Romney Gaffe

Romney insisted that because of the supposed safety net in the US, the very poor do not need his help, but the middle class does.Rival Newt Gingrich was quick to jump on the remarks, stating that he wants to be President for all of the American people, while pundits and analysts suggested that Romney’s comments show he isn’t ready to face Obama.The comments are expected to be a major speed bump for the former Massachusetts Governor, even after a huge victory in Florida on Tuesday. Even if he does secure the Republican nomination, expect Obama’s camp to use this sound byte over and over.

North Korean Tweets

Prosecutors in South Korea have charged a member of the opposition Socialist Party for re-tweeting posts from a North Korean account. Park Jeong-Geun has been charged under the National Security law, which bans people from praising, sympathizing, or co-operating with North Korea.The charges stem from tweets that read “long live Kim Jong-il” and “Dear General Kim Jong-il is the genius of the military and the symbol of victory who the entire world looks up to and follows.” Park insists that these re-tweets from the North Korean Community for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea were meant as sarcastic, and not in sympathy.

Ground-hogging all day long

According to Ontario’s own groundhog Wiarton Willie and Nova Scotia’s Schubenacadie Sam, winter has finally come to an end. However, the predictions by the Canadian groundhogs are at odds with Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil, who is predicting another six weeks of cold. For most of us here in Ontario, we can agree that this winter has been unusually mild. Willie’s prediction may be true, but don’t get your hopes up too much. Last year several of the groundhogs - including Willie - predicted an early spring while a violent snowstorm battered Ontario.
