Resource Monitor in Windows 7 and 8

As a Windows user, knowing how to maintain the operating system’s problems is a big advantage. When your system crashes, unexpected shutdowns or an application stops responding, what would be your steps to find the source of the problem? Fortunately Microsoft provided some great tools for keeping track of your system performance and health in the Windows 7 and 8. I have written some articles about these tools before such as "How to use WindowsEvent viewer", "Windows Performance Monitor" and "Performance Monitor SystemHealth Report". Today I intend to introduce another tool in the Windows 7 or 8 that you can use to find information about your system resources (hardware and software) in real time. This system tool is called "Windows Resource Monitor". By using the Windows Resource Monitor, you are able to monitor specific service or process, troubleshoot a hung program, and even start, stop and resume a service. Let see how to work with Resource Monitor:

First of all to open the Windows Resource Monitor go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Resource Monitor.

Or type "resmon" in the Run dialog box and hit the Enter key. To make Resource Monitor available in the Windows 8’s Start screen, from the Charm bar (Win + C) go to the Settings>Tiles>Show Administrative Tools.

When the Resource Monitor opened, you’ll see a window like the figure below. Resource Monitor contains 5 tabs: Overview, CPU, Memory, Disk and Network. On the Overview tab you can check the basic system resource usage information and the other four tabs as their name suggested, display the information about CPU, Memory, Disk and Network usage information.

Tables and Chart Panes

Each tab on the Resource Monitor window contains multiple tables showing the detailed information about the featured resource. For example the Overview tab includes CPU, Disk, Network and Memory tables. To expand and collapse any table, just click on the arrow icon on the right side of the title. Each table contains some columns (like Description and Status). To hide and add any column to a specific table, right-click on the column title and choose Hide column or Select column then add a new column from the list. To know more about each column, simply hover the mouse on the column’s label to see more information.

Microsoft also has provided Chart Panes for each tab on the right side of the window. These charts display graphical information about the current tab’s resources. To change the size of the graphs, click on the View button and then select your desired size. You can also hide the Chart Pane by clicking on the arrow icon at the top.

If you have more than one processor, to see graphs about specific processor, when the CPU tab is opened, from the menu select Monitor and then Select Processors.

Now that you are familiar with the layout of the Resource Monitor window, let see how we can use this tool to identify Resource Consumers.

Before I start I should tell you how to start/stop and filter the data. To pause the monitoring of current data, from the menu go to Monitor>Stop Monitoring. To resume the Monitoring again you can select Start Monitoring with the same menu.

For filtering the detailed data in a table, select one or more processes or services in the key table (the top most tables in each tab). To undo the filtering, clear the check box or boxes. To clear all check boxes together, clear the check box next to the image. When you filter the result, tables other than the key table will only show information about the selected service. Filtered results can be recognized by an orange bar below the title bar of any table. For example currently in my system the Firefox and Photoshop are opened and I want the see the detailed information about these two applications. I have selected them for the filtering results. Check the figure below:

Find the process with the maximum CPU usage

Go the CPU tab and on the Processes table, click on the CPU column label. The first process in the list is the process/service with highest current CPU usage.

Find addresses of connected processes to the network

Go to the Network tab and select the process that you want to identify its network connection. Expand the TCP Connections table and then check the Remote Address and Remote Port columns to see the addresses and ports that the process/s connected to.

Find the available space on storage devices

Go to the Disk tab and expand the Storage table. Here you can check the Total Space and Available Space (in MB) of your system physical disk.

Find the available memory space for the programs

Go to the Memory tab and view the available memory (in MB) for the programs in the Physical Memory table. This amount is the total of standby and free memory together (include zero page memory).

Control processes and services

To end a process in the key table (the top most tables) of any tab, in the Image column (the first column from the right), you have to right-click on the name of the process and then select End Process.

To suspend a process, again in any key table, right-click on the process name and then select Suspend Process.

To resume a suspended process, in any key table, right-clickon the process name and then select Resume Process.

To start, stop and restart a service, go to the CPU tab, expand the Services table and then right-click on the Name of the service/s. From the menu, select Stop Service, Start Service or Restart Service.

How to analyze a process and troubleshoot unresponsive programs

The hung or unresponsive programs will appear as red sings or entry in the Overview tab and in the CPU table. Also you can find them in the Processes table of the CPU tab. The cause of an unresponsive application can be due to unavailability of system resources. It means the application must wait till other process to be finished before they can continue. Windows Resource Monitor allows you to Analyze Wait Chain of a process. After the processes that prevent your desired program to respond, you can terminate them by ending the processes.

Go to the key table on any tab and then right-click on the process name. From the menu select Analyze Wait Chain. If the process is not waiting for any other process to finish and working normally, then nothing will be displayed. Otherwise a wait chain tree will be displayed that of the tree you can choose one or more processes by selecting the check boxes next to each process and then End process.

View Handles and Modules

Before I started with how to use the Resource Monitor to see which handles and modules are associated with a process, you should know what a handle is and what is a module?

A handle is a pointer (memory location) for referring to a particular system resource like files, registry keys or directories. In the Windows operating system, an application cannot directly access system resources and it must use a handle that has ability to change the system resources. A handle has an entry that contains the locations (addresses) of the system resources.

A module is a helper file or program (block of codes or instructions) that includes dynamic link library (DLL) files. A DLL is a combination of programs that needed for executing an EXE file.

To find all handles and modules used by a running process or program, go to the CPU tab and select the process that you want to see its associated handles and modules. Expand the Associated Handles and Associated Modules tables and review the results.

To see a specific handle currently is using by which processes or programs, in the title bar of the Associated Handles table, select the search box and enter the name of the handle. Then click the search button.

Install Duke Nukem 3D using EDuke32 Engine

Step 1

You can use the share version of the game that you just installed with DOSBox and play (I’ll show at the end of this article how to do it) but EDuke32 project offers you an engine to play the game with high quality graphic, texture and sound. So first of all download EDuke32 engine from the link below:

Step 2

Install Duke Nukem 3D share version on your system. If you have a legal copy of the original game, then you can use that one instead of the share version. To install the game you can use the DOSBox platform, go to the end of this post to see how. Extract the EDuke32 zip file on your system like in drive C:\, open the DUKE3D installation folder and copy the DUKE3D.GRP and DUKE.RTS. Go back to the EDuke32 directory and paste these files in the same path.

I’ve already extracted these two files from my own share version that if you like you can download from the link below and copy them in the EDuke32 directory.

Step 3

Till now we have successfully installed the Duke Nukem 3D on our system but we haven’t included the High Resolution Pack yet. To try the game, double-click on the eduke32.exe file to open the launcher. In the EDuke32 window, select your desired resolution, tick the Fullscreen option and click on the Start button.

To add the High Resolution Pack to our engine and play the game with good graphic quality, download the HRP zip file from the link below:

Step 5

Create a new directory inside the eduke32_latest folder and rename it to "autoload" and place the HRP zip file in this directory. Do not extract the zip file, just leave as it is. The EDuke32 engine will load the pack itself when you start the game.

Step 6

Go back to the root directory and launch the game. In the launcher window, select your desired resolution, Fullscreen, Polymer and Enable "autoload" folder. Again start the game.

Step 7

According to your own system graphic chipset or card, you can change the game graphic settings. For this go to Options>Video setup and try to play with different options. Some options that you can change are Render, Texture filter, VSync, Hires Textures etc. Then play the game and enjoy. You can use other packs provided by 3D realm website, like the Sound Pack. The only thing you need to do is to place them in the autoload directory and the EDuke32 engine loads them automatically whenever you start the game. Remember that you don’t need to extract the zip files in the autoload directory.

After the installation completed, go to the Start>DOSBox>Options and then select DOSBox options.

Step 3

Find the [sdl] section and change fullsecreen=false to true.

Find the [dosbox] section and change the memsize=16 to 32.

If you are using LCD display for your system, then find the [render] section and change aspect=false to tru.

Go to the end of the file and under the [autoexec] add the code below:

"C:\DOSBox" in the second line is the name and path of the directory we are going to create for our DOSBox application, so whatever name you select for this directory remember to change this line accordingly. Save the file and exit.

Step 4

Create a directory on the C:\ drive and rename it to DOSBox or whatever you want. Place the 3dduke13 (the free shareware that you download earlier) inside the DOSBox directory and then from the Start menu, run the DOSBox application.

Step 5

Navigate to the C:\> cd 3dduke13 then type "install" and hit the Enter key. In the next window, press Enter to install the game and leave all settings as their defaults. Wait till installation process finished.

Step 6

To play the game just type "setup" and hit the Enter key. Before starting the game, go to the Sound option and set your sound settings to "Sound Blaster" or any other one that you want. Leave all the Sound Blaster settings as their default.

Step 7

After you finished with the Sound setup, Save and launch Duke Nukem 3d. Whenever you want to play the game using DOSBox, just navigate to C:\duke3d>setup and press the Enter key. Enjoy!

How to Uninstall or Detach Windows 8 From Dual Boot Setup

It was a couple weeks ago that I published an article about how to dual boot Windows 8 and Windows 7 using VHD. At that time I showed you how doing this by using the Windows 8 evaluation for developers. As you know this free version of Windows 8 only works for 90 days and after that you have to install a fresh version of Windows 8 again. Today I decided to uninstallWindows 8 developer from my system and install a new licensed version. But to do this I need to remove the old version and its Virtual Hard Drive safely without losing any data from my current Windows 7. The first and most important step is to create a backup from your data in Windows 7 so in case of any problem, you don't lose your current system files, data and information. Follow these steps:

How to Set up Back Up in Windows 7

Step 1

Go to the Windows Control Panel>Backup and Restore>Set up backup

Step 2

In the next window, select where you want to save your backup. It’s better to save your backup on an external hard disk or DVD, otherwise choose any drive that you want to store your data.

Step 3

The rest of process is straightforward and easy, just follow the Windows instructions.

How to create a system image

In the same window that you made a backup of your data, click on the "Create a system image" link and in the next window; select the location that you want to store your data. Again I recommended using an external hard drive or DVD for your backup. But you also have the option to use the same hard disk. By having a backup of your system files and data, now we are ready to start with removing the Windows 8 from our dual boot setup.

How to Uninstall the Windows 8 from dual boot configuration

Step 1

To remove the Windows 8.vhd, first of all you need to open msconfig or the System Configuration tool. To open System Configuration, type "msconfig" in the Windows’ Run or in the Start’s search box and hit the Enter key.

Step 2

In the System Configuration window, navigate to the Boot tab. If the Windows 7 is not your system default operating system, then make it your default OS.

Step 3

Select the Windows 8 and then the Delete button to delete the Windows 8 boot entry. After that OK the window and restart your system.

Step 4

Now let’s remove our VHD (virtual hard drive) partition. Open the Windows Disk Management by writing "disk management" in the Start’s searchbox or type "diskmgmt.msc" in the Windows’ Run box.

Step 5

In the Disk Management window, right-click on the Win 8 VHDpartition and from the menu, select "Delete Volume".

Step 6

Click the "Yes" button in the next window to delete the Win 8 volume. The volume will be deleted and an unallocated free space will remain.

Step 7

Again right-click on this disk from the left panel window and from the drop-down menu, choose "Detach VHD". In the next window, tick the option "Delete the virtual hard disk file after removing the disk" and hit the OKbutton. That’s it, you all done.

Multi-Touch Keyboard and Mouse by Jason Giddings

These Multi-Touch keyboard and mouse is a concept design by Jason Giddings, an aerospace engineer and inventor. These devices made of tempered glass that attached to a solid metal base. The keyboard and mouse have no moving parts and are wireless. They can be charged using Lithium Polymer batteries when they connected to the power supply. The available software for these peripheral devices is open source and that makes them more special. By developing the software the user can use the mouse to zoom like an iPad or convert the keyboard from standard edition to CAD design edition simply by toggling the number pad off and have more space for work. The concept uses Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (or FTIR) and infrared LEDs positioned at the edge of the glass. The design is simple but so creative! The LEDs are hidden in the gaps where the glass is mounted to the base. By touching the glass due to reflection, the IR light will diffuse downward and the camera under the device will catch the light. The rest of the job will be done by the software. Jason Gidding is a talented engineer and CEO of Giddings Product Development who design this concept.

What is C?

C is a programming language (high level language) written by Dennis Ritchie in 1972. The C language first developed at AT and T's Bell Laboratories in the United States. C is a structured programming language and gives users the ability to create subroutines, structures and loops. This language is very easy to learn due to its reliability and free format text source. C is one of the most popular and widely used programming languages. Many modern languages like C++, C#, Java, PHP and Python have been developed from the C language. It is very difficult and almost impossible to learn C++, C# and Java without knowing the C language. Even today many parts of popular operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux) are still written in C language. The reason for this is the C performance. Also device drivers usually are written in C language. So to be an efficient programmer, learning C is a must. Simple C is a chapter wise tutorial that techs you C in a simple method with lots of coding examples. This is the first chapter and the rest of tutorials (or chapters) will publish later.

C compiler

When you want to make any program, you need to write the instructions and then convert those instructions to machine language (0 and 1). So what you need is an editor like Notepad or Microsoft Word to write the instructions and a compiler to convert those instructions to machine language.

Usually a Compiler provides an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). An IDE is a software application that create a user friendly environment for programmers and software developers. There are several IDEs available in the market; Turbo C, Turbo C++ and Microsoft C are some of these IDEs that work under MS-DOS. For the Windows users, Visual C++ and Borland C++ work under the Windows and gcc compiler works under Linux operating system. You should know Turbo C++, Microsoft C++ and Borland C++ also contain C Compiler. To start, I suggest using Turbo C or Turbo C++. You can download these IDEs from the links below:

Note: You need to install the Borland C++ before you able to use it. For installing the compiler, open the Borland C++ folder and double click on SETUP.EXE file, then follow the instruction. For using Turbo C and Turbo C++ you don’t need to install them. Just copy these files into your desired directory like C: drive. To run Turbo C, open the TUR-C folder and double click on TC.EXE file.

For running the Turbo C++, open TUR-CPP V3>BIN>TC.EXE file. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, when you double click on TC.EXE file the IDE window will open and give you a message that "This system does not support full screen mode. Choose close to terminate the application", just select ignore to enter the IDE window.

To solve this problem, click on the top left side of the window, then from the pop down menu choose Properties. Go to font tab and select Lucida Console font and font size 28. Then go to the Layout tab, in this tab you can arrange the size of the IDE window. Just arrange it in the way that it suits you.

Steps to load edit and compile a C-program

Let assume that you use Turbo C or Turbo C++ compiler, and saved it in C: directory of your system. First open the Windows Command Prompt, for this type CMD in Run and hit the Enter or select it from

Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt

Now follow these steps:

Step 1

Go to C:\>cd tur-cpp v3\bin or whatever is your compiler directory name, then C:>tur-cpp v3\bin>tc

Step 2

Select New from the File menu and type your program.

Step 3

Press F2 to save the program, Ctrl + F9 for compiling and Alt + F5 for executing the program.

But in this tutorial I’ll show you how to host WordPress on your local machine using WampServer. If you already have a hosted WordPress website, then you don’t need to use WampServe and simply add the RePress plugin to your blog. Just follow the rest of the tutorial at the end of this post. WampServer is a free application that gives you the ability to create a web server on your system. It contains Apache2, PHP and MySQL database and totally compatible with the WordPress. You can make and manage your database using PhpMyAdmin tool. So before I start with the RePress proxy let me tell you how to install WordPress on your system:

How to host WordPress on your local machine

Step 1

Download WampServer from the link below and install it. The installation process is like any other Windows application and quite easy.

After the installation finished, run the WampServer. You will see its tray icon in your taskbar. Left-click on it and from the menu, select "Start All Services". Its color will change from the red to the green.

Step 3

Again from the menu, choose Localhost to open the Localhost in your system default browser. In this page you can configure your server and database.

Step 4

Download the WordPress from the link below, you will get a zip file. Extract the file in the c:\wamp\www directory. Refer to the image below:

Go back to the WampServer Homepage or Localhost and refresh the page. Wordpress project will appear under the "Your Projects".

Before we install the wordPress, we have to create a database for it. For this click on the phpmyadmin link under the "Your Aliases".

Step 6

In the phpMyAdmin page, select Databases and then Create database. Name your new database "wordpress" or whatever you want and then click on the Create icon.

Step 7

Go back to the Localhost page and click on the wordpress link, under the "Your Projects". On the next page, select the "Create a Configuration File".

Step 8

What we need to do now is to configure our database. Click on the "Let’s go!" icon. On the next page enter the database name (in our case wordpress), the user name as "root" and leave the password field empty. Then Submit the database.

Step 9

The last steps are quite easy and straightforward such as given title name and email address.

Convert Your WordPress Site to a Free Proxy Website

Step 1

If you are using WampServer, then left click on its tray iconand from the menu go to Apache>Apache modules and then select "rewrite-module". After that again Start All Services.

If you use the WordPress with a hosting service provider then just follow the rest of the steps.

Step 2

In the WordPress dashboard, go to the Settings>Permalinksand then under the Common Settings, choose any option except the Default (you can select any of the available options). Do not forget to Save Changes.

Step 3

Open Plugins>Installed Plugins>Add New and search for RePress plugin. Then install and activate the RePress plugin.

Step 4

Go back to the Settings>RePress page to modify the permalink and add domains. The default permalink is "/repress", you can change it to anything you want like "/proxy".

If you want to open a website with your WordPress proxy site, in the web browser address bar enter

your-wordpress-address/proxy/webstie.com

For example I used the WampServer for this tutorial and my WordPress address is "http://localhost/wordpress", if I want to open wikileaks.org then my path is

http://localhost/wordpress/proxy/wikileaks.org

In general, If you use a hosting service provider or a costume domain name then you can access blocked websites by adding their address at the end of your website url like

http://my-wordpress-website/proxy/any-website.com

Step 5

To open any blocked website, first you have to add its domain to RePress’s proxy list.

That’s it; you just converted your WordPress site to a Proxy website.

Change Any User Password at Windows Log in Screen

If you want to open any Windows user account and you don’t know the user’s password, you can use the Command Prompt to create a new password and enter the account. You can do this before you enter the Windows login by bypassing Login Screen. As we are going to use CMD for this trick, you are even able to create new user accounts, modify existing user accounts or execute other programs all in the Windows Lock or Login page. The first thing we need to do is to open the Windows Command Prompt at the Login page. To do this, follow these steps:

Run Command Prompt or CMD as administrator and enter the exact command below:

Hit the Enter Key and wait till the operation completed successfully.

Now Log off the Windows to enter the Windows Log in screen or page. To open the Command Prompt, press the Shift key 5 times.

CHARLI is able of walking in all directions and even performing motions and upper body manipulation tasks. The making of CHARLI first started as a research project for improving the capabilities of humanoid robots. Since 2009 various improvements added to the original CHARLI. The first robot called CHARLI-L (L for lightweight). It had a weight of 12.4 kg and walking speed of 0.8 km/h. in 2010 CHARLI nominated as America’s first true humanoid robot by Popular Science due to its biological design and similarity to humans. CHARLI-2 is the new version of CHARLI that has more stability, speed in walking (1.4 km/h) and learning intelligence. The new improvement that has added to the CHARLI-2 is the soccer playing skill as it was designed to participate in the autonomous robot soccer competition or RoboCup. CHARLI-2 has won the Louis Vuitton Best Humanoid Award at RoboCup 2011 and honored as 2011 Best Invention of the Yearby Time magazine. The Parallel Universes – Beyond Our Imagination

We hear and see scientists so often talk about Parallel Universes, the mysterious worlds that we cannot see, touch or fill but they might exist. Since Einstein who proposed the Relativity theory, physicist struggle with the concept of existence of these hidden universes. When one of my physics professors for the first time talked about the parallel universe, I was so amazed by the fact. I remember he said some physicist say they exist and this mathematically the proof, so we cannot ignore this theory and say they don’t exist unless we proof they don’t. So what is the exact definition of parallel universe and how the scientist reached the conclusion of their existence? These are the questions that I will try to answer in this article.

A parallel universe also known as Alternative reality is an imaginary independent reality parallel to the one other universe. A number of parallel universes are called a Multiverse and there might be infinite numbers of these universes. In these different universes the physics law may also be different for example in our world we cannot exceed the speed of light but you may exceed it in the some other parallel universe. According to the Quantum physic parallel universes are the universes that divided from each other by a single quantum event.

One other factor we have to consider about the parallel universes is the Infinity. Some cosmologists believe that the space is infinite and we have infinite numbers of spaces which each space contains billion galaxiesand stars. So according to the probability law there should be a planet just like earth with the precise same conditions. In other words you have multiple number copies of yourself living in these parallel universes. In some you are doing the exact same thing that you are doing in this current universe and in another you may be a doctor, a chef or even never born. These parallel universes exist alongside our universe in that they may have different history (like word wars never happened) or different laws of nature.

The quantum mechanics deals with the physical phenomena of Particles at microscopic scales. In our daily life what we see in reality is that every object has an exact position, momentum and energy. We observe the chair placed near our desk has a specific shape and dimension. But in quantum physic this is not the case. It was the 1920 when physicists discovered they cannot pinpoint the definite location of atomic particles such as protons or electrons as they don’t have a single location. How is it possible? Can a particle be in different places at the same time?

To explain these phenomena, the existence of Parallel Universes came to reality. Scientists said there must be other universes that particles can be present in them at the same time. But still they couldn’t prove it.

String Theory, Big Bang Theory and Singularity

A matter or object made of atoms in which they contain three components, electrons, neutrons and protons. The electrons are orbiting the nucleus that created by neutrons. The electron made of particles called leptons but neutrons and protons are made of particles called quarks. The string theory was introduced in the 1980. The String Theory states that matters do not compose of particles but instead made of very tiny strings. According to this theory particle like electrons are not only single point but tiny strings that can move and oscillate in different directions. If these strings oscillate in certain directions they called electrons and if they move in other directions they are no longer electrons but protons or quarks. The string theory sometimes called the Theory of Everything as the some physicists believed it can explain all elementary forces of nature and forms of matter. But there was another problem "the Big Bang Theory and the Singularity".

The String theory makes better sense with the Einstein General Relativity and the Big Bang theory except the Singularity. As I said the String theory describes particles as string loops, oscillating at various directions or frequencies. Now what physicists mean by singularity is the exact state before the Big Bang occurred. We know about the giant explosion but what was the universe before the Big Bang? It was a very extremely small point with a very small volume that called Singularity. This small point started expanding and got bigger very fast during the Big Bang. The laws of physics break-down at this point and physicists were not able to explain the singularity either by the General relativity or the String theory.

The M Theory and 11th Dimension

Later after that it was the discovery of the 11th dimension. Particle physicists believed according to the String theory if the strings or particles want to be able to oscillate freely, they need a system with 9 dimensional space plus if we consider Time as an extra dimension then they need 10 dimensional space. The strings are one dimensional (they have only length but not height nor width) mathematical object with a length of 10^-35 meters and they oscillate at the speed of light. As humans we can only observe directly 3 dimensions (length, width and height) + time. The M theory or Theory of Everything by introducing of an 11th dimension answered some of the questions. The letter M in the M theory was taken from the word Membrane. As before the M theory scientists agreed on 5 different string theories that at the time they were seemed to be all correct. The M theory unified all of them and now each string theory is a special case of this theory. In short words we can say the strings inside the atoms vibrate in this multiple dimensions and according to their direction or frequency of vibrate they can be seen in 3 dimensional space (the dimensional space that we are able to observe directly) as matter, gravity and light. I have to also mention, the super gravity theory had an important role in discovering of the 11th dimension and the main differences between the 5 superstring theories were the number of dimensions and their attributes.

Now the physicists have the 11th dimension, they can explain the singularity with the existence of the parallel universes. So there must be infinite numbers of parallel universes, floating in the 11th dimension. In the M and String theories, we have a membrane and brane and they depend on the static number of dimensions. 0-brane is a point like particle, 1-brane is a string (one dimensional object), and 2-brane is a membrane and so on. A brane is an entity which can have any number of allowed dimensions. We live in a universe that is a three dimensional brane restricted within a higher or the lager dimensional space. Other branes with different number of dimensions can hold other universes on them. Colliding two branes with each other could possibly cause the Big Bang and creating a whole new world. With the help of the M theory or theory of everything we can say there exists infinite numbers of universes (multiverse) that in each one of them may different law of physics govern. There could be an exact copy of earth or even ourselves exist in these other universes but we can see them as they are in the different dimensions. There could be a precise copy of us (or with a little different) living in the parallel universes at the same time.

4 levels of Parallel Universes

The Parallel Universes categorized into 4 different levels:

Level 1- Regions beyond our cosmic horizon

In the first level of multiverse the same laws of physics govern and the universe considers to have infinite size with infinite number of Hubble volumes. Hubble volume is a spherical portion of the universe surrounding an observer beyond which objects recede from that observer at a rate greater than the speed of light due to the expansion of the Universe. Because it is infinite so there might be another copy of our world lives. The level one parallel universe exists in the same space that our universe exists.

Level 2- Other post-inflation bubbles

In this level these parallel universes are contained in giant bubbles. The Inflation theory is the rapid expansion of the universe during the Big Bang when the universe grown so large and rapidly that in our point of view it looks like it is flat. When we observe the cosmos, we find certain points that are so far away from each other but they have the same temperature and characteristics. It is only the Inflation theory that can explain this wide separation. In the second level of parallel universes, these universes live inside the bubble of spacetime and have their own expansion (with consideration of Inflation theory). The laws of nature may be different in these universes.

Level 3- The many worlds of quantum physics

What is the main difference between level one and level two multiverses is that in the first two levels, the duplicated universe are so far away from our universe but in the third level they exists in the same space and time in the different dimensions. What the scientists mean by many worlds of quantum physics is that random quantum processes cause the universe to branch into multiple copies, one for each possible outcome. Each of these possible outcomes or observations corresponds to the different universes. In these multiverses we can find the same fundamental laws of physics but may be with different constants and dimensions (like level 2). In one universe you are alive but in another one you may dead. We can say quantum differences can produce different history in parallel universes.

Level 4- Other mathematical structures

In the last level or level 4 the parallel universes that can be described by different mathematical structures exists. These multiverses can mathematically describe but they cannot observe in our universe. It means their mathematical existence is equal to their physical existence. In the level 4 of the parallel universes we can find different fundamental laws of physics.

The Dark Energy Survey with World’s Most Powerful Digital Camera

It was in 1998 when two teams of astronomers by study of distant supernova discovered that the expansion of the universe is speeding up instead of slowing down. As the Einstein proved with his theory of General Relativity, gravity is a force to cause cosmic expansion to slow down. It is the general relativity theory that helps astrophysics calculates astronomical phenomena such as black holes, neutron stars and quasars. The general theory of relativity concerns about the gravitational force and according to classical mechanics moving entities cannot accelerate with respect to each other but they do when they are in free fall state. Then it was Einstein who suggested that space-time is curved in 1915. Cosmologists in the Dark Energy Survey observatory say either 75% of the universe contains of dark energy or there exist an extra gravitational force opposite to the attractive gravity of ordinary matter or even we need a new theory of gravity on cosmic scales.

Now a group of scientists from Fermilab and collaborations of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) created a 570 megapixel camera after eight years of hard work. This camera called the Dark Energy Camera and based on the National Science Foundation’s Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile. The aim of creating this powerful telescope is to observe light from over 100,000 galaxies up to 8 billion light years away and to find why the universe speeding up rather than slowing due to gravity? The cosmologists will use this super powerful camera to study dark energy, galaxy clusters and supernovae. In the next five years this camera will create detailed color images of one-eighth of the sky, or 5,000 square degrees and help scientists to discover over 300 million galaxies, 100,000 galaxy clusters and 4,000 supernovas. On Sept 12 the Dark Energy Camera observed the first light and captured pictures of the southern sky. You can check the images below:

Display Start up Message in Windows 7 or 8

Did you know that you can display a message at the start up time in the Windows 7 or 8? There might be many reasons for you to show a message when the computer starts and before it enters the Windows environment. You can use the message as a reminder for yourself or other users who use the same system. If you work in an office then you can use this trick to show a legal notice or important messages to the employees when they log in to the Windows. In this post I'll show you how to show message during log on by using Windows Group Policy or Windows Registry. Follow these steps:

Using Windows Group Policy

Step 1

The best and easiest way is to use the Group Policy editor. To open Group Policy, first press Win + R to open the Run and then type gpedit.msc.

Step 2

In the Local Group Policy Editor go the path below:

Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options

Step 3

From the right panel window scroll down until you find Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on and Interactive logon: Message title for users attempting to log on

The first setting will assign the text message that you plan to show when the user tries to attempt log on and the second one is for assigning the title of the message. Double-click on each one, enter your message and OK the window.

Step 4

Restart the Windows to see the result.

Using Registry Editor

Step 1

You have also the option to do the same thing using the Windows registry editor. Type Run in the Start/Start Screen search box to open the Run or simply press Win + R keys. Enter regedit and hit the Enter key.

Step 2

Navigate to the key below:

In the right panel of the window find legalnoticecaption and legalnoticetext keys.

Step 3

These two keys act same as we saw earlier in Group Policy Settings. legalnoticecaption is for assigning the title of the message and legalnoticetext is for the text message. Double-click on each one and under the Value data, type your message.

Step 4

OK the windows and exit the Registry editor. Restart your system to see the result.
