By Derek Brown

TWO teams, Coundon Court under-9s and Coventry Sphinx under-11s, went the whole season unbeaten as they completed their respective league and cup doubles.

They were class acts as they retained their championships in superb style while adding additional silverware to their hauls.

REECE QUINN'S predatory strike midway through the first period was enough to give Coventry Copsewood a 1-0 victory over Coundon Athletic in an even and entertaining battle at Allard Way.

The striker pounced to give Copses three hard-earned points after hesitation between Niall Power and Jordan Shields allowed Quinn to round Power before slotting into an empty net.

By Tom Little

Before a lively and boisterous Butts Park Arena crowd, the Malcolm Cup Final was won by Coundon Court after an exciting and well fought match.

The game followed the well worn path of recent encounters between the two sides, as Coundon Court took a first-half lead only for Woodlands to spend the second half trying to catch up.

Credit should go to Coundon Court for defending well in the second half, keeping Woodlands at bay, for a well-earned victory.

TOM BARNWELL'S last-gasp volley salvaged a point for Coventry Sphinx in a fiercely competitive and thoroughly engaging battle with Christ The King Rovers at Bablake Playing Fields.

Jack Gault's strike six minutes from time looked to have sealed the victory for Kings, but Barnwell's magnificent finish just seconds before the final whistle ensured both teams' unbeaten records remained intact.

Single kick decides in favour of Court Coundon

By John Wilkinson

A PENALTY from Bradley Fox inside the final 10 minutes was enough to give Coundon Court a 3-0 victory over King Henry VIII in a closely-fought Coventry Schools Under-14s final at Butts Park Arena.

Both teams looked for openings with a number of good carries from forwards and backs alike, and there was no shortage of honest endeavour as both teams tackled strongly and supported their colleagues.

By John Wilkinson

EMERGING Coventry athlete Michael McKeown claimed his first national title and an international call-up with a superb victory at the Sainsbury's English Schools Cross-County Championships.

The 14-year-old Cardinal Newman pupil, who had been hoping for a top eight finish, was in the form of his life as he led home a field of 317 in the junior boys race at Stanford Hall, in Leicestershire, to secure a place in the England team for this weekend's Home Countries schools international in Bangor, Wales.

BEN HARDING'S second-half double broke the stout resistance of a resolute Christ The King and ensured Stratford Town edged an entertaining encounter 3-1 at Bablake School.

Harding's double, plus an injury-time header from the dangerous Dylan Parker salvaged the three points for the visitors, after they had fallen behind to Charlie Kingham's wonderful left-footed strike midway through the first-period.

SAM FAULCONBRIDGE'S first-half strike swung a fiercely competitive battle the way of Coventry Sphinx as they overcame the challenge of a fired-up Dunlop 1-0 at Siddeley Avenue.

In a game where clear-cut chances were few and far between, Faulconbridge's prowess in front of goal proved the difference between two teams with opposing styles.

Dunlop set the tone for a lively encounter in the opening minute when Kyle Gibney unleashed an audacious 40-yard free-kick which left Sphinx keeper Martin Stead grasping at thin air as the ball crashed against the crossbar and away to relative safety.
