Hi KFL!

Off to our 3rd month this year and we know that everyone are all busy with a lot of things - end of school year, graduation, and even preparing for WKC! But let's pause for a while and learn more on how to be a good Christian by Stewardship. (see DOWNLOADS section)

Our generation today lacks teaching about basic virtues to our kids. Media, technology and the society tell us that we could have all the things that we want, anytime and anywhere, but not teaching us how to take care of it. We have to admit that these are factors that greatly affect our children and we have to do something to conserve the purity and innocence of our kids. That is why here in CFC KFL, we teach the kids with the same virtues and values we have learned before so that, they may grow into good Christian kids, who will have good foundation in their choices and decisions in life.

As we discuss the topic this month, we hope to teach our kids the value of recognizing everything as God's property and learning how to appreciate the privilege of managing it. This means that all that we are and all that we have are not really ours to begin with. They all belong to God. So our duty as Christians is to learn how to become responsible stewards of our Lord's resources entrusted into our care. It means to manage everything to the best of our abilities for His glory.

We hope that in this simple activity we will be able to open the minds and hearts of our kids about stewardship. And as we do this activity, may we be able as well reminded of this great lesson and apply it in our lives. It is never too late to learn and to change, for in the eyes of God, all of us is a masterpiece in progress.

Kids Praise Assembly of KFL Paranaque

The CFC KFL District of Paranaque had a very successful and fun filled Kid's Praise Concert last Jan 29, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Center of the Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish in BF Homes, Paranaque. The Kid's Activity was a part of a week long celebration of PCJ's 30th Anniversary Fiesta.

It was attended by about 51 kids coming the Developing Community of the PCJ (Target 1 & 2, F. Cruz, Lagoon, Pechayan) and with the help of around 17 Heart Champs/YFLs.

With the full support of our YFL District Band (Kuya Justin Ursua, Kuya Luis Macaraan, Kuya Zog Cachero, Kuya Japs del Espiritu and our ever dedicated Heart Champs (Ate Sophie Leguera/Kuya Von Dimacuja, District Kuya Jam Michaelson, among others and our Tito Philip/Tita Cristy Dimacuja, the kids were able to appreciate the value of charity and sharing through the examples and games given by our District Ate Zoila and Kuya Japs. The kids were all uplifted by the teaching of songs and enjoyed the dance steps by our Heart Champs. The closing Kid's Praise was headed by our District Kuya Jam. The activity ended with the distribution of food/merienda and chocolates.

Overall, it was a fun and spirit-filled Kid's Activity that the children from our developing community experienced and learned from. It has always been a wonderful experience bringing them closer to Jesus.

Hi KFL!

It's only the 2nd month of this amazing year and yet, the Lord has shown us so much! With our community's theme this year, "CHOOSE LIFE!" (Dt. 30:15), we're sure that the Lord wants us to experience the fullness of life by choosing Him and by choosing the life He has planned for us.

This month's topic for our KPA (we hope you already get used with our new name for the Monthly assemblies :-D) will be all about HONESTY (check the DOWNLOADS section). It is one of the basic virtues that any person should have. Honesty brings out real freedom in us. Honesty gives us integrity in doing our work. And honesty is what makes God happy. For it means, telling the truth, be in truth and living in truth. Therefore, when we choose to be honest, we choose God. For Truth is HIM. And when we choose God, we continue to choose the wonderful life He has for each one of us. And we want our kids to experience that kind of life - a life that will overflow with blessings, a life that is pleasing to our God. And it is just right that young as they are, they'll know and understand that God has a great life ahead of them. They can start now by choosing God through the virtues He is teaching us, like honesty.

We always hope that more than our kids learn the topics we have every month, is that, us, as their parents, coordinators and Heart Champs, be able to live out as well these topics in our lives. So we may be good examples for them and that they may see Jesus in us. We continue to pray for each one of us, asking the Lord for the wisdom and guidance on how to lead His children back to Him.

Hi KFL!

A happy and blessed new year to all of us!

2011 has been a year of many blessings and challenges as well, that tested our faith and also showed the strength of God in our service and personal lives. We are still in awe of His greatness, on how He worked in our own situations and made us more faithful and steadfast in our personal relationship and service with Him.

This new year is a new opportunity for God to manifest His greatness in our lives over and over again! We are given a fresh start in all aspects, and in KFL, we will start an amazing year once more with the Lord by this month's topic: the Bible (check our downloads section). This topic is very important for us, Catholics, for thru the Word of God, we are continuously nourished spiritually and this helps us to grow more in conviction - by reading it, understanding it and applying it in our daily lives! More than the long list of resolutions and hopes that we do every start of a new year, we hope that this topic would be a a reminder for us to desire more on knowing God through His Word, and that His words be our guide for us to have a joyful, fruitful and peaceful life this 2012 and the years to come... simply by obeying His Word and will in our lives!

We hope that not only our kids will be empowered to integrate bible readings in their daily lives, but also, us - the KFL Parents, Coordinators and Heart Champs - practice reading it everyday; for it will surely make us more attuned to what the Lord wills for us!

IT'S DECEMBER! IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Hi KFL friends!

The month of December has finally arrived! It's the last and the best month of the year! :) It's time for parties, reunions and gifts. Most importantly, it's the time to celebrate the birthday of our Savior, Jesus Christ!

How do we prepare ourselves for our Savior's birthday? Here are some tips we'd like to share with you:

Attend the Simbang Gabi, complete the 9-day novena, and offer a special intention for your little sacrifice.
Go to confession and have a good one. It feels great to be have a clean slate when we welcome the Lord.
Sort the stuff you haven't used for a year or more. Gather them and share them with charity organizations, orphanages, outreach program, or those who were affected by calamities. Maybe a cousin, friend or neighbor might be able to put it into good use too. Just make sure that it is still usable and in good condition.
Make your Christmas wish list. It's Jesus' birthday, and I bet, He is willing to make your wishes come true on His special day! (As long as it's for your own good and it's according to His Father's will.)
Reunite with old friends. It's feels nice to rekindle old friendships, to share God's blessings and be inspired with each other's stories.
Attend your KFL Christmas Party! This is the best way to share with other KFL brothers and sisters, the joy, love and spirit of Christmas! You can have games, talent presentations or you can use our suggested activities about Joy and Christmas.
Donate a pair of slippers (or more!) to our Mangyan brothers and sisters in Mindoro! The KFL team will celebrate their Christmas party with the Mangyans on Dec. 18-19 and part of the activity is to give one pair of slippers to the each kid there. If you're interested and would like to donate, send an email to Kuya JC, our KFL International Coordinator.
Share love BIG time - may it be through giving gifts, sharing your time or asking and giving forgiveness! Whatever you decide to do, LOVE is the essence of this season. For it is because of LOVE that Jesus became human to be with us; it is because of LOVE that we have Christmas every year; and it is because of LOVE that we are able to share love with others.

May the spirit of love, joy and peace be upon us and our families this Christmas. May we never fail to celebrate the goodness of the Lord in our lives by sharing our blessings as well to others. May we always remember that Christmas will always be about love personified through Jesus Christ.

God bless you more and may all your wishes come true!

KFL Monthly Assembly: November 2011

Hi KFL friends!

Only 2 months left and 2011 is already over! A lot has happened in our lives and in our community this year, and the Lord has manifested again and again, His strength in our lives! This year, the CFC KFL ministry also took a radical turn in our teachings for the kids by introducing to them topics on the basic foundation of our Catholic faith. And this month, we are focusing on the Spiritual Works of Mercy. (check out our DOWNLOADS section). These are the following:

Admonish the sinner
Instruct the ignorant
Counsel the doubtful
Comfort the sorrowful
Bear wrong patiently
Forgive all injuries
Pray for the living and the dead

These works are oriented toward our souls and necessary for our salvation. We are called to be merciful, and the opportunities to practice it are frequent and urgent, especially in these trying times. May we learn to love others through these spiritual works so that through our sacrifices, we may bring others, especially our kids in the awareness of God's mercy and love to each one of us.

We hope that this month's topic will bring each one of us to a deeper understanding and conviction of our Catholic faith!

KFL Monthly Assembly: October 2011

Hi KFL friends!

It's October once more and it means that it's the month of the Holy Rosary! This is the perfect time to teach our children a deeper appreciation of praying the rosary. And we would like to emphasize that in our activity this month (which you can click at the DOWNLOADS section).

We would like to share with you also the 15 promises of Our Lady in praying the Rosary. May these also encourage us to pray more often, trusting the Lord through Mama Mary that He is answering all our prayers:

You can also invite your kids to participate in the Living Rosaries happening in your parishes or at the Children's Rosary Rallies that will happen on October 1 (please see the previous post).

We hope that through these activities, our kids (and us as well!) would be more faithful in praying the Holy Rosary. We also pray that through our devotion in praying the Rosary, may we fall more in love with Jesus through Mary and deepen our faith and understanding of God's love to us.

13th Children's Rosary Rally

Hi KFL Friends!

A week from now would be again our 13th Children's Rosary Rally (CRR)! It's the time where we gather as one KFL family, together with other kids around the Philippines and some parts of the world, to pray the Rosary, to pray to Mama Mary, to pray to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit; for our families, for our friends and loved ones, and for other kids to get to know Jesus more through Mama Mary.

This year's theme is "Reaching Out to the World through Mary" with Our Lady of Penafrancia as our inspiration. As kids, we are encouraged and empowered to go out of our comfort zones and reach out to those in need, especially the kids like us, through prayers and all the help we can give them. For even if many would say that we can't do many things because we're just kids, in CFC KFL, we believe that NO ONE IS TOO YOUNG TO KNOW CHRIST!

Participate in these annual event in your areas! For Metro Manila, simultaneous CRRs would be happening at the following sites:

Chapel of the Holy Family, Greenhills, San Juan - for Districts of Cubao, Manila and Pasig
Sacred Heart Parish, Brookside, Cainta - for District of Antipolo
San Nicolas de Tolentino, Pag-Asa, QC - for District of Novaliches
Our Lady of Fatima Parish - for District of Paranaque

KFL Monthly Assembly: September 2011

Hi KFL Friends!

It's already the start of the -ber months! Christmas is just around the corner, and before you know it, 2011 is already over! September is also the birth month of Mama Mary, Mother of Jesus. So, if you could attend mass on this day to thank the our Heavenly Father God for giving life to Mama Mary; for it was through her that His only begotten son became man. :)

And since we're talking about Mass, this is actually the topic of this month's assembly: the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. It is the "source and summit of the Christian Life" (CCC#1324); it is where the miracle of turning the flesh and blood of Christ into the bread and wine that we receive; and it is considered as the highest point of prayer since we are becoming one with our Heavenly Father through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We would like to teach our kids to have this kind of appreciation and awareness of the importance of the Holy Eucharist even in their young age. We believe that having the joy in experiencing and receiving God through the Holy Eucharist will also deepen their Catholic faith and personal relationship with Him.

Kindly check the DOWNLOADS section for the copy of the activity and the letters to the parents. We hope that as you do this activity with the kids, may it also influence you more to get to know our Catholic faith through the Mass. May we also share our own personal conversion stories to the children on how it is continuously changing us.

KFL Monthly Assembly: August 2011

Hi KFL Friends!

It's rainy month again and may somehow dampen our spirits because of the floods and a lot of no-school days... but hey, there's a lot more to celebrate because this month, the biggest celebration of youth gathering from all over the world will happen at Madrid, Spain for the World Youth Day! And not only that, our Fulltime Pastoral Workers are given the privilege to attend this once-in-a-lifetime experience to have their own personal Jesus-experience with other youths and the chance to meet the Pope! All because of your help and prayers!

As we celebrate the WYD Month, us in KFL will be focusing on the topic about the Sacrament of Penance. This sacrament will allow us to have a deeper understanding on our relationship with our God by being aware of the things that hurts Him. This will also help us realize the importance of asking forgiveness to those people we've caused pain and giving forgiveness to those who have hurt us.

To forgive and to ask forgiveness are one of the virtues we often have the difficulty to practice with. And the Lord knows it; that is why he included it in His prayer - "and forgives us our debts as we forgive those who sinned against us". The Lord tells us to first ask forgiveness for this requires humility on our end, and giving forgiveness is just the result of our humility. Also, Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew what we could benefit in forgiving others - "If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you." (Mt. 6:14). So, before we teach the kids about forgiveness, let us reflect in ourselves if we are really practicing this virtue. For this month's topic is not only for the kids to learn, but also to remind us adults, that forgiveness is the key to lasting relationships and hopefully will bring us closer to others, a deeper understanding of our weaknesses and a much stronger relationship with the Lord.

Hi KFL Friends!

This July, the topic for our KFL monthly activity is about the Ten Commandments. This highlights our understanding of the law of God and hopefully would empower us to practice it in our daily lives. (check our DOWNLOADS section)

Just like before, the Coordinators are encouraged to discuss it among yourselves on what activity is best for the kids given the objectives that we want to achieve. We continue to hope that through this practice, your relationship with each other is deepened and your creativity will emerge.

We apologize for the late posting of the activity. We hope that this topic will not only benefit the kids but also, will remind us to be more prudent in obeying the law of God, not because it is our responsibility, but out of our love and reverence for Him.

KFL Monthly Assembly: June 2011

Hi KFL Friends!

Summer vacation is officially over and classes are about to begin in a few days! We hope that you are all-ready and prepared to go to school and experience a new and exciting school year once more!

We all know that June isn't all about going to school again, but it is also about our CFC FFL community's birthday! And start of another calendar year for our CFC KFL Ministry! And since it's a "new" year for us, we are also introducing a new set of topics for our Monthly Assemblies that will help us understand more how to be a cool catholic kid and living pure for the Lord! This month, we will be talking about Saints as our brothers and sisters. We want all our KFL members to choose a specific saint that they would follow as an example.

If you would notice, our monthly assembly guide (check the DOWNLOADS section)isn't the same as the usual that we post here. We want our KFL Coordinators and Heart Champs to think of different strategies and activities for our kids that will help them complete the objectives given. Feel free to email us for any inquiries or share with us what you ahve planned for so we could have a compilation of different ways in introducing this topic and be able to share it as well with everyone!

We hope that our ministry will be really blessed and also be empowered as we are the next generation of future leaders in our community. May the Lord continue to bless our hearts, ignite our passions and desires to bring these young ones to Him.

Still looking for that ultimate, last summer activity before another school year begins? Look not anymore, for here comes the most exciting, most enriching and fun-filled KFL summer workshops!

The theme of this year's summer workshop is AMO LA VIDA (I love Life). The workshops aim to promote the culture of life integrated through various activities that will surely make you appreciate the gift of life while learning something new!

This year's KFL summer workshops is also a fund raising activity for us, your Ate and Kuya Missionaries from CFC KFL, YFL and SFL to help us go to World Youth Day in Spain this August. Registration fee is Php 500.00 per session (except for No-Cook Kitchen Workshop and Arts and Krafts, which is Php 700.00 including materials). You can just pay every session, so it won't be that heavy on the pocket.

There will be an exhibit to be conducted on June 17, 2011 wherein art works, literary pieces and photos of the workshops' participants will be featured. Also, those who will take the Guitar and the No-cook Kitchen Workshops will participate in the program and food sale! How cool is that!

Tell your Moms and Dads now about this cool and exciting summer event! Not only you'll learn something new, but also, you'll be able to help your Missionary Ates and Kuyas to WYD! Hi KFL friends!

May is already here and we bet that you are enjoying your summer vacation this year! After the WKC last week, it's time for us now to make our summer vacation more exciting: attending the KFL Monthly Assembly! Wuhoo! And this month's topic is about GOODNESS - teaching our kids to be good and allowing them and us to share this to others. We apologize as well for posting this late since everyone got busy with the WKC preparations. And we are trying to upload new Kids Praise videos so you could practice those moves in giving praise to our Strong God!

May we continue to give a super and unforgettable KFL experiences to our kids and hopefully, these experiences will mold them to be more Christ-like kids and also share them to other kids and to us, adults too! Let us continue to support each other in bringing these kids to the kingdom of God.

KFL Monthly Assembly: April 2011

Hi KFL friends!

It's the start of another month again and time for another KFL Monthly Assembly! (clap, clap, clap!) This month, we want to teach our kids how to be gentle in all aspects, just as Jesus has been teaching us in His ministry. You can check the topic outline at the DOWNLOADS section and study it very carefully before conducting it with the kids, since one of our activities this month is an experiment! Yes, an experiment! To see and test how gentle we are in doing things. So please, be careful in doing this okay?

As for the video of the songs, unfortunately our internet connection is a little bit slow. But we will try our best effort to upload all videos as soon as possible, so you could learn new Kids Praise songs and will be able to share it with others as well!

Keep up the good work KFL friends and we know that the Lord sees your effort and will reward you for the work you are doing for Him and for the kids! We are always one with you in prayers!
