Second Semester in PSG Tech

Let us recall the second semester of college life...,

This is the point where we started entering into department subjects. Not many department subjects but CO, C++, Chemistry and physics exclusively for circuit branches.

First look at the Chemistry sir, Kaaniappan. He came for lab during first semester. I thought he was a strict officer. But he is not very strict. His bonus marks for assignments and tutorials are real good. "Your class average mark in this tutorial is very low pa. So I give +1 mark for all". Whenever he enters the class he used to tell this dialogue "Those who sit in the last bench, come to first bench pa". Even if first bench is full,.. He gave 'S' grade to many guys and he just spitted the marks to everyone in final exams. But the subject was very wague. I started finishing all the internals(exams) within 5 mins. Infact, everyone in chemistry department wondered when I finished the second internals in 10 mins. I forget to mention one thing - He awarded 25 - 27 marks for all those who attend 3rd internals.

Then, Maths mam. Oh God... How she managed to take class for whole hour (without any diversions). She was real lecturer, taking attendence while we works out the problems. She always starts with the dialogue "Saaaaaallv" We asked half hour break to prepare for lab exams, she gave 5 mins. But she finished the whole maths syllabus... Gr8 really.

Workshop. Everyone had workshop in their first sem., CSE mattum second sem. Two mech faculties handled the workshop - Ramu, Raju. (They are humans with monkey names). My first workshop division was lumbering. After boring class, we started working on a piece of wood. Manoj took the sawal and at last he made a scale out of that wood (avlo elachuttan). That was a thick wood. Then comes pal pandi comedy. He was @ plumbing division. I heard once that IT students askd his name and he refused to tell them, in the same class a guy came to him shouting 'pal paandi sir, ungalukku phone'. Vetty scene nai.

Suganthi maam - CO. Marakka mudiuma. She started with the same old diagram (she drawn the same diagram for G1 when she entered her first class with them for C). I think she again put the same diagram in her first muP class. Oh God!! Regarding her valuation.., how she be able to study all the papers from top to bottom. Even she fully valuated the MuP program. Thanks to Madhumathi mam, she took 3rd internals, we got atleast a respectible mark.

Yea, Yea Yea,, Chemistry Lab... Mr.Kaniappan. How can I forget a experiment where me and manoj mixed extra water(too much) (accidentaly) and got accurate answers. We got 50. I think I mixed too much water that answer s not at all possible. And on the other side, brinda was doing te experiment wit pin point precision only to get this dialogus "U might have diluted the solution too much" and she belivd tat we did gr8, and she missd it. Guess the standards of Chemistry dept. Then for the last experiment (Anodizing), we didnt got the answers, but kaniappan called for correction, we dont know what to do. And the other batch got some 48. Then comes the singham rescue - Manoj got a model observation (prev year). We copied the values from that observation, and got 50 for that exercise too (Anodizing plate a oru varusham a mathala). Mapla was a real man in chemistry lab. He will help Sir to finish last sentence.
Sir : "You have to pour 50 ml of water"
Mapla : (With Tapping head) "50 ml water"...
Sir : "And mix concentrated sulphuric acid "
Mapla : (tapping the head)"sulphuric acid"
And it goes on for all te experiments.

Then the physics lab. Thanks to naveen, I finished the experiments successfully. The viva in physics lab s te ultimate comedy. We have to go individually to attend the viva. There, sir ll be on form some time (ask unrelated questions) and sometimes some easy questions. But I don may anytin, for most of te guys the viva marks are fixed (8). The mark will vary wrt the order you are going (If you are going infront of other staff, u may even get tougher questions and might get 5 or 6).

Some of the unforgettable experiences are,... "Mech quit te football match due to fear of F5ERZ" written in board (I hope it s not in 1st sem). ISRO Rockets in CO, made Suganthi mam curse the entire class. Physics sir looting a cellphone (he gave eventually after 5 mins) saying some s**t new mobile rules. Starting of kumudham sms (I believe anbu startd it). Chill out mass...,

Those are green memories..., Will never ever come back again.., Those innocent faces in first year.., The PEC period., Pipette, Burette for one last time..., And when you think of it.., you want to relive again...,

Fine, this post could be somewhat untrue. There are some people in world, so cool to me, only when I am under critical circumstances. I would like to thank all of them and in particular: my Dad, Mom, Uncle, Aunty, Chitappa, Chitti, Periappa, Periamma, Appachi, Ammachi and also to my Tuition Incharge Mr. Mayilsamy soon will get his doctorate in his research and definitely my f5erZ prankster for helping me to have this post.

Some content may not be relevant for some audience. To all CRY-BABY and to some NOTE-TAKERS, SUPER-MUGGERS and obviously f5erz girls of higher GPAs. Please Stop reading it and this post is not for you.

Prologue :

   I was a student of very esteemed No.3 Private Engineering College in India as per the price paid to print PSG College of Technology's name ahead of VIT and Amirtha in Outlook, An English Weekly magazine which does published a column for Top 10 Engineering Colleges in India and also making Sona College ahead of Thiayagarajar and CIT. Very prestigious Institution in Coimbatore, made a new symbol in Avinasi Road., by building a bridge as a tribune to Coimbatore. As, I knew that I am plagiarising him, India's most loved writer, Since it is a post, no registration is needed from him.

Bore Beginning :

BEFORE I REALLY BEGIN MY POST, LET ME FIRST TELL you what this book is not. It is a guide on how soapings your lectures / professors throughout the college will help you better in your career. Here it is an example of an innocent life to spared by 3 of his friends - Loci; Wiki; QMary but not the Mogi, C/O DE Shaw India (P) Ltd. I expect Loci, Wiki and QMary will probably read this post but I dont really care. But Wiki, QMary cannot post for nuts., Since they need to tore many papers for their respective companies June-Diper and suN-TEL India respectively, and Loki, even though he could really do whatever he wants, is too lazy to type in Google Chat and that type. I mean, I am afraid of Mogi only who can just copy paste my post and replace the names encarved in it, post it in mohankumar89.blogspot.com and torment the f5erz by duplicating his messages in Google's BuZZ.

Also, let me tell you one more thing this post is certainly not. This post will not help you to bring out your talents and instincts here. Wiki-d-perusu, most senior of our group, may be the last people on earth you want to ask about getting thru and probably he will give a CD that will teach how to tackle faculty in this Packed-Superb-with-Gory college. Perusu the guy who locks himself in a room of books for over two years to finish his Diploma in Computer Networks at the same cell. Loki, who will silently do his choking when there were environments ready for him, as all knew this mathematical geek will make you eat the sun before an hour during internals. QMary, one who will round with the teki-geeks of CSE like Arnav, Vignesh, Ganesh as if he was going to have his date with them, mostly we will found him bargaining with Mogi in-order to make their education in action... no algorithms in auction. And, finally me... myself..., My years in the school was most good than college. Since, I am topper in Xstd in my school, I am the apple of entire school. My principle, teachers... good looking young and fresh kinder garden teacher, and including perfect buttsy commerce girls' knew me since I was chubby toddler to all in my school, doing some dirty things in Mathematics. Anyone in my class knew that I am a Volley-Ball player, I used to play with people below my age. I love dominition in my school, probably yours were too.

   From, this paragraph, I think I have made my disclaimers ready to attack me and it is OK and now it is the time to commence.

Well, I have to start, nowhere back to 2008, in midst of February. Yes, It was Second year and fourth Semesters... The enjoyable semester under the sleepy warmth roof of A120, bare back under Principal room and his favourite old cramped A-Block.

   As most of you knew, Our group actually comprised of five at that time Perusu, Me, Loci, QMary and Mogi. Either Mogi was not embarassed with his CGPA, or his fellow block hostelers were not able to quote anything for his participation in TopCoder. Inc., and so Mogi started to separate himself from hostel and thus leading himself to be a Day Scholar.

There was 6 courses as per norms Probability and Queuing Theory, Design Analysis of Algorithms, Theory of Computing, Operating System, Database Technology, System Software. Supreme Muggers to thy right behind the faculty's cloudy blackboard. We four, managed to get a fine left-most seat middle seats. Note-Takers will be in front of our bench comprising very great rascals, who won the prize of best nodding groups of PSGs. In whom, the class f5erz made their entire hopes during the days of trials before internal exams .... In 6 of the courses, there was no English, even the practicals were miser with time. I was kept wondering with J.Suganthi not only her dark contrasted lipstick but also how will she had her lunch without disturbing her mouth-coating. The entire subject scheme of that semester kept boring. Some of the ultimate-rascals of mugging and book-worms found it interesting through their arts of flattery and regular attendance.

   Since the class in A-Block stood near the ex-Bike Stand in PSG., most of the God-Fathers of f5erz-G2 arrive after the bell-rang, Late-comers are the class-hero is the new trend in any college. So they will come and show all signs of galantic look to attract all the minds of f5erz.., Being a day-scholar and the only son of a orthodox millitarian, I wanted be there, in class, prior to 30 minutes of my lecturing. Operating System made me a hike, since that bloody brutal gave marks even on unconvincing performance. SysSoft was good at that moment. PQT class gave a most intoxicated bitter medicine to all except to some Logic geeks like Loki and Vibu. It sucks me entirely. TOC gone good with its diagramatic logics, but the course headed by Janaki resembles the latter day actress 'Julie Ganapathi' Saritha. DAA with OHP class is a relaxation class for me. It beats by head for a necessary nap after a big lunch.

    Days rolled by... after two internals.., my internal marks was soo poor that which comprised of single digit marks in PQT, TOC and DAA. I was helpless. My friends to whom I was webbed find their way difficult to write third internals, since they hit above average marks in all subjects. It was very disgusted scenario for QMary, who needed to study with me to write our third internals. The Logic Master Loci, compassing Wiki on one side and Qmary on other side will stay us to make his subjects more mystery. Wiki, sometimes will vomit everything that which he stuffed. Still., I looked helpless. I provoked the ways of malpractisioning thru the important and confidential papers passed by Maha, Mapla. So I survived sparsely with grade A in some easy subjects and Cs filled anyway causing my endurance to remain in 7 pointing case, as since I lacked the arts of flattery and my poor attendance in responding with my faculty in general. The "Dominated Co-operation" exists in PSG and with students of PSG, it causes their hike to maintain their 9degree Kelvins.

Sure, about my gang [Loci, Wiki, QMary, Mogi ] exalted with their good credits in their MarkSheets. We, hugged every class in A-Block in same bench and cried for every long slide-shows of Pujeri. Still, the days prevail in our heart as a magic. Some placed, and some not and very few placed in TATA.., still not being called.

Leaveவு செரியான மொக்கை, same Cricket2005, Ultimate Spider man, அதே அம்மா, அதே அப்பா, அதே வீடு, என் School friends ஒருத்தனுக்கும் கூட Semester முடியில, SMS பண்ணால் Reply பண்ணாத Busy புடுன்காளிகள்.. ஒரே Bore தான். எப்படியோ Silkku Maariamman துணையாள Engineering Mathematics ஜெயலெட்சுமி Paperரூ Clear ஆயிடுச்சு சந்தோஷமா Leave முடிச்சிட்டு, Collegeக்கு வந்தேன்,

இது தான் என் வாழ்வில் பூங்காற்று விசிய நேரம். சொல்லபோனால் Mogi, Viki, Loki போன்ற ஜாம்பவான்களிடம் என்னுடைய பழக்கம் அதிகம்மாச்சு. Hostel போக பம்பிய நாட்கள் போய், Hostel Watchmanகளுக்கே டாட்டா காட்டும் நாட்கள் வந்தது..! எங்கள் முதல் IV. to Bangalore, Lateral Entry - Gundu Kaarthi, Perusu, Seniorரின் வருகை. 3rd Semester : Discrete Mark Reduction Semester

இந்த Semesterரில்ல தான் நெறைய leaveவு First timeமா No Saturday Class,
Tuesday மதியானம் Classசுன்னா full Attendance கிட்டதட்ட எல்லாரும் சேர்ந்து muP classஸுல தூங்குவோம், அந்த unityஐ அடிச்சுக்க ஆளே-இல்ல, Tuesday Afternoon அது ஒரே classஸு தான், அன்றைக்கு தான் Mostly Franky, Praveenகாரு, GV, Maha, Alaguவை Meet பன்ன Appointment அன்றைக்கு போட முடியும். Collegeஜில் செம்மதிய Cut அடித்த Sem என்றால், இந்த semester தான் நினைவுக்கு வரும். வார முதல் நாள் அதாவது Monday class என்றால், தொடை நடுங்கும் Janaki Meenaவின் DataStructures Lab , Torture மேல Torture ஆகஇருக்கும், அதுவும் நான் அந்த Classக்கு போவதே Moghan - திட்டு வாங்குவதையும், அவனின் Obseயை கிழிக்கும் Janakiயை பார்க்கவே தான்,கடைசியா என்னோட Record வாங்கி எழுதி, என்னக்கும் முன்னாடி காமிச்சு Mark வாங்கினான் கவுந்தபாடி Party,

Kumary ஒரு Night Fulla போட்ட C++ codeஐ Pen Driveவுள்ள களவாடி Kabi, Dinesh போன்றவர்கள் Kumaryக்கும் முன்னாடி காட்டுவது அசாதாரணமான செயல்.., எது வேண்டிய Kumary அடுத்த Semesterள்ள Day Scholar ஆனாரு. ஒரு PenDriveவுக்கு வேண்டி Classசே அலைமோதும்., ஒரு C++ code ஒரு class முழுவதும் Circulate ஆகும், புதுசு புதுசா, தினுசு தினுசா Pen Drive Impact Labபுக்கு Virusஓட சுட சுட வரும்

குறிப்பா Thursday என்றால் Classல ஒரு ஈ, காகா இல்லாமல் வேருச்சொடி இருக்கும், ஏனென்றால் No S.E.M class அதாவது No Muthusamy Class.,
நம்ம Guhan , ஒரு நாள் Muthusamy போதையில் இருக்கும் பொது கையை உடைத்து எங்களை குஷி படுத்தினார். தினமும் Muthusamyயை பற்றிய பேச்சு அடிபடும். அவனை பத்தி சொலோன்னுமுன்னா அவன் செரியான Gorillaங்க,

கடைசி Internal கம்மி markக்கு எடுத்தேனுங்க, அவன் கிட்ட தான் Answer Sheet வாங்கனுமுன்னு போனேனுங்க, Bharaniயும், Sindhuவையும் ஒட்கார வைத்து Advice அளந்துட்டு இருந்தான், நானும் வந்தேன்! ஒவ்வரோருவர் கிட்டயும் College முடிந்த பிறகு Placementடா இல்ல Businessசான்னு கேட்டான்! இருவரும் Placement, Higher Studies என்று ஒப்பு கொண்டார்கள், பிறகு Advice கொடுத்தான் Placementடுக்கும், Higher Studiesசுக்கும் S.E.M III internal ரொம்ப முக்கியம்முன்னு அளந்துட்டான். அடுத்தது என்னிடம் கேட்டான், வஞ்சனை தெரிந்த நான் சொன்னேன் Collegக்கு அப்றோம் Business தான் Sir. சட்டென்று சொன்னான் Businessசுக்கும் SEM III Internal தான் முக்கியம்முன்னு. முதல் முதல் அவனை அவன் Cabinல பார்த்தபோது மரியாதையை வந்தது-அவனுக்காக இல்லிங்க, அவன் Cabinகாக, அப்போவே அந்த மரியாதையை தூக்கி உடச்சுட்டேனுங்க! But கடைசில Tutorial, Semester Examல அள்ளி விசிட்டாறு மனுசென்!!!

First 35வரை muP Lab காலையில் வரும், எல்லாரும் Refresh ஆகும் நேரமும் அந்த Labல என்னால அடிச்சு சொல்ல முடியும் ஒருத்தன் கூட Output காட்டிருக்க வாய்பேயில்லை. எல்லாரும் Soopera கோடாவி விடுவோம், சொல்லபோனால் நான் அந்த Lab-ல Paint தான் open பண்ணிருப்பேன், இந்த Photo கூட Moghanனுக்கு வேற வேல வெட்டி-இல்லாம எடுத்தாரு, அப்போ-அப்போ GRK அந்த labல எரிச்சல்மூடுவா!,

muPல் Loki வாங்குன 1.5 out of 30 இன்னும் என் கண்ணுல நிக்குது, அந்த Sem கடைசியில் Loki , Mogi எங்க வீட்ல S.E.M படிக்கவந்து, Race-Courseல Cycling செய்து Sight அடிச்சோம்!!! அப்றோம் Book வாங்க,Sungam Bye Passல, Vaalangulam மேல ஏரி Ukkadam வரை Cycle பயணம் செய்வோம்.

என்னை தவிர என்னோட 20 Friendsஸும் செம்ம ஜாலியா இருந்தானுங்க bcoz எல்லாரும் ஒரே class அதுவும் அந்த classல super pigureவேற. காஞ்ச மாடு கரும்பு தொட்டதள போன மாதிரி அவனுங்க அலஞ்சானுங்க. நான் மட்டும் மொக்க classல இருந்துட்டு இருந்தேன். அப்போவே First hour attendance அப்றோம் NMBakery தான்.

The First day [ORIENTATION class] - PSG College : 31 july 2006

எப்படியோ Counselling முடிச்சுது, PSG என்னை அழைத்தது, எங்க வூரிளியே Best Collegeல சேர்ந்தேன். Orientation Day தான் என்னுடைய Birthday ஆமாங்க 31 -07 -2006 தான் என்னோட 17வது Birthday - எங்க அம்மா, எங்க பாட்டி, எங்க அப்பா, அப்பறோம், எங்க மாமா's ஒரே வாழ்த்துகள் தான், அதுவும் என்னோட முதல் Phoneல 98422-55910 ,

எல்லாரும் ஒரே advice தான், எங்க பாட்டி தான் சொன்னங்க, "Seniors Rag பன்னா பேசாம இரு, கடவுள் பாத்துக்குவார்". என்னமோ தெரியிலங்க கடவுள் இப்போ வரைக்கும் என்னை பார்த்துகிட்டே இருக்கிறார், அதுனால தான் இன்னும் ஒரு Senior கூட என்னை கலாய்க்க கூட இல்லிங்க .

எதோ ஒரு மொள்ளமாரி நாய் எங்க அப்பாகிட்ட சொல்லிட்டான் "Sir, ஒன்ன இழந்தா தான் இன்னொன அடைய முடியம்" சும்மா இருப்பாரா எங்க அப்பா Cable Connectionனை அருதுட்டாறு. அந்த பரதேசியய் என்னும் தேடிட்டு இருக்கிறேன்.

The First Semester : new Kick Start

என் சோதனை காலம், எப்படி படிக்கிறது, யார friendஆக்கறது ஒரே கொழப்பம், Chemistry class எடுத்தா ஒரு பூதம் மாதிரி ஒருத்தன் பின்னாடி இருந்து dance ஆடுவான். Mathsஸுக்கு வரும் கன்னியாகுமரியின் தென்றல் எங்கள் Ashok Kumar superரா கொழப்புவ்வாறு, என்னை அவருக்கு தெரியும், என்னக்கு PSG Coaching Classல Probability எடுத்த ஆசான் அவர் தான். C Programmingக்கு வரும் அழகிய தமிழ் மகள் Madhumathi, ஒரு சிகரத்துக்கு அழைத்த எங்கள் பாச நேசன் Senthil Kumar Sir, our Physics Sir... சொல்ல பொன்னால் நான் LKG,UKG படிக்கும் போதே என்னை அவருக்கு தெரிந்திருகிறது, அதாவது நான் Drowser போட்ட காலத்தில் இருந்தே என்னை அவர் பார்த்திருக்கிறார்,

என்னோட முதல் நண்பர் தான் இப்போ வரைக்கும் என்னோடு இருக்கும் Loki. . . நான் அவரை முதல் சந்தித்தது Day Scholars சாப்பிடும் A-Block Backside Lawn மற்றும் பழைய Bike Stand தான்..!!! அங்கே நாங்க ஒரு பெரிய Group Form பண்ணுவோம், Gang ராஜா நம்ம Anbarasu தான், அவரை ஓட்டும் Vishock, Vibhu, எப்போதும் Game பத்தியே peterடும் SriNari,அவனை overtake பண்ணும் நம்ம Sharan (எ) Mickey Mouse, Rules பத்தியே பேசும் Ghilli, அவன் எதை சொன்னால்லும் கிழிக்கும் Kaarthikகும் ,Sidhaarthதும்.அப்றோம் நம்ம Lokiயும், Thaanduவும் கூட. அப்போ எல்லாரும் orkut பைத்தியங்களை இருந்தோம். நான் என் முகத்தை எல்லா Functionள்ளும், Partyள்ளும் மறைத்தேன், காரணம் எனக்கு நெறைய Friends பெயர் கூட தெரியாது. Hostelல படிக்கும் ஒரே நண்பர் தான் அது ARV மட்டும் தான், அவனும் SRV தான்.

Physics Labல, Partners ஒதுக்குனாங்க... நானும் ஆவலாய் இருந்தேன், என்னோடு partners- MahaGanesh, MaryBrinda, Meenamani, MohanKumar....sorry D.E.Shaw C/O Mogi... நானும் Mary Brindaவையும், Niveditaவையும் confuse பண்ணிகிட்டேன், Unfortunately Real Mary Brinda came..., அவங்கள பத்தி சொள்ளுனுமுனா, எல்லாம் Groupப்பா செய்வோம், Markகும், மரியாதையும் அவங்களுக்கு கிடைக்கும். Chemistry Labல நம்ம கென்னை-யப்பான் தான் வருவான், அவனுக்கு வேண்டி Gowrishankar class A-Blockகிலிருந்து ஓடுவோம், பேஷாய் மொக்க போடுவ்வான். பிறகு Kunaal, Keshaabநால Mohan Kumar இன்னொரு batch அனான்.

ED classல எல்லாரும் தூங்குவாங்க, நான் மட்டும் ED Sir எத்தின தடவை Therefore, I conclude that என்ற வார்த்தையை உச்சரிகிராறு என்ன எண்ணுவேன், பாவி மனுஷேன் ஒரு நாளு கொல வெறியா 1 மணி நேரத்துல, 270+ தடவை Therefore என்ற வார்த்தையை சொன்னாரு. எங்க G2 அதிர்ஷ்டம் செய்ததால், அந்த sir எங்க எல்லாரையும் Clear பன்ன வெச்சாரு.

இரண்டாம் semester என் College Lifeல, பல திருப்புமுனையா இருந்தது, Chill Out!, ஒரே Party மயமா இருந்துது, Workshop, வழக்கம்போல் மொக்க போடும் Afternoon Physics Class, Interesting Case யாருனா? எங்க Mathematics Lecturer சதுரடி ஜெயலட்சுமி தான், வரும் போதே கங்கணம் கட்டிட்டு வந்தது போல, Start பன்னுநோன Solve என்றும் Bell அடிச்சாலும் முடியாம lengthதா போய்கிட்டே இருக்கும். இது பத்தாதுன்னு கென்னை-யப்பான் வேற TRENDடுநு சொல்லி கடுப்பெதுவான்! அவன் Classல தலைய தூக்குனா முடிஞ்சான், Question கேட்டே சாவடிச்சிடுவான். Computer Organisation ஒரு class வேற அதுலயும் அழகு குழந்தை மாதிரி மூஞ்ச வெச்சு நல்ல Rod எதுவ்வா A.Suganthi .இந்த கூத்து பத்தாதுன்னு Workshopப்பு, Watchmanநு, cellphone caeseஸுன்னு, ஒரு புறா-கூண்டு போல ஒரு class-roomமு அது தான் நம்ம C-Block 203,

இந்த postல் நான் என்னை சுற்றிருக்கும் உலகம் அதாவது என் கோட்டர்ஸ் வாழ்க்கை

Yes!!! P-93/6, Civilians Colony, AFAC Area, Coimbatore -18.

நான் 10th standard படிச்சிட்டு இருந்தேன், Mr. Ravikumar, அதாவது நம்ம அப்பா, இந்த Quatersக்கு வேண்டி Petition போட்டு ஜெயித்தார்.

இந்த வீட்டில், கடந்த 6 வருடங்களாக நான் சந்தித்த சில மனிதர்களும் அவர்கள் என்னோடு பழகும் முறையும் மற்றும் என் பழைய வீட்டின் அனுபவுமும்

இந்த Quaters நான் முதலில் விரும்பவில்லை ஆனால் இங்கு 4 Room அதுவும் எனக்கு ஒரு Room என்றதும் ஏற்று கொண்டேன்..,

Its 8,Febrauary 2004.. விழாகோலம் எங்கள் வீட்டில், நான், அப்பா, அம்மா, Johnny குன்யீDaddy, Shiela குன்யீMummy, பழைய வீட்டை Shift செய்தார்கள்.....

வந்தோம் ஒரு புது உலகத்திற்கு, அது தான் நான் இப்பொது வசிக்கும் இந்த சொர்க்க ஸ்தலம், கடவுள் ஈவாய் கொடுத்த planet .....

நான் எங்கள் பழைய வீட்டிலிருந்து இங்கே நெறைய மாற்றங்களை பார்தேன்...

என் பழைய வீடு Lane முறை வீடு, அதனால் ஒரு சின்ன அசைவு கூட மற்ற வீடுகளில் கேட்கும், காலை 5:30 மணிக்கு எழுந்தாக வேண்டும்... என் அம்மா என்னை திட்டும் சதம், என் பக்கத்துக்கு வீட்டுகரரின் சுப்ரபாதம், ஒரே Compound Pumpகாக தண்ணீர் சண்டைகள், ரின்காறும் செய்யும் Pressure Cooker ஓசை, அழகிய செயற்கை சாம்பார் மனம், துணி அலாசும் ஒலி, காலை வெயில், பூக்கும் என் வீட்டு மலர்-தொட்டி, சின்ன சின்ன சண்டைகள், சீண்டல்கள், கொஞ்சல்கள் என்ன நான் விரும்பிய சில தருணங்கள் இருந்தும்..! நாங்கள் நாடோடிகளை போல் மூட்டை கட்ட வேண்டிய கட்டாய்யம்.

Meanwhile, எங்கள் Blockla நாங்க தான் First வந்தோம். Night ஆனா என் ஜன்னல் ஓர வேப்பா மர காத்து, ஆந்தையின் உஸ்ஸ் சப்தம், ஓசையில்லா நிசப்தம், தனிமை என்னை வாட்டியது, அடுத்த நாள் எனக்கு மட்டும் இந்த வீடு பிடிக்க வில்லை, ஒப்பு கொண்டேன் நம்ம அப்பாவிடம் : பிள்ளைகளோட பேச்சை எந்த அப்பன் தான் கேற்றுகிரங்க...!!!

பய முருதும் இரவு தொடர்ந்தது..!! சொள்ளபோன்னால், மத்திய இரவு நேரங்கழலில் [உ...ச்...சு...] போக கூட பயந்தேன். அதுனால..... வெப்ப மரம் தினமும் அழகிய மோகினியாட்டம் Dance ஆடும்....

எல்லாம் கடந்தது, சில நாட்களில் எங்கள் Block Fillனது எல்லா வீடுகளிலும் நண்பர்கள் வந்தார்கள்..., இரவு பயம் போனது!!! I feel soo lovely, roomantic, and also refreshed in my home...

OK!!! சொல்ல வந்த நண்பர்களை பற்றி சொல்லுனுமுல்லே ...,

என் அருமை தம்பி P-92/4, டி.ஜெ. சஞ்சீத் தேய்வசி

அவன் என் சித்தி அதாவது Shiela குன்யீமம்மி பைய்யன், அதிகம் பேச மாட்டான், எங்க குடும்பத்தின் Bossநு சொல்லலாம். எல்லா Decisionநும் அவன் தான் எடுப்பான். தான் ஒரு Engineering படிக்கறதை மறக்க கூடாதுன்னு மணிக்கு ஒரு தடவையவுது சொல்லுவான். தான் ஒரு Malayal Nasaraniன்னு Peterடுவான். பொய் சொன்னால்லும் பொருந்தாமல் சொல்லுவான்.For e.g., T.Rajendran ஏறந்துடாறு, Pongalur Palanisamy ஓட பையன் எங்க Schoolலுன்னு வந்தந்திகளை பரப்புவான். சஞ்சீத் முடியாதுன்னு சொல்லி நான் கேட்டதே இல்லை. Brother பண்ணுவோம் !!! அதிகம் அவனுடைய School Collegeஜெய் விட அவனுடைய Busஸ்ஸு Bus Driverரூ பத்தி தான் அதிகம் பேசுவான். சின்ன வயசுலிருந்தே அவனுக்கு Ambitionனே Bus Driver ஆக ஆகணும் தான். என் மாமாவுக்கு பிடித்த கடைகுட்டி. Easyயா பொய் சொல்லி யாவுது கவர்ந்திடுவான்.
ஆனா, எல்லா தம்பி மாதிரி அவனும் என் பேச்சை ஒரு துளி கூட கேட்க மாட்டான்.

சிகரத்தை தொட்ட சகோதரர்கள் P-93/1, நண்பர்கள், ச.திலீப் குமார் & ச.தீபக் குமார்

என் Quatersல்ல அதிகம் பழகிய நண்பர், சொல்லபோனால் என்னோட Well-Wisherன்னு சொல்லலாம். எத செய்யணும், எப்படி செய்யணும்... எந்த Bike வாங்கணும், அதிகம் இவங்க வீட்டில் தான் நான் இருப்பேன், College, Girls, Life, Atheletics, Home Science, Cinema, Cricketன்னு நெறையா பேசுவோம், அந்த வீட்டில் மூன்று Athelete சகோதரர்கள் - மூத்தவர் Hockey Player மற்றும் 200m SPRINT, Malaysia வில் MBA படிக்கிறார் , எங்கள் அண்ணன் திலீப் குமார் Hurdles வீரர், Loyola Collegeல் BBA(ICS) படித்து, Maharajaவில் MBA முடித்தார். ஆனால் Still Not Satisfied !! அதாவுது ஒரு Super Carreerகாக Wait பண்ணிட்டிருகிறார் இன்னும். இளையவர் Militaryல் Sergeantடா இருக்கிறார். அந்த வீட்டில் அனேக விசேஷங்கள் உள்ளது ! அந்த வீட்டின் Medalகலை பார்த்து மெய் சிலர்தேன், பிறகு Anty யின் Onam சாப்பாடு, Puppy நாய் குட்டி உஹும் அந்த வீட்டு குட்டி தங்கச்சி, ஒரு மனுஷனனுக்கு உள்ள எல்லா உனர்வுகளும் அந்த Puppyடம் கண்டேன், சொல்லபோனால் படி தாண்டா பத்தினி, Bathroom ல உச்சா போகும், Cellphone Ringtone நிற்கு ஏற்ப வீட்டின் உள்ளவர்களை அழைப்பது ஆகியவை.
ஒரு நாள் என்னை திலீப் அண்ணா அதிர்ச்சி செய்தார் - IHL Chennai Veerans Captain திரு. ஆடம் சின்கிளைர் என் வீட்டுக்கு வந்தது தான்!! 2010 March 31 ஒரு பேர் இழப்பு என் வாழ்வில் அண்ணன்கள் என்னை விட்டு வெகு தூரம் சென்றனர் It means Uncleலுக்கு Transfer Order வந்தது. இன்னும் பல இரவுகள் திலீப் அண்ணாவுடன் பேசிய நாட்கள் நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது. தீபக் அண்ணா என்னோடு Race Courseல Drillல்லு வாங்கின ஞாபங்கம் இன்னும் என் நெஞ்சில் நிற்கிறது. சமிபத்திய சந்தோஷங்கள் போல திலீப் அண்ணா வீட்டுக்கு நானும் சஞ்சீத்தும் கோவைபுதூர் போனோம், உறவுகளை புதுபித்தோம், புத்துயிர் அடைந்தேன்!!!

என் அடுத்த விட்டு Super Staar P-93/5, நா. கணேஷ் & நா. பாலா சகோதரர்கள்,

அவர்கள் இருவரும் அப்பாவுக்கு நடுங்கும் பிளைகள். அப்பா என்றால் பயப்படுவதை போல் நடிப்பார்கள், என்னோடு அதிகம் பேசு வார்கள், Uncleலும் நானும் Close

என் வயது Chicken சாப்பிடும் பிராமன நண்பர் P-93/8, சி. தியாகராஜன்,

அவர் ஒரு Ooty Badugar. அவரின் குழந்தை குணத்தை வெளிபடுத்தும், அவரின் கொஞ்சி பேசும் தமிழ் காட்டும். அவர் குடும்பம் பெருசு..., தினமும் கடைக்கு போவான். அவன் வீட்டில் தினமும் Guest இருப்பார்கள். அவனின் திருட்டு தம் அடிக்கிற Video தான்., இன்றைய Special... என்னமோ தெரியிலை அவன் என்னை விட்டு விலகி செல்வான்.., சில எதிர் பாராத தோல்வியை சந்தித்த பிறகு...!!! இப்போது MBA படிக்கிறான்.

எங்க Quatersல முதல் தீபாவளியைய் கொண்டாடினேன், தனிமையாக!!! ஆனால் விழா என்றால் அது Christmas தான், 24 Decemberனா, குறைந்தது 10 கூடில்கள்ளாச்சி இருக்கும், பெரிய 10 அடி Staaar, ஊரே Color lightடா மின்னும் !!! எங்கே பார்த்தாலும் மக்கள் Petrol அடிச்சிட்டு விழாவை புத்துயிர் கொடுப்பார்கள்!!! Military சரக்குக்கு செரியான sales இருக்கும். Sound Serviceலிருந்து பாட்டு, கோமாளி, கிறிஸ்துமஸ் தாதா அணிந்த குடிமகன்கள், குத்து பாட்டு, பசங்க, Beer Bottle, வீட்டு கோலங்கள். Mike ராகங்கள்ளுன்னு ஜிவுன்னு நாடி நரம்பு சரக்கு ஏறும்.

பாருங்க இன்னும் 12 ஆண்டு பாக்கி இருக்கு இந்த சொர்கத்தை விட்டு பிரிய... என் X, XII, College Exam முக்கு படித்த நாட்கள், Collegeஐ cut அடித்து Conferenceன்னு Realலூட்ட நாட்கள், Chicken Pox days., அப்பாவிடம் Purse அடிச்சா நாட்கள்... Video Games, Cricket, Christmas கூத்து!!!

Vijay in 3 idiots

Yeah, I was also shocked to hear the news... Here is some of the few things than might come if Vijay is doing a remake of three idiots

Note : This might be interesting if you have seen the 3 idiots.

All these are assumptions (high probablity assumptions made based on the recent Vijay movies)

Scene #1 : The Ragging scene

Remove the allzzz well dialogue. Put a punch dialogue. Seniors asking Vijay to remove his pants, instead of saying allzz well, he says a punch. Then, Instead of placing a electrocuted spoon outside, Vijay opens the door with a big sound (We will show him opening 4 or 5 times for effect).
Folds his hand and a punch, that senior who tried to rag him flew to electric bulb and falls down (Rajni's Batcha style). Thus he proved different.

Scene #2 : First class

Vijay was sent out of the class after many cross questioning. There, we introduce the opening song. (Not there in 3 idiots). Vijay comes to play ground and dances with other class bunkers. The kuthu paatu (like Bhagavathi movie). So He copies from others' movie as well as from his movie. The trend follows - Opening fight followed by song.

Or else, we shall have this song immediatly after fight also. He punches the seniors. Then he dances along with his fellow mates.

Scene #3 : First Years meeting with Director

Here, mass hero raises the question : "Siruu, Pen mattum special la astronauts ku sengirukkanga, aana note book, Eraser, Scale ellam sengangala,,,?"

Director : "I will clear you later"

Scene #4 : Director got angry and made Vijay to teach class

Instead of writing his friends names, Vijay finishes the entire book of Mechanical Thermodynamics (Or whatever you take) in a hour. Here, Vijay shows his super powers by just skimming the book for 3 minutes and teaches the entire book. Then he tells director : "Mug up panni mark vaanganumna naa eppo padichu mudichiruppen.., I wang to chance thise syztim op eghucation"

Scene #5 : Challenge by the Pondicherry student (after Balatkaar)

Pondicherry student after his speech of 'balatkaar' was very angry. He challenges Vijay in the tank 'Let us see who is successfull after 10 years, We will meet in the same place'. The aamir Khan character tries to convince him. But our Vijay challenges him 'Paakalam da, neeya naana nu, 10 varuchattu approm ithe naal santhippom'. We put intermission showing Vijay's anger in his face. Till here, Vijay was the last student in the class(we changed the story a bit). From now on, Vijay is the first student. The pondicherry student regrets.

Scene #6 : Saving Raju's Father

We introduce a new set of dialogues. Doctor says it is too late to save him. We introduces pokkiri scene here(Vijay again copies from his movie). He cut the doctor hands and says "Wait untill it is late, then you will be late". Doctor agrees to treat Raju's father. After all this, Vijay goes to Chief doctor men and speaks a one page dialogues about the medical emergency situation in India. There we introduce this dialogue "Intha naatla pizza correct time ku reach aahudu, aana ambulance,...".

Scene #7 : Raju urinating in Directors house

There, 6, 6 security gaurds of Director catches Vijay. We introduce a second fight. He finishes all the guards and escapes.

Scene #8 : Pia's Sister delivery

We remove all those Virus inverter, and all the stuffs. Vijay takes moni out of car and puts her in a tallu vandi. He takes her to hospital by pulling that tallu vandi in that stagnated water.

Just a comedy, notin else..,,

What’s in a name?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."

Gautham Menon is said to have applied for the title ’Kaaval’ meaning Police for his next film with Ajith. The project was earlier called ‘Thuparium Anand’ meaning Detective Anand. There was already a film titled ‘Kaaval’ in 1985. We are sure the imaginative Gautham Menon who has given poetic titles to his films like ‘Kakha Khaka’, Vetaiyaddu Vilayadu, Pachaikili Muthucharam and Vinaithandi Varuvaya can surely think of a new better original title.

But what’s in a title?

There’s a lot. Juliet’s interpretation of rose is in a different context. Ask Kamalhasan he will tell you a lot. The ordeal his ‘Sandiyar’ went through, only he can talk about it. Rajinikanth could not have his way for ‘Naan Gandhi Alla’ in 1984. SJ Suryah had a tough time after announcing a film called ‘BF’ by which he actually meant only Best Friend. Those titles were forcibly changed by forces that are to Virumandi, Naan Magaan Alla and Anbe Aaruyire respectively.

Many of Tamil film industry’s big and better brains in the new millennium doesn’t seem spent too much time to look for a new never-used-before title for their films. That’s what it seems. The rampant usage of yester years film titles prove this. But the same gang will rattle not only their brains and also their associates’ if there is a tax rebate for the title. Just as there is a tax rebate for pure Tamil titles, you can expect new original titles only if there is a tax rebate for new imaginative titles.

Is selecting an original title for a new film is that very difficult? In the early years of cinema some directors had not one but two titles for the same film. Kambar (a) Kalviyin Vetri, Aaraichi Mani (a) Manuneethi Cholan, Thasipenn (a) Jothimalar, Vedavathi (a) Seetha Jananam, Manimegalai (a) Bala Sanyasi are some film titles in the early days.

Later writers and poets who were put in-charge of the scripting departments in major production houses. So film titles were taken from either literature or related. They were very imaginative and most importantly suited to the story and theme. Aayiram Thalai Vaangiya Apoorva Chinthamani was the title of a film in 1947 which will not suit to any other film. Kalyana Panniyum Brhamachari was the title of a Sivaji Ganesan film in 1954. The director preferred the title to even if it wasn’t about the hero of the film.You will be amazed to know the following titles were for some hit films …

Read these names good-naturedly and understand them. Pasiyin Kodumai, Arumai Magal Abirami, Penn Kulathin Pon Vizhaku, Aasai Anna Arumai Thambi, Uzhavukkum Thozhilukkum Vandhanai Seivom, Manaalane Mangaiyin Bakiyam, Thaayaipola Pillai Noolai Pola Chelai, Mala Oru Mangala Vizhaku, Petraval Kanda Peru Vaazhvu, Neelavukku Neranja Manasu, Maniviye Manithanin Manikam, Mamiyar Mechiya Marumagal, Paanai Pidithaval Baagyasali, Thai Pirantal Vazhi Pirakkum, Maamiyarum Oru Veetu Marumagale, Mangaiyar Ullam Mangatha Selvam and Ontru Patal Undu Vazhvu are some of the Tamil film titles in the fifties. Today it may send shivers down the spine of directors if you ask for a similar title however best suitable it is for the story.

Those days even super stars who can dictate every aspect in their films left it to the directors and writers to name the film. In 1959 one of MGR’s films was titled ‘Thai Magalukku Kattiya Thali’. In the film a mother herself ties a thali (mangalsutra) on her daughter to keep villains at bay. Titles were very simple and to the point. In those days you will not find a film repeating an old title.

Another easy way the directors opted to name their films was to have the name or character or the profession of the protagonist as the title. That was very easy when mythological and historical movies were extensive. Aravalli, Manohara, Madurai Veeran, Thillana Mohananambal, Kaattu Rani, Thapalkaran Thangai, Porter Ponnusamy, Motor Sundaram Pillai, Pollicekaran Magal were some films with easy titles. This idea has many and many takers even today and will have many more even tomorrow.

Most of the recent films of super star Rajinikanth in the last fifteen years are of this genre only. Annamalai, Pandian, Veera, Basha, Muthu, Arunachalam, Padayappa, Baba and Sivaji are the only films of Rajinikanth in Tamil since 1994. Only his come back film Chandramukhi was named after the female protagonist. But again he got back with Sivaji.

When the angry young man era began in the 70s, film titles spew fire and connoted negative thoughts. Savalukku Savaal, Thirudan, Thirudanukku Thirudan, Thappu Thalangal, Krodham, Pick Pocket some old titles. When actor Rajinikanth turned Super Star Rajinikanth he invariably opted for fiery titles. Kuppathu Raja, Billa, Pollathavan, Ranga, Pokkiri Raja, Payum Puli, Thanikattu Raja, Sivappu Sooriyan, Naan Potta Saval, Naan Sivappu Manithan are some of the Rajini titles. But these bully titles did not come in the way of those films becoming big hits.

Even off beat titles were interesting in those days. Mamvbazhathu Vandu, Padhai Marinal, Rusi Kanda Poonai are tiles of films which talked about the shady lives.

The greatest consolation even today is that Tamil film titles haven’t stooped to such ridiculous levels as Telugu and Hindi films did.

And was there any body in the industry ever to scorn at demeaning or negative titles for films? Yes. There was one man. And he was a one man industry. Who’s that?

When thinking of positive film titles nothing on earth can beat MGR films. Nallavan Vazhvan, Thai Sollai Thattathey, Dharman Thalai Kakum, Neethikuppin Pasam, Nalai Namathey, Ninaithathai Mudippavan, Indru Pol Endrum Vazhga, Oorukku Uzhaipavan, Nalla Neram, Sirithu Vazha Vendum, Urimaikural, Uzhaikum Karangal and Nallathai Nadu Ketkum are some of the most positive titles for a cinema ever.Now a day naming a film depends on everything except the story most of the times. Well most of the times. Mostly a director names his film either to suit the hero’s image or fancy enough to make news.

Director Perarasu has a fascination for names of places as titles of his films. It started in Thirupachi then Sivakasi. Tirupathi, Dharmapuri, Pazhani, Thiruvanamalai and continues with the on going Thiruthani. Probably Perarasu will be one director who will never go short of titles for the next 100 years if he wants. Director Shankar is another who has a fascination for either English words ending in 's' or Tamil ending in ‘N’. From Gentleman to Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans, Mudhalvan, Boys, Anniyan to Sivaji: The Boss and Endhiran: Robots all Shankar films has that.

Some initially announce a controversial title and then after gaining enough publicity they will change to a normal title. Recently a Sunder. C film was first named ‘Porukki’ and after much noise it was changed to ‘Sanda’. Some time before a ‘Jayam’ Ravi film was named ‘Rascal’ and then changed to ‘Daas’. Some times even a very apt title is changed by the directors for reasons best known only to them. When ‘Silandhi’ was changed to ‘Pachakili Muthucharam’ all thought it was for the better. But after seeing the movie everyone voted for ‘Silandhi’.

Another easy way to find a title without straining too much is take a popular line of a popular song. Tamil cinema has innumerable titles like that.Sometimes directors or producers prefer a title which may generate a lot of attention even before their release.

Of that some have been very stupid and some others have been soothing. It’s definitely looked amusing when Mansoor Ali Khan titled a movie Rajadhi Raja Raja Kulothunga Raja Marthanda Raja Gambeera Karthavaraya Krishna Kamarajan in 1993. Yes. It is the name of a single movie. But long titles for aesthetically made movies like Michael Madana Kamarajan in 1990 or Hey Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke in 2002 have our hearts with them. Also there was one so… so… films named ‘Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu’ and ‘Kizhaku Kadarkarai Salai’. So faaaaar.

Some titles are so literary will make you think. Nizhal Nijamakirathu, Mullum Malarum, Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal, Oru Naaadigai Nadagam Parkiral, Agraharathil Kazhuthai, Gokulathil Seethai, Megathukkum Thagamundu. Thoorathu Idi Mulakkam, Theerpugal Thiruthapadalam , Mouna Geethangal, Oru Kai Osai, Saatai Illatha Pambaram are some titles which will tell the directors’ command and understanding over the script and the language.

But rather a strange trend in recent years over finding a good attractive title for films takes the sheen away from the talent of the directors is to be pondered over. What matters most? The story or something else while christening film?

Today a film title is decided by most directors for the tax benefits. The Tamil Nadu Government Order 72 passed on July 22, 2006 which exempted entertainment tax for films with pure Tamil titles, has made many directors to question their own decisions. But they are happy to be flexible only for the sake of it.

What would you call Raja’s decision to change the title of his film which started as ‘Something Something’ to ‘Unakkum Enakkum’. What was the idea of Thirumurugan when he changed his film from ‘Emdon Magan’ to ‘Em Magan’. Ajith’s Godfather became Varalaru. Jeeva’s Tamil M.A. became Katrathu Tamizh. Wouldn’t these directors have thought the previous titles the most appropriate ones for their films when they started? What would be their argument to changing a title they thought most suitable?

One legend has it that to decide on the title for ‘Neethikku Thalai Vanangu’, MGR constituted a team of learned men and they discussed for a week and finally arrived at the title. So important was a title for him. This may sound too much for the present generation. But the message is the need of today.

Swami Paramhansa Nityanand: The founder of the Nityanand mission, which claims to have 1,000 branches across 33 countries, has been untraceable since certain Tamil TV channels recently aired a video which allegedly shows him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress. Nityanand, who has ashrams in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Puducherry, hails from Tamil Nadu and has a sprawling ashram in Bidadi, 30 km from Bangalore. He claims to lead a worldwide movement for meditation and peace. Lenin Karuppan, a former disciple, has said that he shot the video to expose the swami. Lenin has alleged that his life has been under threat from the swami, adding that he also suspected foul play behind the death of a woman inmate a year ago. In the complaint filed with Chennai City Police Commissioner T Rajendran, Lenin, who claimed to be an inmate of the ashram in Bangalore since 2006, said the swami used to lure young women devotees claiming that he was the reincarnation of Lord Krishna.

Anup Kumar Sahay: A self-proclaimed godman in Ghaziabad, he was booked on Sunday for abducting his cousin. According to a complaint filed by Subha Srivastava, mother of the victim, the accused along with his brother Ashok Kumar Sahay abducted her daughter Priyanka Srivastava on Feb 15. The self-proclaimed godman has been booked under sections 363, 313 and 366 of the IPC which pertain to kidnapping and forcing a woman to undergo abortion without her will.

Kripaluji Maharaj: Ram Kripal Tripathi aka Kripaluji Maharaj, at whose ashram near Pratapgarh in UP 63 people died in a stampede last week, was charged with kidnapping and rape in two cases in Nagpur in 1991. He was acquitted after the witnesses turned hostile. He was arrested in 2007 after a Guyanese woman in South Trinidad filed a rape case against him.

Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot Wale: Shiv Murti Dwivedi alias Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot Wale (39), a self-styled godman, was arrested by the Delhi Police last month on charges of operating a high-profile sex racket involving former airhostesses and students.

Asaram Bapu: Two minor boys of the Asaram Ashram-run gurukul in Ahmedabad were found dead in the Sabarmati riverbed two days after they mysteriously went missing from the gurukul in February 2008. The police booked Asaram Bapu in a criminal case pertaining to attempt to murder last year in December on the basis of a complaint filed by Raju Chandak, a former disciple of Asaram. Chandak was shot at by two persons on December 5 and he sustained injuries on his chest and shoulders. Chandak alleged that he was targeted at the behest of Asaram, as he had testified before the D K Trivedi Commission probing into the death of the two boys.

Jayendra Saraswati: The influential Kanchi math Shankaracharya was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police in Mehboobnagar in Andhra Pradesh in November 2004 in connection with the murder of a former accountant of the math.

Santosh Madhavan: The temple priest-turned- astrologer wanted by the Interpol was arrested in Alappuzha in May 2008. Apart from a Rs 50 lakh fraud case that has a Dubai-based businesswoman as the complainant, Madhavan, who had turned himself into Swami Amritachaitanya presiding over a posh ashram and flaunting high connections in the state's political circle and the bureaucracy, was also charged with raping a 15-year-old girl repeatedly.

Premananda: Also known as Trichy Sai Baba, he was awarded life imprisonment in 1994 for two terms on the charges of multiple criminal offences including rape and murder. Premananda, who reportedly had powerful supporters in the AIADMK, had not only raped many of the inmates of his ashram at Trichy but also carried out crude medical terminations of some of the consequent pregnancies with the help of a couple of associates. He was also charged with the murder of an engineer who handed nefarious activities at ashram

Hi folks., Lemme share my placement experience - A sorrow story with happy end..,

When it Started

I was topper in school from my 6th grade. But I know I cant retain the same in college., I know there are many people who got better marks than me..., And so showed my rank in first semester.., 11th (now it is 27th, that is different). As I was admitted to hostel for the first time., I found it so bored.., all my school friends were allotted different room in first year... And in my room too, all my room mates will reach hostel after 7.p.m. (Donno where the hell they go). I was so bored., so I used to study basics of JavaScript, C, Cpp, Graphics in C.,

I dont know I could make a good programmer till the code valiantz in my second semester.., Yes I came first and I realized the hidden talent in me..,The speeches from Vinod(MS) and kowshik(Y!) added sometin to me and I also want to get like them...

The Preparation...

I studied C# for the first time in my 3rd semester to code in Topcoder. Then I found topCoder very interesting.., The third and fourth sem was very productive for me., I was a day scholar then.., Kumari bacame a day scholar., and Loki,me, kumari started solvin DS puzzles..., The way RV sir taught DS created a interest in me(probably in everyone). And in fourth semester Kriya boosted me.., Me and Kumari entered the final of the Code Pairing event... I am so excited that We were the only guys from third year in the finals.... I started realising in the 5th semester when kumari asked me a question...,

K : Ha ha ha..., U used to teach me in first sem and now You dont know what it means.., It was in primer., I studied 400 pages in it...,

That humiliated me so much.., Yes I taught kumari C.., Now he is teaching me..., he too humiliated me so much.., That hurted.., This ignited a fire.., I wanted to finish primer and get ahead of kumari in no.of pages read.., But I know that is painfull.., Primer is a 1300 pages book and a bit tough to read... In 5th semester, whenever I go to my room., I set a target of 30 - 40 pages in primer and I finished it., (some day 15 pages, someday 50 pages, but hardly there was a day in hostel where I didnt touched primer. I finished nearly 700 pages in 2.5 months.., I left the remaining for 6th sem.,

The days of april,may, june 09 was the one where I studied very seriously. We dont know if companies come or not..,And our usual placements (dates) were postponed. But I know somewhere deep that companies will come.., so I never gave up studing...,

Placement Experience

Suddenly, we got a message from sidhu..., First company on campus is Goldman Sachs and ppt is on sunday.., I am verymuch happy (because companies started)., I know that I cant make to GS (I donno why but I felt). That day, I called Sivabalan and gokul (The two seniors I had contact intially with phone nos). Sivaalan gave varun's number... I called varun and got the process of GS. And I studied deep C..,(that might be useful for all companies)., I didnt studied specifically for GS..,I finished deep C in 3 days.., I got bussssss in GS written.., They followed exactly the same process.., 18 shortlisted to interview., a GD without elimination..,

We got another company - NetApp in Wednesday...Senior told that it was a good company..., We came to know that in its ppt.., good package.., fortune 500's no.1 company to work for., As I completed written, I know that I could clear it.., I was so confident that I came in white-black for the written (interview shirt). I got shortlisted for interview..., I know that I could clear the interview if he didnt ask me from networks..., The first round was good.., I did it extremely well... Even my room mate informed his parents that I would get offer that day.., The worst thing happened., in second round... he screwed in networks.., And I was informed that " Madhan raj, Gowtham, Saranya,Vibhu shortlisted for next round.., Others., Sorry....".

Next company was commvault..., I attend the written.., I was 100% sure of clearin written as it was c++,C..But I dont know why I didnt shortlisted for Interview..., Loki got placed in commvault..., I was happy that one of my friend got there (he was first guy from g2 CSE to get offer).

Next was much awaited ThoughtWorks. Studied DBMS design fully. The thoughtworks selection was lengthy and back breaking..I know all about thoughtworks selection - their written pattern, and all., I was prepared... They came at around 11.30 Wednesday..., Written got over by 1.45..., They shortlisted 168 students for GD..., I took GD.., It was a paired GD., I was let down by my partner in GD.., But people attended GD in my team said that I will pass., and I cleared too..., And came the coding round.., My coding round started at 10.45 in night..., And I felt like I am entering into a topcoder coding competition. Once I seen the problem, I understood that they was looking for OOAD designing concepts in coding and not in the solution alone.., I finished the coding (I think probable I was 4 th person to finish) and the result came at 3.30 in morning., I expected to clear and 40 people selectd for interview including me...,
I lost thoughtworks because of my questionings.., I cleared the first round of interview and got to (second and final) round.., There I was asked question about
HashMap in C++.,. I told them veru boldly " I dont think there is Hash Map exists in C++". I was very bold in that having read the Primer completely.., It is also the correct answer., But as I finished the interview, I know that I could have told the answer a bit politely or could have told that I dont know. It was 12 midnight.., I know that mostly I wont make it because., many guys finished their HR., And as expected I cant make to TW. I was very disappointed that I hardly was myself for the next day.., Thanks to GV., he marked OD for me Friday.., I think kumerasan might have had the same feeling after his Microsoft interview...,

Next internals came., But I came to know that HP was the next company., I know from my seniors that knowing UNIX will make an advantage to HP.., I dont know a single shit in UNIX.., But I had a book - Sumithabha Das.., Instead of studying for internals, I finished that book in 5 days(long internals). And as expected, I got fail marks in two subjects - Web tech, DCA. But HP written is a back breaking one., There, we had a optional language section where we can choose - Java, C++, C., I chose C.,(should have chosen C++). I did all the questions well., but couldnt clear., I know why. I did all the questions the way they appear..,tough or easy.., So I understood that we have to complete the easy questions first then look to solve the tough ones., order dont matter.

Amazon..., You should be king of DS and Algo.., Luckily I know DS very well. One week, I studied all the algorithms.., There is a MIT lecture about algorithms.., I watched it fully and tried TopCoder problems based on that.., But I know, that to solve the algos quickly., is not possible everyday. When you feel fresh, the solutions will strike., or else u will travel in a wrong route to solve the algo., The amazon written day was not my day., felt too sleepy., And I know I cant make to interview after I finish the writtens..,

Ebay intern.., Cleared the written., I revised the Java for this.., Got a very good material for Java., First round was a bit sleepy., I felt., But I dominated the second round.., I know as soon as I finish second round that I will make it., Got internship.

Mean while., Finished the first round of Google intern. Dont want the results as I already have ebay intern.

Intel.., Second internal time.., Revised the microprocessors., done a few programs like 8086 addition, division, etc..., Felt good about Microprocessors.., But My resume didnt got shortlisted.., But I know that I upgraded my skill set which started from C, C++, Ds,OS to C, C++, DS, Unix, MP, Algo, Codi,DBMS,OS.

But I wanted to get a big company..,I wanted a big company..., thought was going on.,

Next Cisco.., Revised the Microprocessors., But written was electronics paper.., The CSE which dominated all the company written was not able to clear Cisco., Yes no single person cleared Cisco for first time in my placements.

Then DE Shaw.., I wont tell that something lighted up that day.., I felt sleepy in the morning., So I didnt took bath to attend the written., But I did the written very well., I know I could make to interview.., At that time I was at the peak of my skills having revised all the subjects.., C,C++,DS,OS,DBMS,MicroPro,Unix,Algo, Networks too. Good revision of networks in internals really helped., Networks syllabus is a vast one., I didnt concentrate on marks for networks internals but I tried to finish a concept fully., That really helped..,

I was informed that I was shortlisted for interview. I dont want to revise or do anything. Just surfed and chatted with seniors for few minutes., Had a good sleep., Went for interview 23rd - 6.30 P.m.., Cleared it..,

Now @ DE Shaw & Co., Hard Work never fails (OOPS!! Sometimes., as in the case of Kumari)..,

The Most Complicated Road in the World

1) Col de Turini, France:

Situated more than 1 mile above sea level, Col de Turini is a mountain pass situated in south of France in the Alps. It's also part of a 20 miles rally stage of the Monte Carlo Rally of WRC, which combines 34 challenging hairpins and long stretches where cars top 111 mph.

It is one of the most exciting roads on Earth. The pass was featured in the very first episode of Top Gear series 10, when the presenters went in search of the greatest driving road in the world. At its highest point, Col de Turini is 1607m high. In the north, the Col de Turini starts with a dazzling series of hairpins. Finally, we end up riding in a gorge, with a wild river on the left, and a steep rock-wall on the right.

2) Stelvio Pass, Italy:

Located in the Eastern Alps in Italy, the Stelvio Pass Road connects the Valtellina with Merano and the upper Adige valley. This mountain road pass is situated at an altitude of around 1.7 miles above sea level. The road is particularly challenging to drive due to the presence of 48 hairpin bends, with the road becoming exceedingly narrow at some points, and some very steep inclines. With a height of 2757 meters, it is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps and the second highest in the Alps, after the 2770 m high Col de lIseran. While it might not be as dangerous as the other routes, it is certainly breathtaking. The toughest and most spectacular drives are from the Prato side. The mountain pass is one of the best continuous hairpin routes in the world.

3) Leh Manali Highway, India:

The Leh-Manali Highway is situated in India and spans over a length of 297 miles among the Himalaya mountain range. It passes through some of the worlds highest mountain passes in the world, with a mean altitude in between 2 to 3 miles above sea level. The road is one of the most complicated and challenging roads in the world, with snow, landslides and terrain making the journey exceedingly difficult for anything other than a capable four wheel drive vehicle. The road was built and is maintained by the Indian Army.

4) The Puxi Viaduct, Shanghai:

This is one of Shanghai's busiest and largest interchange that caters to thousands of vehicles every hour. It has five levels of bridges that help connect two of the cities busiest highways, directing vehicles without much fuss.

5) The Judge Harry Pregerson Interchange, LA:

The Judge Harry Pregerson Interchange is situated in Los Angeles, CA and is one of the most complicated interchanges in the country. It permits entry and exit in all directions between the I-105 and the I-110. It's a stack interchange with layers of bridges making a complicated network of roads allowing smooth flow of traffic though both the interstate highways. This interchange was opened in 1993. It is a 4 level interchange with a restricted access lane that can be used by high-occupancy vehicles.

6) The Road of death, Bolivia:

The North Yungas Road (also known as the El Camino de la Muerte, Road of Death in Spanish) is a 43 mile road connecting La Paz and Coroico, 35 miles northeast of La Paz in Bolivia. Famous for its extreme danger, it was christened as the world most dangerous road in 1995 by the Inter-American Development Bank. The single-lane width, extreme drop offs, and lack of guardrails, only add to the danger lurking behind. Further, the fog and rain can make visibility poor and the road surface muddy, loosening rocks from the hillsides above. It is estimated that 200 to 300 travelers are killed per year on this treacherous road. Although, the old North Yungas Road is much less used by traffic nowadays, an increasing number of adventure bikers travel it for the thrills.

7) Russia's Lena Highway, the Highway from Hell:

The last 600 miles of the Russian Federal Highway from Moscow city to the Siberian city of Yakutsk is called the Lena Highway. This bizarre road runs parallel to the River Lena on the final leg to Yakutsk. As if the road of mud was not a big problem, Yakutsk is considered one of the the coldest cities on earth, with January temperatures averaging -45 Â°F. But surprisingly, it is only in the summertime that the road becomes impassable. Whenever it rains in summer, the road virtually becomes a slush pit making it impossible for the vehicles to pass through it. This being the only road to Yakutsk makes the traffic heavy and even more complicated to negotiate.

8. Gravelly Hill Interchange, Birmingham, UK:

Gravelly Hill Interchange, nicknamed the Spaghetti Junction, is the 6th junction of the M6 motorway, where it joins the A38 Aston Expressway in Birmingham, UK. The name Spaghetti Junction was coined by Roy Smith, a journalist from the Birmingham Evening Mail in the 1970s. The areal view of the junction sure tells us why it is called the Spaghetti Junction.

Spanning an impressive 30 acres, the junction serves 18 routes and includes 4 km of slip roads. Across 6 different levels, there are 559 concrete columns, reaching up to 24.4 m in height. The engineers had to elevate 13.5 miles of the motorway to accommodate 2 railway lines, 3 canals, and 2 rivers. It's the most complicated junction in United Kingdom.

9) Russian-Georgian Military Mountain Roads:

When they are not covered in sheets of snow, then it's the thick, grueling mud. These remote highways would probably swallow your car in the snow or mud. Though neither affect the locals who drive their Lada cars down it regularly. Situated in the Caucasus mountains, these roads are to be tackled only by the Russian military which probably explain why they lack any official designation. The harsh surface, along with the problems posed by snow, makes this road almost inaccessible during winter.

The seldom used road connects Russia and Georgia and assumes of strategic importance for both countries.

10) Guoliang Tunnel Road, China:

The magnificent tunnel road in the Taihang mountains was built by 13 local villagers headed by their chief, Shen Mingxin, and took around five years to finish. Many villagers lost their lives in accidents during construction of the tunnel but the others continued relentlessly. The tunnel was opened to traffic on May 1st, 1977. The 1200 meter long tunnel is about 5 meters high and 4 meters wide. It is located in the Henan Province of China. The Guoliang tunnel is another addition to most dangerous and complicated roads to travel. Dubbed as the road that does not tolerate any mistakes, most accidents in the tunnel are primarily caused by the neglect of the traveler. Nonetheless, it is an extremely scenic route and is a key destination on the Chinese tourism map.

11) Taroko Gorge Road in Taiwan (Chungheng):

The Taroko Gorge Road in Taiwan is another mountain route made by carving out rocks, like the Guoliang Tunnel road. The road passes through the Taroko national park alongside the Taroko Gorge. The road is an appeal to the tourist, as well as a mode of transportation of marble found abundantly in the Gorge.

12) Pasubio (Vicenza), Northern Italy:

This is a hiking trail made out of an ancient road trail. The road serves mostly for motorcycles and certain types of car. The road is dangerously narrow and slippery, spanning many cliff faces and tunnels with stunning scenery, making this a popular destination for adventurous travelers.

13) The Halsema Highway in the Philippines:

The Halsema Highway runs through the Central Cordillera Valley in Philippines. It is also called the Baguio-Bontoc Road. The road is approximately 150 miles long and is mostly unpaved. The road runs through steep cliff faces which barely have any guard rails or other safety devices installed. The narrow roads and steep cliff faces make the road almost impassable during the rainy season. It's known for the rock slides and mud slides and buses driving dangerously fast on its narrow passage. There are plenty of accidents and many overturned buses on a yearly basis. There are sheer drop offs of more than 1000 feet without a safety guard rail. This route is for sure one of the most dangerous roads in the world.

14) Trollstigen in Norway:

The Fjord in Norway has many roads that attract tourists. The most notable among them is the Trollstigen which is a series of stunning roads with a breathtaking view of a few waterfalls. The word Trollstigen means the Troll Ladder. The road, though not lacking in safety standards, takes a lot of concentration and driving skill to conquer. The vertigo-inducing steep inclines, intense set of hairpins and narrow roads leave no margin for error. However, once you are at the top, the view is just breathtaking. The narrow road leaves us with extremely few possibilities for vehicles to pass each other. The frequent rockfalls in the region have resulted in some upgrades to the road in 2005. At the top, there is a viewing balcony which overlooks the road and the Stigfossen waterfall, a 320 m long waterfall which falls down the mountain side.

15) Los Caracoles Pass in Andes:

This road passes though the Andreas Mountains on the way between Chile and Argentina. Los Caracoles is a series of hard switchbacks on an extremely steep incline. The road has many steep inclines and hairpins without any safety guard rails. The road is covered with snow for the most part of the year. The snow together with nature of the road requires extreme patience and skill to negotiate. However, this road is maintained pretty regularly and does not have a morbid accident record. Cargo trucks and even double-Decker tourist buses travel through the road on a daily basis, and it's quite an experience.

16) Iroha-zaka winding road, Japan:

Iroha-zaka winding road is the main route that connects central Nikko and Oku-Nikko. The First Iroha-zaka is used to come down, and the Second Iroha-zaka to go up. Each corner has an ancient Japanese alphabet, and you will see it in alphabetical order starting from I-ro-ha and hence the name. The road was used by ascetics in the past. The number of curves on the road was 48, matching the 48 letters of the ancient Japanese alphabet. Therefore, the tourist guides started to call the slope Iroha-zaka. After the construction of the second Iroha-zaka there were 50 curves, but 2 were decreased to remain corresponding with the 48 letters. How's that for complicated?

17) Van Zyls Pass, Namibia:

Van Zyls Pass, or the DR3703, located in Namibia, is a classic extreme road. It is not exactly a road, just a route made over the mountain by the travelers over time. The outrageously steep pass provides a pure adrenaline rush, but the route that leads up to it is a 10-15km of tough driving where one has to dodge their way through rocks, boulders, badlands and ravines. At the end, the road descends to the ancient glacial valley called Marienfluss valley, which is one of the planet's most beautiful sights that await only the brave-hearted.

18) El Espinazo Del diablo, Mexico:

El Espinazo Del diablo or The devils backbone is the mountain pass in Durango, Mexico. It's about 5 hours long, and it was the only road from Durango to Mazatlan Sinaloa for a long time. We have heard many cautionary tales about crossing the devils backbone, El Espinoza Del Diablo, But the road is exceptionally well maintained and there are many cautionary signs marking most of the hazards. Of course these are in Spanish, so keep an electronic translator or a dictionary, handy. Pull out spots are frequent, so you can easily stop anytime you want.
There are some tight curves, too. So tight that a truck needs all of the road to make it around. These hinder potential two way traffic in these regions. However, stunning rock formations rising around you and the lush, green vistas stretching on for impossible distances make every inch of the drive breathtaking.

In an interview with CBN's Scott Ross, Caviezel went to great depths to help people understand what it means to play the crucified Savior.

SCOTT ROSS: How old were you when you played in the film?
JIM CAVIEZEL: It is interesting. The day after I accepted the role, I got a phone call from Mel. He said, 'Hi, this is Mel.' 'Mel who?' For some reason, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise -- that's how I know them. I don't know them by just first name. He said, 'Hey, Jim, this is Mel.' He started talking about this movie and started talking me out of the role.

SCOTT ROSS: Talking you out of it? This is after he offered it to you?
JIM CAVIEZEL: The next day, he said, 'I want you to be aware of what you are going to go through. You may never work again.' He said that several times publicly. I told him, 'Mel, this is what I believe. We all have a cross to carry. I have to carry my own cross. If we don't carry our crosses, we are going to be crushed under the weight of it. So let's go and do it.' And we began with the film.

SCOTT ROSS: How old were you?
JIM CAVIEZEL: I told Mel, 'It is eerie. My initials are J.C. and I am 33 years old.' That was it.

SCOTT ROSS: What was your initial gut response to it?
JIM CAVIEZEL: I was half exhilarated and half terrified, honestly. I felt that the whole way through.

SCOTT ROSS: What did you bring to it, not just as an actor, but how do you prepare to play the Son of God?
JIM CAVIEZEL: It's a great question. How do you prepare? By fire. Looking back, there were two words, 'unquenchable fire.' What was hard was the physical, the suffering. Makeup time started from 2 a.m. and it went until 10 a.m. -- that alone right there, the boredom, not just the boredom, but the uncomfortable position. You're never sitting down. After day in and day out of this, plus the hypothermia, plus I had a separated shoulder, it forced me to pray. I had to go to a place of something really deep because I was going crazy.

SCOTT ROSS: You said you went into prayer. Is that something you believed anyway prior to the part? You are a believer?
JIM CAVIEZEL: Well, there's no question that I believe. I think many of your viewers know what I'm talking about. Why would you subject yourself to persecution unless you know that that's the truth? And let me tell you, I was on that cross. Many people who looked up there, I may be playing Christ, but a lot of times I felt like Satan. I had obscenities wanting to come out of me. It was so cold it was like knives coming through me. I had hypothermia. I don't know whether you've dealt with that, but on one day of hypothermia I was so cold I could barely get the lines out. My mouth was shaking uncontrollably. My arms and legs went numb. I was suffocating on that cross. In the mean time, you watch people have coffee and laugh. They were very indifferent about what I was going through.

SCOTT ROSSS: Was that true across the board with the cast or with the crew?
JIM CAVIEZEL: No, we had very sympathetic people. Like in all humanity, we had sympathetic people, and indifferent people, and people who were repelled by it. Watching that I wanted to burst out in my own humanity and tell this guy to shut up or take off.

SCOTT ROSS: Which was very opposite of what Jesus did in forgiving His enemies.
JIM CAVIEZEL: Then at that point what do you do? I'm a craftsman. I'm an actor. Where does this place? Where does he go? So I had to seriously get into a prayer, not from here [the mind], but from the heart.

SCOTT ROSS: The whipping and the scourging are hard to watch because that goes on for so long. I was literally counting the lashes. I watched people in the theatre in front of me, a small viewing theatre, turn their faces away because they couldn't continue to look.
JIM CAVIEZEL: You said something very critical there: People turn their eyes away when they see it, and what they're seeing is their own sin. It is not wanting to deal, at times, with their own sin. It's that hard to look at. But this film forces you to see yourself, not the way you want to see yourself, but as God sees you. There are no passive onlookers here.

SCOTT ROSS: What part of this had the greatest affect on you? Is it possible to isolate a moment or time?
JIM CAVIEZEL: Oh boy, I'll be honest with you, there are things that I went through that I can't even talk about. I felt like a great presence came within me at times when we were filming. This prayer that came from me was, 'I don't want people to see me. I just want them to see Jesus. And through that conversions will happen.' That's what I wanted more than anything, that people would have a visceral effect to finally make a decision whether to follow Him or not.

SCOTT ROSS: And that's the only choice; either you do or you don't. You're either for Me, or you're against Me.
JIM CAVIEZEL: Throughout this, when people put on Christ when they go outside, that is all nonbelievers see. And we're going to have people reject it, but there are others who make a living at being Christian. This is serious because they know the Body of Christ. They know what that is. And for them, it's even more serious. Many of our Jewish brothers are terrified. I have people come up to me and say, 'Jim,' -- they're Jewish -- 'some of the e-mails, have you read these things? This is frightening. I didn't kill Christ.' I say, 'No, the people standing before Christ and Pilate during the judgment scene do not condemn an entire race for the death of Christ anymore than the actions of Mussolini condemn all Italians, or the heinous crimes of Stalin condemn all Russians. We are all culpable in the death of Christ. My sins, your sins put Him on that cross.' I bring this up because it's very important to address. I want my Jewish brothers to see this film. I want people in my own faith who think it's anti-Semitic to see this film. I want non-religious people to see this film. This film does not play the blame game at all. We're all culpable in the death of Christ.

ns-2.33 on ubuntu 9.10

Since I have been working with ns2 for the last few months in preparation for my thesis I have decided to write a guide on how to install ns2.33 on ubuntu 9.10.

I have found many people already who have had difficulty setting it up so maybe this will be of some help to someone. For this tutorial I am assuming you have installed the most recent version of Ubuntu (9.10). (In Markets)

Step 1: Update Ubuntu

Since it has already been a month or so since Hardy Heron has been released its probably best, if you haven’t already done so to update Ubuntu. The easiest way I’ve found is to go to System>>Administration>>Update Manager. Alternatively, you can enter this into the terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Step 2: Download all of the required pieces to make ns2 work

Here is a list of archives required for ns2 to work properly (you can download them by clicking the links or just enter all of the commands in the code sections below for automatic download and untar). I saved each archive to the desktop so I could find each one easily but you could use anywhere you like.

Step 2.5: Install Ubuntu Packages

Before installing everything else, I have found that it is helpful to get a few packages from the ubuntu repositories or else it wont build correctly. Grab a cup of coffee it might take a while since kdebase-dev is somewhat large. I’m sure there is a way to do this with fewer packages however I know this works. If anyone figures out exactly which packages are required let me know so I can update this.

sudo apt-get install libx11-dev kdebase-dev

Step 3: Install tcl

Step 4: Install tk

Step 5: Install oTcl

Important Note: The ‘./configure –with-tcl=’ portion of the following two code fragments should point to the source files for tcl. If you have been following the guide by copying and pasting the previous commands what we have here will work just fine. Otherwise you will need to change this to point to the correct location of your tcl source files.

You will likely get alot of warnings for deprecated conversions. Just ignore these or if you really are concerned about them visit the nsnam troubleshooting page. If you want to make sure your version of ns-2 is working correctly after the install you can run the validation test from within the ns2 source directory. You can do this by entering:

./validate

You should see that the test output agrees with the reference output. Congratulations you have a working version of ns-2 installed.

Step 8: (optional) Install nam

cd ..

Note: if you get this error:

error: X11/Xmu/WinUtil.h: No such file or directory

it may be necesary to do this:

sudo apt-get install libxmu-dev

You are now ready to start working with ns2 and nam. If you are like me and working on a new protocol or something you will want to start modifying the ns-2 source code and recompile again so you might want to keep that folder handy. The rest of the source can be safely removed as far as i know. Keep in mind after you have modified the source you will want to do another make install so that when you type ns in your terminal the version you just compiled is used.

Getting Started with NS2

These are some quick tips to get you started using ns2 if you are a beginner.

All example files are located in ns/tcl/ex. You can run these scenarios on ns2 using ns filename.tcl The best way to start is probably changing things in these files until you understand what is happening more thoroughly.

The output will usually be a trace file with a similar name: ex) filename.tr. Trace files can usually be viewed with a text-editor program. There are also tools to analyze the trace files and pull stats from them. These may require some tweaking however depending on the format of the trace file. Additionally, a nam output file for visualization may be generated as well. This will usually be named filename.nam. To view the visualization use: nam filename.nam

First semester of my college., the teachers

Hi all., Here is a brief summary my first semester @ PSG Tech

1st Semester :

Obviously one of big point in life - the transformation from school to college. So we had subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, ED, etc. The semester and college life beginned with the orientation program. There our HOD was introducing our tutors and briefing about department. GRK mam our class tutor., and Visalakshi mam, G1 tutor., they split G1, G2 for administrative convinence., What an important day, but visalakshi mam showed her punctuality by not turning up(she was absent that day). There was a confusion between sharanyan and saranya while distributing time-tables (What adds is that both of them stood up)

The first day of class., Begins tuesday (not a lucky day according to some hindu myths), First class - Chemistry - Devi Ma'm. She talked in a very professional manner - "In school you used to call ur teachers as miss., here in college, you have to call Ma'm". I got the same feel when I went to Ideal school for my 12th. She was a very good ma'm., always teaching., It also happened that the first tutorial (class test) happened to be in chemistry. That day, everybody was studying and the atmosphere was electrifying., like a public exam (coz it is our first tutorial in college) and I could find every body going through their notes before 8.30 (even myself) sincerely infront of the class room., She was very sincere at the beginning., but as sem goes to end., she became linent., started telling stories., her first day @ psgtech,etc.

Then Physics - Senthil Kumar sir., Mostly his class will be after lunch. After taking heavy food if one listens to his lectures, there is 100% guarentee that they could sleep. His voice and the class in A-Block sort of create a dull and sleepy atmosphere., adding to that the lessons in physics - Laser, lottu losukku, hologram. He will do only two things., either talk about subjects or some other matters - (Seperate and mutually exclusive)., So we could expect a sleepy class or a interactive class., He is very friendly to students

Then comes the interesting Basics of Engineering - Mech, Civil, CSE (donno y te hell thy include CSE, any ways we r goin to do tat for 4 yrs). Mechanical engineering was handled by punitha rani., She was very well known for the jewels she wears., I donno those jewels always looks polished. She handled not BOE-Mech but BOE-boilers., she taught boilers the entire semester. One can't forget her dialogues - 'Thambi, wat is this'., 'Pappa, what is this'., This is not fair., pappa means child while thambi means ..., are we of her age group and girls are looking like children to her?, Any ways she is a nice teacher too., Kumerasan got 28 in final exam out of 30 where he took questions only for 18 marks.

Then BOE-Civil., one of few teachers to almost complete the syllabus., Her class falls in second period - she comes 5 minutes before and ate up our interval time. I dont know what was there in that syllabus which made me feel like I was studing two subjects., Believe it or not, IT department which was handled by our warden finished the same syllabus by just two words - 'bricks, cements'.

Then comes BOE-CSE., The class handled by Pujeri sir., He has a lot of work that he hardly showed up for the class., that too only to teach networks (which we will be studying on 7th sem)., His valuation is different., will award different marks for those who copies the assignments - PV got 'B' while Dharma got 'A'., Original copy PV.

Miscillaneous , Syed Ibrahim, he was Pujeri's substitute., He was very strict towards freshers., so to us. He once said about his lifetime ambition - Getting a job in PSG Tech., the ambition that started when he came for a conference @ PSG Tech in his M.Tech. He set a goal in his mind of becoming a lecturer in CSE dept of PSG Tech., He is very student friendly sir.,

About Madhumathi Mam, - C, she was very good ma'm, understands students. I could remember a instance where a guy asked for marks in internal. She asked why he didn't studied. He told he watched world cup match. What could be her reply...? "If India had won the match, then you have some use of seeing it., But it lost the match., U wasted your time". She awarded the marks though. This happened in second semester.,

ED Sir., One of great person (accordin to me and many)., He will make any person sleep., His favourite word is 'Imagine that'. Even the M.Tech guys who was to supervise us used to sleep. He has his own mannerism of teaching. Compare and contrast between ED faculties of both class., We will be given some 4 problems for 3 hours., And at the end of hour we get the word "Group 2 students., we will finish the problem in next class". Whereas the Group 1 students had 18 problems for 3 hours and will get the dialogue "Group 1 students, finish the problem and submit in next class". He is really great.,

Mathematics, Ashok kumar sir from Kanyakumari - have to mention this., He cant leave his slang even when he speaks english. I know that I got 5 marks in all the internals, the seminar topic., And that too I got 0. (Reserved for rest of cube 6).

Then our great ComSki - Menaka ma'm. That is where manoj got the name singham., The comski was marked by hatred speech of ARV., question of manoj posted to Sindhu in question session after speech "Why you took my topic?", elegance speeches from many like sharan, Hari babs, brinda, etc. She did all the things correctly except for the semester where many got 8(includin me), only one got 10 (guess who....) We awaits Comski, the only free period., those days.

That's all folks., the first sem., Let the rest of cube 6 post about other semesters.

The incident involving Nivi :

Nivedita is my class girl. 4 of my friends talkin abt her. They talk sometin like Nivedita is bubbly and all. Suddenly, the singham entered the talk., Let see what happened.,

Manoj : Dei, y r u guys thinkin she is bubbly da., She is a chapathi flattened face.,

Our singham roared so heavily that it was heard by Nivi. He told us that she scolded sometin in english., He is not at all tellin what she scolded...,

Then another incident with same girl,.. This one portrays manoj's courage.....

Usually, Manoj, myself, Loki study in a room for internals. Nivedita came with Sharanyan and she told to manoj that we guys wont have fun at all., Manoj's reply s out standin....

He steadily watched untill she leave the room and then asked us what she told (he know what she told about us). Then he got angry and shouted... appadiya da sonna ava... Then immediately he looked back to double confirm if she left the hall or does she heard his talk.....,

The incident with ARV, Brinda abt Ruchi :

But besides all these, he is truly a singham., In my class, it is usual to link a guy and a girl, In that way AR Vigneswaran and Ruchi r linked. After finishing workshop, everybody used to go to a cloak room to collect their bags, books, in a room as they are not allowed inside workshop. Vigneswaran got his bag and was waitin for sometin (or someone I dont know)

Our singham asked "y r u waitin ARV.? Shall I ask where ruchi went...?

ARV got angry and replied to manoj, "if u r who u r ask that ques to any girl in our class da"....

He suddenly asked Brinda ,

M : Where is Ruchi..?

B : I think she s in workshop

M : ARV, she is in work shop, so u can wait....?

B : ARV Congrats.,

ARV : ??????....?

Simply, manoj is different guy, a unique.... But I dont have patience to read his V-Blog, so I created one myself.,

It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn't love you were in. There are no exit signs in love, there is only an 'on' ramp.

I too, had a love in my heart. A love can be defined in any way. But to me, a love can be felt not only by heart but onto all the sensory organs of vision, smell, talk, skins even.

An year before at Kayan-kulam, I went to enjoy my Keralite holidays in my mother's relation's house. Its an village actually but there will full of grasses and dense tress. The full village will be clothed in a dense green dress. Sun-rise and sun-set will be in an awesome pitch there. Even Heaven will not tastes good than Kerala.

I stayed in a millitary residence, which was near sea-shore. There was a park in it. At night, the park will be filled by its relaxing employees there. Kids wandering helplessly with their friends. My Grandpa having a small peg, was also walking along with me in breeze and also talking about his pasts and achievements. I was quite bored on his pasts. I was in eager to visit the village and its people.

Next day, it was Sunday, My grandpa promised me to show the village that next day. I went to bed early to wake-up as early as possible and go to church. It was just 6'o clock. I was waken up with a big glass of tea of my Daarli Illayama. She gave me some money to put as an offering in church. Cool Breeze., Mists, everyone jogging there.

As usual I peeked for the girls in that village. There in KayanKulan, the girls were not so white but their skin will not so pale even. Their face will be like lightish skin of tingling deer. Their dense eyebrows for beautiful eyes like a dark black sun in a white cloud, orned ears, perfect sharp nose, lips are like a red-mirchy kept in parallel, their neck is filled with few gold ornaments, most of the girls worn half-sarees with red,rose,orange, blue on a contrasting colored blouse coveth their perfect spices on them were really awesome. I thanked my God for their carvings at right angle.., in pen-view I will say their body is like a petals of LOTUS [Thamarai Ithalgalal aana Valaivu].

I think in myself "If I found any christian girl, I will surely depart Kerala with that girl as my wife" due to religional ethics to my parents.

I went to church with my grandpa in a cycle. I rode it to some Anglical Church at morning. A nice cathedral near Amirthanadamayi's Ashram. I saw My Girl there near or next to me, some 5 feet distance. I went to church some what late. I saw a Girl, was sooo fair, her cheeks are like apples, rose-wine lips, engrossed her head with a white scarf, some curvy hair fell out of the scarf. She had worn a white chudi with blue spots in it, stood perfect in her position. I felt my heart bumps on a up-and-down Road. I have never felt this happening with any of girl, so far. Not even to any cute actress even.

My heart also alerts me that God is seeing me from above. But I consoled my heart "Let The God See Her and make Her as my wife". The Malayalam mass was started. I dint even knew anything. My Grandpa even not attend the mass instead was talking to his neighbour about their pension during the mass. In the church, everyone chanted with same praise.

At that time, I too, was seeing what my girl is doing, since I cant keep my eyes rid from her. She was chanting at the correct timing. I practised her lip movements. When everyone followed the Church's Father in chorus. My girl gave a smile to her friend showing her teeth in her dancing body. My prediction is that her age must be below 15 only. She might be studying. When the prayer starts, she closed her eye balls with the petals of her eye-lid. She is like Masakkali Girl - SONAM KAPOOR in Delhi-6 but still whiter than her and also very active and smart. Devoted eyes to God with an eyeball was raised above, during the prayer and showing a sad face in front of my God, I was in a degree-high. After the mass is over. Every one say Amen.

But... Me... I dont want to say Amen. I was standing still. I asked my Grandpa that I will be back after getting blessings from Church's Father. I moved towards the girl to see her clearly but some silence, fear stopped me. Heart Beats increasing, Sweats my body. I felt rise of my Blood Pressure. I hated myself and cried for myself. At once, I closed my eyes for not to see the world which made me ugly and make me to act dirty for a girl. I also had in my mind to see this girl only once. But, an uncontrollable fierce or anger and I have no hearts to see my girl with any boy. After all, of a sudden, A miracle happened, I heard something from my back. Still, I dint opened my eyes. At that time, voice increased and said something loudly "Some... Ishu Sthuthi... blah blah". I was still there. At that I opened my eyes, Father of Church is behind me. My Girl is towards me in her white scarf which left her original position.

I moved for the Father, and Father joke at me in Malayalam. My Grandpa accompanied with Father. At that time She Laughed... I dunno what the Father said But She Laughed at me. Now, my Girl knew whom her movements were admired for more than 30 minutes. I also see her and communicate my smile. Everyone behind me laughed. I smelt essence of samprani. I wanted to show my gratitude to that Father only even after he make me fun since she see me. My Grandpa instroduced me to my Girls' parents that I am student of PSG Tech, Coimbatore best institute, Software Engineering. That girl covered herself on her mum. Their parents also said that their wish to make their girl to undergo graduate in software. They are also some distant family-friend of my Grandpa. I enquired them which standard she is doing. They said she is doing her eleventh standard but quite mature.

A last time near pavement, My girl put her head-down like a beautiful bud on its stalk, is walking on her way from the Church, and I was opposite to her way , with as many as heart-beats in wishing her to see me, silence everywhere. At one time, we passed by, i saw there were none in our way except her friend nearby. It was just few steps to cross each other. A sight in a fraction of second, that eagerness in commiting herself to see her adorer. The moment in my life, simply awesome, my heart feels to be fulfilled, a chirping of bangles heard in my ears, a chill felt in my nerve-ending, i gazed on her smiling cheek, a low current sensation or feel of my bloodstream vibrates my brain-nerves, i made a high-breathe. I dont want myself to disturb that awesome feeling.

At moment, she turned towards me. In a shy, she coveth her face by unintentionally by talking to her friend to her next. I hide myself somewhere under the cathedral compound wall near my Cycle due to negative complexion arised in my heart but still I watched her. All of a sudden, it pierce my heart with biggest spade ever. I felt alone in my life for the first time.God!, when can I see her again and where. Is this feel is true? It all can be happen to me. Is I am with me. Is I am still in this world for her. After a long time now., I asked my Grandpa about that girl, but he said that She is doing B.A [English] now itseems and their parents were searching husband for her before her graduation. My first girl is gonna to marry. How my bloody heart will react I dunno! But I predicted before that this beautiful girl must have a boy-friend moore handsome in her school. But, I dont know why she searched me when i hid myself under the wall.

As I was thinking about this yesterday, I traversed back in time to the days of black and white ads. Advertisements ever remain a child's first favourite on TV. And most of the old day ads, by today's standards, would have been dissmissed as being too lousy but still they did strike a chord with the viewers/listeners.

One of the early ads making a good reach to the viewers was the old Horlicks ad. It was a bit long but a very normal one and that too in B&W with different people in all age groups, from all walks of life, talking a line about Horlicks. There was a sports person, a person dressed as Ravana, a granny saying "Enga ammavum adhe koduppa" and the last line where a kid with a spoon in hand remarks "Kudikka vendam, appadiye saapiduven". This punch line, even to this day, remains a widely remembered ad line. I think much later came the Ujaala ad. There were even jokes and "just a minute" series with the Ujaala slogan : "Neeyum Ujaalavukku maaritiyaa?".

The Nirma song was like the ads' anthem. Everyone could sing it and everyone had their own parodies - one of the most popular one being "Washing Powder Nirma, Adupula vegudhu kurma!". Needless to say that even then there were countless rumours about the ad models then - though they did not get much attention at the models of today. It is often said that the girl in a frock swirling to the tune of the Nirma ad song was actually the daughter of the person who owned Nirma and that it was in her name that he started the company and that she died soon after she featured in the ad. The same is attributed to "Liril" soap ad models. The ad, inspite of its popularity, was supposedly a jinx for the models. Whoever would figure on it would since be deceased. Well it was obviously untrue!

Of the local ads, Idhayam nallennai's gained much popularity because of its ad line "Idhellam pombalainga samachaaram, poi idhayam nallenai vaangittu vaanga-na vaangittu vaangalen" and it also helped actress Chithra (often dubbed as "Nallennai" Chithra) gain some level of prominence. "Excuse me, neenga endha college?"... "College-a? naan-a?" as the model finishes this line, a kid comes running towards her shouting "Mummy....". This ad (was it Santoor or Rexona?) was also a fodder for many many parodies and "Excuse me, neenga endha college" almost became an expression for people looking younger beyond their age!!

One of my favourites then was the "Gold Spot" ad, more so because Gold Spot was my only choice for cool drink during those days. For a while Gold Spot also had Archie Comic characters behind the bottle crowns. The ad song went something like this "She is crazy about hitting an ace as crazy as he is about........... as crazy as crazy as we are about Gold Spot, the Zing thing, Gold Spot". And then Rasna! All the little girls who featured in the ads were so cute (infact one of them was the heroine opposite Prashanth in the Tamil movie 'London'). Though Rasna had just Orange flavour initially, it introduced "Mango Ripe" and the new ad became my instant favourite ("Endha samayam endha naalum Rasna Mango Ripe naaley").

The "Sunrise" coffee ad with its elegant signature tune and the cute picturisation with Suchitra Krishnamurthy in it was an instant hit. I think the soft music and a simple video did the trick. The Amrutanjan ad's slogan which goes like "Gaayab, hoy to, Poye poche, poyindhe, Chalegoche, It's gone... menmaiyaana suhamaana vegamaana nivarani, Amrutanjan Pain Balm meedum thandhidumae... ungalin punnagaiyai!" is something people recon with even today. The AVT premium Tea with its "Kaeteengala, kaeteengala..." had the interesting "அஆபபபபாபா..." from Gautami (rather the voice that dubbed for her). We as kids then tried imitating that "அஆபபப்பாபா..." but with little success. None realised the male model in Leo Coffee would go on to become a popular hero - Arvind Swamy! Infact another ad of his - no, not the Cinthol ad - in which he goes to buy a Solidaire TV along with his on-screen wife Geetha. That was also a short and nice one. Speaking of Solidaire TV, I remember the old ad where a baby cries on watching a lion growling on TV, then the channel switches to cartoon and the baby is in all smiles. Finally the song end with a dance troupe dancing to the song "We want, we want true colours, we want we want clear sound, we know what we want, we want Solidaire... SO LI DA IRE...". Dynanora was another TV which also got lost down the line. Arun icecream also improved immensely on its video ads. They had a series of clippings showcasing all their flavours with the background song "I can see you... Arun icecream, I think I will lose my self-control... you make me lose, lose my self-control". It ends with a kid holding an ice candy stick and shivering with smiles - really cute!! In terms of visuals, "ரேகுல் சொட்டு நீளம்" made a similar mark; "சொட்டு நீளம் டோய் , ரேகுல் சொட்டு நீளம் டோய் ... என்ன வெண்மையோ... ஆஹா என்ன வெண்மையோ...". I think the ad received more popularity ever since it came to be known that the video was shot by ace cameraman P.C.Sreeram. This was followed later by another similar ad featuring Kushboo, who runs with a torch in hand and with the song "என்றும் மாறா வெண்மை இது, ரேகுல் வெண்மை மாறாது...".

"தலை வலி? ஜலதோஷம்? முக்கடைப்பு? ஆமா ப ஆமா..." was another famous ad line. Infact during late 80's there was a group which released a cassette called "சிரிப்போ சிரிப்பு" where they mocked almost everything which was popular then - DD, popular ads, Kripanandha Variyar, Senthil-Goundamani-Janakaraj combo and this ad also had featured in that.

I used to love the voices behind the radio ads, Radio being "கோவை வானொலி நிலையம் - விவித் பாரதியின் வர்த்தக ஒலிபரப்பு"! and had wildly imagined how the faces behind the voices would be. In all these years I could come across only one such person and that too on the Tuesday 7.30 pm DD drama. When he spoke his dialogue it immediately struck me that he was the voice behind the many ads on radio but no, it did not match the face which I had imagined ;-) I used to wonder then and even now if the time for ads overly surpassed the time alloted for songs on AIR! and I used to love the signature bell sound (ting tong) preceeding each ad. The typical radio ads with the bell sound would also remind me of my daily hussle-bussle mornings when I start to school. The "All India Radio" was always the morning background score at home - day after day! And who can forget the evergreen "கோபால் பல்பொடி"? ("வெண்ணிற பற்களுக்கு கோபால் பல்பொடி, தேசு பாருங்க கோபால் பல்பொடி, கேட்டு வாங்குங்க கோ பால் பல் போடி!!") Surprisingly they did not change the song even when it was shown on TV for a short while (ofcourse, I dont see it anymore on TV these days). Then came the Archana Sweets ad "இனிமே லேட்-எ வந்த அர்ச்சனா ஸ்வீட்ஸ் ஓட தான் வரணும்". That ad line was later changed when Archana opened a couple of branches in Madras. And another good old ad was the "ரோஜா பாக்கு" ad. I could just go on and on, then ofcourse the "stores" ads like Saravana Stores, "ரத்னா ச்டோறேஸ், சிவா காம்ப்ளெக்ஸ், போண்டி பஜார்", வசந்த் அண்ட் கோ., மணியம்மாள் டேச்தீஸ், சரடா ச்டோறேஸ் (எண்டிங் வித் "சென்னை-௨, திருச்சி-௨"). The other typical radio ads being "சந்து பாம் , சந்து பாம் வழிகளை நீக்கும் பலம்...", Kalyani covering, Nizam pakku.

In between, there also used to relay audio trailers for movies. Infact during nights, about one hour was allotted for such ads (under "விளம்பரதரர் வழங்கும் நிகழ்ச்சி"). That was a time when we could listen to new songs or atleast get a sample of it only thru' such forums. Doordarshan would not screen new songs. And we would eagerly have our ears glued to get jig-saw bits of the story, dialogues and songs. It would be interesting the way the "build-up" is generated in the ads with echoing effects, glaring sounds et al. And if one would stay awake (which generally doesnt happen because of restrictions at home owing to school the next day) so late to know about a film, it would his turn to brag about it the next day in the classroom.

I know many ads then did not have a catchy ad line, nor famous models or actors featuring in them, nor trendy sets or graphics but still they made an impact - for whatever reasons - and they still remain fresh - possibly because they did not have all those features which ads of today have and just humming old tunes of the ads or reciting ad lines would unfurl loads of memories - wouldn't they?
