If you need to write a resume, but are at a loss as to where to begin, you are not alone. Many people find writing a good resume to be one of the most difficult parts of a job search. A resume is often the first impression that potential employers have of you though, so creating a well-formatted, well-written resume is essential to getting called in for an interview. If you could use a little help writing and formatting your resume, some websites offer resume builders to help you write a resume online.

To get help building your resume, use a website like Myresumeonline.org, Resumiser.com or Theresumebuilder.com, all of which provide online templates for formatting your information into a basic resume design. With a resume-building site, you only need to enter your personal information, such as contact information, and your employment information.

Before attempting to write a resume, you should always do a little information-gathering. Resumes should include the months and years for which you worked for each company that you list, as well as your job title and any responsibilities that you had at each job. Good resume builders also ask for skills that you have that pertain to the type of work for which you are applying. Computer skills and phone skills, for instance, are integral to most office jobs.

In order to write a resume using most online builders, you must sign up for an account on the website. Though these accounts may be free, they do generally require contact information, such as an email address, and may contain advertisements to help support the free resume builder.

Once you have a resume completed, you should digitally submit the resume with job applications that you fill out online. You can also print the resume to include with applications filled out in person, and store copies of your resume on job search sites, like Monster.com and CareerBuilder.

An aircraft broker works with buyers and sellers of aircraft. Typically an aircraft broker works on commission. The exact commission rate varies by company.

According to Simply Hired, the average salary for this occupation is $82,000 as of August 2011. This total compensation does not include any additional sales bonus that may be received.

Of course, the salary varies by location, which is due to a variety of factors. Such factors include higher wages due to cost of living and more sales due to a larger market for aircraft.

For example, in Florida the average salary for the occupation is $75,000.

But in Massachusetts, the average salary is $99,000.

See the graph for more comparisons.

Each week that you remain unemployed, you can claim your weekly unemployment insurance benefits until you use up your entire awarded compensation.

Typically you can file your weekly claims by mail, by phone or online. Not all options are available in each state.

When you file your weekly claims you must answer questions regarding your job search efforts, such as if you have looked for a job or earned any money during the week.

You also verify your mailing address and choose whether or not you want federal income taxes withheld from your weekly benefits.

Here’s how to file your weekly claim for unemployment benefits:

Complete the paper claim form, if you receive weekly claim forms by mail. Return the signed and completed form using the mailing envelope that was included with the claim form.

Call the weekly certification number for your state unemployment office, if you prefer to claim your benefits over the phone.

Claim your weekly benefits online if your state has an online weekly certification option. Not all states offer this.

To check your state website, use the Employee Issues website to find the web URL for your state unemployment office.

If you are underemployed, your paycheck might not be enough to pay the bills.

Or may you just want to make a little extra cash for fun money.

Either way, there are some great ways that you can earn extra money without getting another real job.

1. Do surveys or click links in your email.

You won’t get rich doing surveys or clicking links in your email, but you can make a little cash. I have tried a lot of these incentive type websites in the past and have only found a handful that are actually worth your time. For gift cards for everything from Amazon to Southwest, I suggest you join MyPoints and Swagbucks. You can even earn cash instead of gift cards with Swagbucks. Both are free to join. I’m not as big on survey sites because surveys tend to take a while to complete, but paid surveys at Survey 4 Profit are pretty decent.

2. Sign up to be a secret shopper.

Plenty of company pay secret shopper to do everything from buying tires to eating a three course meal. In the past, I have gotten paid to eat a meals at Longhorn Steakhouse complete with appetizer and dessert. The meals were also free. I have also gotten paid as a mystery shopper to purchase Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Papa John’s pizza and Clinique makeup. All of the items I purchased were free (the mystery shopping agency reimbursed me) and I got an additional fee to be a mystery shopper. It doesn’t pay a lot, but it a good way to get the things you would have bought anyway at no cost to you. Get started at Secret Shopper, Secret Shopper Company and National Shopping Service.

3. Sell products from your home.

If you like to sell, you can sign up to sell everything from Avon to Pampered Chef to candles. People even still sell Tupperware! The way these things typically work is that you pass out books or do parties in someone’s home. When you do a party, you get something for free – usually an item you are selling. You also get a small commission on everything you sell.

4. Sell off your junk or clutter.

If you have a lot of books, CDs, video games or movies, you may be able to make some great cash on Amazon Marketplace. One summer I made almost $800 clearing out my stock of DVDs, books and CDs. If you have other clutter, such as clothing, antiques, dishes, electronics, etc. you can head on over to eBay to sell your stuff. Do a search to see if people are buying the items you have to sell.

5. Sell your photography to stock image sites.

Sure, it doesn’t pay a lot per photo sold, but if you have a lot of images you an upload, then you don’t need to sell a lot of copies of each one. There have been news stories about people making six figures from selling stock photos on these sites. Two you will want to check out are iStockPhoto and the Flickr Getty Images partnership.

6. Get paid to write.

If you have some writing skills, you can be an online journalist in your free time. Sites like Seed.com and Demand Studios offer the best pay, both of which are low by journalism industry standards. I have written for both and neither are a scam but the pay is small for the work. Sites like Associated Content, Helium, InfoBarrel and HubPages allow anyone to write and they pay in profit sharing via Google Adsense. If you are a SEO whiz, you may be able to earn decent money from this.

7. Market your hobby or craft skills.

A site called Bragadoo offers a way for you to market your hobby or craft skills for cash paying jobs. Pimp your skills – everything from personal training to cooking is being offered on this site. People then leave reviews, which can help you get more gigs.

8. Sell your crafts.

Instead of spending your weekends manning a table at a craft fair, you can sell your creations online at Etsy. Everything from jewelery to clothing to artwork to furniture can be found on Etsy.

Do you want to get paid between $75 and $250 a day to stand around in the background of a movie?

If so, you can do that just by being a paid extra.

In New York City, there are always movies and TV shows filming, which means you have a lot of opportunities to be a paid extra.

If you’re interested in being a paid extra – NEVER pay a casting agency for extra work! You should be the only person getting paid!

Legitimate extras casting agencies do NOT charge you.

Before contacting a NYC extra casting agency, you need to get some headshots done. You can just do a Google search for headshot photographers and pick one that you like. I wouldn’t spend too much on the photos because you can always get more taken.

Once you have the headshots, you need to submit them to NYC extras casting agencies. Some of the top NYC extras casting agencies are:

Background, Inc
20 W. 20 th St., Suite 232
NYC 10011

Extra Connection

Sylvia Fay Casting

You can find other casting agencies on the New York 411 website (link opens in new window).

Just contact the casting agencies, or look on their website, to see how they accept headshots. Some may allow you to send them via email or to upload them on their website.

The standards and requirements for substitute teaching vary widely in the United States, not only from state to state, but from school district to school district within each state. In some states, the substitute teaching policies are governed by the state board of education, while others leave requirements for substitute teachers up to each individual school district. As a general rule, more populated urban areas require higher educational attainment, many of them requiring substitute teachers to hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, while smaller, more rural areas require only a high school diploma or GED. There are some states, or school districts within states, that don’t have any educational requirements at all.

While the pay rate for substitute teachers across the United States varies quite a bit, generally speaking, it is very low. In the majority of school districts in the United States pay for substitute teachers is barely above minimum wage. Substitute teachers in United States school districts can be paid anywhere from $35 to $140 per day. One rule that tends to hold true in all U.S. states is that those individuals who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from an accredited institution can expect a higher pay rate than those people who have earned only a high school diploma or GED.

Additional requirements in each school district also vary, with some districts requiring a substitute training course, a training session on school policies and procedures, or some other formal instruction before a candidate can serve in the school system. Others require educational coursework in an accredited institution. Most states require at the very least fingerprinting and a complete criminal background check and some form of medical clearance, often in the form of a recent, negative Tuberculosis test.

In the vast majority of states, the hiring of substitute teachers and the maintenance of a substitute teacher pool is done at the local level, district-by-district. In order to be considered for a substitute teaching position, a candidate must contact personnel from the school district in which they would like to substitute. Someone at the local level will explain the process and help the candidate complete their application and submit all additional materials to become credentialed or licensed to serve as a substitute teacher in the district. In other states, licensing is done through the state board of education, and application and materials must be submitted directly to the board.

Substituting teaching pay is low and substitute teachers do not get the same benefits that are afforded permanent licensed teachers. Due to this, the United States is suffering a severe shortage of qualified substitute teachers all over the country. No matter what school district is near you, chances are they are in desperate need of a few dedicated substitutes. So if substitute teaching is something of interest to you, and it is a financially viable option, contact someone in your preferred school district to get started in the process of becoming a certified substitute teacher.

State-wide, the minimum requirement to substitute teach in the state of Idaho is a high school diploma. Larger districts in the state require substitute certification. To find out the specific requirements needed to substitute teach in your local school district, contact your local school.

Unlike most states, Idaho has had a large number of recent applicants for substitute teaching positions in the state. Due to this influx, Idaho school districts are accepting applications from only those applicants who are in the process of completing a teacher education program in the state, or who are referred at the school site.

Classified substitutes are those who have not been certified, and they are permitted to fill in for the following positions in any school district: administrative or office assistants, special education assistant, security officer positions, health technicians, and others. In some school districts, classified substitutes can fill in in the classroom.

In urban areas, only certified substitutes can fill in in the classroom. To become certified, the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from an accredited college or university, proven through college transcripts.

To find out the requirements for serving as a substitute teacher within your preferred school district, contact your nearest school office.

Like most school districts in the country, the District of Columbia’s public school system is in need of qualified substitute teachers.

Substitute teachers in the District of Columbia’s public school system must hold a substitute teacher certification, unless they already possess a teaching certification or a counselor certification. In order to qualify for a substitute teacher certification, a candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any subject or have completed sixty credit hours of coursework at an accredited university.

To apply to become a substitute teacher in DC’s public school system, a candidate should submit a resume and application at a local school. After passing the initial inspection, the candidate will be helped through the application process of getting their substitute teacher certification.

Pay in the DC public school system varies slightly by school, with the daily pay rate between $74.20 and $80 per day. As long as an individual’s substitute teaching certification is kept current, there is no limit to the number of days a substitute can work in a year.

For more information on becoming a substitute teacher in the District of Columbia public school system, including a listing of schools, see the District of Columbia Public Schools site at http://www.k12.dc.us/contactus.htm.
