Earlsdon Methodists plan a new sunday school

(Taken from the Coventry Telegraph, December 4, 1951)

Earlsdon Methodist Church Sunday School, Coventry, which held its first class 85 years ago in a disused factory in Cromwell Street - now Berkeley Road - will soon have a new building.

It is being erected adjoining the church in Earlsdon Avenue South and tomorrow the foundation stone is to be laid by the Rev. W Russell Shearer, chairman of the district.

The Sunday School has progressed through the years from the small class of one class to an over-crowded school of nearly 300, and then through years of reorganisation and war.

Earlsdon Methodist Church gets new look - and organ

(from Coventry Telegraph 20 September 1972)

An organ which cost more to move from Birmingham than the purchase price, has been installed in the Earlsdon Methodist Church, Coventry. The installation of the organ at Earlsdon has been incorporated with a completely new design of the sanctuary in the church.

The minister, the Revd Robert Clements, said the church would be 100 years old next year. When it was founded, services were held in a disused factory.

The congregation later moved to premises in Berkeley Road, which are now the Criterion Theatre.

Plea from Revd Wild of St Barbara's Church

By Revd. Hilda Wild, St Barbara's Vicarage, Rochester Road, Earlsdon.

Having just walked our dog down The Riddings, onto Canley Road and then back up Nightingale Lane, Coventry, I was disgusted to see the dog mess someone has left on Canley Road.

A gentleman said to me 'Oh, I see you're doing it proper, there's a pile of it down there'.

He'd seen my doggy bags for clearing up.

Come on people of Earlsdon let's clear up after our dogs and not continue giving people reason to moan at we 'dog lovers'.

We should be educated enough by now to clear up our dog's mess, and we should remember that some dogs carry worms that are dangerous to children.
