Jo attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations at St Francis of Assisi and sent in this blog regarding the goings on of the day.

She also recounts a past event which gave her and Father Mason much to laugh about.

70th Anniversary for Radford's St Francis of Assisi Church

The colourful history of St Francis of Assisi Church in Radford, Coventry, is being marked with a 70th anniversary celebration and a special day of thanksgiving this Sunday.

The congregation may be smaller these days but the sense of family and will to do good works remain unchanged, as Karen Hambridge reports.

PREACHING and pints are not the most obvious bedfellows but for the Coventry congregation of St Francis in Radford during the war there was little choice but to decamp to the local boozer.

Their church, in Links Road, was only two years old when it was bombed on that fateful night of November 14, 1940 - the night that saw destruction rain on the city's cathedral.
