Elegantie

Als ik Sylvie in één woord zou moeten beschrijven, dan zou het zijn: elegant. Deze prachtige mama van 2 schattige meisjes, ziet er geweldig uit.

In plaats van een boeket, koos Sylvie voor een bloemen corsage, en ze draagt een prachtig wit kort kleedje.

Sylvie & Yves kozen ervoor hun huwelijk klein te houden, en te genieten van het gezelschap van hun beste vrienden en familie, en natuurlijk hun 2 dochtertjes.

Na de ceremonie in het stadhuis en enkele familie foto’s, trekken we eropuit voor de reportage. Hoewel het redelijk fris is, zijn de foto’s prachtig.

Het moment dat de reportage erop zit, begin er kleine regendrupjes te vallen.

Sylvie & Yves, bedankt om me als jullie fotografe te hebben, ik heb genoten van elke minuut.

Ik wens jullie een leven vol geluk, en plezier samen met jullie kleine meiden.

Happy 2012

What a wonderful year 2011 has been! A year of learning, growing, loving, capturing love.

We met so many wonderful couples sealing there love for each other by saying I do, and asking us to make it an everlasting memory. We captured new life and new love.

We welcomed our second son in February, and feel truly blessed having two amazing boys.

In March we kicked off an amazing wedding season, it was busy, hectic, but it was also the best experience ever.

In April we went on a little family vacation with our two sons, 5 year old and 5 months old, it was a surprise how it would turn out to be travelling with a baby, but it was the best holiday ever.

In May we celebrated our own 7th wedding anniversary, time flies when you’re having fun, has it really been 7 years already? Our love for each other inspires us every day we are there to capture a wedding, several times we were moved to tears being part of the most emotional ceremonies.

In June our oldest son graduated from kindergarten.

July was by far our busiest month with 14 weddings on the calendar, but also a very inspirational month.

August, well August was wet… But fortunately, on friday and saturday the weather was good enough to shoot our couples outside. And the third weekend of August was hot!

September continued in this weather, it went above 30°, our grooms, well, they were happy to take of their jackets at night Our little man started first grade and soon started reading and writing words, while we lived through another one of our busiest months with lots of weddings to be captured.

Even in October the weddings continued. We photographed, and slowly new plans for this year started to grow in our heads and in our hearts.

November was a constructive month, as we started a ( very needed ) renovation of our studio. Our oldest son blew out 6 candles, and our youngest one became a little rascal

And then December came, we closed off the wedding season on December 10th, with two amazing weddings. The studio slowly started to look like we had in mind, and we ended the year with lots of quality-family-time

For this year we got plenty of new things coming up in our business life, and we look forward to spending lots of time with family and friends in our personal life.

Most of all we already would like to thank all of you for the trust you put in us capturing your wedding day. We look forward to all the amazing moments still to come (and capture).

It has already been a year since we were at the wedding of Sevda and Turgay on Christmas Day in Amsterdam (happy first wedding anniversary)! This year we decided to stay home for Christmas to celebrate with friends and family… We would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas!

Workshop Mike Larson Den Haag

A few weeks ago, we attended a workshop with Mister Mike Larson himself. For those of you who don’t know him: he’s one of the most amazing wedding photographers.

Besides having learned a lot, we also met some great people.

Anouschka and Raymond, who organized the event, and are also great photographers and the sweetest couple ever, arranged for some great settings for us to photograph.

Besides a yummie( as in finger-licking-good) dessert table (that we did get to eat afterwards, at least the dessert we ate, not the table ), there was also a styled dinner table. Lots of credit to Brigitte from MarryWise and Giada from Don Florito. They created a beautiful, colorful and stylish setup, really stunning!

We advise all our lovely couples that are getting married in 2012 to get in touch with them, they give your wedding day that little extra that makes it just perfect Just check out their pictures and you’ll be convinced.

We had so much fun and learned so much and are so grateful to have met such wonderful people, Lesley (to all the ladies out there, this girl makes THE most amazing boudoir pictures) and Jennifer, and of course all the other great people we met.

And most of all thank you Mike for filling our heads with ideas, filling our hearts with even more passion about what we do, and for sharing your knowledge. We’ll meet again soon!

Leen + Kristoff

Leen and Kristoff are by far the cutest couple I ever captured, last June they already had a chance to get comfortable with the camera ( and me ) when we went to Vlassenbroek for their engagement session. It hit me then already, these two are made for each other

I meet Leen in the morning at her parents house, funny detail, my hubby and co-photographer, who shot a wedding in Hamme the day before, already had the pleasure to meet with Leen’s father who happens to be the mayor

According to me, Leen already is stunning being her natural, beautiful self, but boy, the moment she put on her dress and jewels and 3 meter (!!!) long veil, she became even more stunning! She truly is an exceptional beauty!

Kristoff is the lucky man who gets to spend the rest of his life with her

And it must be said, he looked very hansom himself as well!

The church doors could hardly be closed by the amount of people that showed up to witness Leen and Kristoff exchanging their vows, it’s obvious, they are very loved and have a place in many hearts.

After a minor incident when lighting the wedding candle ( hot wax and a wedding gown are not to be combined ) and exchanging rings, the couple awaits a few more surprises outside the church doors. Leen is a kindergarten teacher and gets welcomed by all her little ones, so cute! Kristoff coaches a basketball team and also his team is there to welcome the newly weds.

At the party it shows once more who loved they are, several groups of friends organized surprises for them, a cute little rabbit being one of them

After a long but satisfying day, an amazing party and the sweetest first dance, I let the couple enjoy their party with their friends and family.

I had an amazing time with the two of you, I felt blessed being a part of your love – twice this year – and am looking forward to more!

Het is de ochtend na een vreselijk onweer, op een kwartier tijd heerste er complete chaos. Wanneer ik richting Oud-Heverlee rijd op vrijdagmorgen, zijn de overblijfselen nog overal aanwezig. De straten liggen bezaaid met takken, bladen en zelfs bomen…

Maar na alle regen komt zonneschijn en in de loop van de dag overwint een warme zonnestraal en een prachtige blauwe hemel.

Leen is één van de meest vrolijke en spontane bruidjes die ik heb ontmoet, en de dag is dan ook gevuld met veel gelach en plezier.

Leen is ook een originele bruid, die haar persoonlijkheid boven traditie stelt (I LOVE IT) en voor een korte bruidsjurk kiest. En het mag gezegd, de jurk staat haar geweldig!

In afwachting van de bruidegom, heerst er al een gezellig sfeer wanneer ouders, schoonouders, vrienden en familie ongeduldig wachten op het moment wanneer de bruidegom zijn bruid voor het eerst zal zien, en zij er getuige van mogen zijn. Joeri is duidelijk tevreden met zijn bruid, want hij is even compleet het noorden kwijt, Leen, you swept him off his feet

Aan het einde van een overheerlijke lunch arriveert de bruidswagen, een prachtige Buick uit ’58, en ja het is gebeurd: I’M IN LOVE! Toen ik trouwde met een man in de ban van ‘Classic cars’, kreeg ik daar de liefde voor oldtimers helemaal gratis bij En hoewel ik mezelf meer met een sportieve Mustang zie cruisen, vind ik het geweldig hoe er nagedacht is over elk stukje om van deze classics een pronkstuk te maken.

Ik ben duidelijk niet de enige die dat vindt, want we komen bijna te laat aan in het gemeentehuis omdat iedereen zeker eerst nog eens op de foto wou met, in of naast de auto My favourite was ‘the old lady with the old car’ Maar ‘the old lady’ zoals ze zichzelf noemt, is een hele fiere en levenslustige dame, die ‘s avonds op de dansvloer niet moest onderdoen voor de jongere garde

Af en toe moet een fotograaf zijn angsten overwinnen, zoals hoogtevrees, dus wanneer me vriendelijk werd aangeboden om even mee in een hoogtewerker te stappen om een foto te maken, overwon de fotograaf in me, anything for a good shot

Voor de reportage trokken we Leuven in met als resultaat een speelse, spontane en vooral heel leuke shoot. Op weg naar de feestzaal stoppen we nog even voor enkele leuke foto’s met de Buick, natuurlijk!

Ook de mensen van de feestzaal hebben hun deel gehad van het onweer, maar wanneer wij arriveren is daar niets meer van te merken.

Het resultaat is een geweldig feest met alles erop en eraan, met dank aan de mensen van de Beekhoeve, die echt geweldig zijn!

Na een korte speech van beide getuigen, zetten Leen en Joeri het dansfeest in. En ‘the old lady’, die danst mee

Leen en Joeri, jullie zijn echt een geweldig team, jullie vrolijkheid is aanstekelijk! Bedankt voor een leuke dag vol plezier, en heel veel en heel lekker eten

Wedding Photographers meeting in Antwerp

On Monday we met up with a group of 10 (wedding) photographers, all people like us: young , talented, ambitious, creative… All working in the same style and yet still totally different.

The intention of the meeting was getting to know each other a little bit better over a nice dinner and a glass of wine (or something else ) Few of us know each other already a long time, others we’ve never met before, some we mailed with. It’s fun to have met them all in person now.

In our business it’s good to have some colleagues to forward some work too, ( we hate to let people down when we are booked on the same day they wanna book us) or to have them as a back-up when needed.

It was also nice to exchange ideas and tips and tricks. It was an evening filled with fun and yummy food, nice conversations, lots of talking bout the one thing we all have in common: our love to capture people, our love for all of you lovely couples out there that share their most important day with us.

We all said to meet up again soon and we are already looking forward to it!

Thanks to all of you guys for being there, leentje, joshua, nele, kristien, ruth, jorick, sepp, and nicky! See you soon!

Erika + Christophe

Soms is het moeilijk een blogpostje te schrijven, gewoon, omdat er zoveel te zeggen is over een dag, hoe giet je dat in enkele zinnen?

Laat me beginnen met te zeggen dat Erika echt een prachtige bruid was, stijlvol en elegant, gracieus… En dat Christophe ook al die dingen dacht toen hij haar die ochtend voor de eerste keer zag. Omringd door hun familie en beste vrienden en, het mag gezegd, de coolste ceremoniemeester die ik ooit al ontmoet heb

Na een hele zomer van slecht weer zijn de weergoden ons vandaag gunstig gezind, en op de gepaste momenten schijnt er een stralende zon. De avondreceptie kan zelfs buiten plaatsvinden, wat een verademing na de afgelopen grijze weken.

Op het avondfeest heeft de familie nog een verrassing in petto, in de vorm van een fantastische zanger die de sfeer er onmiddellijk inbrengt.
Erika en Christophe, wij vonden het fantastisch een deel te mogen uitmaken van jullie dag, we hebben er met volle teugen van genoten!

Esther + Bayo

When I met Bayo and Esther for the first time, a few months ago, I knew immediately: these two are in LOVE. Little did I know they also share another love… Their love for music. When Esther was rehearsing in her room, it really gave me goosebumps.

Esther and Bayo found a beautiful venue in the Ardennes. The Château de Halloy was one of the main residences of the Princes Bishops of Liège in the 12th and 13th centuries. The beautiful clothing Bayo’s family and Esther were wearing, were designed by one of the family members, and added lots of colour to the castle that day. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with music and love. Esther managed to keep one secret from Bayo though. She secretly got another dress made in Bayo’s tribe colours and prints… You should have seen his eyes as she walked down the stairs wearing her ‘evening’ dress… Esther and Bayo, I really had a great time with you guys, it was throughly an honor being able to be part of your big day, and your commitment to God…

Steven + Ellen

Na 13 jaar samen stappen vandaag Ellen en Steven in het huwelijksbootje. Ellen is een prachtige bruid, de hele dag door hoor ik mensen zeggen hoe Ellen straalt. En ze hebben gelijk!

Ook Steven kan zijn bewondering niet verbergen wanneer hij zijn Ellen die ochtend ontmoet. Steven zelf mag er ook best wezen, hij ging -tegen alle tradities in- voor een grijs kostuum. They make a perfect match!

Voor de burgerlijke plechtigheid en de huwelijksceremonie trekken we naar Laarne. Ellen’s collega’s en leerlingen zijn talrijk aanwezig en geven de ceremonie een persoonlijke toets.

Daarna trekken we naar het Kasteel van Laarne voor de reportage. Een historisch decor waarin Ellen en Steven volledig passen.

Intussen is het tijd om richting feestzaal Tybeert te vertrekken waar de eerste gasten ons al opwachten.

Na een uitgebreide receptie en enkele familiefoto’s is het voor mij tijd om te vertrekken.

Ellen en Steven, jullie zijn duidelijk voor elkaar gemaakt, dat hebben die 13 jaar reeds bewezen, maar zelfs zoveel jaren later stralen jullie nog steeds samen! Bedankt dat ik jullie liefde van zo dichtbij mocht meemaken en vastleggen.

Ik kijk al uit naar een vervolg
