the day. I worked at the VA all day, then the fam got together at 89 East that evening. I got Cam this sa-weet trike on KSL for $25 and he LOVED it. He can't reach the pedals, and can barely reach the floor with his toes, but he loves it just the same. And he'll grow into it right?

Oh yes, the birthday hats. My mom's little ballet class wore these for their "Christmas Tree" dance last year in recital, so now they are just hanging around the house and Cam insisted that we all wear one pretty much the whole time we were there.

Wow. It was about a month in the making, but I love it.

The last two years Connie has invited us to her work Lagoon Day. It has been so fun, especially since we would never be able to pay the outrageous entry fee for us all. Chris even got off work early enough to come. Thanks Connie!

Tired? Excited? Holding my bus pass. :)

Taking Cam on the rides was hilarious. He wanted to go on them so bad, but had a hard time waiting in line. Once he got on, he would pull this face the whole time. You may start noticing a theme.

"Bugly"

Based off these pics would you think he didn't like being on the ride? I would go to get him out and he would always ask, "Mo Mo Mo" (more) So waiting in line was difficult as was him understanding that he had to get off, get back in line, to get back on again.

By the end of the day he was SO tired, but wanting to go on rides, so finally we just had to leave the park with a crying/tired child. We were there from 11:00am till 4:30pm, so we hung in for quite awhile.

We are so proud of him and will miss him.

I hope the letter I sent Tuesday was waiting for him.

Bike for your life

I rode my bike to Robinette's. Chris bladed. Cam sat there and enjoyed the scenery. Need I say more? It was HARD. My arms were sweating. Camden learned (about 3/4 the way up 200 north) how to shift my gears to increase resistance, that caused a problem. I could hardly get up the hill in the first place!

I kept thinking, "I am going to stop and rest at the end of this block" "I am going to stop and rest when we get to the church", but for the most part we just kept trucking along. We stopped once to cross 200 North and then we walked up the last leg of the journey, up Oakmont Drive.

We did it. And we'll probably never do it again, but thank you Robinette's for being a worthy end-goal! And thanks for letting us hangout with you all night.

4.6 Miles, uphill. Took us probably about an hour. We are professionals (NOT).

Oh yeah, how could I forget the ride home? 10:00pm. Straight downhill. Very windy. Raining sometimes. Camden was OUT. His head was bobbing all over the place. It was really sad. When I got off the bike, everywhere hurt because I was trying to hold Cam's body up with my left arm and hold his head back with my chin and not DIE in the wind. Bleh.

Real Salt Lake (imagine accent)

One of the great things (maybe the only great thing) about Clarkie heading off to Mexico to serve a mission, is that we want to hang out with each other like ALL THE TIME, so we can soak up the Clarkiness. He organized this trip out to Rio Tinto Stadium to watch Real Salt Lake on August 6th. We got the cheapo tickets so we were staring into the hot hot sun until about 60 minutes into the game.

After half time, Dad was off playing with Camden and this weird guy game to join our row/sit in our seats. It was funny. I took a disguise picture of him.

Afterwards, we enjoyed the Red Mango in Sugerhouse! It was YUMMY! Can't you tell by our expressions?

Chris, Cam and I made our way to YogoTogo tonight in style!

Chris whipped out his blades from the good ol' days in F-dub and Cam and I rode the bike.

It was so fun to see Chris trying out all his old moves (his skates are NOT made for distance mind you).

Frozen Yogurt @ YogoTogo = $8.64

Family Time = Priceless

We tried to invite Gug and Waz but they both pooped out on us.

Afterwards we braved Crestwood and rode up to G-ma and G-pa Adams. It was super fun!

The funniest part of all was that Cam was in UNDIES the whole time.

Walking to the car after Clark's softball game, there were some little kids holding a kitty. I asked if I could hold it. He said, "Yeah, if you'll keep it!" Long story short, 15 minutes later we were taking home two orange kitties.

Laundry Genius

I don't profess to be a genius in many respects, but today I showed genius-like qualities in my own sphere.

There has been a longstanding problem with the way I get my liquid laundry detergent into my front loading washing machine. First I tried just setting the HUGE jug on top of the washer and guess at how much I should put in the dispenser for each load. This, skipping the middle measuring man and the mess that comes along with it. Then, while the washer was going it would jiggle the jug right OFF the washer creating a HUGER mess than the measuring middle man ever could have and thereby making it a crappy method.

Next I tried just moving the jug down each time I needed detergent in the dispenser, again skipping the middle measuring man and just guessing as to how much soap to put in. Then once a large load of warms did not come out smelling fresh and that grossed me out for like a week, so then I worried I wasn't putting in enough soap. I felt I must start using the measuring cup (the middle measuring man).

So for the past few weeks I have been washing everything in COLD (not really a pertinent detail to this story, but it has revolutionized the way I do laundry and I feel good using less energy) and measuring the detergent with the measuring cup. It has gone well enough, but never does ALL the soap come out into the dispenser, which leaves a dry, soapy mess IN the cup and the driplets that fall outside the rim of the cup end up getting the shelf gooey. Now, for an average joe person that probably wouldn't be a problem, but it BUGS me.

We're almost to the genius moment. I washed off the shelf and the cup and was about to let it return to the ooey, gooey, sticky, measuring method from before when I thought . . . I should just drop the cup INTO the dispenser and let the water wash it out each time. At first it didn't fit, but after a few tetris-like rotations I got it to fit. I thought, there is no way it could mess up the cycle, because I am sure water just splashes up into the dispenser to get all the soap up and it will just clean this little measuring cup while it's at it. And alas, after waiting the 37 minutes for the cold, delicate cycle to complete. I was right.

Genius.

Utah Summer Games 2011

On Friday I drove down to Cedar City to compete in weightlifting in the Utah Summer Games. I camped in Cedar Canyon a few miles east of Cedar City and then lifted on Saturday. It's always fun to compete at meets and gauge how my training is going, as well as hang out with other weightlifters.

Snatch:

Great day in the snatch. Best snatches of my life.

Clean & Jerk:

Terrible day for clean and jerk, at least on the platform when it counted. I didn't miss anything in warm ups, including 110 kilos. The more I watch my first attempt, I honestly can't believe I was red-lighted. It should have counted. Oh well.

My friend from the U also lifted. While he bombed out in the snatch (missed 102 kilos three times, a weight he can easily get) he had a monster day in the clean and jerk.

I also got a few of the big lifts from Saturday on film. I wish I would have filmed more but I had to warm up sometimes and just plain forgot other times. A fun day though.
