CHILDREN at Whoberley Hall Primary School in Coventry have scooped an award for setting themselves challenges - and succeeding.

Pupils were asked to think of activities they were not sure of achieving and then volunteer to give them a go. The eight pupils who took part in the Rotary Club Junior Community Awards were delighted when the school, in Overdale Road, won the prize for getting the most children through all the sections of the award.

They were presented with a challenge trophy and individual certificates by the city's Lord Mayor, Coun Jack Harrison. They did two hours of sport or fitness a week, helped the caretaker and after-school clubs, learned new skills ranging from self-defence to cookery and improved their social skills.
