The Collect:
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
International Prayers:
We pray for all those impacted by the Ebola virus in the DRC. We pray for wise leaders and for improved living conditions in a country that makes these breakouts possible. 

We pray for peace in Iran and all impacted countries dealing with the impact from the war. Lord have mercy.

Honduras Mission Team Commissioning | Wednesday, June 3 at 12:05 p.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel
Join us as we commission our Honduras Mission Team during the Wednesday Holy Eucharist service before they depart on Saturday, June 6. This special service is an opportunity to pray for the team and send them forth with the support of the parish. All are welcome to attend.
 

The Search Committee is hard at work reviewing a strong pool of candidates. We have received applications from 14 candidates across the country and are grateful for the depth of experience, gifts, and leadership they bring.

The committee's role is to prayerfully evaluate candidates and ultimately recommend 2-3 names to the Chapter, which will oversee the next stage of the process. With so many highly qualified applicants, this work requires thoughtful discernment and care.

The committee remains deeply grateful for the thoughtful feedback, survey responses, and prayers of Cathedral members, all of which continue to guide and inform this important work.

Remembering Pulse: Requiem Eucharist
Wednesday, June 10 at 12:05 p.m.
The Cathedral will host a Votive Requiem Eucharist in the Cathedral in memory of the 49 victims of the Pulse shooting, which took place 10 years ago on June 12, 2016. Canon to the Ordinary Dan Smith will preach.
Altar Flower Dedications
Each week, altar flowers are provided by members of our congregation through the skillful work of members of the Cathedral Flower Guild. You are invited to sponsor the Sunday altar flowers in thanksgiving, celebration, or remembrance with a gift of $50 or more. Dedications are printed in the Sunday bulletin and help sustain this beautiful part of our worship. International Prayers:
We pray for peace and Christian communities in Nigeria where the US recently bombed militant groups in a joint operation.

We pray for the upcoming elections in Columbia and ask for grace over the political process. We pray for the peaceful vote and just leaders as the country faces challenges from narcotics cartels.
Wear Red on Pentecost Sunday
This Sunday, we invite everyone to wear red as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. Red reminds us of the flames that rested on the apostles and the fire of God’s presence among His people.
Dean’s Hour: Remembering the Fallen

Join Cathedral Historian Anne Michels for a special presentation on the men of the Cathedral who gave their lives in World War II. If you have seen the plaque in the Dean’s Courtyard and wondered about their stories, this presentation offers a meaningful glimpse into who they were and the lives they lived before their sacrifice.

About $1,000 remains to fully fund projects at the Church of the Good Shepherd in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, including painting and renovating the Great Hall. Once completed, the refreshed space will be available to rent for community gatherings and events, creating a new source of income to support the church’s ministry for years to come. Join us for a special Evensong as we mark two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the completion of construction of the Cathedral and the 100th anniversary of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The Cathedral choirs will be joined by the choir of All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, to premiere newly commissioned pieces written for the occasion. A reception, hosted by the Cathedral Celebrations Committee, will follow in the Great Hall.

The American Church: The Episcopal Church and the American Revolution 
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this six-week course taught by Fr. Garrett will explore the Episcopal Church before, during, and after the revolution; and the Patriots and Loyalists who came together as Anglicans after the Revolutionary War to organize a new Church in a new Nation.


Join us to honor and celebrate the Class of 2026 this Sunday!


2026 High School Graduates:

Lauren Elisabeth Mahnken attended Winter Springs High School. Lauren will be attending UCF this summer as a Digital Media major and will be playing clarinet for the Marching Knights. She has been attending the Cathedral Church of St Luke’s Vespers program since middle school.

Ansley Elizabeth Phillips is graduating from Smith Prep. She was an Impact Lead of Exploding Bacon Robotics team and is a member of the Honduras mission trip. She plans to go into the medical field.

Hunter Augustine Phillips is graduating from Smith Prep, where he served as a student leader for five years. He played football for Winter Park High School and is a member of Exploding Bacon Robotics team. He plans to pursue EMT and firefighting training.

Noah Benjamin Stevens is graduating from New Hampton School, a prep school. Noah will attend Yale University this fall where he will play lacrosse in the Ivy League and study economics. He has been an acolyte at the Cathedral since he was in elementary school.


2026 Higher Education Graduates:

Logan Eckhardt is graduating with a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of North Florida.

Tanner Jacob Stevens graduated from Florida State University a few weeks ago where he majored in Computer Information Technology with an emphasis in Cybersecurity. He is actively pursuing his first opportunity in the IT world. Tanner has been an acolyte since his elementary school years.
Honduras Mission Trip Update
Our partnership with the Church of the Good Shepherd in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, continues this summer as a team from the Cathedral travels to support outreach efforts and improvements to their great hall. While registration for the trip has closed, you can still support this mission through prayer and financial gifts that help fund travel, outreach, and lasting improvements for the community. Altar Flower Dedications
Each week, altar flowers are provided by members of our congregation through the skillful work of members of the Cathedral Flower Guild. You are invited to sponsor the Sunday altar flowers in thanksgiving, celebration, or remembrance with a gift of $50 or more. Dedications are printed in the Sunday bulletin and help sustain this beautiful part of our worship. Dean’s Hour: Remembering the Fallen

Join Cathedral Historian Anne Michels for a special presentation on the men of the Cathedral who gave their lives in World War II. If you have seen the plaque in the Dean’s Courtyard and wondered about their stories, this presentation offers a meaningful glimpse into who they were and the lives they lived before their sacrifice.


Parent's Night Out | Friday, May 29 from 6 - 8:30 p.m.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this six-week course taught by Fr. Garrett will explore the Episcopal Church before, during, and after the revolution; and the Patriots and Loyalists who came together as Anglicans after the Revolutionary War to organize a new Church in a new Nation.
Honduras Mission Trip Update
Our partnership with the Church of the Good Shepherd in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, continues this summer as a team from the Cathedral travels to support outreach efforts and improvements to their great hall. While registration for the trip has closed, you can still support this mission through prayer and financial gifts that help fund travel, outreach, and lasting improvements for the community. In honor of Armed Forces Day, we will offer special prayers for those currently serving in the Armed Forces, Reserves, and National Guard. Each week, altar flowers are provided by members of our congregation through the skillful work of members of the Cathedral Flower Guild. Cathedral Players present: The Crucible
Friday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at Rollins College
The Cathedral Players invite you to The Crucible by Arthur Miller, a powerful drama set during the Salem witch trials. Performances will be held in the Sally K. Albrecht Studio Theatre at Rollins College. Doors open 20 minutes prior, and the show runs approximately 2.5 hours with one intermission; not recommended for children under 12. Parking is available on nearby streets or in the Rollins College Truist Parking Garage, with accessible parking located in front of the Alfond Sports Center. Evensong | Sunday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m.
Join us for a special Evensong as we mark two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the completion of construction of the Cathedral and the 100th anniversary of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The Cathedral choirs will be joined by the choir of All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, to premiere newly commissioned pieces written for the occasion. A reception, hosted by the Cathedral Celebrations Committee, will follow in the Great Hall.

On Pentecost Sunday, we invite everyone to wear red as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. Red reminds us of the flames that rested on the apostles and the fire of God’s presence among His people.


Dean’s Hour: Remembering the Fallen

Join Cathedral Historian Anne Michels for a special presentation on the men of the Cathedral who gave their lives in World War II. If you have seen the plaque in the Dean’s Courtyard and wondered about their stories, this presentation offers a meaningful glimpse into who they were and the lives they lived before their sacrifice.

International Prayers:
We pray for endurance and grace on all those feeling the burden of rising energy prices due to the Middle East conflict, especially for those who have difficulty providing enough food and safe shelter for their families. 

We pray for the victims of insurgency violence from jihadi groups in Mali this past weekend. We pray for regional government leaders to wisely restrain this violence.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Congregational Assessment Tool Survey. We received 250 responses, with an additional 150 written comments, providing strong and statistically reliable insights. The Search Committee will share the results with the congregation this Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Great Hall. International Prayers:
We pray for endurance and grace on all those feeling the burden of rising energy prices due to the Middle East conflict, especially for those who have difficulty providing enough food and safe shelter for their families. 

We pray for the victims of insurgency violence from jihadi groups in Mali this past weekend. We pray for regional government leaders to wisely restrain this violence.
CAT Survey Results Presentation
Sunday, May 3 at 9 a.m. | Great Hall
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Congregational Assessment Tool Survey. We received 250 responses, with an additional 150 written comments, providing strong and statistically reliable insights. The Search Committee will share the results with the congregation this Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Great Hall. If you are unable to attend, presentations can also be arranged for groups or individuals who would like to learn more.

The American Church: The Episcopal Church and the American Revolution 
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this six-week course taught by Fr. Garrett will explore the Episcopal Church before, during, and after the revolution; and the Patriots and Loyalists who came together as Anglicans after the Revolutionary War to organize a new Church in a new Nation.
Honduras Mission Trip Update
Our long-time partnership with the Church of the Good Shepherd in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, continues to grow. This summer, a team from the Cathedral, alongside partners from the Diocese of Central Florida, will travel to Honduras to support outreach efforts and help improve their great hall, creating a space that will serve the community for years to come. While the opportunity to join the trip has now closed, there are still meaningful ways to take part in this mission. Please keep our partners and team in your prayers, and consider making a financial gift to support travel, outreach, and these important improvements. Your support helps carry this work forward. We are preparing to honor the Class of 2026 and invite you to share information for any graduating high school or college senior. Altar Flower Dedications
Each week, altar flowers are provided by members of our congregation through the skillful work of members of the Cathedral Flower Guild. You are invited to sponsor the Sunday altar flowers in thanksgiving, celebration, or remembrance with a gift of $50 or more. Dedications are printed in the Sunday bulletin and help sustain this beautiful part of our worship. To reserve a date, contact the Fay Chandler in the church office at 407-849-0680, ext. 204 or by email. Bulletin requests are due Wednesday at noon.

Dean’s Hour: The Cross & The Crucible
Sundays at 9 a.m. | Great Hall (this class resumes May 10)
Dean Reggie Kidd and Dr. Marianne DiQuattro are leading a series on The Crucible by Arthur Miller, along with past Cathedral Players productions. Together, we will explore the role of drama in the life of the Church and the deeper questions of faith these works invite us to consider.

The Cathedral Players invite you to The Crucible by Arthur Miller, a powerful drama set during the Salem witch trials. Performances will be held in the Sally K. Albrecht Studio Theatre at Rollins College. Doors open 20 minutes prior, and the show runs approximately 2.5 hours with one intermission; not recommended for children under 12. Parking is available on nearby streets or in the Rollins College Truist Parking Garage, with accessible parking located in front of the Alfond Sports Center. Join us for a special Evensong as we mark two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the completion of construction of the Cathedral and the 100th anniversary of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The Cathedral choirs will be joined by the choir of All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, to premiere four newly commissioned pieces written for the occasion. Dear Sisters and Brothers of St. Luke:

Our sister, Margie Winterburn Drane, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Margie was a devoted member of the Cathedral for 61 years. She was actively involved in the Altar Guild at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke for 43 years. She also was devoted to St. Richard’s Icon Guild at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Winter Park. Margie painted icons and created vestments and banners for the church, offering her talents in service of her faith and community.

Margie lived a life filled with color, creativity and deep love for her family, friends and the
church.

A service will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, FL 32801, on Saturday, May 9 at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow in the Great Hall. The Drane family invites guests to wear something bright, colorful or even an animal print in honor of Margie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating in Margie’s honor to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund where 100% of general donations go to its research program. https://curealz.org/giving/donate/

My Dear Cathedral Family,

I came to the Cathedral six years ago, a postulant from Incarnation to “learn the
table.” Father Tom Phillips understood I needed instruction in liturgical worship, and he knew where to send me. The Dean agreed I could visit once a month to serve under Deacon Rose Sapp’s tutelage. It was magical and I loved every minute. When I received an ordination date, I asked the Dean if I could come and serve as Deacon once a month to give Deacon Rose a break. Instead of saying yes to my request, the Dean took me to lunch and asked me about my calling. After I told him God called me to be a mother in the church, he said the Cathedral could use a mother. He asked me if I would consider serving at the Cathedral part time as a pastoral care minister. I felt honored then that a man of the Dean’s gravitas would consider me for a place on his team. That was the beginning of my serving ministry at the Cathedral.

At the Cathedral, under the tutelage of a very patient, kind, wise and godly man, Dean Kidd, I have been raised up and provided space to allow God’s grace to form me into a priest. The freedom given me to explore in ministry has provided the opportunity for me to discover my giftings for the body of Christ. Whatever I do, I do to “equip the saints to minister.” I pray my serving these past five years has contributed in a positive way to the Dean in his ministry here. My role has always been to help him nurture God’s people in spiritual growth through care and teaching.

God has called me and I have accepted that call to be the Associate Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our daughter and her husband just bought a home and are settling down there. A bonus for us will be to live near them.

This is an exciting season for me but a sad one at the same time. I love our family at the Cathedral. You are grace filled, caring and have encouraged me in ministry. Relationships are rich at the Cathedral. I know God has prepared me for the parish at St.John’s and that tells me God has prepared those who will come to the Cathedral to be exactly what you need at this time in the life of the Cathedral. I am excited to see what God will do through such a healthy, on fire for Jesus, parish. The energy of life here is palpable. This parish is a worshipping, praying congregation with a vibrant healing community, a blossoming Stephen ministry, and a huge lay pastoral care commission filled with people who serve God through caring for others in the parish. Not to mention all the other burgeoning ministries. I am grateful for our shared ministry and I continue in that ministry until July 31st.

We pray for the ongoing wars in Iran, Sudan, and Ukraine. We ask for the protection of innocent lives and for political leaders to work hard for non-violent solutions.

We pray for increased stability in Myanmar with the current military regime and ask for grace.

Dean's Hour: The Cross & The Crucible
Sundays at 9 a.m. in the Great Hall
This May, in celebration of the 5th year of the launch of the Cathedral Players, we present the modern classic, The Crucible by Arthur Miller. In Dean's Hour, Dean Reggie Kidd and Professor & Director Dr. Marianne DiQuattro are leading a series on The Crucible as well as the previous Cathedral Players productions — from Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus, to Dorothy L. Sayers’s Zeal of Thy House and He That Shall Come, to Elizabeth Berryhill’s Cup of Trembling (about Dietrich Bonhoeffer), to T. S. Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral. Join us as we explore the role of drama in the life of the church, as well as the challenging questions of faith and life these wonderful and important plays pose.

Join your church family for a Friendship Reception in the Great Hall! This is a time for fellowship and connection.

Honduras Mission Trip Update & Invitation
Two weeks ago, Lindy and Shannon traveled to Honduras to continue planning for this summer’s mission trip. During their visit, they presented our partner church, Church of the Good Shepherd, with a chalice donated by the Cathedral. It was received with deep gratitude, a meaningful reminder of the connection we share and the impact of this partnership.

The congregation’s greatest current needs are outreach support and improvements to their great hall. Renovating this space will allow them to host events and generate income to sustain and grow their ministry. We are working to raise additional funds to support these efforts, including facility updates and providing linens for tables and chairs. Every gift, no matter the size, helps move this work forward.

This summer, we will offer two opportunities to participate: a week-long trip (June 5–12) and a shorter weekend option (June 5–8). The application deadline to join the team is Wednesday, April 29. As plans come together, we invite you to take part in this mission by praying, giving, or going.

The American Church: The Episcopal Church and the American Revolution 
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this six-week course taught by Fr. Garrett will explore the Episcopal Church before, during, and after the revolution; and the Patriots and Loyalists who came together as Anglicans after the Revolutionary War to organize a new Church in a new Nation.

AdventHealth Corporate 5K
Thursday, April 30 at 6:45 p.m.

Join Team Cathedral for the AdventHealth Corporate 5K on April 30 at 6:45 p.m.! It’s a fun way to connect with fellow Cathedralites, represent the Cathedral in the community, and support two local nonprofits. Proceeds benefit the Track Shack Youth Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

We’ll meet at the Cathedral before the race to hand out bibs and take a group photo.

Greetings & Updates from the Search Committee-

• Thanks to every one who responded to the Congregational Assessment Tool Survey. We had 250 people participate, and also 150 people wrote additional comments at the end. This was more than enough to give us statistically reliable results. The search committee will be sharing the results with the congregation on Sunday, May 3 at 9 a.m. in the Great Hall. In addition, we’re willing to present to a group, or anyone interested.

• Being on the Search Committee for a Dean is a bit different than the search process for a rector. Because of the close relationship between the Cathedral and the Bishop, our search committee has benefited from two extra members appointed by the Bishop to represent the diocese. Jason Ullrich is the Senior Warden at The Church of St.Luke & St. Peter in St.Cloud.  They have recently been through a rector search, and his advice has been invaluable. Nadine Craig is a member of St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. She is also the President of the Central Florida Diocesan Assembly of the Daughters of the King.  She is also the Membership Chair for the National Council of the Daughters of the King. Nadine has offered wonderful advice from her church and professional roles. The search committee, and by extension the Cathedral, is fortunate to have Jason and Nadine’s perspectives and hard work assisting us. 

The search committee is thankful for your prayers and participation in the process of calling a Dean. Committee members have given many hours, and take this responsibility quite seriously.

Cathedral Players present: The Crucible
Friday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at Rollins College
The Cathedral Players invite you to their upcoming production of The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s powerful drama set during the Salem witch trials. Our talented cast has been hard at work preparing a moving and memorable performance, and we hope you will join us at Rollins College for this special production.

Doors open 20 minutes before the performance. The show runs approximately 2.5 hours, including one intermission, and is not recommended for children under 12.

Performances take place in the Sally K. Albrecht Studio Theatre, located within the Tiedtke Theatre and Dance Centre at Rollins College on Chase Avenue, between the Alfond Sports Center and the Annie Russell Theatre. Parking is available along the streets of Winter Park or in the Rollins College Truist Parking Garage for a small fee. Accessible parking is located directly in front of the Alfond Sports Center.

Evensong
Sunday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m.

Join us for a special Evensong as we mark two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the completion of construction of the Cathedral and the 100th anniversary of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The Cathedral choirs will be joined by the choir of All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, to premiere four newly commissioned pieces written for the occasion. We are also honored to welcome back British organist, conductor, and composer Malcolm Archer, who will direct the service and the premier of his anthem, Keep Watch, O Lord. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

With Gratitude: Celebrating the Ministry of Dean Reggie Kidd | Sunday, May 31 | One Combined Service at 9 a.m., Luncheon to Follow at the Rosalind Club
You are invited to join us for a special celebration honoring the ministry of The Very Rev. Dr. Reggie Kidd at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke. We will gather for one combined Eucharist at 9 a.m., followed by a retirement luncheon at the The Rosalind Club.

Due to limited seating, the luncheon is for those ages 13 and up, with childcare available at the Cathedral. Children ages 3 and below should pack their own lunch, and children ages 4 and up will be served lunch.

"All That Jazz" Centennial Gala Dinner
Friday, October 16, 2026 in the Great Hall

Save the date for an adults-only evening as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the completion of construction of the Cathedral with All That Jazz, a Roaring ’20s–themed night hosted by the Celebrations Committee. Come dressed in your best 1920s-inspired attire and enjoy a catered dinner, immersive décor, an engaging presentation on Orlando in the 1920s, and a night designed for connection and fun. Tickets will be $50 per person, and you can go ahead and start planning your look now.

We are inviting the Cathedral community to help bring this celebration to life through gifts of time, talent, and treasure. Time: mark your calendar and plan to join us. Talent: we are looking for volunteers to help transform the space. Shirley Triano has a beautiful vision for the Great Hall and would love helping hands to make it happen. Treasure: we are working toward a goal of $2,600 to cover costs not included in ticket sales or existing funds from past celebrations. Any gifts beyond that goal will enhance the evening even further. If you would like to contribute, please mark your gift “gala sponsorship.” Our hope is to meet this goal by July 4 so plans can be finalized. Donors will be recognized in the event program unless they prefer to remain anonymous.
