Recently Morgan Freeman met with the Daily Beast to discuss his upcoming movie, however, another very interesting topic took up much of the discussion. Freeman describes his appreciation of pot, as well as supports the current movement to legalize it.

Freeman continues on to explain his support of marijuana for medicinal uses, “Marijuana has many useful uses,” he says. “I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!"

Aloha Puna friends and neighbors,

The GIANT wave of all things Cannabis hemp and "marijuana" is fast evolving in much of the world and it's eventually coming this way. It's sadly way too late for us to be 'leaders' in this healthy, wealthy and happy movement, but at least we need to know the whole truth of what the future may bring us and who continues to block it. Some of the big questions I have are; WHEN is legalization coming to Hawai'i, HOW will it be structured and regulated and WHO will benefit the most?

A few weeks ago I had a conversation with a large mainland company (www.hempmeds.com) that makes and sells Cannabis hemp CBD oils and other hemp products. I was told that their company recently negotiated long-term leases on "hundreds of thousands of organic acres" in eastern Europe. They say on their website that they legally grow, process, sell and ship CBD hemp oil and other CBD oil products to residents in all 50 U.S. states and 40 foreign countries.
You might have heard of a special strain of low-THC, high-CBD Cannabis called "Charlotte's Web" created by the Stanley brothers of Colorado and popularized by Dr. Sanjay Gupta on his CNN Specials WEED 1, WEED 2 and WEED 3. When processed into oil this strain of Cannabis has been saving the lives of severely sick children suffering from Dravet's Syndrome epilepsy, and other diseases. Now Charlotte's Web Hemp Oil is legally available on www.amazon.com (!) meaning that families with sick children can stay in their home state and help to heal their kids with a safe and natural plant oil instead of moving to Colorado for legal access, or using dangerous, toxic pharmaceuticals that don't work.

Two weeks ago I had a face-to-face conversation with a large land owner from the Big Island. She told me that "land scouts" from Colorado Cannabis companies have been here looking to find and secure long-term leases on organic acres with abundant sun, water, privacy and access for the coming Cannabis economy. The offer she heard? $60,000. per acre / per year; just sign the deal and once a year sign the check. Can this be true?

One group that continues to irrationally block the implementation of medical marijuana dispensaries and the legalization of Cannabis hemp, or marijuana in Hawai'i is the Hawaii County Police Department. On Thursday some of us who went to County Council to testify and 'speak our truth to power' to block funding for the H.P.D. for the coming year heard Chief Kubojiri tell what sounded like a big, fat lie on-the-record. He said that there's no need for medical marijuana dispensaries in Hawaii County because out of the approximately 6,000 legal medical marijuana patients here "only 12 have said that they would use a dispensary". Really Chief? If I heard you right I don't believe you. Did you just lie to the Hawaii County Council and to "We the people" who you swore an oath to defend and protect?

To prepare for my testimony to the Council I looked at the websites of the Hawaii County Police Department and S.H.O.P.O., the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers. I entered "medical marijuana" in the search box of both sites and came-up with the same answer, "0 results". What this tells me is that H.P.D. and S.H.O.P.O. still don't acknowledge or honor medical marijuana in Hawai'i even after it's been legal for 15 years. They purposely deny or omit the truth in order to falsely inflate the need for their services in order to get more money and manpower to fight their unnecessary and counter-productive "war on marijuana".

Look-up Hegelian dialectic. Hegel's dialectic is reportedly the tool which manipulates us into a frenzied circular pattern of thought and action like we witness annually at the County Council. The only way I know of to stop or reduce the privacy invasions, expanding domestic police powers, land grabs, insane wars against inanimate objects, covert actions, and outright assaults on individual liberty here is to step outside of the dialectic by shining a big light on it and demanding a Mandatory Program Review according to Hawaii County Charter Section 3-16. This theoretically could release us from the mind control and guided thought we've been perpetually locked into by unconsciously supporting and funding the local "war on marijuana".
"S.H.O.P.O. must go!" I don't know about you, but I want S.H.O.P.O. to disband. I want our police officers to have to stand on their own merit. I want it really easy and transparent to fire any officer - for cause - who has a unique license to kill us. I also want us to stay clear of becoming part of a national police force. Home rule is the way to go.

When did the "men in blue" turn into the "men in black"? Our H.P.D. Officers now wear black uniforms instead of the customary blue. To me this is a telling sign that they are 'going dark' on "We the people" who pay their comfortable salaries and generous benefits.

Remember to keep questioning authority; Silence = consent. We can only be the 'land of the free' if we are first 'the home of the brave'. Be brave!

About 12 of us who went to the County Council for their 1:30 p.m. budget hearing on Thursday the 23rd were blocked from testifying by the County Clerk and the Council Chairwoman Karen Eoff. Apparently over the last five years (while I was in federal prison for 50 months for running our state-licensed THC Ministry) our Hawaii County Council passed a rule to reduce public access and influence. We were told that we had to come back on Friday morning to testify when the Committee continued its business, however at that time the police would not be there as their budget hearing was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Huh? Really? Where's the aloha? Where's our government of the people, by the people and for the people? I want it back.

One other important change I noticed about the remodeled Council Chambers - there's no more podium to stand at and testify. The new design requires that people testifying sit at the table in front of the room with our back to the audience and at a lower level than the Council members 'above us'. No more "Standing-up to government" here. Subtle, but effective manipulation in the negative. I want the public's podium back.

Still, it's great to be back on the island and relatively free. I'm grateful that we're still free enough to redress our grievances to a relatively free press (thanks, Tiffany) and to do so in a relatively free country.

Lots of love to everyone,
Roger Christie

Garner wrote:

"I started smoking it in my late teens. I drank to get drunk but ultimately didn't like the effect. Not so with grass. It had the opposite effect from alcohol: it made me more tolerant and forgiving.

"I did a little bit of cocaine in the Eighties, courtesy of John Belushi, but fortunately I didn’t like it. But I smoked marijuana for 50 years and I don’t know where I'd be without it. It opened my mind and now it eases my arthritis. After decades of research I’ve concluded that marijuana should be legal and alcohol illegal."

Still, he said: "I've had to work hard at that easy-going manner you see on screen." I think the marijuana helped. He's also being called "witty," "wise cracking" and "understated" in his obits. Those are three more pothead traits, as was his political activism: in 1963 he participated in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom along with Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Diahann Carroll (pictured).

A few years later, Von Schmidt remembers being backstage with Dylan at a Joan Baez concert, smoking their brains out. "I was already in a zone. All of a sudden, Joan calls Dylan out to the stage and he sings what seemed like a hundred verses of A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. I couldn't believe how this guy could remember all the verses. He may have missed a few; he may have made up a few. I was amazed by his ability to function. He had that covered."

"I talked to Snoop Doggy Dog today. well I'm not sure if you could really call it talked because I could hardly understand what he was saying. But i think he was trying to communicate was that he wanted to work with me in some sort of capacity and something involving marijuana." - Marilyn Manson

We knew that Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson were good friends (frequently appearing at each other's events and even playing some music together too), but we didn't know they acted like high schoolers together smoking some bush behind the bushes. But then again...it seemingly all makes sense.

Lee Child is one of the world’s biggest-selling thriller writers, with his Jack Reacher novels so successful one is bought every two seconds.

Now author Lee Child has admitted he keeps his writing razor-sharp by working while high on cannabis and even claims that it should be made compulsory.

"I’ve been smoking weed for 44 years, five nights a week," the author confessed. "I’m the poster boy to prove it doesn’t do you much harm."

"I have a guy on speed dial in New York who comes over with a huge range of marijuana. I smoke it in a pipe because I’ve never been any good at rolling my own joints."

Justin Bieber

2013-01-07T07:07:00.000-08:00

Saturday, 05 January 2013 22:14

Mega pop star Justin Bieber has been hounded by rumors of marijuana use for the last few weeks. Now photos of him smoking a blunt have surfaced.

The 18-year old Canadian singer was partying with friends on Jan. 2 at a hotel room in Newport Beach, California when the pics, acquired by TMZ, were snapped. He's seen with a lit blunt roach in his left hand.

On Dec. 23, the Daily News quoted a source who said about Bieber, "He smokes weed all day, from the time he gets up, and orders everybody around. He’s surrounded by hangers-on who say yes to anything he wants. There’s no supervision."

A second source added, “Justin doesn’t seem to care and does whatever he wants. This could really damage his reputation if they don’t get it under control."

Just this week a paparazzi in Los Angeles was killed while chasing a Ferrari which he believed Bieber was driving. Photographer Chris Guerra contended that earlier in the day he saw Bieber smoking a pipe in the car. Guerra was struck by another vehicle as he pursued the Ferarri on foot.

Bill Murray

2012-12-10T06:21:00.000-08:00

Forty years ago tomorrow, on his twentieth birthday back on September 21, 1970, Bill Murray was arrested for drug possession.

As the story goes, Murray was at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport waiting to board a plane to Denver, where he was a pre-med student at Regis University. In a moment of sheer stupidity, he told a fellow passenger that he was carrying two bombs in his luggage as a joke. A ticket agent overheard him, and called over federal agents. This is where the sheer stupidity -- or being totally baked -- comes into play. He didn't have bombs, but he was carrying five bricks of marijuana -- 10 pounds, valued at $20,000.

You might wonder why he'd light up that "I have tons of pot" neon over his head, but his poor comedic timing might not have mattered. Chicago detectives had already received a tip about Murray, and were waiting to arrest him. The future actor got really lucky and was charged with possession of cannabis; he plead guilty, and received five years probation. You can see a copy of the news release over at The Smoking Gun.

Obviously, Bill didn't stick to medicine. Five years after Murray's arrest, he earned his first credit as the voice of a reporter on 'Shame of the Jungle.' Another four years later, he earned his starring, breakout role as Tripper in 'Meatballs.' It wasn't until 1980, however, that he made his reefer ways really work for his career, playing Hunter S. Thompson in 1980's 'Where the Buffalo Roam.'

UPDATE: Friday, Sept. 28 1:20 p.m. EST -- A rep for Bad Brains' management has issued a statement to Gawker claiming that the photo does indeed show H.R. and Shields smoking weed together in 1983.

"It's her," the band's manager told the website through a publicist. "This would be from 1983. Hair length, and H.R. missing that tooth he knocked out hitting a huge stage divider pole at the Reggae Lounge. Brooke would have been around 18, maybe still a Ford model."

UPDATE: A rep for Shields tells The Huffington Post "It isn't her."

PREVIOUSLY: For no reason whatsoever, a Twitter user named Dave Hill has tweeted a photo that he alleges is a young Brooke Shields smoking out of a pipe.

Sitting next to the woman, as she lights up is none other than H.R., lead singer of the pioneering D.C. hardcore band Bad Brains.

Everything has been up in smoke lately for some of Hollywood's most outspoken celebrities. Earlier this week, Lady Gaga was called a "slut" by Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, after the pop star smoked weed while onstage in Amsterdam, and singer Fiona Apple was arrested on drug possession charges in Texas.

Federal legalization of marijuana is an increasingly hot issue in American politics, although the two major presidential candidates have mostly dodged the issue. When President Barack Obama participated in an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A on Reddit last month, several of the most popular questions concerned America's drug war. The president declined to respond to any of them.

Alanis Morissette

Alanis came out of her 'grow-room,' as it were, about her love of cannabis and the necessity she has for our Worlds most popular plant.

Not that it surprised anybody to the extent of spilling bong water on themselves, she did have a song titled 'Mary Jane,' and has a boyfriend, Tom Ballanco who is a front line medical marijuana advocate and hangs with~ Woody Harrelson, ~but now she 'went Google' and whispered in everybody's ear. (where this picture was taken)

Quotes from:

SORAYA ROBERTS

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Thursday, December 03, 2009

"As an artist, there's a sweet jump-starting quality to [marijuana] for me," Morissette says. "I've often felt telepathic and receptive to inexplicable messages my whole life. I can stave those off when I'm not high. When I'm high - well, they come in and there's less of a veil, so to speak. So if ever I need some clarity... or a quantum leap in terms of writing something, it's a quick way for me to get to it."

"I have a lot of friends around me who are very courageous and willing to 'come out' - and Tom is definitely beyond the front lines. Any fears that I had about cannabis were quickly assuaged.

Now I feel like a professional!"

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is the most honest CelebToker out there. She had said that her honesty is for her fans. And that's rare in a town built on bullshit. Watch~out girl, you committed treason.

You're a 'bud' bloomin in the stink!

Before Lady Gaga received her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for 'The Fame Monster' she told '60 Minutes' "I still smoke allot of pot when I write music."

Honest yes, but there's been quite a few stars to come out of the 'growroom' and said they partook of the sacrament. And then she goes:

"So I'm not goin to like sugar coat it that I'm some like sober human being, cause I'm not. When you asked me about the sociology of fame and what artists do wrong -- what artists do wrong is they lie. And I don't lie. I'm not a liar," she said. "I built good will with my fans. They know who I am. And I'm just like them in so many ways."

Oliver Stone (stoned)

Oliver Stone followed Frances McDormand as the next Hollywood Celeb Toker to appear on the cover of High Times magazine 'catchin one.'

And from the looks of it, it was professionally rolled by the photo crew, unlike the one Frances had so many lighters to spark for her. Could it be the new editor there thought of this? Hopefully he will help sales, as well.

Stone-ed said he feels the same way Willie Nelson feels, "Grass is God's gift." He also said in his cover story that, in his view, California has surpassed others around the world in producing the best cannabis.

His new celluloid epic is titled 'Savages' and opens sometime in July. And from the looks and taste of the trailers, it seems to be a cross between 'Scarface' and 'Traffic.' Stone-ed also lamented that he has been partaking of the kind herb, on and off again, since he was quite young. "I'm thinking myself of getting into the MMJ business, although I suspect there'd be a lot of stress with the Feds changing the rules all the time. Those bastards!"

The Blessed, Smokin Sadhu

2012-05-16T07:19:00.000-07:00

In Hinduism, sādhu (skt साधु sādhu, “good; good man, holy man”) denotes an ascetic, wandering monk. Although the vast majority of sādhus are yogīs, not all yogīs are sādhus. The sādhu is solely dedicated to achieving mokṣa (liberation), the fourth and final aśrama (stage of life), through meditation and contemplation of brahman. Sādhus often wear ochre-colored clothing, symbolizing their sanyāsa (renunciation). This way of life is open to women; the female form of the word is sādhvī साध्वी.

Sadhus are sanyasi, or renunciates, who have left behind all material and sexual attachments and live in caves, forests and temples all over India and Nepal.

A Sadhu is usually referred to as Baba by common people. The word baba also means father, grandfather, or uncle in many Indian languages. Sometimes the respectful suffix -ji may also be added after baba, to give greater respect to the renunciate. It is also a term of endearment for small boys.

There are 4–5 million sadhus in India today and they are widely respected for their holiness, and sometimes feared for their curses. It is also thought that the austere practices of the sadhus help to burn off their karma and that of the community at large. Thus seen as benefiting society, sadhus are supported by donations from many people. However, reverence of sadhus is by no means universal in India. Historically sadhus have often been viewed with a certain degree of suspicion, particularly amongst the urban populations of India. Today, especially in popular pilgrimage cities, posing as a sadhu can be a means of acquiring income for non-devout beggars.

There are naked Naga ("sky-clad") Sadhus which are non-shaven and wear their hair in thick dreadlocks, and Jata, who carry swords. Sadhus may claim to keep company with ghost, or live in cemeteries as part of their holy path. Indian culture tends to emphasize an infinite number of paths to God, such that sadhus, and the varieties that sadhus come in have their place.

Joan Rivers

2012-02-03T07:39:00.000-08:00

Rivers smoked marijuana on her reality show earlier this year and said back in the day she smoked it with Betty White, George Carlin, Woody Allen and Bill Cosby.

Publicity stunt or whatever gets you through the night, Joan Rivers seemed to be smoking the KIND with her friend and surprised TV viewers Tuesday evening on her reality show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best.

In the sequence Joan and her friend buy medicinal cannabis at a dispensary then spark and puff from a exotic pipe in the ca r.

Rivers quickly, almost too quickly to be believed, goes into giggles with her friend who isn't seen puffing at all. Then, as a poorly scripted Cheech and Chong celluloid epic, Joan has to call her Daughter to come and pick her up because they can't start the car, or was it already running. Funny, she never had to tell Melissa where she is stranded. Ah yes, Hollywood for Hollywood sake.

Melissa, obviously showing this is the extent of her acting ability and her career, plays to be not amused and acts upset saying, "My 78-year-old mother has now become 17, and I have become a soccer mom yelling at her teenage kid." (hey girl, your Mom is the talent in the family, put you in the 'lap of luxury' ..... you've done what?)

The scene ends on a happy note, duh, at the hot tub when all three woman, fully dressed, are lost in giggles, bubbles and without a care. It goes to show ya - need ratings, need to boost your career, get caught smoking pot, or say you're addicted and headed for the rehab. Thats the way the 'world' turns in Hollywood.

Donahue received her own prescription for medical marijuana in 2007 to treat PMS.

When asked in an interview in the Philadelphia Inquirer whether that meant she smoked marijuana only one week a month, she replied: 'It's a very flexible medicine.'

'I took all my stuff into the desert related to my acting career and burned it all,' Donahue, 37, also told the newspaper.

The only thing she salvaged was the blue ski cap from the Blair Witch poster.
'That's the only thing I kept,' she says. 'I figured if things got really bad, I could always sell it on eBay.'

As her acting career stalled, she embarked on a new career as medical marijuana grower and is releasing a book called GrowGirl: How My Life After The Blair Witch Project Went to Pot about the experience next month.

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson hasn’t been shy about smoking marijuana in the past, but a new interview reveals that this past may not be so distant. In an interview with The Weekly Standard released Monday, Johnson admits that he smoked marijuana recently for medicinal purposes.

Johnson is an avid supporter of the legalization of marijuana and the revelation that it’s a part of his past isn’t a new one. When asked if he ever smoked marijuana, he referenced Bill Clinton circa 1992 to The New Republic in November, saying “I never exhaled.” But The Weekly Standard prompted a response from Johnson that puts his use of marijuana within the last two years: “It’s not anything I volunteer, but you’re the only person that actually asked about it,” he said, “But for luck, I guess, I wasn’t arrested.”

David Peel

2011-09-21T09:52:00.000-07:00

Article from here: http://bagtwo.scottunes.com/NewSiteDD/ragsHTML/JEFF1Peel.html

John and Yoko needed a vehicle for voicing their uproar and Peel, who was already a major part of the Street - underground scene was a good connection. Along with Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman and many other radical activists of the early '70's, Lennon would go on to compose his infamous "Sometime In NYC" album for Apple Records, while producing an Apple album for Peel's band as well.

David Peel. America's "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw", embodies perhaps more than any other musician alive today, the spirit of the late John Lennon.
Lennon once compared Peel to artist, Pablo Picasso. The former Beatle confided in Andy Warhol's "INTERVIEW" magazine, that "producing David Peel was the highest point in his life".

John Lennon recalled first seeing David Peel, and his street assembled version of the "Lower East Side Band", performing in front of a large crowd in Washington Square Park, in 1971. "He was shouting, why do you have to pay to see stars?" says Lennon. "I was embarrassed. I thought surely he must know I'm here. Yoko and I loved his music, his spirit and his philosophy of the street."

Ignoring the objections by "certain" former members of The Beatles, John and Yoko still signed Peel to Apple Records. David's first effort for Apple - an album entitled "The Pope Smokes Dope", which had immediately set off an International furor. The record was banned in nearly every country of the world, except for the United States, Canada and Japan.

The controversy was a bit reminiscent of Lennon's offhanded remark that The Beatles were "more popular than Jesus Christ."

Amy Winehouse

Oh, if only she stayed with the kind herb!

Amy Winehouse died from the 'shock' of alcohol withdrawal, says family.

BY LARRY MCSHANE

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Trying to get sober might have killed Amy Winehouse. The beehived diva, infamous for her drug and booze intake, went cold turkey on her heavy drinking in the month before her death on Saturday - and family members think her decision was fatal.

"Abstinence gave her body such a fright, they thought it was eventually the cause of her death," a family friend told British newspaper The Sun.

Her father, Mitch, believed "the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take," the friend said.

Some rock & roll activists want to save the rain forest. West Coast rappers Cypress Hill would probably rather smoke it.

''Wanna see my new electric bong?'' asks the group's 23-year-old frontman, B-Real, caressing a battery-powered pot pipe as if it were the last of the Fabergé eggs. ''It's got a little engine inside with a filter. Push the button in the back and it shoots out smoke.'' He flicks his Bic and performs a demonstration. ''The guy who thought this up deserves a f---ing Nobel Prize.''

Medical studies suggest that prolonged marijuana use can result in short-term memory loss, lowered sperm count, and lack of motivation, among other damage. In the case of Cypress Hill — three glassy-eyed, pro-pot musicians from one of L.A.'s seedier 'hoods — its most observable result so far has been a smash hit record. The band's second album, Black Sunday (featuring such trippy tunes as ''I Wanna Get High,'' ''Hits From the Bong,'' and ''Legalize It''), caught the music world napping three weeks ago by selling a record 260,000 copies its first week, grabbing the top slot on the Billboard chart from U2's Zooropa, and becoming the first No. 1 record in history to celebrate pot toking explicitly.
