By Ruth Winters, Headteacher.

The school's summer fair will be held on Saturday June 20th, from 11.30 a.m. - 2.30 p.m.

The theme of this year's event is "Music" and as such there will be a host of demonstrations and performances. Children and parents are invited to bring along their own instruments: traditional or hand - made, (the simpler the better!).

Amongst the planned events are performances from the school choir and orchestra, demonstrations of maypole dancing, cheer leading, salsa dancing, and dancers from the Leivers School of Dancing.

Irwin fires Woodlands School to Telegraph Schools under 16s Champions

WOODLANDS were crowned the Telegraph Schools under-16s champions when they beat off the challenge of Caludon Castle at the Ricoh Arena.

A solitary strike from Sam Irwin following good work by man of the match Aron Wint proved decisive for the Broad Lane youngsters.

But Caludon were hampered in their bid to win the coveted trophy for the first time since 1982 when Craig Bottom was dismissed for two bookable offences during the opening half.

By Emma Shore-Marston, Abbie Thomas and Emily Healey.

Children at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, Coventry, did something funny for money on Friday March 13th by putting on their own events for the whole school to take part in.

They've raised money for Comic Relief and children in Malawi.

By Mrs Ryan and Mrs Evans

We like to keep you up-to-date with what's been going on at St John Vianney Catholic School, and this week the kids have been active with:

Communication Language and Literacy

We have combined R.E. with literacy this week and the children have been listening to and writing about the story of Palm Sunday story.

This was followed by our prayer service with father Jonathan. It was lovely to see so many family members coming to our classroom to share a very special story. The children have learnt the story very well and are using the costumes from the story in our role play area.

Maths

Our focus this week has been comparing numbers. We have been looking at numbers and trying to find a number or numbers which come in between two numbers.

Earlsdon Primary School raise £933.23 for their red noses

By Mary Griffin
Environment Reporter

RED noses are getting a new lease of life at a Coventry supermarket.

Instead of sitting at the back of a cupboard or being thrown into landfill, this year's red noses are being recycled by staff at Sainsbury's.

The store in Austin Drive, near the Gallagher Retail Park, sold nearly 13,000 noses for this month's Comic Relief, while Sainsbury's in Canley sold more than 14,000.

By Duncan Gibbons

THE Sky Blue city turned a shade of emerald green yesterday as thousands of people celebrated St Patrick's Day.

Members of Coventry's 35,000-strong Irish community took part in a series of events to mark the death of their patron saint more than 1,500 years ago.

The festivities began with a traditional Irish breakfast for homeless people at Norton House, in Bird Street, followed by the blessing of the shamrock at Coventry Irish Society, in Hill Street.

By Mrs Ryan - Class Teacher

We all enjoyed our trip to the Jaguar. The theme of the visit was People Who Help Us. All the children had the opportunity to dress up as someone who helps us - we had some lovely firemen and women, nurses, doctors, builders, dentists, surgeons to name a few!

We looked at signs we may see and what they meant. The children took part in a little play all about driving and using your mobile phone! Ask the children to tell you all about it.
