HARTFORD – Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. released the following statement on the new unemployment data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Today’s jobs report brings welcome good news of lower unemployment and new jobs, but the fact remains that far too many Connecticut citizens are unemployed. Connecticut still boasts the highest costs in the nation for setting up shop and hiring new workers. And that unfortunate reality has been made worse by Governor Malloy and Speaker Donovan’s record tax increases, coddling of union bosses, and the now unbalanced state budget.

“The economic uncertainty that has been created by the failed policies of Dan Malloy, Chris Donovan, and Barack Obama continue to prevent a strong recovery.”

Poor Storm Response

Friday, November 4th, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Bryan Cafferelli
bryan@ctgop.org

Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. released the following statement this evening regarding the response of the Malloy administration to Winter Storm Alfred.

“Today marks day six of Connecticut battling the aftermath of October Storm Alfred. More than 300,000 Connecticut families are still without power, which is simply unacceptable. This storm was forecasted long before it hit.

“The Malloy administration and CL&P failed to take action and make the necessary preparations to ensure that Connecticut would have the resources to recover in a timely manner. There have been countless reports of miscommunication among key state agencies from mayors and others on the front lines.

“We are humbled by the support from our neighboring states that were also affected by this storm. However, those states were prepared to respond to Alfred’s certain destruction. They have recovered far more quickly than Connecticut.

“Governor Malloy clearly failed to regard the lessons from Tropical Storm Irene. Press conferences do not restore power, and sound bites will not get Connecticut back to work.”

Friends,

It’s not too late to register to vote in the 2011 municipal elections. You have through Tuesday, November 1st to see your Town Registrar in person and register. I hope you will join me in reaching out to friends and neighbors who may not be registered to vote and encouraging them to register and support our great Republican candidates this year.

Connecticut voters simply can’t afford the failed policies of the Obama administration, Governor Malloy, and our Democrat-controlled state legislature. The time to send a message to Hartford and Washington is now. By electing Republicans on a local level, we will show the Democrats that Connecticut will not stand for more of the same failed policies of higher taxes, out of control borrowing, and limitless spending.

I invite you to directly get involved with your local election and help your town’s Republican candidates. To contact your Town Committee chair visit this link and find your town. As always, you can contact State Republican Headquarters at (860) 826-7378 with any questions.
