The Reverend Peter Stevenson a United Reformed Church minister in Coventry received his Doctorate degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey, USA on 23rd May 2009.

Peter began this course in 2004, which included workshops at Westminster College Cambridge in August of that year and workshops in America in June 2005 and 2006.

Warwickshire Youth Waits (the only youth waits group performing at present) are performing a concert at 7.30pm on 23rd May 2009 at Holyhead Road United Reformed Church, led by their director Alison Kinder.

Services are held every Sunday at 10.30am at the Holyhead Road United Reformed Church.

Fiona, who is the widow of TV entertainer Roy Castle, is patron of the charity, which supports hundreds of children in some of the poorest parts of the world.

She will be speaking at a meeting at St Columba's United Reformed Church, in St Columba's Close, Radford, on Saturday, May 16, at 3pm.

Roberta Hall, of St Columba's Church said: "We know Fiona is a great speaker, with some amazing stories to tell, and we would like to invite as many people as possible to join us for what we are sure will be a fascinating afternoon."

Entrance is 50p for adults, 25p for children and bacon butties will cost £1.25.

Tea and coffee is free and there will be a raffle and a bring and buy sale.

The project, run by artist Victoria Reed, included a number of workshops in the city which focused on creating art based on the theme of hope.

Those taking part included the Coventry 60th Scouts, Girls Brigade, Holyhead Road URC toddler group and the Hillfields-based Kairos women's group.

Thanksgiving will be offered tonight at St Elizabeth Church, in St Elizabeth's Road, Coventry.

Prayers will be said in English, Tamil, and Sinhala, from 8.30pm.

This will be followed with a mass on Good Friday at 5.30pm.

Ken Coulsey, 87, Ron Price 86, Ken Brown, 89, and Jack Broome, 94, all attend the Coundon Care Centre and will be performing at a special Easter service at Coundon Methodist Church, in Dallington Road, tomorrow afternoon.

There will be stalls, raffles and hot food.

Visitors can have their car washed for £4 and a free cup of coffee is on offer for all visitors.

All proceeds will go to the church building fund.

The event is in Salem Baptist Church, Lady Lane, Longford, and starts at 6pm.

Music will be provided by the Salvation Army band and the service will have lots of singing and hymns including Welsh classics Cwm Rhondda and Calon Lan.

The church will be decorated with 400 daffodils.

The congregation may be smaller these days but the sense of family and will to do good works remain unchanged, as Karen Hambridge reports.

PREACHING and pints are not the most obvious bedfellows but for the Coventry congregation of St Francis in Radford during the war there was little choice but to decamp to the local boozer.

Their church, in Links Road, was only two years old when it was bombed on that fateful night of November 14, 1940 - the night that saw destruction rain on the city's cathedral.
